Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first — it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~), be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Your contributed article, Era of Palace coups (disambiguation)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Era of Palace coups (disambiguation). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Battle of the Palaces. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Battle of the Palaces. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:09, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yan-Lucky, do you need some tips about disambiguation pages and redirects? See Wikipedia:Disambiguation and Wikipedia:Redirects. Disambiguation pages tell apart articles on different topics with similar titles; we can also use WP:HATNOTEs for this if a disambiguation page isn't needed. Redirects help readers find a topic from an alternative title. Neither should include encyclopedic content, because they are for navigation.
Era of Palace coups (disambiguation) didn't disambiguate anything and just repeated content, while Era of Palace coups incorrectly included content when it was a redirect and the target was wrong: Battle of the Palaces, though related, isn't the same topic. I've retargeted it. Fences&Windows 17:37, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Translation troubles

[edit]

You created Anichkovs as a translation of ru:Аничковы, but you did not follow the right procedure. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia#Translating_from_other_language_Wikimedia_projects. First, you didn't attribute the source, which I've now done in an edit summary and on the talk page. Second, your translation is poor and reads like a machine translation. I've tagged it to be properly translated - please don't do such translations like this if you can't put them into reasonable English. Fences&Windows 23:15, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
