Thanks for getting International Bowl set up better

Had gotten the 2007 International Bowl page set up, but I figured I would let someone with a little more expeirence handle cleaning up the other sections, since I didnt want to screw anything up. Thanks again for getting that :) Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 01:09, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Mr. Basketball

Hey man, thanks for backing me up on that Mr. Basketball of Michigan page, I really didnt get what the critic had a problem with with that page. Glad a fellow Western grad and Oakland County resident appreciated it. Go Broncos! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by V8americanpower (talkcontribs) 05:07, 13 April 2007 (UTC).

Seeking community input re standardizing baseball roster pages

Hi ... I'm leaving you this note because you recently made edits to one of the Major League Baseball roster pages. I've made a proposal for standardizing the format, structure and content of these pages here and would appreciate your input so that we may reach a consensus. Thanks. --Sanfranman59 05:55, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Baseball templates

Alright. Since you were complaining yesterday about how I don't address any of your points, state your points individually here and I will respond to each of them individually. --Ksy92003 22:59, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Comments

Sorry, but could you please explain to me what's going on between you and Ksy92003? It seems like you keep reverting each other's comments on that discussion page. In my opinion, I believe Ksy92003 is right and you are wrong. Wikipedia discussion pages are for discussing content of the articles and other Wikipedia-related topics. I saw the edit he made to Talk:Magmortar. He gave a personal opinion about how he thought the Pokémon's name should've been something else. Key word: should've. He gave an opinion about something, and because it was not Wikipedia related, rather an opinion, a feeling, that comment was removed. The comment that you left on Template talk:2007 AL West standings saying,

is the same thing that Ksy92003 did and was reverted for. You expressed your feeling. You gave an opinion about how you wished that the Tigers could win another game. That is what Ksy92003 did and was reverted for. You both expressed an opinion. Both comments should've been reverted. However, only Ksy92003's comment was because you have continued to revert him/her. I think you are being completely unfair to Ksy92003. He has said that it doesn't seem like anybody likes him/her. And I'm sure that you are just making him/her even more frustrated. I also saw that he is the one who began the project. So I think you're being too hard on him/her and should probably stop. Ksy92003 was right to remove your comment. And you had no right to revert Ksy92003 when he removed a comment that should've been removed. So please stop. 166.129.189.183 15:41, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

hahaha, I am not going to respond to an IP address. Is that you, yourself Ksy92003? X96lee15 15:47, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
No, I'm not Ksy92003. But seriously, you really are being too hard on him. He's trying his hardest here. I was just now looking at his edit contributions and he has worked a lot this morning and friday night to update all the baseball articles. And through his first edit summary, I saw that he was busy all afternoon/evening/night saturday. This morning, early in the morning, he came on Wikipedia, updated the standings, updated most of the game logs that needed updating, and has done a good job. He's made 28 edits so far this morning, which I believe is a lot for not even being 9:00 AM where he is, in Long Beach, California.
Clearly, he's a guy who's very dedicated to working on the project. And actually, he's doing a good job of working through all the criticism he's received. Surely, you know of all the criticism he's gotten, right? And it seems like, despite everybody "hating" him, he's done a good job. One of his edit summaries says, "i don't care if everybody hates me. i'm just doing my job." Despite all the criticism he got from all the other users on the project, he's still going strong and making lots of valuable edits.
He's updated 14 of the 30 season articles/game logs. 14 of them. Looking at the project page where he only agreed to monitor 4 articles and 2 standings templates, he's updated ALL of those that needed updating. And then he's updated the other 10 that he never agreed to be responsible for. Can you give any criticism at all to a guy who has gone above and beyond? Can you give any criticism to a guy who has done nearly 4X more than what he agreed to do? I think not. 166.129.189.183 16:03, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
There is no doubt that he's done a lot of work. I applaud him for his dedication. But he certainly does not need to be as petty and condescending as he has been. If you're familiar with his edits so much, you'll certainly have to agree with me. If he would just take a step back and not always think that his way is the right way, then I think more people would appreciate his hard work. I think that lesson would work well both now, and in the real world.
Oh yes, I almost forgot! Happy Mother's Day Mrs. 92003! X96lee15 16:11, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
First of all, his userpage says he's a high school junior. So I doubt there's a Mrs. Ksy92003, let alone her being a mother. It's possible, but I don't think so.
Second, I admit that he sometimes can get a little carried away. But I don't believe that he's truly as "petty" and "condescending" as his edits indicate. Clearly, his edits are in good faith and it appears that he is trying his hardest to improve the quality of all the articles/templates he's editing. It might not always work out, but I believe that he is truly trying his absolute hardest. Judging by his edits and his admission to being hated, it doesn't seem to me that he's the kind of person who would let his frustration get the best of him.
Actually, I think it would be good if you talked to him and talked about his being "petty" and "condescending". It might do a lot of good. And what you said earlier, "There is no doubt that he's done a lot of work. I applaud him for his dedication," maybe you should tell him that, also. It might ease him up a bit and make him less tense. And most likely it will lead him into not being as critical over minor details. I really think that'd be best. Do you think you could? 166.129.189.183 16:22, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
Ugh, I can't believe I'm continuing to reply, I guess I'm just bored waiting for the Pistons, Tigers and Red Wings to start (uh oh, am I allowed to say that here?). I guess we'll see if it gets reverted or not. Oh, I just realized...it's my Red Wings vs his Mighty Ducks for the Western Conference Championship. Interesting......
Anyway, back on track...I wrote "Mrs. 92003", not "Mrs. Ksy92003". Originally I wrote "Mrs. Ksy92003", but I thought that someone might think that I was talking about his wife. Because of that, I changed it to "Mrs. 92003" (with "92003" being Ksy's last name) so that people would think that I was inferring that it was his mother that was writing the comments. Obviously, it did not come across the way I wanted it to. I'm not really sure what I could have done to make it clearer, but next time I'll think things out better. X96lee15 16:33, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm just bored waiting for the Angels/Rangers game to start. And you can say that here, as this is a talkpage, not a Wikipedia discussion page. This will be interesting. To be honest, I want the Red Wings to win this game. So can you say that to him for me?
The thing about his wife/mother/whatever else, that honestly made me laugh. Don't worry about that. I misunderstood how you phrased it. I wasn't sure what you meant, but that didn't sound offensive to me. So don't worry, I'm sure that he won't think it was offensive, either.
So are you going to talk to Ksy92003 like I suggested? I'm just wondering. 166.129.189.183 16:41, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
For the record, I'm not really that much of a Ducks fan. To be honest, the only reason I put that on my userpage was because at the time, I was a little bit ashamed to call myself a Kings fan. So I put that I was a Ducks fan just to show that I'm a general hockey fan. But I've always been a Kings fan, and I always will. I've never been a Ducks fan, and I never will. Just wanted to get that across, as I saw above that you and the anon were minorly discussing this. --Ksy92003 19:09, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Accent marks

Alright. I don't remember where it was, but when I was working on the Ice Hockey Project, I was directed to a page that said that. Although I can't find it right now, I swear that I saw it.

Now, since this is the English Wikipedia, note that accent marks aren't used in the English language. The reason why Magglio Ordoñez has the "ñ" in his name is because in the Spanish language, "ñ" is one of the 30 letters in the alphabet. But accent marks aren't letters in Spanish, which is why I left the accent marks off of Rodriguez' name, but left the "ñ" on Ordoñez' name.

As a fluent Spanish speaker, I am aware of how the Spanish language is written in English and how the Spanish-native speakers write Spanish words that have accent marks in all-English sentences. Spanish-native speakers, when writing in all English, don't use accent marks when using proper nouns like "México." México has that accented "é", but when writing in English, simply write "Mexico." Notice the lack of an accent mark on the "e." I am fluent in both English and Spanish and am familiar with writing styles of Native English speakers and Spanish speakers. --Ksy92003 00:52, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Why don't you respond on your talk page? That way all the conversation is easily followable without having to go between pages.
Your explanation is all fine an dandy, but I don't see why it's necessary to change a wikilink that already exists. It is a waste of yours and everyone else's time. Also, if the player's article has the accent marks, then somebody has already made the decision the wikipedia should have accent marks for that persons's name. I just link to the title of an article. Redirects are dirty. X96lee15 01:00, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
First, I don't reply on my talk page because I want to make certain that the person I'm sending the comment to knows that I'm sending them a comment, and that New Message box at the top of the screen makes sure that you are aware.
Anyway, what I did wasn't a re-direct at all. And the player's article has accent marks because it's their article. The accent marks are already there in the opening sentence. But it honestly doesn't even look right if the accent marks are in the actual links. Don't you agree that Ivan Rodriguez looks better on the page than Iván Rodríguez? Or is ti just me? It's not really needed to put the accent marks # times in an article. I don't think it really makes that much of a difference as long as it's linked to the right page, which in Rodríguez' case, is with the accents. In my personal opinion, without the accent marks looks better in the link than with them. --Ksy92003 01:33, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Hey X96lee15. I just wanted to tell you that I left a comment on the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Baseball/2007 MLB team articles#Division standings. I put my opinion there and... well, I just wanted to get your feedback on my opinion. I'd appreciate it if you could. Thanks. --Ksy92003 16:06, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

The Running Man Barnstar
X96lee15, I award you this barnstar to reward you for all your countless edits to sports articles all across Wikipedia. 1,413 edits so far and virtually all of them on sports-related article. I congratulate you on an excellent job. --Ksy92003 16:45, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Alright... why?

Why do you think that is important? In my opinion, I think it isn't because whether he faced 27 batters or 47 batters, it still counts as a no-hitter, right? Him facing the minimum amount of batters doesn't change the fact that it was still a no-hitter. I think it should be enough just to say that he walked a batter... that's all.

And the way I see it is that the only reason you reverted me is because you feel that it is important. In my opinion, you were wrong to revert simply because you had a different opinion. What I think you should've done was, instead of revert me, discuss it on the talk page or on my talk page or somewhere else instead of simply reverting me.

I've been reverted several times today, and do you know how many times somebody has brought the revert to my attention? Once... only once, and that was only because it was part of a Wikiproject. That's all. I suggest you do the same.

Please don't revert me just because you have a different opinion. Please have some sort of discussion about it before you revert me again. Thank you. --Ksy92003 (talk) 04:47, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I reverted your change because you removed useful information from Wikipedia. The fact that he faced the minimum number of batters is an interesting bit of information that makes Wikipedia better.
And why did YOU revert it? You reverted it because "the bit about Sosa is too much detail, i [you] think". So the reason you removed it was your opinion. You didn't give a good enough reason for removing the factually-correct information, so I reverted it.
And why didn't I talk to you about it first? Because it's such a minor point that it doesn't need discussion. X96lee15 05:10, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

K / SO

Sorry about the most recent edits to the abbreviation of Strikeouts. When I was changing them, the thoughts of your previous reverts were in my mind. I was unaware of the official abbreviations page on MLB.com and, when looking at Strikeout, I assumed that the quote came from an official MLB source. I was wrong.

While I'm not going to go against Major League Baseball's official website, I disagree with that abbreviation; I still believe that K is the universal symbol for strikeout and that it would be too confusing to label it as SO and shutout as SHO. I also think K should be used because in statistics like "Strikeouts per 9 innings" and "Strikeouts per walk," the symbols for those are "K/9" and "K/BB," respectively. Plus, on channels like ESPN, in the bottomline, they say "9 K's," not "9 SO's." The strikeout meters spread throughout the ballpark always show "K," not "SO."

I think we can both agree that "K" is more commonly used by the general population. However, I am not going to go against an official source. As "SO" is the official term used by Major League Baseball, we have to include that, no matter what is used by the "general population." I'm sorry; my edits were from Wikipedia, which is an unreliable source; nobody can use Wikipedia to source itself...

It's also kinda weird because earlier yesterday, I was telling somebody else about how Wikipedia isn't reliable and can't cite itself because anybody in the whole world could edit it. That came up as I was discussion how 4chan.org couldn't be used as a source because it, too, has the ability of being altered in content by any other person. I find it ironic that I violated the same rule that I was warning another user of. Interesting, huh? --Ksy92003 (talk) 13:40, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

RE: Latin surnames

Alright. To be honest, in my 8+ years of Spanish-classes, I have never encountered a problem such as this. My reasoning for them being lowercased is because the translation of "de la" is "of the." In movie titles, book titles, etc., the words "of the" aren't capitalized except for being the first word of the title. Similarly, if his name begins a sentence, like "De la Rosa pitched 7 innings..." or something like that, the "De" would be capitalized due to being the first word of the sentence, and the word "la" being lower cased because, like "the," it would be lowercased in English in movie titles, book titles, etc.

In short, I used the lower-cased letters in his name because in English, they would be lower-cased after you translate it. --Ksy92003(talk) 06:57, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Also, whenever I've seen it written out in my Spanish classes, I've always seen it lower-cased, but I've never thought anything of it. But here's an example using the "of the" situation. Look at Planet of the Apes. The Spanish name for the movie is "El Planeta de los Monos." Notice how the "of the," "de los," is lower-cased in this movie title. --Ksy92003(talk) 15:08, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Chris Young (pitcher)

I think you reverted in support of the original, but your editing was a bit confusing. I am hoping you are on my side because the picture links to 6 main space articles. Starting pitcher and Bullpen are greatly improved with the uncropped image. --TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 23:22, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Haha, I was caught. I was merely trying to see what the cropped revision of the photo looked like. I had no intention of actually reverting the photo (I thought "rev" stood for "revision", not "revert"). I was intrigued by your discussions about the article and how it would be resolved. I like the high-resolution image that shows all the detail in the photo. At first, I couldn't figure out how you knew it was a four-seemed fastball, then I went to the img page and saw the "full" version. I also enjoyed the discussion/story of the rights of the photo. Good luck with your Featured Article. X96lee15 00:05, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

In reference to this template, could you please explain the PHP script you used? I have been working on a lot of game logs and this would really help. Thanks! Oh, forgot to say, I know you said on that talk page that there are some bugs, but I would still like to know the code anyway. jj137 21:13, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Still waiting for an answer here... :)   jj137 (Talk) 23:56, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Re: MLB roster templates

Yeah I really wasn't opposed to that part of it, but since I edit all the templates I knew that none of the other ones did it that way and I just wanted it to be consistent. I'm really fine with us using Restricted list only though.►Chris Nelson 02:43, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for those changes you made. The unnecessary piping, what I did was because there were only the last names in the pipes, I removed the last names, but thought that if I left the extra "|" after the first name, it would just cancel out. It displayed the way I wanted, but the source code, I didn't realize that it would pipe it to itself. Also, in case you were wondering, the reason why I made the changes to the template in the first place is because most of the other templates for Championship teams, most of them which I created:

  1. {{1961 New York Yankees}}
  2. {{1962 New York Yankees}}
  3. {{2000 New York Yankees}}
  4. {{2001 Arizona Diamondbacks}}
  5. {{2002 Anaheim Angels}}
  6. {{2003 Florida Marlins}}
  7. {{2004 Boston Red Sox}}
  8. {{2006 St. Louis Cardinals}}

All shared that format, which I got from {{1995 Atlanta Braves}}, and this was the only one that was different from the others, and to keep them all following the same format, I modified the White Sox' template to match the other format. Ksy92003(talk) 19:42, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Sidney

With regard to your recent edits of the Sidney disambiguation page, templates are useful for quick edits but they should not replace thoughtful editing. In fact, many argue that template use should be minimized, where possible, because of the demands that it makes on the servers. That is one reason why the subst: prefix exits. The reference to the Sidney surname page was not a see also, which the template forced you to use, it was a direct see reference, since none of the surnames were listed there it was a direct substitution, not an addition. Similarly, the hatnote was not for "more detail", there was no mention of name origin and usage, so the link was directly for the origin and usage. I hope that I haven't offended you. --Bejnar 23:41, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

No problem. I had thought that I kept the information the same, just standardized it. But I can see that the wording is a bit different. I'm of the "more templates the better". If, down the road, Wikipedia wants to change the format of "see also"s, then it just needs to be changed in the template, not in the thousands of articles that use the template. But that's not a discussion for a talk page :) Anyway, you have not offended me. X96lee15 23:54, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

College basketball schedules

Hi, I noticed that you have added schedules to some college basketball articles. It may be easier to use Template:CBB Schedule Start, Template:CBB Schedule Entry an Template:CBB Schedule End. Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball#2007-08 Schedule and Results uses these templates. Fbdave 22:30, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Concerning 2007 ALDS bug incident

Something wierd happened with my computer where it showed the pov statement being deleted instead of being changed back. I didn't intend on that sentance coming back, but somehow it did. Or.... Maybe its because I'm tired right now ;) Either way, I didn't mean to put the sentance back intentionally. Happy Editing!Icestorm815 03:48, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

No problem. I just had to give you a little grief :) X96lee15 03:49, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Huskie Stadium

I hate to be the one to say it but the move of Huskie Stadium to the longer name including Brigham Field was a bad move. First of all, Wikipedia:Naming conventions state the name of an article should be the most common name, not the official name. Huskie Stadium has been, and always will be known by only Huskie Stadium. Secondly, your edit summary implied that you are under the impression that "Brigham Field" is a new moniker for the venue, this is not the case, the field itself has been known as Brigham Field for at least several years. Unfortunately, to undo this move will require an admin. I will hunt one down to fix it, but I thought you should know this first. IvoShandor 00:46, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

I disagree. My rationale is that for stadiums/arenas/etc the article name should be the official name (which I think "BF at HS" is what it is -- if it isn't, then by all means, revert the move. It is the name used at the 50 yard line on the field though). Many stadiums have "nicknames" that are used, but the official name is the name of the WP article. I also think that since there exists Huskie Stadium and Husky Stadium, the longer name reduces confusion between the two. I do think you were reading too much into my edit summary; "new" was relative. But I can see your point too, so either way is fine with me. I think there currently exist WP articles that follow both conventions. X96lee15 01:14, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Your rationale flaunts naming convention policy, your issue could be taken up there. The best way to disambiguate the article would be Huskie Stadium (DeKalb, Illinois) not by using a long, complicated official names, imo. No one, and I mean no one, refers to this stadium as Brigham Field, a redirect there should be fine. Anyway, I think common names should reign, disambiguated where needed. IvoShandor 01:17, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
There doesn't seem to be a need to have ever moved the article, dab notices like at the top of Husky Stadium should be good. There doesn't appear to be any other "Huskie" or "Husky" stadiums on Wikipedia besides these two. If there are more we can create a disambiguation page. But, seeing as how the names were spelled differently, disambiguation doesn't seem to be justification for a move flaunting naming conventions on Wikipedia, which defaults to the most commonly used name, not the official name, even if it is painted on the field (which it usually only is for big big games if I recall correctly-i.e. homecoming). IvoShandor 01:25, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
For any concern over official names, painted on the field or otherwise, you can see in this photo, that what places are officially called are often wildly inconsistent. Which is why, I think, the Wikipedia naming convention using the most common name is a good one. IvoShandor 01:38, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

NBA Templates

I created the standings templates. To see the templates I created go to the Category:2007-08 NBA season.LADodgersAngelsfan 07:14, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

CBB Schedule Entry

I know the template still has its problems... but when you reverted my edits... it fails to align the last few columns in the right rows. I'm going to rerevert... but continue trying to fix not only the problem with the tv row, but also the problem with the attendance row.

If you could tell me exactly what is going on with the tv row... I'll see if I can fix it. Thanks for the heads up. Jazznutuva (talk) 07:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

I think I fixed it now... let me know if you see any problems. Jazznutuva (talk) 09:03, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it looks good now. X96lee15 (talk) 14:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Pistons Game Log

i decided to give you a bit of a hand with the game log, you missed the Knicks game but its the last time i do it. im going to take care of the cavs one from now on. i just want to ask from the pistons 07-08 season ,how do you edit the game log template? for all the other teams theres an option to edit it straight from the 07-08 season. this does not work with the pistons. what the easiest way? i updated the knicks game by just going to cavs and edited their template, which meant i went directly to the template page. then at the bottom there is nba templates. hope u can help Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 03:41, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

The game log is just a template that is linked into the Pistons season article. Edit this article here: {{2007-08 Detroit Pistons season game log}}. I'm not sure what the Pistons is different than the other NBA team game logs though. Thanks for updating it though. X96lee15 (talk) 15:36, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

An idea

I just want to ask on the game log for the Pistons under score, do you think it would be easier to always show the Pistons score first then the other team. That is how it is set up for the Celtics. I dont know, it just might be confusing always relating it to whether they are home or away. Anyway thats your choice, you saw from my last edit that its the last time i'll be helping you out. I dont have that much time on my hands! Happy wikipeding! Roadrunnerz45 (talk) 02:39, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
