Hubert Kupper
As the closing admin of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hubert Joseph Kupper, you might be interested: I recieved a response from the United States Marine Corps History Division today, and the wealth of information makes some of the claims to notability more plausible. I intend to request a copy of his service record, and if it pans out, I might ask you to restore the article so I can fix it with a solid reference. If not, it's an interesting FYI. bahamut0013wordsdeeds 19:33, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

New edit counter (nice!) + misses extraordinary namespaces
Hey Soxred93. Your new edit counter is sweet, so much quicker!

- Thanks Soap, beat me to it :). Tagged that account as having a repeating character when in reality it didn't. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 19:28, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- Fixed both. With the repeating characters, it was treating spaces as characters. With the WAIT_TILL_EDIT problem, it was due to the fact that it went into a loop where it would check over and over again, and if the contribution count was > 0, it would stop loopign and report. However, while it did this, if there was an HTTP error, which there is sometimes, it would read that as "greater than zero", and report. (X! · talk) · @996 · 22:53, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Finished translation for Edit Counter
Here is the Hebrew translation. Please note that I have tried to keep the translations widely accepted on the Hebrew Wikipedia in order for the tool to be understandable, but one or two of those is so incredibly ridiculous that I used another word to be understandable. Please note also that the script is right to left, which may create formatting glitches. I hope this won't be a problem in the long run. Cheers, —Ynhockey (Talk) 08:50, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Filter 287
Why is a 2.81 ms runtime "too slow"? I was rather proud of the job this filter just did on its intended target, too. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:37, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- Narrowed, now under 2 ms with not very many conditions. I reactivated as tag only for the moment. Please let me know if you have a problem with the new version. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:00, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I'm not going to say much here as it's a private filter, but I'm not really convinced of the effectiveness of this filter as-is. At 1.81ms we would hope that the filter is able to pick up pretty specific tracking, but it is very generic here and will miss quite a bit. Particularly, running lcase() on old_wikitext can be quite expensive because string manipulation is expensive as it is, and old_wikitext can be quite large (just think of how large it is for T:TDYK, for example). Preferably we can find something a little more specific to his MO. (This may be better to continue offline.) --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 23:46, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

To say that I'm unhappy that my edit counter, which has existed for well over a year and a half, which was based on many other edit counters which use the same features, which I've spent dozens of hours work on, which has resulted in over 800,000 hits, has been asked to make two features which has made it as popular as it is, is a large understatement. To have a whole opt-in/opt-out discussion seems ridiculous, like many people have already written here, since if you don't want your Wikipedia edits to be displayed, then you shouldn't really be editing here. This will help us when we change the entry to another desired username after SoxBot posts that. I hope that made sense. See this for an example. Note how the initially selected username was changed to another one after SoxBot tagged the initial username as being already in use (ignore the moving of the section). Global Optin
Tempted to revert the uncivil comment above, but you let them complain earlier so c'est la vie I guess. In any case, the new counter looks and works great, and I along with a few million others appreciate what you do.
To my original point, have you noticed that the global optin JS file really needs to be valid JS to avoid breaking other user JS pages which get loaded? I am running on google chrome (if that matters), and I noticed that when I originally posted an invalid text page at meta it broke my other scripts (twinkle/friendly and other monobook scripts). Changing to valid JS code seemed to fix the problem. I guess the reasoning for using the JS file is to make sure that others cannot add a JS page to a different user, so I guess you can't change the file type - but maybe it would make sense to provide users with a sample one line code fragment that won't break other scripts. If I'm mistaken on what's causing this feel free to trout me. Thanks again for all you do. 7 13:05, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's a known problem. Until the MW developers implement User:Example/Private subpages, which replicate the same features, this will have to remain. Sorry. (X! · talk) · @594 · 13:15, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Editcounter translation (bn)
Hey X!, I translated your new edit counter into bn. I see few problems there. Since anybody can submit translation, I think someone sent something wrong and you updated that with that mistakes. I've already sent a correction, but it isn't updated yet. Can you fix them? Another problem is Bengali characters (translation of namespace) are not showing when I point my mouse on month count graph (what tells the percentages of edit in each namespace). What it shows is some eccentric characters. Pie charts also have lacking in Bengali script rendering. Hope you got it. If you need more to know, please let me know.
