I noticed that you were new and/or have yet to receive any messages so I just thought I'd pop in to say "hello". We're glad to have you in our community! I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it's so big but we won't bite so Be Bold and get what you know down in microchips! If you do make a mistake, that's fine, we'll assume good faith and just correct you: it'll take a few seconds maximum! I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. Redirect of Winmysoul.com

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Winmysoul.com, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Winmysoul.com is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

Decatur High School image

Unless the building was torn down, the image you uploaded cannot use that license because the image is *repeatable* - Anyone from the Atlanta area can go and take a photo of Decatur High School. WhisperToMe (talk) 23:27, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Look, taking down the picture is not relevant to Wikipedia:Assume good faith - I never assumed bad faith by taking down the picture. However an improper license is one of the criteria for Wikipedia:Speedy_deletion#Images_and_media - that can take place at any time, with no warning. That says nothing about the motivations of the person who posted it. You had good intentions by posting the image. It's just that an improper license = the image can go at any time. The page says "Non-free images or media with a clearly invalid fair-use tag (such as a {{Non-free logo}} tag on a photograph of a mascot) may be deleted at any time." However, if you live in the Atlanta area, you are welcome to drive or otherwise travel to the DHS site, take your own photograph, and use that. When you do so please upload it to the Commons. As for unreferenced stuff, I am allowed to add a cite tag, and I am also allowed to delete it on sight. Sometimes it depends on the type of claim. On many school articles I entirely remove uncited material. Remember that WP:V has this quote: "I can NOT emphasize this enough. There seems to be a terrible bias among some editors that some sort of random speculative 'I heard it somewhere' pseudo information is to be tagged with a 'needs a cite' tag. Wrong. It should be removed, aggressively, unless it can be sourced. This is true of all information, but it is particularly true of negative information about living persons." - So some information can be removed right away. The answers are no, I read it repeatably; yes, but not with a hyperlink; and not SLIGHTLY." - The reason why alumni lists that are unreferenced and other unreferenced lists of people will be going is because of a strictly enforced policy called Wikipedia:BLP - This is a very important policy; it states that information on living people must be referenced. Removing the entire unreferenced list is an easy, immediate corrective action that satisfies BLP. You can then use the earlier revision to work your way up and source the list. While BLP technically doesn't apply to dead people, I still remove the whole list (or pick out referenced bits and keep them) as it is easier to do this. As for why remove first and source later, there is "the burden of proof is on those who wish to retain, restore, or undelete disputed material." and "Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about living persons — whether the material is negative, positive, or just questionable — should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion, from Wikipedia articles, talk pages, user pages, and project space." (both from BLP)

You are free to upload a new photo at the filename Dhs front1.jpg, where the old photo was. Please upload the new image (that you took with your digital camera, or a properly licensed image from Flickr) to the commons as "Dhs front1.jpg" - then you can put "Dhs front1.jpg" in the image field of Decatur High School (Georgia). I do have access to the old revision of the image, as I am an administrator. The way to "fix" this is to upload a new image that complies with the policy.

"Your action is within policy, but left me less willing to contribute. " - Wslack, BLP and copyright policies are very important to Wikipedia. Please understand that immediate corrective actions like removing unreferenced alumni lists and deleting obviously improper licensed images are needed and justified. Update: Alright, look what I found: http://www.flickr.com/photos/wardomatic/149020529/ - If this person agrees to relicense this image to Creative Commons Sharealike, I can use this photo on Wikipedia! Since it is under a username it is likely that he took it. Custom signature fix needed

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error, specifically formatting tags that are in the wrong order.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Change the signature as shown below, or make other edits to make the signature appear how you want it to appear.
  3. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.
