Need help with citing
[edit]I have some sources I would like to cite for my article, but I am a bit confused as to how I would go about citing them. I read the articles on citing from websites and I'm a little confused as to the format. One particular web site I would like to cite is www.thedjlist.com and the page with info on Elucidate is http://www.thedjlist.com/djs/ELUCIDATE/
There are several other websites with info I would like to cite but I'm pretty sure once you point me in the direction of the correct citing format I will be able to get them into the article properly.
Thank you for all your help!

Elucidate
[edit]Hi,
Oh boy -- the case for notability here is going to be hard to make. Both these guys are anonymous, and no third-party reliable sources are listed in the article yet (their own webpage is not a reliable indicator, for obvious reasons.) Basically, the best claim to notability they have now is that they are broadcast globally. The author needs to rewrite the article with a better intro (see here); encyclopedia articles should be a bit like newspaper ones, in that they should state the most important things -- "globally famous" -- first. This article doesn't do that well, and if it were posted now, it would stand a high chance of being speedied as an A7.
One possibility, if Sean insists on posting it now, is that you could post it, and I could immediately AfD it: this would at least give Sean five days to make his case at AfD, and save him from being speedied. Really, though, there has be a reliable source stating this group's "claim to fame" if they are to have an article in the long run. Best wishes, Xoloz 16:50, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit]SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

Removing the Elucidate article
[edit]Hello, I wanted to thank you for your help with the Elucidate article. I have decided that it will most likely be deleted if we try to re-post it, and I have been unable to find any magazine articles on Elucidate. So, I was wondering how I would go about removing the article from my user page. Thanks for your help!
Cheers,

AMA Request for Vicente Vicente
[edit]Hello, I see that you've taken on Vicente Vicente's request for assistance regarding the article, List of Ohio State University people. Hopefully, I can shed some light on the situation. V-V has been vandalizing the page for at least 6 months now. Often dozens of times in the same week. He rarely logs in, but you'll be able to see a pattern of the same vandalism under different isp's from the same region (68-70). His main objection is remonving a list of Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners from the alumni section. Recently he has replaced their entries with Barbara Tuchman. Early on, myself and Rkevins82 tried repeatedly to engage him in a discussion on the matter. All that we received in response were rather crazy accusations that we were the ones vandalizing the page. On the article's previous talk page (which has somehow been deleted) I posted external links to the official biographies of all of these individuals showing that they had in fact graduated from Ohio State. We also asked him to post any information showing that they had NOT graduated from Ohio State or to detail what his concerns were about these entries, but only received semi-lucid responses of us being vandals and posting incorrect information in response. Other than constantly revert his edits, I don't know what to do at this point. I'm unsure whether this all some game to him, or other issues are at play. It, however, does make an interesting contrast to the usual football related vandalism that strikes an Ohio State article. Thanks for your assisatance in this manner.--Sam Harmon 17:17, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:CSD Logo.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:CSD Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Roosereview.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Roosereview.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 04:42, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
