Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited William de Bois Maclaren, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Herbert Wright (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

AfD and PROD notifications
Hi Wimvandorst,
Back in November, you got either an AfD or PROD notification, which was part of the template testing project's experiments. If you could go here and leave us some feedback about what you think about the new versions of the templates we tested (there are links to the templates), that would be very useful. (You can also email me at mpinchukwikimedia.org if you want.) Thanks! Maryana (WMF) (talk) 22:07, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Hello!
Hey, Wim, how are you! I felt like it was 2005 again - I looked at my watchlist and there was Wimvandorst editing Sodium sulfate! I was just wondering how you're doing. I'm still teaching organic chemistry at SUNY Potsdam, but things are going well. Cheers, Walkerma (talk) 20:03, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Martin, so you still have that page on your watchlist too? After all those years, we still didn't succeed in making FA, though :). I'm great, every now and then doing some editing on Wikipedia, but no major edit sprees, I must admit. Nowadays, I am also working on another source of public information: [1], so I must spread my efforts. And map making for my personal GPSr is an awfully nice pastime. Of course your page is also on my watchlist, so I did keep tabs on your activities: you're doing good work, although I see that since 2008 you've slacked a bit as well :). Keep up the good work. And some day we'll finish that Na2SO4 page :D!
- Yes, we all get distracted, don't we! I have done a lot off-wiki on WP:1, though much less there over the last year, too. My projects have been this in 2010 (I was conference chair), and this currently. Both wikis, too! But I'd like to get back to some basic editing of chemistry articles again some time. All the best, Walkerma (talk) 21:08, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
GOCE May drive wrap-up
Guild of Copy Editors May 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 54 people who signed up this drive, 32 copy-edited at least one article. Last drive's superstar, Lfstevens, again stood out, topping the leader board in all three categories and copy-editing over 700 articles. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We were once again successful in our primary goal—removing the oldest three months from the backlog—while removing 1166 articles from the queue, the second-most in our history. The total backlog currently sits at around 2600 articles, down from 8323 when we started out just over two years ago. Coodinator election: The six-month term for our third tranche of Guild coordinators will be expiring at the end of June. We will be accepting nominations for the fourth tranche of coordinators, who will also serve a six-month term. Nominations will open starting on June 5. GOCE July 2012 Copy Edit Drive
Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors
The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their July 2012 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on July 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on July 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to eliminate the articles tagged in April, May and June 2011 from the queue and to complete all requests placed before the end of June. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 6 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in April–June 2011", and "Longest article". Orphaned non-free media (File:International Paint logo.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:International Paint logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:02, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Scouting Portal - State og Georgia
Sir,
I co-wrote The History of Chehaw Council (in Georgia, USA). Years ago I posted much of the first Georgia section of the Boy Scout history on Wikipedia and some of it is still around in bits. But, most of it has been butchered beyond recognition and is just now wrong. The book and thousands of photos are free on the internet. The book is non-profit. We are giving back to scouting some of what it gave to us. The book contains detailed research on the formation of Scouting in Georgia back to 1910, including "The Georgia Plan" and even a list of the original committee members.
You are welcome to rebuild the article from it. I will be glad to send it to you in Microsoft Word if that would make it easier. If you can "lock" the article so that only someone (not me) who knows what they are doing can approve edits, I would be willing to rewrite the Georgia page(s) in Wiki format. I just don't want to spend the time and have them go away as the result of well-meaning but ill-advised changes.
I would appreciate the courtesy of a response even if you don't wish to have my help so that I know you got this message.

WP Chemicals in the Signpost
The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Chemicals for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. -Mabeenot (talk) 05:46, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the August 2012 competition, and prizes will be issued soon. The September 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Raymond-Macherot-1979.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Raymond-Macherot-1979.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 03:30, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
