Speedy deletion nomination of User:WilliamPinyon/
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on User:WilliamPinyon/, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. - No intent to spam, signed up for Wikipedia this morning, was offered to create my personal page and I cut and pasted my bio. My apologies.

- Mr Pinyon, welcome to Wikipedia. No worries about the bio; the instructions for newcomers are less clear than they might be. Wikipedia user pages are not like social-network-site ones; they are intended mainly for contributors to say something about themselves and their Wikipedia work, to help communication within the project. Their use is explained at WP:NOTWEBHOST:
"Wikipedians have their own user pages, but they should be used primarily to present information relevant to working on the encyclopedia. Limited biographical information is allowed, but user pages should not function as personal webpages or be repositories for large amounts of material that is irrelevant to collaborating on Wikipedia. If you are looking to make a personal webpage or blog or to post your résumé, please make use of one of the many free providers on the Internet or any hosting included with your Internet account."
- The main advice page about them is WP:User pages. The reason we are a bit sensitive about this is that many new users join thinking that Wikipedia is another social-networking site like Facebook, and have no interest in contributing to the encyclopedia but only want to develop elaborate Facebook-style user pages about themselves.
- I have left your user page on this account, but someone else might nominate it for deletion: I suggest that you read the advice above and then trim it down very considerably, to be mainly about those aspects of your career which might be relevant to the contributions you plan to make to the encyclopedia.
- I see that, no doubt by accident, you have created a second account, user WilliamPinyon/ (talk) with a / on the end. There isn't any way to delete accounts, so the best thing to do with that one would be to abandon it. If you like, you could put a note on its user and talk pages directing people to your real ones.
