I'm trying to find a word
[edit]Does anyone know the word for interoffice conflict, backbiting and self destruction in an organization. I'm thinking it sounds like intercery and I know that's not correct because I have looked everywhere and can't find a word like that. Help!!!

One Circuit
[edit]Hello, Will Pittenger. The updates you did for Miller Motorsports Park looks great. Could you do a map for Heartland Park Topeka? It has four configurations. Thank you for your time. Fclass (talk) 21:13, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Have you gone to the Heartland Park Topeka website? Click on "the road course." Then, click on "configs." You will see all four configurations. Fclass (talk) 17:35, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
The map is correct. I checked the website myself. Thank you. Do you use Inkscape to make the maps? If yes, how do you upload the image on Inkscape? I know the tracing part, but it doesn't explain how to upload the image.Fclass (talk) 21:45, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the information. I don't know anything about the dirt track at Heartland Park Topeka. I assume the dirt track is an oval because all dirt tracks in the USA are ovals. Fclass (talk) 14:28, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Another Circuit
[edit]Hey, Will Pittenger, it's Fclass, again. I have one more request. After this, you won't hear from me again. Could you do a map for Pacific Raceways? It's a road course in the state of Washington. Thanks for your time. Fclass (talk) 15:48, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Are you going to do more curcuit maps? Fclass (talk) 15:49, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I recently went to your blog. The Circuit de la Sarthe map is fine. There's no need to change it or alter it. Fclass (talk) 20:56, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
I visited the Bugatti Circuit page. I thinks it's not right for you to erase another map that was fine to begin with. I'm just saying. Fclass (talk) 16:56, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Bugatti Circuit
[edit]Is the map of the Bugatti Circuit a modern one? It says 1967. If it's not, can you please make a map of the current Bugatti Circuit? Fclass (talk) 19:41, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
You're right. I apologize. Since I'm here, could you do a map for Waterford Hills Road Racing Track? Fclass (talk) 15:26, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
Editing other people's work
[edit]Could you not edit a circuit map when the circuit map is fine and okay? It doesn't matter if it's png or svg or whatever. If it's accurate, leave it alone. How would you feel if somebody deleted your work for no reason? Fclass (talk) 05:48, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The other map was correct. You didn't need to delete it. What's the status on Waterford Hills Road Racing Track? Forget Scandinavian Raceway. It's restored. And please don't erase it. It's perfect. Fclass (talk) 11:38, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Hey, Will, somebody messed up your circuit map of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. I tried to fix it, but I wasn't successful. Fclass (talk) 16:35, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Forget it, man, I fixed it. Some troll messed with your svg. image of Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and put that older, outdated png. image back. I fixed it. Fclass (talk) 16:42, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Hey, Will, I just visited your blog. It says you have new versions of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Nurburgring, Ain-Diab Circuit, and Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours. If you have the svg. image, could you put it up? Fclass
I can be contradictory in some areas. Fclass —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.185.49.151 (talk) 15:09, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Hello, Will. Your svg. image of Heartland Park Topeka looks good. Could you do the same for Rockingham Motor Speedway? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.2.60.98 (talk) 18:37, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Hey, Will, do you have the new additions to Lime Rock Park? 209.2.60.98 (talk) 18:50, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Possible typo in Image:Downtown Detroit Street Circuit.svg
[edit]Hi Will. Thanks for your great work with motor racing track maps. I noticed what appears to be a typo in Image:Downtown Detroit Street Circuit.svg - I think "Chyrsler" should be "Chrysler". Cheers. DH85868993 (talk) 13:09, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
- Also, in Image:Estroril.svg (which should be Image:Estoril.svg?), "Aryton Senna" should probably be "Ayrton Senna". DH85868993 (talk) 15:09, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Circuit map replacements
[edit]Just a request for you to take care when replacing circuit maps with SVG's. I noticed, for example, you replaced the map on 1994 San Marino Grand Prix with the post-95 layout. Also, I believe the 'Wikipedia house style' with circuit maps is to use a sans-serif font for circuit map corner numbers and names. If you could bear that in mind in future, that'd be great. Thanks for taking the time to do the maps, AlexJ (talk) 19:31, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Sans-serif fonts would clearly make the maps look more professional (not Arial, though!) and you should get rid of the dashing as well. Also, I noticed that corners in your versions are not as definite as they are in reality, like if they were smoothed. The numbers in the bubbles are way too big, and the bubbles' edges should be thicker. I think the set of circuit maps you replaced were esthetically perfect, you should go for something similar. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.238.70.8 (talk) 14:52, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
There's nothing like Serif fonts are better or worse than Sans-serif fonts. Both have a reason for existence, books are printed with Serif fonts for minimal eye strain, while headlines and logos stand out better in Sans-serif. The Formula One franchise prefers Sans-serif fonts on screen, on posters and official materials for whatever reason. You should mind that Wikipedia uses Sans-serif as well. You may not be troubled by the inconsistency, but some might be (I am). I absolutely appreciate your efforts and very much favour SVG graphics. Choosing the appropriate font seems to be a minor task compared to tracking the satellite images so precisely as you do, but it affects the result enormously. Please consider changing fonts (I'm happy to help you).
As for the dashing, I think it adds some clutter. Maybe you should just mark the sector boundaries with a filled circle. Thank you, and keep up the good work! 85.238.70.8 (talk) 20:59, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
One More Request
[edit]Is it possible for you to do a map of Circuit Trois-Rivières? This is my last request. 209.2.60.98 (talk) 19:20, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Edmonton Indy track SVG
[edit]Just a note, the Turn you have marked as Turn 11, is actually Turns 11 & 12. It was noted on the "final laps" video of this year's Edmonton Indy on indycar.com that Scott Dixon let the car drift out wide at Turn 12 before reaching the last two turns 13 & 14. TheChrisD Rants•Edits 23:52, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for catching that. I should have a fix uploaded sometime tonight. I rely on a variety of sources. In that case, I relied on the existing image for that bit of data. Will (Talk - contribs) 00:39, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Hi!
Regarding your request on my cs: talk page: the image has been tagged with {{PD-link}} on cs: Wikipedia, by its author, cs:User:Jiří Žemlička. AFAIK, that is the correct license that should be there (unless some modifications to the image have been licensed under a different license).

Okay, if you can't do a map of Circuit Trois-Rivières, could you do a map of Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg? It's an Indycar race. 209.2.60.98 (talk) 19:16, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Road America image problems
[edit]Your edits to the images in the article completely screwed the images up on my 1024 x 768 monitor. There's about a 2 screen tall gap in the middle of the article's text. What are you trying to fix? The best solution for that problem can't cause huge gaps in the text like that. I'd rather see an image gallery on the bottom that keep the article like it is now. I've worked a lot on image placement in articles. Please reply back here on your talk page; I just added it to my watchlist. Royalbroil 23:41, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- MediaWiki has problems with a long list of thumbs in a column. This causes the edit links for sections to bunch up at the last section along those thumbs. You see something similar on the same page that I wasn't able to fix. It's right at the bottom of the infobox. The fix is normally to bunch the thumbs up inside a div that floats. However, you might verify that you have the latest version of the page by purging the page. I saved on accident before I closed the div. This caused the problem you described. Will (Talk - contribs) 04:10, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- The problem persists after purging. I'm looking at the page using Firefox. When I load it using Internet Explorer on the same computer, it looks better but not right. The text is limited to a small section on the left had size with a huge gap left of the pictures. Is what you're attempting to fix important? If so, how about changing to a gallery at the bottom? Royalbroil 05:40, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Laguna Seca image
[edit]Will, why did you erase the other Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca image? It was an .svg image. It had the names and everything. You didn't have to erase it. It was the same thing. The next time you see an .svg image, LEAVE IT ALONE!!! If you erase a perfectly good .svg image, I will report your vandalism to the administrators. 209.2.60.98 (talk) 18:09, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
- Characterizing it as vandalism is unfair and wrong (I'm an administrator). It's a different image with some text and numbering changes. Both are .SVG images. The previous image was not erased. Will Pittenger is not an admin on Wikimedia Commons so he could not delete the image. Royalbroil 18:32, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Hey, Will, I'd like to apologize for my comments. They were out of line and unfair. I hope you accept my apology. 209.2.60.98 (talk) 15:37, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Will, I'm sorry for my actions. They were uncalled for and out-of-line. Please forgive me. 209.2.60.98 (talk) 14:15, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

St. Pete GP maps
[edit]Hi there! The maps themselves look great, and they are great appreciated! The only issue I've seen with them is the naming of the streets themselves, which is kinda knit-picky. On two of the maps (current and 1985-91), you have # St "SW" or # Ave "NW". There's no "W" streets or avenues in St. Pete; they're either NE, SE, N, or S (based on their location to Central Ave and 1st St). Also, the 96-00 map has no markers at all; other than Central Ave (which never gets a marker, since it divides the city itself), all the roads listed (other than I-175, of course) should have "S" after them. If it's possible to make a quick and easy fix, that would be great. If not, no big deal, because, like I said, it's minor. The maps are fantastic otherwise. Keep up the great work! Chengdu Goldenport Circuit track map request
[edit]Hey Will, I was wondering whether it would be possible for you to create a map for the Chengdu Goldenport Circuit? It was just announced to be on the A1 Grand Prix calendar for this season, and it looks as if the article could do with some work on it. Biggest change of all would be a track map!
Many thanks for all your work! TheChrisD Rants•Edits 12:07, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I need to locate it before I can make a map. Sorry. Google Earth doesn't show much. I have reason to believe that what it does show for the area is badly out of date. (Many of the ring ring roads are not visible. In fact, GE shows only a few roads in its road layer.) If you have Inkscape, you could trace the image on their website and go with that. Will (Talk - contribs) 12:08, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, it does look really out-of-date. The Shi Sheng Road doesn't even appear to be built in Google's maps... That's a pity. TheChrisD Rants•Edits 12:42, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh sorry, my bad. I haven't really used those templates all that much so I wasn't sure how exactly they worked on other pages... TheChrisD Rants•Edits 09:36, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
My requests
[edit]Since you do take requests, I have three. They are: Buttonwillow Raceway Park, Donington Park, and Summit Point Motorsports Park. That is all. Noble12345 (talk) 15:23, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Donington Park will host the British Grand Prix beginning in 2010. Hermann Tilke is supposed to do some changes. It wouldn't make sense to do a map of the circuit now. So, don't. Noble12345 (talk) 17:43, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
- What is the green net thing on the Buttonwillow Raceway Park track map? It's covering up Zorro's Corner. Noble12345 (talk) 14:21, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it looks good to me. I don't see anything wrong. Noble12345 (talk) 17:06, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Is there a reason why Shenandoah Circuit is not available? Also, could you do Virginia International Raceway and Macau Guia? Noble12345 (talk) 19:19, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
United State Grand Prix West track map
[edit]The image you added is not the track map of the circuit used by the United States Grand Prix West. I reverted the change so that the map corresponds to the correct track layout of the races described in the article. --Jasgrider (talk) 06:41, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
In continuation to "Template loop"
[edit]I asked another Wikipedian, with whom I consult often about template-related problems, to have a look at your template. This is our conversation. Perhaps you'll find some good advise in it.
I have 1 unfixed template loop left in Category:Template loop warnings. It is User:Will Pittenger/templates. This user is himself an experienced template maker. See his talk page that he also doesn't know how to fix it. The problem doesn't seem to be just technical, more conceptual. Do you have any good ideas? Debresser (talk) 21:53, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- For starters: He is mixing wikimarkup and HTML markup for the table code, which means I can't even see which pipes "|" belong to the table code and which belong to the if-cases and template parameter separators.
- So I recommend that the first thing he/you should do is to change the entire code to only use HTML markup for the table code, and indent the code properly. Thus making it readable. Then you can start to study the code to try and find out what is causing the errors. Often we already find many of the bugs while doing such basic clean-up.
- --David Göthberg (talk) 01:26, 23 March 2009 (UTC)
Would you mind me trying to fix it? It's your userpage after all, so I have to ask. Debresser (talk) 20:21, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
Congratulations! I fixed it. You asked me to make test edits in a sandbox, but that wouldn't have worked. All in all it took me 3 edits to User:Will Pittenger/templates/Where I Have Been Tool Available. The first edit to check whether the problem was indeed what I thought, the second to fix it, and the third to fix a minor detail that had slipped my mind.
The result: User:Will Pittenger/templates/Where I Have Been Tool Available looks precisely as it always did, both on its own page as well as upon transclusion or substitution. With the one exeption of the transclusion onto User:Will Pittenger/templates, where the template loop occurred. On that page it will refer the reader to the appropriate sections on that same page.
If you think that my choice of words is still unclear and might give rise to misunderstanding, you could change it to any other phrase which you feel is more clear, e.g. "When you use this template on your userpage, it will display here the table shown below in section ..." I am sure whatever phrase you will choose, the result is now significantly better than showing the reader a template loop.
Please feel free to write me on my talkpage, Debresser (talk) 01:31, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey Will, I noticed someone on the 2009 Hungarian GP talk page mentioning a couple of problems with the current version of the Hungaroring track map.
- Turns 2 and 5 aren't actually considered turns on the course - there are 14 official turns rather than 16.
- The chicane is highlighted even though very few series still currently use it. Perhaps it could be left shaded out while the main straight is bolded instead?
TheChrisD Rants•Edits 14:49, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Your image of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve doesn't seem to load right in thumbnail form on any of the pages where its supposed to show up in an infobox. I'm seeing the problem with Firefox 3.5.3 & IE 6 and 8. I also notice another user complains the thumbnail form isn't showing up with Google Chrome on Talk:Circuit_Gilles_Villeneuve. Apmiller (talk) 03:04, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- There are several issues with this diagram I have noticed. The hairpin has not been named "Pits Hairpin" since the pits were moved to their present location, now known as L'Épingle and referred unofficially in English as Casino Hairpin. The "Pont de la Concorde" is the bridge before your turn 9, not near your turn 7. The Casino Straight (Droit du Casino) is not known as the "Virage". The sector colours you have used do not correspond to your legend. Finally, the turns you have numbered 1 and 12 are not officially numbered leaving the track with only 13 corners. Mount Panorama Circuit
[edit]Outstanding work on Mount Panorama map compared to previous version, and your continued work on racing circuit maps.
A small critique if you don't mind. A few corner names are not quite correct. Slightly odd to see Quarry in use for Griffin's Bend. It's not wrong, it's just Quarry was the original name and used up until about the 1950s. Similarly Griffin's Mount is a rather old name although it has never had a consistent name since. The Dipper is actually corner 14, refered thus as the track plunges sharply mid corner. Forrests Elbow is corner 18, corner 19 has never really had a name beyond the kink in Conrod Straight. [edit]Why why? Why did you change the picture? Example the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix. they may find it hard to accept the new picture. By the way, the picture seems to b worst than the normal picture. Aquadeias 10:39, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Fixed Hungaroring map
[edit]I've fixed your Hungaroring graphics (removed the 2 corner labels, grayed out the chicane), I kept the desing the same as before. Of course, because you created the original file I think I need an approval from your to upload the fixed one. I can send you the SVG and have a look at it if you wish. If you don't give permission to upload the new one I won't, I have no intention to ruin your work.

Track Map Le Mans - German Lemma of the 24 Hour Race
[edit]Hi Will, you change the Track Map of de Circuit de Sarthe on the German Lemma. Sorry, we discussed it and changed it back to the older one. Greetings. -- Erika39 (talk) 17:04, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
New Albert Park Grand Prix SVG
[edit]Lovely work, very small criticism, Turn 3 where you have labelled White Ford is actually one word, named for three time Australian Grand Prix winner, Doug Whiteford, who also won the original Albert Park Grand Prix in 1953. Also, the driver names scattered about the circuit are not corner names, but grandstand names.
How difficult might it be to indicate the original GP track, which was an anti-clockwise circuit, on this map? --Falcadore (talk) 02:58, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- No, not the only change. Basically the 1953 circuit followed the road. Chicanes are a modern invention so none of those existed in the 1950s, neither did the front straight and pit complex section, the circuit followed that long natural sweeper that runs behind the pits from turns 15 to turn 2. Not completely sure about how the extreme left hand end of the circuit worked, I'll get back to you if sufficiently interested. --Falcadore (talk) 05:03, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
