Hi. As a supporting editor, could you please take a look at the outstanding source question and leave any thoughts you might have on it? Thanks. Apterygial 01:50, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Lap Leaders in infobox

[edit]

Hi AlexJ. I like the idea of the lap leaders section of the infobox being collapsible - my implementation was only intended as a "quick and dirty" solution so that the information would be visible straight away - I was worried that if we started removing the info from Notes sections but it wasn't visible in the infobox then editors who were unaware of the discussion at WT:F1 might start putting the info back in the Notes sections. But I realise now that I forgot to tell anyone else that! I also like the revised graphical format; I think it's important to have the lap numbers spelled out so that readers don't have to try to work them out from the scale. DH85868993 (talk) 12:34, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AlexJ. One minor point: I think the template should be "Template:F1Laps2009" not "Template:F1Laps2010". DH85868993 (talk) 22:20, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Map

[edit]

Salut. I noticed at commons that you have drawn some GP maps before. Would you still be able to draw one if I send you a scan from a book (I don't believe it currently exists at commons)? Apterygial 11:40, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, the detail of the track is clear and it looks very accurate. My one question is whether it would be possible to label more towns (la Ferté at the northern corner and Le Mans at the western corner, for example). I think it would help me a lot when I'm writing the article. But, wow, that's fantastic! I owe you one. Apterygial 22:59, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean by the white space. Perhaps we could just label the corners of the track with those names, rather than the towns themselves (so just have have Le Mans at the western corner just like you have Saint-Calais at the Southern one, and the same with la Ferté-Bernard at the North). Perhaps also Vibraye and Ardenay could be labelled as well, if you wouldn't think it would be too much detail. But overall I'm very impressed. Apterygial 22:51, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:43, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know, I've made a (very belated) start to the article. Apterygial 04:42, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Connerré

[edit]

Don't know if you saw my note on the talk page, but I'll post it here just in case. I just noticed: the map has Connerré without the accent over the "e". Cheers, Apterygial 03:55, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another point: I'd like you to join me in a co-nomination when the article is at FAC. You would know the article just about as well as I do now, and apart from the text the rest is essentially your work. You deserve more recognition for that than a simple mention in the nom statement. Apterygial 07:01, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is about more than writing. Anyway, as co-nom, you can deal with problems raised when I'm offline, which happens a lot when you live in Australia. I'll nominate the article now when we both seem to be on, just add your name to the nominators' line. Apterygial 22:48, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I really appreciated your help on the article, and all your replies to comments and fixes during the FAC itself. Now for FA number six... Apterygial 23:34, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see the video didn't do so well though. Apterygial 23:44, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The full race from the BBC is available on YouTube. Part 6 features this quote. By this time Steve Rider had said that Senna had a massive head injury. 88.109.6.12 (talk) 08:18, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, make that the end of Part 5. 88.109.6.12 (talk) 08:49, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, but still is it relevant enough to be mentioned in the lead? Walker probably said a thousand other things about the race, yet we also don't mention those. The idea of the article is to place things into some kind of historical overview rather than quote everything that was said at the time, regardless of the context it was said in. AlexJ (talk) 12:47, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GB Cup

[edit]

Have you thought about maybe creating a navbox to link the GB races together? They should probably all be in a category too (such as Category:Gordon Bennett Cup races (motorsport), or some such). This would increase links in, at least. Apterygial talk 07:33, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bueno. I just had a brief glance at one of the articles and that jumped out as being missing. Apterygial talk 10:01, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re:1980 Spanish GP

[edit]

Jones's quotation is actually from Autocourse, which reported what he wrote. I assume it's Motor, not Motor Sport magazine (although not the one you linked to, as there is a disambiguation note about it not being confused with an Australian title of the same name).--Midgrid(talk) 18:33, 1 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Motorsport map project

[edit]

Hey Alex,

Since there's not much movement in your discussion over at WT:MOTOR, I thought I might bring the discussion here, because I think your proposal is something that the motorsport pages desperately need. I've noticed a lot of inconsistency in some of the map styles, which needs to be addressed. I should warn you in advance that I have no skills in drawing, so I'm not going to be much use in implementing the actual project. But, here are my thoughts.

The maps need to be uniformly consistent. There should be one agreed-upon style. Personally, I feel that a map which fits a 3:2 portrait format is best. I think the circuit map that appears here is a perfect example of what the maps should look like: it is large, it is clear, and it is free of clutter. Compare that to this map, which I think is far too small and almost unreadable, and this map, which has far too much information on it; information that would be better-suited to the infobox. And this map, which is wrong (some of the corners have been changed slightly in the time since this map was drawn).

That's pretty much the direction I think the maps need to go. I know it's a major undertaking, but it needs to be addressed. The inconsistency hurts the pages, even if they are not the most critical issue at the moment.

If you do reply to this, can you please leave a message on my talk page? Sometimes I lose track of who I am having conversations with, particularly if we limit the discussion to one talk page. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 10:16, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's exactly the kind of thing I think we need to thrash out and decide. I hadn't even considered showing it in portrait, although I would say that it takes up the same amount of space as the rest of the infobox combined in this format. As you say, this is going to be a pretty big undertaking, so I don't want to get halfway through for someone to say "Hey, it would be better this way" and to start changing all the maps out pointing to no consensus.
There's a lot to do aside from just drawing the maps - checking the scale, corner names and layout would be needed for each one, not to mention making sure we get the right version of each map into the articles. AlexJ (talk) 19:08, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You and I agree on this. That's a form of consensus. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 22:40, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Circuit maps

[edit]

Hi! I'm an italian user and admin of it.wiki and I've seen today your work about circuit maps of Formula 1 track. I think it's a very important work and I made in this months a similar one to have all the circuit images founding reliable source and references; you can see a part of this work in this page. As you can see in an article about a single Grand Prix, you can find in all the article the correct track image, so you can use it to do the other with the same standard graphics. I have to admit that i don't like so much this type of image because they have poor information, but this a decision of en.wiki and I don't want to interfere. If you want some help to find the correct track images leave me a message on my talk on it.wiki because I'm sure to read your message there rather than my user talk here in en.wiki. Thank you very much of this work! Regards. Restu20 00:36, 11 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Wales Coast Path WikiProject

[edit]

I see you're a member of WikiProject Wales and have contributed to Welsh articles. There's a new project, Llwybrau Byw!|Living Paths! under development which you might be able to contribute to. Lonely Planet rated the coast of Wales "the best region on Earth" in 2012, yet there is a very low number of articles on the history and culture of places along the Coastal Path and the many and various activities and attractions. This promises to be an exciting project as it gathers momentum with many Users joining in. Let's make this WikiProject, like the path itself, the best on earth! PlayStation Power

[edit]

Hi, I don't know if you'll see it but I have to try. I've been working on Guilty Gear (video game) foor a good time but it has been difficult to find sources to completely source its gameplay. I've already exhausted all the sources I have and it has been difficult to find more reviews. Recently, I discovered MobyGames lists the game's reviews. And it says there's a review in the April 2000 issue of Playstation Power. MobyGames don't have it, neither do Internet Archive. You may be wondering why I'm telling you this. And the answer is this edit. Through Wikipedia search I discovered Speed Freaks use it as a source. And though it's not the issue I want, you found an edition that is not in the Internet Archive. Could you help me to find the issue I want? Gabriel Yuji (talk) 05:35, 5 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

[edit]

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB.
