Autopatrolled

Hi Wikipedical, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! INeverCry 22:55, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I have noticed you have removed a lot of information from the American Ninja Challenge page that is about American Ninja Warrior. I understand why you are doing this, but you must move it to the American Ninja Warrior page. We need to have this information somewhere. Could you please put the results of the competitors of ANW, the obstacles on it, and all the other information about ANW that you've removed from ANC on the American Ninja Warrior page? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.29.153.145 (talk) 01:30, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Variety logo 2013.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:Variety logo 2013.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:45, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Ren & Stimpy air dates

You're going to have to come up with a much better source for the air dates than IMDb. They are obviously wrong in some cases, you shouldn't use them. IsaacAA (talk) 06:45, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Masters of Sex, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Showtime (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

WP: PROD for Shannon Sutherland

Hi,

I saw you had nominated this article for PROD. I have added necessary sources, but yes I agree there isn't enough newspaper article coverage of the person. Though a newspaper coverage is considered one of the primary sources of reference, I think by googling her you can get an idea of the notability she achieves. Please remove the PROD, if you think its worth. If not, lets discuss it in the talk page - Thanks, tausif(talk) 07:05, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

You PRODded this, and it was deleted. Undeletion has been requested at WP:REFUND, so per WP:DEL#Proposed deletion I have restored it, and now notify you in case you wish to consider AfD. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:55, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello! Your submission of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! --Allen3 talk 17:56, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

You appear to have resolved the referencing issue but in so doing have reduced the size of the article below DYK's minimum size. --Allen3 talk 21:09, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

You placed a Proposed deletion tag on David C Parker giving the reason "Non-notable author/academic; requires significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. None provided, nor found in Google News. Quotations provided are not biographical."

I removed your Prod. The relevant criterion for academics is WP:PROF, and he meets criterion 5. This is an alternative to the GNG, not a supplement to it, and has had consensus for many years. As it says there, if someone meets the criterion, it just has to be verifiable from reliable sources, and an official CV is considered reliable for the purpose. The Golden Girls

Hello, Wikipedical. In this edit you replaced the title card to The Golden Girls with an image of just the text. Your summary indicates that you "did not see discussion". I don't see it either; could you please point me to it? —Psychonaut (talk) 22:02, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

Frank Whaley

I've declined your speedy as I feel it's copied the other way. The basic text here goes back to about 2006, and it's developed from there. If you think I'm wrong, I'd suggest contacting User:Moonriddengirl or User:VernoWhitney who are rather more expert in copyright matters than I am. It's not unusual for Wikipedia text to be copied without acknowledgement, and this is bit too neutral to have originated with the subject. IMO. I could be wrong. Upcoming already aired?

Huh? It's been aired, I gave a good source for it having already aired. Or if you want to be technical about the definition of "aired," maybe that's correct because it hasn't aired on "TV," whatever that means nowadays, but it is certainly not "upcoming." The "Original airing" has already passed. I provided a link on the talk page proving that, in addition to noting that I already viewed it in the edit summary. You reverted again without going to the talk page. BeCritical 01:43, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Back in September, you proposed Logan Grove for deletion, and it was duly deleted. However, following a request at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion, the article has now been restored. Main Page appearance

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of awards and nominations received by Arrested Development know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on November 4, 2013. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/November 4, 2013. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list director Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. Thanks! © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 05:04, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:NYCS map T.gif

Thanks for uploading File:NYCS map T.gif. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:58, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:NYCS map T.gif

Thanks for uploading File:NYCS map T.gif. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 16:28, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Blue Jasmine

The similarities between these two works has been noted by many many critics, and in some articles by Blanchette. This is enough to warrant the film's inclusion under the "Other"(I.E Related Works) section in the template. Note how it is not listed as a Direct Adaptation(which would put it under the "Films" section), but as "Other". It was never the intention to list it as an adaptation in the original addition of it to the Template, but as a "related work". You appear to have mistaken the intention of it's appearence under the "Other" title.Colliric (talk) 07:47, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Just because cultural critics have found similarities between All Is Lost and "The Old Man and the Sea" or Spring Breakers and a Norman Mailer essay doesn't mean that they should be linked via templates on Wikipedia. Unless you can find a reliable source from the author/production team of Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen & company) stating that there is an intentional relationship between that work and A Streetcar Named Desire, Jasmine should not be included on the Streetcar template. From what has been cited in the article, the correlation is an original association by outside critics. -- Wikipedical (talk) 23:32, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

SNL

'"Performances" does not make anything clearer, since this whole show is a performance. Complete sentences are easier for reader. Don't see need for change'

I realized later that it should be "Musical performances" (or it could be "Songs performed"). When someone is looking for that info, doing it that way makes it much easier to find. And it eliminates the redundancy of "-- performs" (not to mention repeated links). We know who the performer/musical guest is from above. Also, about half of what's there now are not complete sentences. The way it's written is more like notes than a summary, which is fine. It could just as well be shown in bulleted lists -- but not necessarily. --Musdan77 (talk) 20:17, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Saturday Night Live (season 40)

Wouldn't you also call Nasim Pedrad leaving as reliable, notable information? All I'm saying is that pages for prior seasons had much less info on them at around this point. Tholden28 (talk) 17:45, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Firstly, the article that's cited says Nasim Pedrad "implies" she's leaving. So no, that's not reliable. While it's likely she is, without confirmation from her or NBC it's speculation, which fails WP:CRYSTAL. There has been no announcement of a premiere date nor casting news, which doesn't typically get released until August. So with zero confirmed information, it's ridiculous to create an article that basically says "everything will be announced later" at this time. -- Wikipedical (talk) 17:56, 5 July 2014 (UTC)

Teen Wolf

It means that it is pointless to change a direct link to a redirect one. In this case, changing the link to Teen Wolf Season 3 to a redirection to Teen Wolf Season 3#Part 1 and Teen Wolf Season 3#Part 2, which aren't articles. Artmanha (talk) 03:58, 25 July 2014 (UTC)

I still don't quite understand what you're saying. If you go to List of The Sopranos episodes, List of Breaking Bad episodes, and List of Mad Men episodes you'll see how multi-part seasons link to the season's parts directly. -- Wikipedical (talk) 04:01, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
Eventhough it is a multi-part season, it is still a single season and dividing it on the Series Overview can be confusing. Besides, Season 3 have 24 episodes not 12 plus 12, I cannot see how that is confusing. What can be confusing, on the other hand, is having two "seasons" with the same number. See, the way you want to put it, do not show how many episodes a multi-part season has, it only splits them as if it was two different seasons, which they aren't. Removal of 'check local listings' disclaiming

I have reverted your removal of this note to the articles you've edited. Nothing in NOTADVICE advocates this as a case to remove it, and it has been established for years upon years that a standard 'check local listings' note is much better for large cable systems with many varying channel slots for a network than adding a long, long list of every single cable system in an infobox, not to mention those channel positions are easily vandalized and take a yeoman's effort using complicated cable company sites and unreliable PDF's to source. Please bring this up on WP:TV or WP:TVS if you'd like further advice and information from editors versed in this subject. Thank you. Nate (chatter) 07:44, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Miranda Sings- Comedians in Cars

Hi. I saw that you reverted one of my edits and I just wanted to make sure that you knew that Miranda Sings is a character and that Colleen Ballinger is the actress who portrays her. I guess there is some doubt about who will be in the car. I have seen some sites that say Ballinger and a couple that say Miranda. On Jerry's Facebook to which you linked, he says Miranda and on the program he says he hasn't met her yet and that his daughter turned him on to Miranda's Youtube channel, so that is what he knows her as. Personally, I think that Jerry would have the actress not the character. However, I suppose we should wait for the promotional video for the series and if we see Jerry talking to a girl with a hoarse voice and copious amounts of lipstick, he's talking to Miranda. If not, it'll most likely be Colleen. Thanks.173.179.185.186 (talk) 15:27, 27 September 2014 (UTC)samusek2

Sexual abuse at Horace Mann School

Hi,

why did you revert my changing the section title in the Horace Mann School article? Smallville main page

Wiki, you are causing several problems with your transclusion. First, and foremost, you're blocking out the rest of the page with the references from the transcluded pages. If you bothered to look at your work afterward, you'd realize that the rest of the page gets bumped down and there are 2 reference sections there (one in the middle of the page). There are also missing references from where you transcluded and deleted sources that were there. When you tranclude, you're bringing in 10 years worth of plot summary. That is too much information for this page. There is a reason that we have season pages and split that information. It is neither appropriate, nor does it look pleasing when trying to read that you have to surf through 10 years of plot just to get to the rest of the article. The layout of the article is in the best setup right now without the transcluded seasons. I don't know where you're editing that articles are doing this, but it would not be an ideal way of providing information. It would defeat the purpose of splitting pages.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:46, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Realized where the corruption was happening (my apologies). I'm ok with an overview table on the main page (the corruption was when it was removed from the LoE page), but I don't believe there needs to be one on the LoE page. We can just build one on the main page. The LoE page is literally nothing but overview tables. There is no longer any plot information there, thus it is not hard to navigate color coded, sectioned off seasons.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 14:00, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi Wikipedical,

I have started a section on the show's talk page called Boldface removed in episode summaries, concerning an edit you made. I make note that the boldface markup is being used in so many episode list articles (way beyond those from Disney Channel shows), in violation of WP:BOLDFACE. So many articles, that I don't know how practical it would be to get any violating articles in line, which leads me to the conclusion that the boldface markup is a matter of style, but we can't ignore the guideline—it's there for a reason, yet few are enforcing it. A million inches

The logic in this edit summary doesn't follow. Of course we wouldn't say "in inch" but what we do say is:

  • 1 million - 1 inch - 1 foot - 1 kilometre
  • 2 million - 2 inches - 2 feet - 2 kilometres
  • 3 million - 3 inches - 3 feet - 3 kilometres

And so on. It's all a matter of terminology, and note that "in" is not used in the articles. They say "(million)", not "(in millions)". That's important. --AussieLegend () 09:11, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Going Clear

Your rational for moving the page here is wrong. The book and film do not have the same title. The film's title is Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief, the book's title is Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief. The move is therefore, well, the wrong move. Please undo it, otherwise I'll start a move discussion at the film article's talk page. Thank you. --85.197.45.22 (talk) 07:51, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

Newspapers.com check-in

Hello Wikipedical,

You are receiving this message because you have a one-year subscription to Newspapers.com through the Wikipedia Library. This is a brief update, to remind you about that access:

  • Please make sure that you can still log in to your Newspapers.com account. If you are having trouble let me know.
  • Remember, if you find this source useful for your Wikipedia work, to include citations with links on Wikipedia. Links to partner resources are one of the few ways we can demonstrate usage and demand for accounts to our partners. The greater the linkage, the greater the likelihood a useful partnership will be renewed. Also, keep in mind that part of Newspapers.com is open access via the clipping function. Clippings allow you to identify particular articles, extract them from the original full sheet newspaper, and share them through unique URLs. Wikipedia users who click on a clipping link in your citation list will be able to access that particular article, and the full page of the paper if they come from the clipping, without needing to subscribe to Newspapers.com. For more information about how to use clippings, see http://www.newspapers.com/basics/#h-clips .
  • Do you write unusual articles using this partner's sources? Did access to this source create new opportunities for you in the Wikipedia community? If you have a unique story to share about your contributions, let me know and we can set up an opportunity for you to write a blog post about your work with one of our partner's resources.

Finally, we would greatly appreciate it if you filled out this short survey. Your input will help us to facilitate this particular partnership, and to discover what other partnerships and services the Wikipedia Library can offer.

Thank you,

Hi Wikipedical, I'm a journalist with the New York Times. License tagging for File:ColbertLateShow.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:ColbertLateShow.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. Copying within Wikipedia

Hello, Wikipedical. :) In evaluating a copyright concern with an article related to The Blacklist, I've discovered that you created the article The Blacklist (season 1) in 2014 by copying content from List of The Blacklist episodes. Although this was a little over a year ago, I need to be sure that you are aware that while you are free to copy content from one article to another, you must meet the terms of our license when you do so. Content on Wikipedia is not public domain, but instead is liberally licensed for reuse and modification, but the license is voided if the requirements are not met. Our licenses require that content be kept under compatible free license and that attribution be provided to the authors. Compatible license is handled automatically when copying within Wikipedia, but the attribution must be given at minimum in a link to the source article in edit summary. Best practices also require a note on the talk page of both articles. (I myself use the note only when copying is extensive - with just a few sentences, the edit summary serves.)

You can read more about how and why this is done at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. I have provided the mandatory attribution in the case of The Blacklist (season 1). If you have copied & pasted content from any other articles, even if a long time ago, please be sure to provide necessary attribution. This keeps the material legally compliant and in accordance with our Terms of Use.

Thanks. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:02, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

out-of-race parentheticals

Hello Wikipedical, you recently made the seemingly-innocuous change to the debate-status-key, of converting from "out of race (exploring or suspended)" to instead read "out of race (exploring or withdrawn)". I think this is an incorrect change, because it reduces the scope of the "o" status, or at least, makes the scope less clear. Out-of-race is supposed to include the following not-yet-in sorts of reasons:

  • candidate is not announced
  • candidate is testing the waters (official FEC terminology with corresponding legal ramifications)
  • candidate is has formed an exploratory committee (ditto FEC)
  • candidate has scheduled or hinted at their announcement but is still technically 'out'

However, out-of-race is also supposed to include the following no-longer-really-in sorts of reasons:

  • candidate is no longer running aka withdrawn , and all fundraising vehicles are shut down
  • candidate is no longer actively running aka has suspended their campaign (in terms of travel/debates/etc) , but fundraising is ongoing ... often to retire outstanding campaign-debt (happened in 2012 and many other cycles)
  • candidate is still active but candidate has switched parties (which has happened as recently as 2012 and may happen again in 2016 if Trump follows through on his I-may-run-3rd-party answer in the debates)
  • candidate is deceased (which has happened -- see 1968) , or otherwise unable to campaign due to medical reasons (e.g. detached retina is one example that happened fairly recently)

There is a grey area for campaigns that are still running, but are pursuing delegate-strategies (which happened in 2012 as well), and I'm not sure wikipedia counts those as "o" or as "N" or as "A" or as what exactly. Anyways, can you please restore the "out of race (exploring or suspended)" wording, since in politics 'suspended' really is slightly different from the normal English meaning of out-of-race, whereas the 'withdrawn' word is basically a synonym of out-of-race and thus already covered? The parenthetical info is supposed to clarify that testing-the-waters counts as "o" because the candidate is not yet fully in, and that suspended-but-still-fundraising-to-pay-debts also counts as "o" because the candidate is not yet fully out but might as well be. 75.108.94.227 (talk) 04:37, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

Please revert

Hello W - on what basis did you make this move. First UK programmes are not referred to as miniseries so your claim of naming conventions is in error. Second the discussion on the talk page had not ended but there were policy based posts that were in favor of using the DAB of serial. Please restore the page to its original designation and wait for a the discussion to end. MarnetteD|Talk 02:48, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Update: I have restored the article to its previous DAB. Please feel free to add your input to the discussion on the talk page. MarnetteD|Talk 03:25, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
"A miniseries (also mini-series) is a television program that tells a story in a predetermined, limited number of episodes." I moved the article based on that definition, as well as the fact that it aired over three successive nights. That's a textbook example of a miniseries. The article itself, at the time of the move, defined itself as a miniseries as well, which I noticed you removed. "(miniseries)" is an appropriate disambiguation under WP:NCTV. I will open a move request to gain further discussion/consensus. -- Wikipedical (talk) 22:55, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
A) The term is incorrect for UK programmes and B) there is an ongoing discussion on the talk page about what term to use to DAB it. A move should not have taken place until the discussion was finished. Please check on things like that. MarnetteD|Talk 23:40, 9 February 2016 (UTC)

Hey, as someone who seems to get it on the issue, I need your help over at List of television programs based on films – the IP that keeps adding the unsourced "Upcoming" section is back, and while I can probably revert him once more today, anymore than that and I'll probably get trapped into an edit war. So any eyes you can offer over at this article would be welcome... Thanks! --IJBall (contribstalk) 01:27, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

If you have to revert the IP a second time, we can then report the IP to either WP:ANEW or WP:AIV as they will have passed the WP:3RR threshold by this point. --IJBall (contribstalk) 02:12, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
I hope you still have this one on your watchlist – the good news is that the IPs are trying to add sourced content now; the bad news is that a significant fraction of what they're trying to add is out of Scope (I'm still not sure how Luke Cage (TV series) is even tangentially within the scope of this list...). --IJBall (contribstalk) 19:17, 23 March 2016 (UTC)
