- We don't have a Best Buy here, and Walmart sucks here. :( Well, Walmart mostly sucks because they recently downgraded their entire entertainment section, so it's really small now and useless. :( So depressing. But, yes. I need some $$$.... — Status {talkcontribs 01:49, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Is it bad there too? :( Looks as if I'll be buying everything on eBay now. Though, there is a Future Shop a town away. 60-inch TV?! DAMN. — Status {talkcontribs 01:55, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I was thinking it was just here because it's small, but I guess it isn't then. D: Tragic really. I don't know if your an avid CD/DVD buyer as I am, but it is quite depressing. I refuse to give in to this digital era. I wish I born decades earlier. Vinyls >>>>>>>>>>. — Status {talkcontribs 02:05, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I wouldn't say I hate it; I just don't believe in the purchase of things digitally. You can't feel it. I only buy get exclusives such as EPs, B-sides etc. that I can't get anywhere else on iTunes. Wish I could just go to the store and get the singles. :( If I at least lived in Germany or somewhere, I would be content. I've gotten a few singles on eBay; but they so damn expensive. Damn you iTunes! Soon I won't be able to buy albums anywhere. :( — Status {talkcontribs 02:11, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Lol. Then where did i see that? Anyway, haven't talked to you since long. How are you? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 12:22, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Have been a little under-the-weather with that GAN, but I think I'm okay now. My goodness, Malleus and Sp33dyphil are great copy editors. They have slayed me... —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 12:24, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Which GAN? Hey will you believe me if they did not do much? I am not lying. They barely replaced one word here and there. The former even said that you were a bit harsh on the prose. Hmmm, THR is very difficult to get along with. I am going to lose my patience soon. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 12:26, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Let's not get into that. I fear other people will feel invited to join this conversation then. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 12:35, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Penguin, it is better you never do that again. Learn form it. I bet you do not want to experience that again, right? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 12:38, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Actually, I feel pretty confident about what I did. It's the reactions that frustrated me. Everyone has different outlooks on good article nominees, and people need to respect that. If the article had only prose issues, it wouldn't have been so bad. But there were sourcing issues and quotation usage issues as well. End of discussion. Surely Zach understood. No doubt the nominators worked hard on it, but honesty is key. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 12:42, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Beautiful, simply beautiful. This better be a single, or I'll be mad. Reminds me of her old days. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:10, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Isn't it? I wasn't expecting anything close to it. "Masterpiece" is the official song from W.E. I think they are going to release it as a promo single and push for it for an Oscar nomination. However, its confirmed that the song will be available on M's 12th studio album. — Legolas (talk2me) 18:16, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- This album better be good if she wants to stand a chance with BTW, 21 or even TTT (okay, she will probably beat the latter). But then again, Gaga and Adele will likely have new albums recorded by then. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:21, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- TTT is not even under any consideration tbh. And somehow I have a gut feeling that Adele might fade away, if she doesn't drastically change herself. In my experience, her simplicity is what will kill her. Gaga, well I can never be sure about her. She continues to surprise me even after I have called her flopping a number of times. The thing which was previously missing with Madonna's 2000s albums was her hunger. I see that is back in her, from her interviews, appearances, etc. This gives me hope, although that demo of "Give Me All Your Love" disappointed me immensely. — Legolas (talk2me) 18:26, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- You never know, Legolas. And yes, TTT sucks for the most part. Hard Candy was a pretty dry album, but it did have a few good tracks, like 4:00. I don't see this album being like LAV or LAP, but it will be pretty successful, I hope. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:30, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, same thing here. This time its unpredictable. I have never been able to write off this woman, since the time I fell in love with her. I thought she was doomed for eternity after American Life, but then COADF came and she slayed me again. Lol, of all her wonderful songs, only "4 Minutes" is FA. Ooh the irony. — Legolas (talk2me) 18:34, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- It won't be the only FA for long. ;-) —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:38, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Touch wood on that. Both LAP and LAV song articles can be FAs with little polishing. They are most comprehensive I believe. — Legolas (talk2me) 18:41, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Too bad you gave up on "Give it 2 Me". I didn't think Musicnotes would be such an issue... —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:42, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(→) It would have failed anyways. The whole recording info was missing. And now it's kinda incomplete tbh in comparison to other Madonna songs. Even if you compare the recent most "Oh Father", to "Give It 2 Me", the latter appears non-comprehensive. I'm playing "Masterpiece" so many times already. But this is supposedly just a demo. Hey have you joined WP:MADONNA? — Legolas (talk2me) 18:54, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. ;) —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:57, 3 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- "...as if two black people are kissing.." Oh God, did it come off as offensive? If it was, I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention. My point was that Madonna's face also appears dark making it look like that statement, and that is not what the video is discussing. And yeah, I do like "Masterpiece", you would understand if you yearn for a ballad from your fave and he/she hasn't given it in many years but ultimately gives. — Legolas (talk2me) 14:52, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Hehe, it didn't offend me. It's about time she did make music rather than opening gyms in Mexico. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 14:55, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm overtly critical of her though, you know. That's what I do, the artists or people that I like, I become critical of them. Lol, can you believe Michael Buble snatching the diva's wigs with his Christmas album? I actually like this one better than the others though. Nickelback was really disappointing and so was May J. Blige's. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:02, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've just read the review. I had to leave it a while because, I'm not going to lie, I was quite annoyed. I disagree with several of your points. The lead is actually the same length as The Emancipation of Mimi. I don't do things to get things back, but I guess I was surprise and disappointed that you couldn't give the same level of review as I did for you here. Me and Tomica could have easily sorted the brief list of points on Loud within 7 days of being on hold between the pair of us. Calvin • Watch n' Learn 23:38, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- It's frustrating I know. But prose was not the only issue in the article; there was a wide range of issues. EOM is different because it is in fact a longer article than Loud. 35 KB of prose vs 28 KB of prose. So it can have a bigger lead. To tell you the truth, I think the references alone would have taken seven days and the prose would have to be taken a good look through. GAN is not for that, it's for polishing the article up and addressing only a few minor issues. Remember "Wait Your Turn"? That was hell I will admit, and I was kind enough to look through it 3-4 times and have Jivesh look over it as well. If it makes you feel better, I will shy away from Rihanna GANs from now on. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 23:49, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Prose wasn't the only issue on LTWYL, but I didn't fail it because of it. You can't say that GAN is "not for that", because I notice you wasn't complaining during the LTWYL review, which going by your reasoning for Loud, was an undeniable fail. I have always tried to make sure I don't fail an article if I feel it can be turned around, and I think Loud could have. It only took me 2 minutes to go through the MTV sources just now and about the same again to remove the ellipsis'. Wait Your Turn was hell not because of you, but because of someone else who had issues. I'm not going to keep talking about, because what's done is done, but I was disappointed. And this isn't your fault nor did you know, but I was having a bad few days, and Loud being failed was the icing on the cake. Calvin • Watch n' Learn 00:02, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- "Thanks for being extremely patient and constructive. Most reviewers would've probably failed the article." It's not like a nominator would ask the reviewer to fail his nomination. "Wait Your Turn" was underprepared in terms of comprehensiveness (composition, reception and music video sections were either non-existent or lacking), prose and refs. I don't do reviews in exchange; I give them them a proper assessment. I know you do not want to talk about this, but I feel that I had to give you my reply. This discussion is not helping. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 00:31, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- That quote is my point exactly, that's what I do, I try to avoid having to fail articles which can be turned around in less than 7 days. I'm not say you should do them in exchange. Review what you want to review. To be honest, I don't think you gave Loud a proper assessment at all. I mean, I've actually done the things you said already since I posted here an hour ago, or at least the things which were a problem, like the refs and paragraphs. The singles section is fine, I mean, there are 8 songs to talk about, so that's about as short as it can get without not being descriptive. The article was c/e by the GOCE, so I doubt the prose is as bad as you say. If it is, then so are several of the Beyonce articles. Look, I don't want this to go any further or get between us. I was simply saying how I felt about it, okay? Let's forget about it now. Calvin • Watch n' Learn 00:42, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Again Beyonce Beyonce Beyonce. Lol. By the way, i have to say WYT was under-prepared, no doubt about that but Penguin ... i think you should have a look at the contribution of the one who had issues with the review to see what a great editor he is. - I love it. It is very in-depth and just what FAC needs. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:24, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Many reviewers had issues with this section and by chance i got four amazing sources yesterday after filtering 31 pages. Lol. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:27, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- See how helpful a Peer review would have been? It would save the article to have to suffer weeks at FAC. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:29, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Penguin, (without flattering you .. Lol), you have to bear in mind that not everyone is a fantastic reviewer as you. This article has had 3 and you see the amount of issues it contained. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:31, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Looking at your FAC, my biggest fear with talking LTWYL to FAC is that they will complain about its "over-comprehensiveness" and challenge anything they feel is unnecessary. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:33, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- May i help out? Well, i am not among the best but i can still lend a helping hand. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:39, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks. The only issue I am concerned about at the moment is the prose, which is extremely difficult to get to professional standards for both you and I. But always feel free to make copy edits when you feel that something is written incorrectly. I am actually trying to avoid adding more information because of how massive the article is already. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:44, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Sure... Like Beyonce says in "Why Don't You love Me", wanna check my credentials (list of the best copy-editors who are very friendly and always willing to help, most importantly, their one support vote can defy practically all oppose votes)? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:48, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- (edit conflict) A bit like with Wait Your Turn, I think the Live performances section is far too big. 5 paragraphs? Do we really need to know that he earned £2 million at V? The music video section, as a whole, seems really big too. Calvin • Watch n' Learn 13:50, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- @Jivesh - what do you mean? @Calvin - "Wait Your Turn" gave a detailed synopsis of the whole performance. LTWYL is different because it is critical analysis. Yes, the fact that Em earned 2 million pounds is notable when it is one of his highest grossing performances and it was discussed by several journalists. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:54, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Lol. I meant if you want, i can give you a list of copy-editors who are the best here. If you have their support a the FAC, no one can stop you then. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:57, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- You are lucky indeed. Hey what about this?
During a performance at the BankAtlantic Center in Florida, Beyoncé halted the concert in the middle of this song. She then handed the microphone over to a male fan who announced: "Beyoncé, you told me if I like it, I need to put a ring on it." He then dropped to one knee, produced a ring and asked his stunned girlfriend to marry him, in front of the 20,000+ crowd. His girlfriend, seemingly shocked, nodded yes.
Should it be added? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 14:29, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- What she does are only spotchecks. Lol. She will become bald if she does a checking of references one by one in all those articles. It's a very difficult task. - Lol, no she does not do spotchecks. Those are even harder - you have to make sure each and every source supports the information on the article and you have to check for copyright violations, etc. Lol, my FAC has time. I was planning for the holidays, but I will push it to some time in January or February. I'm also thinking of taking a wiki-break sometime soon. This is the part where I tell you "The lead is too damn long!". I strongly suggest a Peer review or two. Also, be careful of number formatting like "eighty-four beats". On the comprehensiveness side, it's not bad (for my standards). —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 12:30, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- To be quite honest, I do not see why it is so bad. The image is one of the best ones from the LTWYL era and the overlap? Not an issue because the image is loosely related to both sections. IMO, it's tres belle. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 11:26, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

yes, in the 4 (Beyoncé Knowles album)
In the infobox, remove the December 12 date of Love On Top because it's false....it's not on Amazon UK nor iTunes UK....that date was just rumored, it was never confirmed....anyway, Love on top has yet to receive a separate digital or physical release...it was only sent for radio airplay in some countries....there is no secondary source to prove that it was digitally released on that date....so, remove the December 12 date from the infobox.....
Also, in the header, it says:
Preceding the album's release, lead single "Run the World (Girls)" was released for digital download worldwide on April 21, 2011. The single was rushed for release after an early demo leaked on April 18, 2011. "Best Thing I Never Had" was released on June 1, 2011, as the album's second single. "Countdown" was released as the third single in the US, it was sent to US mainstream and rhythmic radio on October 4, 2011, while "Party" was released as the album's third urban single in the US on October 24, 2011. "Love on Top" was released in the UK on December 12, 2011.
Remove the "Love on Top was released in the UK on December 12, 2011" part per the same reason above, false date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.189.22.165 (talk) 18:54, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have responded on my talk-page. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 18:52, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I need your help with two articles, first one is, Marry You, it was not released as a single. It's not in any country in iTunes nor Amazon and was not sent to radio anywhere. No sources to prove that it's a single. Yet, there is this user that keeps changing it to single, and failing to provide any sources that prove that it's a single.
Second article is "Wet (Nicole Scherzinger song)", it was officially sent to radio in Australia and an official press release from the label confirms its a single, it also has a single cover and a music video, which makes it an official single, but this user keep changing it back to song.
72.189.22.165 (talk) 16:57, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- "Marry You" was not a US single, but was released in Europe as per the Digital Spy source. You have to provide a source that proves that "Wet" is a single. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:11, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
For Wet, here are the sources that prove it's a single: Source 1, Source 2, and Source 3 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.189.22.165 (talk) 18:47, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep in mind that songs that are only released for Australian radio are not considered official singles. The stations have played non-singles before. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:49, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
but look at the official press release in Source 3.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.189.22.165 (talk) 18:50, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't think that is a reliable source. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:55, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But the press release is taken directly form Scherzinger's official website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.189.22.165 (talk) 18:57, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also, look, the official website of Interscope Records, Nicole's record label, clearly states that its a single.
- I have requested a second opinion from the user you conflicted with. He may understand better. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 19:01, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Neither songs were OFFICIALLY released as singles. No radio, digital, or CD single releases. The fact that her label said it was a single, doesn't mean a single thing. They said it BEFORE the scheduled release (Late August), and it most likely got canned (for whatever reason). Same with "Marry You". — Status {talkcontribs 19:03, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But Wet was officially sent to Australian radio on September 26 Source 1
And if Marry You is not a single, Then why did you allow that other user to change it to single?
- I will echo again that Australia radio adds are not necessarily singles. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 19:07, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Let's see what Status has to say first.
- Who allowed someone to change it as a single? I don't believe I've ever edited the article before in my life. Australian radio dates =/= single release. And besides, some users have been disputing the reliability of that website. — Status {talkcontribs 19:12, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If it is it is; I don't know how familiar you are with Brexx, but the editing style is just way too similar to his to be a coincidence. If it turns out to not be him than fine, but the fact that he removed a comment on my talk saying that he is probably a sockpuppet shows that he knows what a sockpuppet is. (His editing seems fairly new, so I don't know how he would know this unless he had an experience with it prior.) And i like almost basically all of his songs including the crazy ones but one of the reasons i like Eminem is because he talks about him self and is real sometimes. I was just listening to Medicine Ball off of Relaspe. Its crazy. And we went to go see the trans siberian orchestra last saturday they were cool and the wernt Russian. I removed an unreliable reference (http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/) and you reverted me and left an obscure warning on my talk page. Please tell me what is wrong. http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/ is in my opinion not a reliable source. Or is it? DesertBeetle (talk) 02:10, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for striking out the warning on my talk page. Could you also please revert your edit on the article page? Or is there anything else wrong with the changes i performed? DesertBeetle (talk) 02:27, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I was wrong in mistaking yuor edit for vandalism. However, removing an unreliable source does not help. You should replace it, or leave it. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 02:31, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I replaced the reference with the citation needed tag but did not remove the information. Leaving an unreliable source would give the wrong impression to the reader and this ref is completely unreliable. You also reverted two other edits where i added references to other claims. Something wrong with these edits? DesertBeetle (talk) 02:39, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- No, {{citation needed}} does not help here. The information must be sourced. Your edits where you added the sources have been restored however. Thanks. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 02:47, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Hmmm, the unreliable source does not verify the claim. I do not have a source that verifies the claim. So shall i remove the claim? I personally think the Citation needed tag is helpful here as it alerts other editors who might be able to verify the claim. As i have just replaced a few citation needed tags with references. Are you sure that your way to deal with such situations is the right way and common practice on Wikipedia? DesertBeetle (talk) 02:57, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- If it does not support the claim at all, then that's different. I have restored all your edits. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 03:00, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you. DesertBeetle (talk) 03:03, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Penguin,
I have been trying to correct the entry on Bonzo the Dog, particularly the references to myself - Richard Fitzpatrick, where the site has the reference to Fitzgerald! Also, as the owner & author of the Bonzo the Dog website (www.bonzo.me.uk) from which most of this information has come, I feel I should be allowed to make the corrections to this entry. I have been collecting & studying Bonzo & G.E. Studdy for about 20 years now, so I feel I do know the correct facts on this subject! I am sorry if my edits have offended you, but please know that my intentions are for the good of Wikipedia!!
Kind regards,
Richard 24.162.247.82 (talk) 02:17, 20 December 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.162.247.82 (talk) 02:12, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Could you provide an edit summary next time please to explain your edits? Your edit appeared unconstructive for that reason. Anyway, I will revert my reverts. Thanks for the notification. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 02:19, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Can you tell me how I can provide the required edit summary please? This is the first time I had looked on Wikipedia about my subject & didn't know all the rules! I was just about to add more information than I have on my own site in the Social Impact bit, as at the moment it simply repeats the Merchandising bit, which itself has a few errors in it. I wish to cross referent with the Lupino Lane entry - how's best to do such? Thanks for your help. Richard 24.162.247.82 (talk) 02:24, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Above the "Save page" and "Preview" buttons, there is a small box and abov eit says "edit summary". Here, you must describe the edits you are making then click save. It's good practice. Sorry for the disruption and best of luck. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 02:27, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Okay, thanks. Are you able to put back the changes I'd made before you reverted to the original entry? It would save me a bunch of time redoing it all again! Cheers, Richard24.162.247.82 (talk) 02:29, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I believe I already have. Cheers, —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 02:31, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I've just refreshed my browser, & the only change I now see is one reference. All the Social bit has gone, as have the changes to the first section where there are errors about the Sketch & I had inserted info. about the Valentine postcards. I think you need to go back a couple more steps to get them back if that's possible. Cheers, Richard24.162.247.82 (talk) 02:36, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. How is it now? —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 02:50, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there (I'm always unsure about whether to call you Wikipedian, Penguin, or WP. Does it matter). When I get back in the active I'm planning on creating Whaling in Canada (currently a blank user page, but it will get there slowly). It will be an unusual change of pace for me, since I rarely make significant contributions to topics that aren't U2, but I've written a few essays on the subject recently and become interested in the topic. Anyways, to cut to the chase, I've got some good information that covers the Inuit (north), the Nuu-chah-nulth (west), and European whaling in Canadian waters (1500-1920s). What I'm missing is sources that talk about whaling on the east coast of Canada. Since you're from Newfoundland, I was wondering if you know of anything that discusses whaling on the east coast? I know it's a bit of a longshot, but I figured that since you're from the east and apparently a penguin, you might have some interest in the subject. Cheers, and Happy Christmas! Melicans (talk, contributions) 07:16, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello, Melicans. I hope you're doing good and Merry Christmas to you too! That is a very interesting topic you are doing there and a very controversial one too. It's also an interesting change in direction from your previous work with U2. I am sorry to disappoint you though; as someone who has only spent just over six years here in NL, I do not have any background information on Whaling. I spent a fair part of my life in Toronto, where whaling is non-existent. So technically, I'm not really from the east. Another problem may be that whaling was not very common near St. John's, NL, but more so in Labrador. I have not even finished high school yet so I don't know for sure. I am very sorry to be of no help. You can have a look at the heritage.nf.ca site, but I'm not sure on the WP:RS boundaries of Canadian history and culture. Désolé et joyeux noël. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 12:11, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Ah, that's no problem. I figured it'd be a bit of a longshot anyways (if you asked what I knew about the automotive industry here, I'd draw a blank for sure). Good to know that it was more prevalent around Labrador though; gives me another area to start searching on. Heritage.nf.ca should be fine on the RS front since it is a government run website. I don't think there will be any issues there at all if there's some info on there. (You're from Toronto originally? How funny; I spent half my life about 40 minutes away in Kitchener!) - By the way, Theolagiae, do you think Born This Way could be expanded somewhat? It's really lacking on writing, production and recording info. It only says where sessions were held, but I think we can get into a bit more detail, like briefly describe the recording of "Hair" and "TEOG" and also "Marry the Night" and some other tracks. Maybe something along the lines of Folie à Deux or 21? What do you think? —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 15:09, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, I was thinking along the same lines. Whilst I feel confident writing composition/critical reception/influences-esque sections, I do not feel really as if I could write such a thing. Yet, if we can find someone who is willing to do so, it would be great. In my opinion, Born This Way could be GA in no time; all we need to do is format the refs, re-structure some parts and add the writing/production section. Aside that, it's well-referenced, full of information, relatively well-written (mind you, I haven't read it all, so I'm not completely sure), and balanced, so, if we can fix some minor issues, I think that reaching GA status shouldn't be such a hard task. Merci beaucoup et bon travail!--&レア (talk) 18:26, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll see what I can do this January, including some clean-up. Merci pour tes contributions. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:29, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Penguin. Can you please explain me how to create a DYK, how to nominate an article for that thing or maybe give me a link of some page on Wikipedia explaining that process. Thank you. My love is love (talk) 11:43, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello, My love is love. DYK is hard to explain, but I'll try my best. Refer to WP:DYK on what's expected of a "Did you know?" T:DYK explains the whole nomination process and seein ghow you are new to this, you probably do not have to review another DYK in exchange yet. The fact (hook) has to be from an article that was created less than 5 days ago or must have been expanded fivefold (in terms of prose size) in the past 5 days. The fact must be neutral and directly cited in the article. Make it interesting and if you can, quirky! Go to the "How to post a new nomination section in T:DYK and follow the steps. You can have "ALT" hooks and the reviewers can choose which is best for the main page. I've only done one DYK so far, so it's hard to explain. But shouldn't be too worrying. Thank you and happy holidays, —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 12:19, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Ok. Thank you. It really doesn't matter where you post your messages. So I guess I can't make a DYK for "I Care" or "Sweet Dreams" as I expected because they weren't created five days ago nor expanded fivefold. But I'll try to do something for "Schoolin' Life" since it was created on December 22, 2011. Got to go now. I've been sitting on my computer for too long now. WP, what do you think of Bill Lamb of About.com? Its reliability etc. I find his composition analysis very good. For instance, this. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 16:00, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Bill Lamb is a very skilled writer. No doubt you can get past GA. But FAC? Hmmm... it depends. Nikki would object as About.com is generally a very unreliable source and FAC asks for high quality reliable sources. About.com has cited Wikipedia before, making things worse. Considering the author's background however, I personally wouldn't object to it, but FAC has high standards for sources, so good luck defending it from Nikki. In fact, I had this really nice Bill Lamb source, but removed it for FAC. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 16:11, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Penguin,
You seem a little confused by these: "with a shot of Rihanna lying" is not a fused participle. There is good explanation here.[9] But I would not worry too much; often you can use them without anyone noticing. Best wishes. Graham Colm (talk) 16:26, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I see. Thank you for clarifying. Would "with Rihanna lying" however be a fused participle? —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 16:42, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes, but as the meaning is clear, this is not a problem. To use the possessive would make the wording clumsy, "with Rihanna's lying". This is an untidy aspect of grammar. A lot depends on how frequently the participle is used as a gerund. The use of "with" in this context often indicates trouble ahead. Spot the subtle differences here, "I am fed up with him lying there" and "I am fed up with his lying there". The first means I am fed up with him, who just happens to be lying there. But the second means I am fed up with his choice of place to relax. So, the meaning might not be clear if a fused participle is intended. Interestingly, if we swap genders we have, "I am fed up with her lying there", which can't be fixed so easily. We would have to use "that woman" in the first meaning. Graham Colm (talk) 17:15, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you so much. I have never considered using possessives in place of regular pronouns. I have often "fixed" such participle structures using relative pronouns (with Rihanna, who lies) or using "as" (as Rihanna lies). This has sounded awkward at times though. H. W. Fowler has always objected to fused participles and split infinitives, but I find them helpful for flow--unless in the "with (noun) (participle)" formation. Cheers. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 17:25, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Pffffff. What a relief!!! Lol. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:44, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Even Fowler mellowed in his old age. Actually, these phrases must be read in the context of the clause or sentence. There is nothing wrong here, "I was in bed with Rihanna lying next to me" (quite a nice thought in fact). Although some might prefer a comma, "I was in bed with Rihanna, lying next to me". Some pedants, who don't care about redundancy, might insist on "I was in bed with Rihanna, who was lying next to me". Never let anyone say English is a simple language. Best wishes. Graham. Graham Colm (talk) 17:53, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- With the comma, it sounds as if "I" am the one who is "lying next to me". Hehe. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:00, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Penguin... how are you today? I must ask you, why are so not satisfied and skeptical about how "Love the Way You Lie" looks. For me simply looks fantastic. — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 21:56, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello. It's the prose. There are still so many awkward sentences. I am also trying to reduce some fancruft quotations. It really does have the information though, from the production and songwriting, to the collaborating, and to the recording and mixing.
"Rehab" looks great. I love short articles; they are more interesting and easy to read through. However, "Rehab" also had the necessary information (Production and recording).—WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 22:07, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Well to be honest, comprehensiveness is a real real plus for the article. But, people are not always reading the big articles, because they are too lazy to do that. I am so glad that you like "Rehab". I would like to be bigger of course, but there is not other information and coverage like "Love the Way You Lie". I think that you gonna fix it, you just have to nominate it for copy-edit at GOCE. Also, the copy-editor is very important, sometimes they can ruin the article :S ! — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 22:37, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm thinking of doing that in January. It will most like ly take a few months before someone actually gets to copy-editing it. Jivesh is helping me with the the prose right now. And User:Melicans said he'd get to it in January as well. I'm excited, but nervous at the same time. It's overwhelming. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 22:54, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Don't get nervous, it will probably take some time to work on it first, since it's very big and comprehensive, but don't worry, the article has everything that one FA should posses: Storyline, good composition section, also critical, the video one is great ... All in all it passes at my side :) ! However, maybe the FAC process will be also longer, but count on me then and now. I can help you with references or maybe in some places prose also when the article is on FAC :). — Tomica1111 • Question Existing? 23:00, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Yes, I know but how can we summarize it in the development section, if possible in one line? Because, in the video, Knowles clearly says, "that's what the song is about". Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:29, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- If you ask me, it's better off in the composition section. Development can focus on songwriting and recording. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:30, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
But don't you think that development concerns the concept as well. Hmm did you watch the videos for a better understanding? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:34, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I watched it the day of its premiere. :-) You can do what I did for LTWYL and just describe the theme of the song instead of a paraphrasing of the song's lyrics. This section should not be about what she wrote, but why and how she wrote it. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:40, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Can you please try something there? I don't know what to write. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:45, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I'll see what I can do. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 13:49, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as you're trying to improve LTWYL to a featured article, I figure that you'd probably appreciate some more detailed liner notes to compare with your digital booklet. This is as close to an exact transcription as I can get:
15. Love the Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna)
(M. Mathers, A. Grant, H. Hafferman)
Songs of Universal, Inc./Shroom Shady Music (BMI)/Universal Music Publishing/Universal Music-Z Songs/Hotel Bravo Music/M. Shop Publ. (BMI).
Produced by: Alex da Kid for Wunderland Music, LLC.
Recorded by: Mike Strange @ Effigy Studios & Marcos Tovar @ Sun Studios in Temple Bar.
Assistant engineers: Joe Strange @ Effigy Studios & Spike Lindsey @ Sun Studios in Temple Bar.
Mixed by: Eminem, Alex da Kid & Mike Strange @ Effigy Studios.
Additional guitars by: J. Brow for Veers Music.
Vocal production by: Makeba Riddick.
* Rihanna appears courtesy of The Island Def Jam Music Group.
(Who exactly is "J. Brow"? I thought they would have given his full name.)
You probably know most of this already, but just in case you find it useful I'd thought you'd like it. I'm starting a liner notes collection on my user page soon, so you'll be able to use that if you wish. Happy editing! I Am Rufus • Conversation is a beautiful thing. 14:43, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Ah, okay. I think I will be able to squeeze out some more information from these notes. I didn't know Spike Lindsey worked at Temple Bar. In other words, he engineered Rihanna's sessions. I'm not sure if we should list the publishing companies and J. Brow's and Alex' companies either. Thanks and congrats on the FL promotion. By the way, when you are starting the liner notes on your page, be sure to list a bibliography at the bottom to avoid plagiarism. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 15:07, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- No problem - thanks for pointing that out. I Am Rufus • Conversation is a beautiful thing. 19:06, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Lol. I want you to try to summarize the concept of the song in one line but please include the part Beyonce said that it is a song anyone can relate to. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:40, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I gave it a shot. There was a lot of redundant information being repeated, especially in the first sentence. I cut that down. You don't have to use the writers' birth names in the prose by the way. That's just for infoboxes and tables. As for the summary, turns out it was already in the sentence where Beyonce discusses how people relate to the song. I did some re-wording, so check it out. Comment here for queries. Feel free to copy-edit and paste into the article. I also renamed the section to something more specific. Thank you. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 18:21, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
