If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Peace Revolution requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.revolvy.com/main/index.php?s=Peace%20Revolution. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — O Fortuna semper crescis, aut decrescis 16:49, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Anathapindika, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Deva (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Assessment vs. peer review

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you submitted some articles for reassessment, and then also requested feedback. However, feedback is usually given through a peer review process instead. On Wikiprojects, they usually just assess quality. Try submitting at WP:PEER REVIEW as well.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 08:36, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the headsup. Wikiman5676 (talk) 03:29, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. just give me some time to get to it. I'd really like the Tzu Chi article reassessed. I'm curious if my edits improved its quality enough to improve its assessment. Wikiman5676 (talk) 02:05, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DYK entry?

[edit]

Hello Wikiman, I have come up with a Did You Know? entry, for Wikipedia's first page: User:Farang Rak Tham/sandbox#Wat Phra Dhammakaya. It has not been submitted yet. Let me know what you think.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 09:33, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Farang Rak Tham how about something about the temple stopping a listing on the Thai stock market from Thaibev? Wikiman5676 (talk) 02:37, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
i feel like that would be more interesting Wikiman5676 (talk) 02:46, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, Wikiman5676, why don't you give it a try? You can replace the ALT1 line.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 08:32, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have submitted Wat Phra Dhammakaya's and Khun Yai Chandra Khonnokyoong's DYK now. I am continuing with History of Wat Phra Dhammakaya.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 23:40, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Farang Rak ThamShouldnt the entry have said"... that a new Buddhist temple started in the 1970s in Thailand, has grown to a number of three million practitioners globally?" instead of that has grown?

Which DYK entry do you mean? The entry I submitted is here.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 08:41, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Meanwhile, here is a draft for the DYK entry for History of Wat Phra Dhammakaya:
Draft DYK Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen:
Let me know what you think, and if you have any further ideas, feel free to add them to the list.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 09:19, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was talking about the 3 million followers DYK. I'll take a closer look in several hours have to go to work.

For history I think something like Did you know that ... the Thai Buddhist temple Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized protests which prevented what would have been the largest listing on the Thai stock market at the time? Wikiman5676 (talk) 16:14, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mm. But then you didn't mention the name of the company. But if we did Did you know that ... the Thai Buddhist temple Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized protests which prevented what would have been the largest listing on the Thai stock market of an alcoholic beverage company?, this would change the meaning. Er...--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 17:15, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Farang Rak Tham ...the Thai Buddhist temple Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized protests which prevented ThaiBev from listing on the stock market in what would have been the largest listing in Thai history?
Maybe something like this? Wikiman5676 (talk) 02:43, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But how would people know they produce alcoholic beverages? How about "...the Thai Buddhist temple Wat Phra Dhammakaya organized protests which prevented a beer company from listing on the stock market, in what would have been the largest listing in Thai history?" Although I am afraid it is still too lengthy. Anyway, I am posting it. Anything other ideas for the history article?--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 08:46, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Posted here.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 12:59, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

For Wat Paknam I would like to throw out a more direct idea. Did you know that....the Buddhist monk Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro transformed a nearly abandoned Thai temple into a prosperous center of meditation with over 500 monks (the highest in Thailand at the time)? Wikiman5676 (talk) 02:53, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I like it, though we have to cut it a little. You can't have more than 200 characters. And there's another problem, in that the two Thai sources that support this statement are now paywalled and I didn't keep a copy of them. So I have to find another source with the same statement, or pay a fee to enter the Matichon newspaper clippings library. It's actually not that expensive, but you need a Thai bank account to pay them. :-(
Still, the statement is worth it. I am starting to look in the sources that I did keep.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 08:46, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Found a better source and added it.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 10:05, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Posted it here for the time being.--Farang Rak Tham (talk) 09:45, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello,

I noticed your activity on the Wat Phra Dhammakaya page and that you helped get it to Good article status. Thank you! I noticed that none of the photos on the page or the History of Wat Phra Dhammakaya page had photos of the standoff itself. I actually have several personal photos taken during the standoff that I have uploaded. Was wondering if you would find it suitable to upload a few to both of the pages.

2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations DYK entry

[edit]

You might want to take a look at this.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 13:01, 28 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

For a DYK review to pass, one of the nominators must also review another user's DYK nomination. This is called QPQ. In the case of this DYK, would you like to do the honors?--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 12:12, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a bit confused by your statement, do you want me to nominate it or to review this DYK? Wikiman5676 (talk) 01:23, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would like you to ask you to review another DYK nomination. For each DYK nomination to pass, one needs to review another. Since your name is also on the DYK nomination for 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations, you can also fulfill the requirement.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 07:38, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok. but the rule says if I have nominated less than 5 articles for DYK i dont need to fulfill the QPQ requirement. I haven't nominated any, so I dont think that's even necessary. the DYKBot credits me with more than five already, but according to this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Did_you_know/Reviewing_guide#Finishing_the_review it doesn't only include nominations, as i haven't done any yet. If what what the bot has credited me for does count then I'll do one to meet the QPQ requirement. Wikiman5676 (talk) 17:30, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Okay Farang Rak Tham so just for the sake of learning how to do DYK reviews i did one here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Did_you_know_nominations/Australamphilina_elongata do I have to wait until its completed to use it for the QPQ? Wikiman5676 (talk) 18:39, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job! Sadhu! I suppose we have to do QPQ because the entry has my name as the main nominator, and I have already submitted more than five DYK entries.
You don't have to finish the review to be able to post a link to it at 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations. So you did it right.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 11:22, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Wikiman, I think we need to discuss some possible other DYKs and come to a consensus on them, otherwise our Japan-lover is messing everything up again. These are my suggestions:
  1. ... that a Thai government department was accused of wasting a large amount of government budget meant for temples, but was allowed to investigate such fraud by themselves?
  2. ... that the Thai junta defrocked a number of high-ranking monks before trial in the 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations? [This one is yours, he has omitted to review it]
  3. ... that a Thai monk fled and asked asylum in Germany when he was accused in the 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations?

Although our Japan-lover has proposed that we nominate a hook involving the investigations leading to calls for reform in Thai Buddhism, or a hook relating to international or domestic responses, I am pretty sure that the former would be too speculative and not quite to the point, and the latter would be marked for lacking neutrality. But nevertheless, as a token of good will, we could propose:

4 ... that several Thai Buddhist networks sued Pongporn Pramsaneh, head of a Thai government department, accusing him of fraud and negligence in the 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations?
5 ... critics accused the Thai junta of using the 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations as a cover-up for their own failings?

Cant think of anything else except maybe 5. Wikiman5676 (talk) 05:19, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How about 6. ... 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations led to the defrocking of high ranking monks and was seen as a form of political revenge? Wikiman5676 (talk) 05:30, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well formulated. But for most people, defrocking of a monk is quite a meaningless event. Most Christian monks do not wear their robes most of the time, and for Western people defrocking is an abstract ceremony run by church officials. I do like the part on revenge though, but we can't say it was seen—that's too general. But was seen by critics should be okay. May I suggest an amendment:
7. ... that the 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations led to the detainment of high-ranking monks and was seen by critics as political revenge?
What do you think?--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 12:35, 28 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure.or maybe something like "imprisonment" or "arrest" instead of detainment. Wikiman5676 (talk) 01:43, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. I actually started a discussion about the word detain on the talk page of the article. Let's try again, shall we?:
8. ... that the 2017–18 Thai temple fraud investigations led to the imprisonment of high-ranking monks and was seen by critics as political revenge?--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 07:21, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I propose to submit hooks 2, 5 and 8. What do you think?--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 07:43, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me. Wikiman5676 (talk) 18:19, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

😰We made it.--Farang Rak Tham (Talk) 11:50, 3 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
