Notice of Wikiquette Assistance discussion
Hello, Wesley Mouse. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Wikiquette assistance regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.Bleubeatle (talk) 23:06, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not impressed in all honesty, and the timing isn't exactly ideal. But nevertheless I have read your statement, and have complied an in-depth report in response to it. However, it is that lengthy that I am asked how the WQA team would prefer me to submit the report, whether it be in segments or all of it in one go. Once I get a response, my report will be submitted, and then we can proceed with what I can only describe as a debacle. Wesley☀Mouse 00:31, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
A cupcake for you!

Hi
Hi, this discussion about Ell&Nikki might interest you.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:41, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. Very interesting indeed, especially the comments of "Unfortunately, the deletion discussion didn't turn out as a planned", yet he stated several times that he had no "intentions"... tripped up on his own words there. And furthermore, "Since no one replied to my input in the discussion" - so nobody participated in the discussion? I must have dreamt all the comments everyone posted all over the place. Wesley☀Mouse 19:45, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- The user seems to not accept any comments which goes against the user's own opinions. And it seems like the user is asking alot of questions, but when answer's are given Bleubeatle simply asks them over and over again at numerous talk pages. What bothers me the most is the users incapability to just let the matter go. Several users have made it clear to Bleubeatle that letting the matter go is the best but the user continues to bring the subject up over and over again. I dont know what to do. It is a meta-debate.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:51, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- He is slowly going down the disruptive path, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up with a block at some stage in the near future. It is clear harassment but not the kind aimed at people in general. It is harassing the community over a topic that has been water long passed under the bridge and halfway across the Atlantic Ocean. I'm pretty much sure that Cooper warned him about his continuous disruptiveness in the past. Might be worthwhile letting him know, in case action needs to be taken. Anyhow, I've left a note on the discussion page. Wesley☀Mouse 19:56, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- I agree that Cooper should be notified about this. Yes it's clear breach of Wikipedia guidelines concerning these kind of discussions, and Bleubeatle was indeed warned about his behaviour previously.--BabbaQ (talk) 20:02, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- Done - CT Cooper has been notified. Wesley☀Mouse 20:03, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks. I dont know if notifying Bleubeatle of a mentioning about him on Coopers talk page is necessary?--BabbaQ (talk) 20:11, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure on that one to be honest. He didn't exactly have the courtesy to inform Cooper that he was talking about him behind his back. And I haven't really spoken about Bleubeatle behind his back on Cooper's page, I have merely quoted in brief what Bleu has said about Coop, so that he has a quick gist of the content. Wesley☀Mouse 20:13, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- I agree. --BabbaQ (talk) 20:15, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- I've just made that other noticeboard aware of the previous discussion at Project Eurovision, and the informal warnings issued to Bleu on there. Wesley☀Mouse 20:17, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- Good. Thank you!--BabbaQ (talk) 20:34, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- I have to say that the user is having the same tendencies when discussing other subjects. As shown here.--BabbaQ (talk) 20:39, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
- You should know that Bleubeatle has left yet another post on the discussion board about me, you and Cooper. Suddenly I am an "rude" user, and should stop the "inevitable from happening" by that the user means the merging of Ell & Nikki. I find the post a clear attempt by the user to provoke further reactions from me and a sign that the user is unwilling to understand basic Wikipedia guidelines. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 07:59, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- I've changed a wording in the Ell & Nikki article. Feel free to revert it if you don't agree. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 11:20, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Eurovision Song Contest
I have no wish to argue with an established policy that dialects should not be mentioned. However, as I said in my edit summary, the status quo is that dialects such as Vorarlbergish are currently listed in the article. If you feel strongly about this, you may wish to remove them from the article. ---Ehrenkater (talk) 15:40, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
- And as I said, if you wish to discuss this matter further, that you should do so via the project talk page, not on this talk page. Nevertheless, all Eurovision articles use the term "language" in the columns on the entry tables. Not one of them uses the term dialect, as it had been previously noted that if we were to start stating dialects, then every article would need to be revised to show Belgian French, Swiss French, Austrian German, Swiss German etc. It would just get ridiculous. The two languages that you mentioned are technically languages in their own right, and have been listed as such at Diggiloo Thrush, the website which is a reliable source used to verify languages. Re: Newsletter editorial
ohh aahh, what could I write about? Malmö, my contributions? -- [[ axg ◉ talk ]] 12:57, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- Whatever takes your fancy. Have a look at the June and July editions for examples if you like. Wesley☀Mouse 13:02, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- Also if possible, I could do with some help tweaking the newsletter layout - tried several times and just end up cursing at my laptop. In its current format, the newsletter is divided into 3 sections:
- Section 1: (Left column) Editorial/Project news - (Right column) Contest's headlines
- Section 2: Members
- Section 3: (Left column) New recruits - (Right column) Departing members.
- The way I have been trying to lay it out is as follows:
- Section 1: Editorial section
- Section 2: (Left column) Contest's headline - (Right column) Project news
- Section 3: Members
- Section 4: (Left column) New recruits message - (Right column) List of new members.
- Would you be able to help me out with that too? Its ok if you're too busy, I fully understand. Wesley Mouse 13:40, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
RE:WP:WQA discussion
Thank you for informing me of this issue. Constantly criticizing what we've said towards each other is going nowhere and I really don't want anymore arguments. I was really afraid of what you were going to say next to be honest and I couldn't even reply after what you've written towards me. But I am very pleased and I feel much better now that you've made that proposal. I just want to tell you that.
Before I make an agreement on the proposal I just want to say that I'm not sure if I agree with some of the points. Can I add something?Bleubeatle (talk) 02:27, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Just so you guys know, you are free to disagree. I can change them around until you guys agree with it.Bleubeatle (talk) 06:23, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- I've made the diplomatic proposal based on the situation. You cannot and should not be changing my comments, if you have then I would take matters further. I did state to you that you were free to support, oppose, or comment about them. That is called building a common ground, finding a mutual agreement. Wesley Mouse 07:17, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- I did not change your comments. I provided additional proposals now that's all. Bleubeatle (talk) 23:35, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- I have made my standpoint clear now on the discussion board. Either we all agree to the proposal you have made or we all know that the bickering will continue. We can not have a less restricted proposal or it will be just a matter of days before it all blows up again. Im just being real here. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 08:11, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- I agree BabbaQ. Before I submitted my proposal, I did seek an opinion to make sure that I wasn't sounding too harsh, and that the proposal was diplomatic and fair. Wesley Mouse 08:49, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- I did however reach out a hand to Bleubeatle by suggesting that if we all follow the proposal strictly for a month and we all cool down, then we could possibly bring up additions to the proposals and discuss it. But for now I am glad that you agree with me that it's all or nothing concerning your proposal.--BabbaQ (talk) 09:06, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- I just have to say even though totally unrelated too this matter that I wish you good luck with your work during the Olympics and I think London will be a great host of the 2012 Olympic Games and the Paralympics.--BabbaQ (talk) 09:09, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for the good luck wishes. The nerves are now kicking in big time. 15 days and counting!! Eeeeeeeeeeeek! I'm palpitating even now at the thought of it. Wesley Mouse 09:15, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah that will be an amazing event!.--BabbaQ (talk) 11:10, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Loreen
If you could take a look on Loreen's article I would appreciate it, because I have reverted several edits right now. This because the article looks better in it's previous version then after some major changes. I might be wrong but I feel her activism and her career should be kept apart. Also the article looked messy with the new edits. But take a look. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 23:04, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
- Looks amazing in its current format now. Only thing I would change is the album listed TBA. For one its redlinked, and two the singles listings has an album title "Rapture". Wesley Mouse 09:45, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

- Solved it, I needed a navbar thing. Wesley Mouse 23:31, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Paris Hilton
Hi, I dont know if the subject interest you but could you take a look at the Paris Hilton article. A user and obvious fan of Hilton has made massive changes to her article and in a tone that to me mostly reminds me of a gossip magazine article. I have reverted all the user's edits but I feel some more point of views are needed so if you got some time please check it out. I do feel that the reverts has been justified so far. Also in my opinion even a much more established user shouldn't do such massive changes as the user has done without proper consensus for them at the articles talk page which I have tried to get theuser to realise. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 22:22, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- Urgh, I can't stand Paris Hilton. She irritates the hell out of me - but as you are a good friend on here, I shall take a look at it for you. Wesley Mouse 22:25, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- Honestly I feel the same as you. But I came across the article and find that it had been heavily edited and I just couldn't ignore it. Thank you very much my friend.--BabbaQ (talk) 22:28, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- I've read the users edit summaries too, and not impressed to be honest. Have left a WP:MOS warning, and informed them that this is meant to be an encyclopaedia not a magazine gossip column. Wesley Mouse 22:36, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- As I expected. Thank you for your help!--BabbaQ (talk) 22:38, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
- On a different note tough, have you noticed ESC 2012 lately and a matter of a GA? Tomorrow's my last day on here for a while. Travelling down to London on the 20th, my first shift at the Olympics is 21st July. I'm not sure if I'll get time to access the internet as much as I normally do, but what chances I do get I will use wisely on here. Wesley Mouse 22:43, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

- The user on the Paris Hilton article I told you about yesterday has left me one last nasty message it seems. Full of personal attacks as expected,I hope someone will warn the user about it. On a more positive note it seems the user is giving up on it's campaign to make Hilton's article into a fan page.--BabbaQ (talk) 20:51, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

No worries about standing up for you with that incident. I couldn't sit back and see another editor receive such uncivil abuse. And I expected that I would have got something in backlash too, how I managed to keep my cool God only knows. As for the Paris Hilton incident, don't worry too much about it. From looking at the discussions on the article talk page, it seems as though the majority are in agreement that the user is straying off manual of style. Another editor is going to be keeping an eye on proceedings just in case though. And yes, the biggest show on Earth is a matter of days away now. I can't believe that it was August 2005 that I expressed an interest for being a volunteer, and then in 2010 I submitted my application, and now 2012 is here and the games are about to begin - yes I'm nervous, but I tend to work better under pressure. I plan to pop in here on my shift-days off, and check up on messages, and to send out the Project Eurovision newsletter too. There's a surprise in this next edition for all project members, ut I won't say too much now as its a surprise. Take care, and I'll chat more soon. London's is beckoning my presence lol. Bienvenue! Willkommen! Welcome! Please be warm-hearted in encouraging everyone to do their best to contribute to all Eurovision-related Wikipedia articles, and welcome our new members to the project. The past month has been an eventful one for the project as a whole. Old dramas have closed, new ones have begun. Four articles nominated for GA review, three of them passed and promoted, with one of them making ProjectEurovision history by being the first annual contest article to ever achieve GA status. If it wasn't for the hard work and the many hours of team collaborations that we have endured on this project, then those accolades would never have been gained. Each of those article promotions are as a result of your continuous determination to be part of the best team this project has seen for a long time. There is a teamwork barnstar with this newsletter for you to cherish and you may display the award on your pages if you wish. Now we look to the months ahead and start preparations for Malmo 2013, and see if we can work to getting another annual article to GA status. Here's to you - the team of excellence.
Happy editing! | ||||||

Clarification of Clarify
I clarified what I meant by "clarify" on the IOA/IOP merge discussion. Just a heads up. Smartyllama (talk) 23:18, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- Whoa, now that has just confused me even more. Rewind a bit, clarified the clarify of urgh too many clarifies that my brain just exploded. Wesley Mouse 23:20, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- Ooohhhh now I know what you mean. Phew, my head isn't sore now. I was like "eh, what?" when I read that above lol. Believe me being a volunteer at these Olympics are causing my brain to go on overload and I'm starting to lose track of my own brain. ARGH stressed, how many shifts do I have left? Oh until September, pft! Wesley Mouse 23:22, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
No problem.... You never did clarify, though. I'm not sure if you're still confused or if it's the frazzling that distracted you. Either way, let this serve as a friendly reminder to respond there to my request for clarification. :-) Smartyllama (talk) 23:34, 23 July 2012 (UTC
Looks like we cross-posted. Smartyllama (talk) 23:50, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
Thank you
Thank you for helping me with the Paris Hilton article and user Erica. Please keep an extra eye on her edits. She still seems a bit trigger-happpy with her edit's on the article in my opinion. Tonight is the night London 2012!! Cheers!--BabbaQ (talk) 13:42, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Something also tells me when reviewing user Erica's edits and comments that the user isn't very old perhaps a teenager with a certain pro-Paris view however in good faith. So be aware of that. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 16:58, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Right now I am trying to save Marjorie Orbin from AfD deletion and otherwise mostly following the Olympics actually! It is a great Olympic games so far!--BabbaQ (talk) 12:49, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Jerusalem
I don't know how much you're anti-Semitic. But to say that Jerusalem is not a Jewish capital is the most anti-Semitic in the world ! . פארוק (talk) 13:14, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- What are you going on about? I haven't even said anything of the sort. Are you getting someone else's edits confused with mine? The only posts I have said about the Jerusalem article was to a user (probably yourself, not too sure) to inform them that images are not suppose to be added at the very top of an article, above the lead section as that goes against the manual of style for Wikipedia. Images are suppose to be added into the article itself in the sections relating to the image if possible. The fact that you have just launched a personalised attack on me for no reason is just out of order, and don't be surprised if someone notices and takes action on my behalf. Wesley Mouse 13:17, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Why did you delete the pictures ?, And why the images are shown in the Small pictures ?. Maybe to put the flag of Palestine is more important than to show the real Jerusalem, although there is no such country, and there is no such thing. פארוק (talk) 13:33, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- And thank you for calling me a person who hates Jewish - even though I have to strongly disagree with your point of view towards myself. I have many good friends who are of Jewish religion, so if I was to be anti-Semitism then wouldn't that basically mean I hate my own friends too? My real middle name is even Jewish. As for the photos I have already told you, images are not to be added at the very top of an article - it is a preferred manual of style. The way articles are set out is to have the top section (known as the lead) summarise the entire article briefly. Some articles have an infobox on the right side of them. Then the article itself covers the subject in more detail divided into relevant sections. Images may be added to those sections to illustrate what is being said in them - images do not get added to the summary lead. And why are you still posting racial remarks towards me? I'm in the right frame of mind to report this, as you are seriously violating no personal attacks. Wesley Mouse 13:38, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- On the Talk Page of the article of "Israel =>> [1]" and also Here =>> [2] There are whole paragraphs of anti-Semites calling delete the word "Jerusalem" as Israel's capital, And this is in addition to some trolls who write Against Jews. פארוק (talk) 13:42, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- What are you going on about? I haven't even posted any comments on the Israel or Jerusalem talk pages. Please double check who has written what, before wrongfully accusing people. Wesley Mouse 13:44, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- I'm sorry if i offends you. just know that is attack on Israel's Articles. פארוק (talk) 14:06, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Who has attacked Israel's articles and by what means have they done so? Please understand that I haven't said anything about hating Jewish people, or wanting to delete Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel, or that I may or may not be a Palestinian supporter. To be honest, I recognise every nation in the world, regardless of what others think. I believe in equality and that everyone has the right to believe in what they feel is right, even if others may think its wrong. I am glad that you have understood the images problem though, and have now inserted them into the article itself - which by the way look like a good improvement. Is Jerusalem the capital of Israel? I was talking to an athlete from Israel while working at London 2012 Olympics, and they told me they come from Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel. Now I'm confused as to which is the capital city. Wesley Mouse 14:12, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've left פארוק a message on their talk page. I'm assuming that should be the end of it, unless I need to block someone for personal attacks. Dennis Brown - 2¢ © Join WER 14:17, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Although there is no embassies in Jerusalem. Tel Aviv has never been an official capital city and is also will never be a capital city. If I could express here my personal view I would also explain to you that nothing in the world called Palestine. but i can't tell you here my personal opinion. פארוק (talk) 14:28, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks Dennis. Hopefully it should be the end of it. I'm utterly baffled, anyhow need to get ready shortly. Doing a late shift in the Olympic Stadium tonight - woohoo. Wesley Mouse 14:19, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Eurovision 2013
I have created a new section about the choice of Malmö Arena. Please take a look at it. Im not sure if it is very good but I felt like it needed to be added. Feel free to change it. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 14:58, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oh and by the way. The 2012 Olympics are great so far! How are the experience so far?--BabbaQ (talk) 14:58, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- I've got a couple of days off now at the games and will resume volunteering next week, helping to prepare for the Paralympics. I had noticed the new addition and it looks good, but I have moved the section header as the details benefit the bidding phase section better than having it sectioned off individually - and also keeping things stylised in-line with the recent RfC about article layouts. Templates for articles have now been added to the project's main page for rough guidance. Wesley Mouse 15:02, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

- You're very welcome. I forgot to answer the other question that you asked too. The experience at the games is so WOW inspiring, awesome, its like being on top of Mount Everest having the biggest party ever. Met a few famous faces, almost got run over by one too. The only serious accident to have happened is one of the volunteers got killed close to the Olympic Park - they cycled into work and literally got run over by a bus. - OK, sounds awesome! Bad though with the guy that was killed by the bus. Such a tragedy midst all the fun with the Olympics.--BabbaQ (talk) 16:45, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- Could you take a look at User Erica's latests edit's on the Paris Hilton article. Seems to me she has had a relaps into her old edit behaviour somewhat. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 16:45, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

By the looks of it, Erica has discussed the majority of those edits on the article talk page before adding them. A handful of editors appear to have given her the approval to add them. Perhaps its time to engage in a new discussion on the talk page and everyone needs to explain to Erica that mass editing on articles relating to BLP's may be highly controversial especially if they are written in a "gossip magazine" style again. The way she is heading, she could end up with a topic ban if she's not too careful. Wesley Mouse 17:12, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- I have to question why other editors have approved of those edits if that is the case, perhaps they approved but she added it with a gossip magazine tone against consensus. And yes I think the edits should be reverted or atleast discussed further at the talk page. And also I agree that she need to be told with a somewhat harder tone that she is heading towards a topic ban. I also have reverted a huge removal by another user of the information on Eurovision 2013 that I added a few days ago. I hope you agree with me that it was a good expansion of details in the article. Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 17:55, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- The user removing the content at Eurovision 2013 stated his reason as Rmv section, since there is not provided full links to the sources, only link to SVT.se ESC Mainpage). But that is not true, the SVT.se sources goes to the articles about the facts so either the user can not read Swedish and jumps to conclusions or the user just removed it without checking at all, it's one of the two.--BabbaQ (talk) 18:00, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

WikiProject Eurovision: Recent changes
Hello,
Please note that there have been some changes to operations surrounding Eurovision articles, these being that:
- Template names have now been modernised and/or megred into super-templates, for example Countries in the Eurovision Song Contest has now been merged into Template:Eurovision Song Contest making it even easier to find everything under one template. If you are planning to create a new template, please keep the standardised titles in mind. Other templates have been modernised and a full list of them can be found here.
- The Eurovision Song Contest and Junior Eurovision Song Contest articles have now been standardised to keep a consitancy throughout the project and to the genral reader too. Skeleton article drafts can be found for Eurovision Song Contest by Year and Junior Eurovision Song Contest by Year.
If you have any questions, please ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Eurovision.

- This seems like an old message that has been sent again. Do you know why this has happened? CT Cooper · talk 16:24, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- I was trying to send out a notice to members about the skeleton articles and came across an old notice so used that as a guide - but somehow its mixed up half of the old message with the new one. Possible its through the copy/paste action that hadn't noticed the older section gets mixed in. The second bullet-point is what should have gone out. Wesley Mouse 16:28, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Problem solved. I still have the notepad opened, and have got the posts mixed up. There should be a bullet point about the recent RfC at Talk:Euro included too which isn't on this post. That'll teach me a lesson to not try and do two jobs at once. Wesley Mouse 16:33, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, no worries - it's not a big deal and I will be surprised if there is any complaints from the members. CT Cooper · talk 17:14, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
Eurovision Newsletter
Hi there, I have had to remove two images from your newsletter as they were non-free and thus not allowed outside articlespace per WP:NFCC#9. Thanks, Black Kite (talk) 21:18, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- That newsletter has already been issued out to 90+ members, so the images are already out there. What do I do about all of those? Wesley Mouse 21:37, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- It's transcluded onto their pages - so removing it from the source page will automatically update their pages as well - don't worry! Black Kite (talk) 21:42, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- Its not transcluded though that's the point. The newsletter is delivered via EdwardsBot using the entire HTML code, and then a copy stored in the newsletter archives. So the image is still across other newsletters, even the same edition in my talk page archive. Wesley Mouse 21:44, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oh dear. I did wonder why the images were showing up as "94 usages" in the overuse report, usually I pick up this problem via the NFCC9 report. There's probably an easy way to fix this, let me have a think... Black Kite (talk) 21:46, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- I wasn't too sure if their use in a project newsletter would be fine or not, but was bold in adding them nonetheless - in the hope that someone would say otherwise upon publication. I've removed them from the draft newsletter template of the next edition now. Another quick question though if you don't mind me asking. Any ideas to better improve the layout for the newsletter so that it is simple but effective. Wesley Mouse 21:49, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) (edit conflict) I've just realized that these logos could potentially be re-licensed as
{{PD-textlogo}}
with{{Do not move to Commons}}
, as text and simple geometric shapes (which does include the heart; the flag if its in there is public domain) is not copyrightable under US copyright law, and only US copyright law strictly matters here. There is an ongoing process to delete those logos on Commons, which is only happening because the country of origin matters there as well - and Swiss copyright law, where the European Broadcasting Union is based, is ambiguous and potentially stricter in this area - see Commons:Commons:Deletion requests/File:142151-esc2008logo-RESIZE-s925-s450-fit.jpg. - OK, what I've done for the time being is renamed the images, and fixed the single article they were used in. The articles are therefore still correct, but they don't appear in the newsletter any more. If you relicense the images, feel free to move them back to the original names to fix the newsletters. Gettting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games
Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale (talk) 04:05, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm slightly confused with what you are asking of me here. I am a volunteer at the Paralympics, so won't have the time to be able to assist you with your quest. Also wouldn't it be a conflict of interest too, especially when I am privy to inside information during the games. Wesley Mouse 04:08, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 logo.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 03:59, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm not 100% sure what has happened here. The image originally uploaded was File:ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 logo.jpg, and licensed correctly. But upon inspection, another user has uploaded File:ABU Song Festivals 2012.png which is basically the same logo but without the colour background. All the sources state the colour background is the official logo. There is a source attached to the licensing of the black and white version - yet when I click on the link it takes me to the purple background version. Would it be possible for someone to clarify which version should be used? Thank you. Wesley Mouse 04:05, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Looking at the page source [3] it seems that the File:ABU Song Festivals 2012.png is being placed on top of the purple background, giving the File:ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 logo.jpg with the purple background. I'm of two minds on this: On one hand, the parent corporation logo [4] is usually not done in anything than blue/black & white; on the other hand, it seems like the purple motif [5] & [6] is sort of the theme/colour for the current year. I think that either would be appropriate - perhaps asking the uploader of the other image & taking it to the talk page of the article will get a bit more input on the question. Skier Dude (talk) 04:22, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Some interesting points there, thank you for taking the time to share them. The parent logo does appear to follow a blue/black & white theme. And yes, I can see now that the current black & white version would be embossed (if that is the right word) onto the purple background, thus giving it a theme for the current year. On that basis, I don't suppose it would matter having the themed version unless we incorporated that into the article to describe the theme art and kept the black & white version within the article's infobox. News
Hi, I have decided to let this one go and re-join the Eurovision project again. I have decided to look at it positive with these two AfDs resulting in merge as the information is still saved at the National articles. On the other hand I am still not in favour of the way these discussions was handled at all, and I will always consider them basic blackmail trough threats in my opinion a "black day" in Wikipedia democracy. I have also made it pretty clear of this standpoint to Bleubeatle at his talk page, hopefully he/she can prove me wrong of my opinion conerning the user. And I hope this does not result in a upcoming Mass-AfD or Mass-Merge without discussions scenario. But back to the positive, I am back and it is your birthday! Congratulations again!--BabbaQ (talk) 17:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Just to give you the notice so you can choose to either remove your comment completely or whatever. I choosed to remove mine as the user deleted some critical parts but left only fluff left. A clear distortion to only have the more positive comments left and the user has been sufficiently warned about it already.[7]--BabbaQ (talk) 16:52, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- I believe that the statements that you claim to be critical points were taken out of context. I reserve the right to remove such statements from my own talk page but I don't think that removing an entire comment is a good idea as this may offend some users. Also I believe that the diff that you provided was only an advice. Not a clear warning as you claim it to look like. Your interests in looking through my talk page history is bothering so I removed your recent post. But anyways I will be re-instating the unedited version(s) of your posts for archive purposes. If that is what you want. Bleubeatle (talk) 22:02, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- The irony here is that by selectively deleting fragments of comments by others, you were removing context, not adding it. As I've already explained to you, the right to remove content from talk pages does not override the requirement in policy to not misrepresent what others have said on your talk page, so I'm glad you have restored the remarks in full. I can understand your reluctance to delete entire threads, although you were happy to delete the one that I placed there, and in practice people tend to be very sensitive to others altering their remarks, so selectively deleting parts of comments is likely to cause more offence to users than simply deleting the entire conversation - however archiving is always preferred. - Comment - WP:DIACRITICS states the use of modified letters (such as accents or other diacritics) in article titles is neither encouraged nor discouraged. However it does mention about placing redirects at alternative titles, such as those with or without diacritics. The redirecting alternative would gain an overwhelming support from me. Wesley Mouse 01:31, 18 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, WesleyMouse, I caught your comment which P.T. Aufrette already answered. Additionally, you may or may not know this - I'm guessing not - just a brief note that that section you mention, WP:DIACRITICS, has been repeatedly edit warred by a small number of editors opposed to the fact that en.wp's European BLPs are in fact all spelled with diacritics. If you go back in the history you will find earlier versions by Polish admin Prokonsul Piotrus and Finnish admin Prolog which have been edited out. For that reason the section should really have a "under stalled discussion" or "draggingly slow edit war" tag on it. But the reality is out there in en.wp 100,000s of BLPs whatever editors have done to what that guideline says. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:59, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
- Such a shame that people edit war even on pages that are designed to be help tools and/or guidance pages for users. What possesses people to do such a disgraceful act? I think all pages that are intended to be help tools should be fully protected. Wesley Mouse 07:57, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Bienvenue! Willkommen! Welcome! Please be warm-hearted in encouraging everyone to do their best to contribute to all Eurovision-related Wikipedia articles, and welcome our new members to the project. Remember that this project can only operate if we act in a cooperative manner and engage in discussions regarding article matters. It is seen as best practice to put forward ideas to other members of the project before rushing ahead and acting on a potential falsifying action. If you feel an article may warrant a deletion, why not test the waters by opening a discussion on the article's talk page or our very own project talk page - before rushing off and submitting an AfD. It saves wasting time nominating an article for deletion which could end up with an overwhelming "keep" by other editors. Communicating with each other is a vital tool and a skill that may prove advantageous in real-life scenarios. Also be on the look out for potential new members to the project. Our argument on Eurovision Song Contest 2012 talk page.
About that I am sorry. Can we agree to disagree?--BellaFan262 (talk) 09:01, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, its been hectic with volunteering duties at London 2012 that I need reminding about things on here. What argument? Have you got me confused with someone else - or perhaps the article mixed up? Wesley Mouse 09:15, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
no it's you i need.it was about lys assia (if that is how you spell it.Sorry--BellaFan262 (talk) 14:44, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Oh yes I remember now. It was about adding Lys Assia to the returning artists section. As you may have missed it now, the article has gained WP:GA status based on its current format/content. The section for returning artists is solely for referencing the names of participants who returned to Eurovision 2012 after previously performed for a country once before. Lys Assia was only a guest in the audience (which has become an annual thing for her). As she never performed on the stage at Baku, she cannot really be classified as a returning artist in that sense. Wesley Mouse 14:47, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Ell & Nikki proposal
In regards to the Ell & Nikki article and our agreement here. I think that its too long and looking through the article again, there really isn't much activity going on with the article. But Nigar Jamal and Eldar Gasimov on other hand have done some solo activities more recently. I'm quite concerned about this. So what do you think? Bleubeatle (talk) 10:16, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Bleubeatle you are violating the proposal to which you have agreed to. I suggest you stop now, before you make things worse for yourself. Wesley Mouse 11:15, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Remember that everyone agreed to stick to the following proposal, and that we all agreed that deviating away from any of it could cause consequences on the editor deviating.
- The agreement
- All involved parties to refrain from making comments about users in regards to anything relating to the afd/merger issues, whether they by naming them directly or inadvertently naming in the context of 'a user' or 'the user'.
- Any previous comments posted on other pages other than their own (such as WT:EURO, WT:ATA, WP:EAR, and WP:WQA) to be placed in a collapsible box with a brief explanation as to why that has been done - thus wiping the slate clean, so to speak. Individuals may also implement this onto their own user talk pages at their discretion.
- Postponing any merger proposals for at least 4 months minimum - gives enough time for the dust to settle.
- Any merger proposals connected with Ell & Nikki to be supervised by an uninvolved administrator.
- If anyone is seen to be failing to comply to any of the above, then they are to be held responsible for their actions and may face possible sanctions, whether it be topic bans, interaction bans, or worse, as a consequence.
- Even the closing admin at WQA stated that we have done well to come to a mutual proposal, but in the event that a new editor uninvolved in any of this came along and did an AfD, then we (as in the four of us) would need to act diplomatic and not mention any comments from the previous outbursts etc. So I highly advise you Bluebeatle to refrain from dragging up past and wait for the 4-month cooling-off period to have taken its course. I don't fancy having my account blocked as a result of deviating away from the above proposal. But if you feel brave to run the gauntlet in having your account blocked by dragging all this up again, then feel free to run the risk. Just don't expect me to come saving your ass if the inevitable does happen. Wesley Mouse 12:35, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- It is a clear violation of the agreement that we all signed on to. That is all I have to say about it.--BabbaQ (talk) 13:10, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
So if I discuss with you what is said above I am violating it already? I kind of disagree here. Its like I'm being singled out and I can't have any word about it. I'm not even trying to cause anything. I was just asking. Bleubeatle (talk) 22:27, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- You asked, you got your answer. You escalated to ANI and it was shut down. Do you need something stronger? Toddst1 (talk) 23:12, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
- Seeing as we are barely into the first month of the agreement being imposed on us Bleubeatle, then I'd say yes, you are violating it by initiating the discussion again. And as Toddst1 says, do you really need anything stronger for it to sink into your skull that nothing is going to come of your asking. The previous AfD was a snowball keep. There's over 4 million articles, how many of those have activity on a daily basis? Just because a article has had no recent editing doesn't mean it warrants a deletion. Ell & Nikki are notable for winning a contest. If they have done more recent work as individuals then update their individual articles. Wesley Mouse 08:57, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
- I think Bleubeatle by this edit summary possibly violating policy guidelines in order to get me to qualify for a ban and putting the "leave me alone" text on his talk page has proven that he will not change. His stance is, "you are all wrong and I am 100% right and you have just not realised it yet". I think it is sad to see a user that rather risks a lenghty block and also who rather not edit on Wikipedia as much anymore just because they can not accept a general consensus concerning one article here on Wikipedia. It is very strange that the user can not see reason even after going along with a agreement. The user is also very accusive in his tone, basically saying that you and I and a few other users are "trying to get him blocked or banned" from Wikipedia and are accusing you Wesley of "violating policy guidelines" , which is totally false. We are following the guidelines and takes the proper ways to trying to solve the issues at hand while Bleubeatle wants to have it his way or no way at all and when challenged he takes it to ANI with a very accusive tone aganst us and that is the editing pattern of the user every single time. And afterwards he always says he is sorry and apologizes and tells us that it will not happen again and that we wll work it out and then a few days later it is happening all over again. The bottom line is that the user has made it impossible for himself to work along the Wikipedia guidelines for the time being, and he is now accusing us of being the reason to why he is not editing as much on Wikipedia anymore when in fact he has no one else to blame but himself. Well, hopefully the user takes sometime off Wikipedia and contemplates his behaviour and returns a better user when the time is right!. I have to be really frank here though and say that I am surprised that he isnt already blocked or topic banned or similar as he is in a clear violation of the agreement on more then one of the points that we made. It feels like he is getting chance after chance and even though I am "pro-second chances" I have to say that the user is a repeat-offender. And he is yet again offending me and you in his edit summaries for his talk page and user page and has also left a text on his talk/user pages which is indirectly directed at us. And I am getting sick of it, the text is accusive and I would like it modified not to be so accusive if it would be possible even though it is his talk/user pages. Just because it is so obviously a new personal attack towards us I would like for you to check if a block or similar is possible for breaking the agreement plus all these accusive and defamatory comments. You have to forgive me for being this honest but I feel really offended and I think the user is again and again stepping over the line when it comes to direct/indirect accusations and personal defamation of character. Sincerely. --BabbaQ (talk) 17:39, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

- (edit conflict) I too had noticed the same edit summary and the new comment, but chose to ignore it for the pure fact it was just utter blabbering nonsense. I'd like to know how any of us can be accused of singling him out though?
- He opened an AfD... it got a snowball keep.
- He went to various other talk pages... result was the same "let it drop" from everyone.
- He went to WQA... the result there was again "let it drop", and then the above agreement agreed upon.
- He then re-initiated the debate again within the first month of the proposal... he got the answer "let it drop".
- He then went to ANI (without notifying us by the way)... he got the same answer again "let it drop".
- He received a final warning... and again he failed to "let it drop" by accusing even more silly tittle tattle.
- Overall, they are not the signs of others singling him out, but the attitude of singling himself out from others. It is a shame really, but we have done the best we can to have been so supportive and get him back on the right path. Made me luagh though when he said we don't know what he has been through in his life. Maybe we haven't, but he know (as does everyone else) that I have had two deaths in the family in a short period of each other. I've had to cope with that as well as juggling with volunteering duties for London 2012, and edit on here too. So sorry, but if anyone is struggling its not him. - I think that user Bleubeatle should be block or warned not to do any more defamatory comments or accusive comments towards us. I feel quite frankly a bit offended by this never ending wave of comments from the user. And both you and I know that his latest post on his talk/user page are directed at us and I would like that removed or atleast modified even though I guess the user is entitled to put anything he likes at his talk page. I still think also that the user should be blocked for a few days or similar for breaking the agreement, I think had you or I broke it Bleubeatle would have pushed for a long block. Anyway I might be overracting but I am sick of the user. Im sorry if I am bothering your hectic schedule Wesley but I am sooooooooo sick if this user:) Sincerely!--BabbaQ (talk) 17:59, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- You could always contact Toddst1 (talk · contribs) and let him know of this latest edit summary, which is open to interpretation, as it could be accusing us but also accusing Toddst1 too. And let him know the user/talk page notices are offensive too. Toddst1 has himself stated he thinks an interaction ban is well overdue. Wesley Mouse 17:59, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- P.S. You're not bothering my hectic schedule. Thankfully its coming to a close now, got one more shift to do on 8 September and then that's my London 2012 journey drawn to a close. And yes, I agree with your point of view. Chin up buddy, and let it wash over your head. Sometimes we have to think to ourselves "are they worth it?" Wesley Mouse 18:02, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I do agree with you. The user isnt worth my time! Thank you for listening and the strawberries ;)--BabbaQ (talk) 18:32, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- No worries, glad you liked the strawberries. Feel free to pop by anytime you need to have a rant or just a good ear to listen to you. Its what we're all here for, listening, and working as an editorial team. On that note, as I have a shift-day off I think a beer or three in London sounds like the perfect ending to a stressing day. Hi
Hi Wesley. Just wanted to let you know that I mentioned you and an incident between you and Libstar in my response to the "pattern" discussion at my talk page. Just so you can respond if you feel like it! I will be off Wikipedia for atleast a week as I am going abroad. I will be back though! :) Cheers.--BabbaQ (talk) 16:10, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Oh have a lovely time wherever it is you are going on holiday/vacation. I could do with one of those actually after my volunteering period. Will keep an eye on your talk page while you're away. Wesley Mouse 16:20, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
- Im off to Cyprus for a week for some sun!. Yeah I can imagine that you need a holiday too, but thanks for staying and checking on my talk page for me when I am away! I have to say that I am surprised that Libstar tells me about his concerns about the pattern at AfDs when he himself hours later has given !votes at a few the exact same AfDs after me in a row. Also his !votes at those AfDs have no ground in any guideline while he always proclaims that when contributing to an AfD you need guidelines to back it up. It is quite odd. But honestly I feel this is more a inclusionist and deletionist discussion were Libstar feels very strongly that Delete is the only way. The pattern thing is more a result of me reading trough several AfDs and then !voting and not like the accusation made that I just !vote on several in a row without reading the articles. I just wanted to make it clear to you that I dont share Libstars view on this matter but that I will take Libstars concerns into consideration and I left a few suggestions to Libstar which I hope he will follow too from now on, when preaching you also have to listen to others preaching to you is my view here. --BabbaQ (talk) 17:13, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
