Why did u send me a smile? Ryan4314 03:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

No it's ok, I just get paranoid, I assumed you were someone I had pissed off, perhaps you should mention that you pick a random user in future. I do appreciate the gesture though, thanks Ryan4314 10:46, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

El Dorado

Looks like a reasonable link to me - far more so than the five radio stations above it. I dunno - I rarely review the external links and almost never use them - but that external entry seemed to have a lot more media than our entry, so it might be worth keeping. WilyD 20:28, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Peter T. Flawn vs Peter Tyrell Flawn

I think it depends as to how common it was for him to be called with his middle name, but Peter T. Flawn is more "Wikipediaish". Brianreading 21:08, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

User page prods

How do I do it so (relatively) quickly? Tabbed browsing (where I set up candidate pages) and a Word file of twenty or so pieces of tag text (easily altered, usually, to fit every occasion). Of course, it takes a fair amount of time to work out WHERE to find the candidate pages in the first place: what you're seeing is merely the repetitive end process. --Calton | Talk 04:26, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Howdy, Warthog Demon!

Just got your smile and many thanks for it! I was just coming to the end of a productive Wiki-Evening, and that was a nice warm fuzzy to top it off. I was trying to teach myself how to make an infobox. It was getting to the point where I was maybe just a little too drowsy to be reading instruction manuals (and I suspect that I am an undiagnosed ADD, even something akin to dyslexia, because for as much as I enjoy reading I have trouble sometimes just tracking the lines...but you didn't need to know that....). Anyhow...like it so often happens, just as I was getting really frustrated I NOTICED SOMETHING. And now it works. Yea! I hope you're having a good Wiki-Night yourself, and thanks again! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by PurpleChez (talkcontribs).

Lyrics

I don't claim to be any sort of expert on the subject of copyrights but here are my 2 cents. The first thing to do is to verify whether this is indeed a song written by Norman Martin and not just an old folk song which he made famous. That issue I can't help you settle. If it is his work then the lyrics are most likely copyright and posting them here is in principle a copyright violation. I say in principle because in this specific case, they are posted for critical commentary, for comparison with other variants and for comparison with other infinite songs. It's also such a well-known song that it would be unreasonnable to argue that their publication here has any sort of impact for M. Martin's rights to these lyrics. As such, my uneducated guess is that it is acceptable. Pascal.Tesson 04:21, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Re:The song that never ends

Good question. I don't believe that the lyrics to campfire versions are protected by copyright as they have not been published and/or registered. However, the original lyrics probably are. Do a Google search to see if you find anything. Keegantalk 05:02, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

PROD contested

You had {{prod}}'ed the article Doseuro. This was contested after the fact at DRV, and the article has now been restored. If you continue to believe that the article has been deleted, you should do an AFD nomination. (I don't think it speediable under any of the criteria for speedy deletion.) It would be best to look for some sources first, as the subject may be notable. GRBerry 18:20, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I like warthogs because I admire them for reproducing. I mean, everyone knows warthogs are ugly. That's the point of the Foxtrot strip, which is apparently too subtle for the combatants on that page. Anyway, it's kind of like with tarantulas. I wonder, do they know they're ugly? Cats are cute, and they seem to know it. Does one warthog boar say to another, "See that warthog sow? Is she ugly, or what?" Baseball Bugs 04:23, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Here is a policy that makes it not eligible for deletion, "Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable; note that it is often most appropriate to use redirects in place of articles on side projects, early bands and such. " Both Gary Hodges and Tom Moncrieff were part of Buckingham Nicks. The producer and backup vocalist Charlie Chalmers has also been a major player in the soul music industry with uncountable hits stemming from the 1950's on. This is reason enough not to delete. I'm not sure, but there is Template:Uw-trivia, which asks users not to add meaningless trivia, which kind of covers that topic. There might be one in the deprecated Template:TestTemplates. Natalie 03:39, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Groucho questioning Chico on the witness stand in Duck Soup:

Groucho: Now, what is it that has four pair of pants, lives in Philadelphia, and it never rains but it pours?
Chico: Atsa good one. I give you three guesses.
Groucho: Now, let me see... has four pair of pants, lives in Philadelphia.... Is it male or female?
Chico: No, I no think so.

I declined speedy on this one, they assert (a) oldest X west of the Mississippi, (b) an Olympic sponsorship, and (c) inventing NFL team flags. All unsourced, as usual, heck they should have said they made the flags on the moon. Anyway, feel free to Afd this one, I did tag for sourcing and notability already, but an afd is probably in order. Re your messages, Yes, they're all semi-protected with no expiration. While he only hit your first archive, his pattern indicated he would hit the others, so I took preventive action. It will stay protected unless you ask for it to be removed or another admin undoes the protection. Your user page protection is set to expire in a day. That was also preventative. As for the revert summaries, I didn't mind, actually, I barely noticed with all the reverting going on. As you might have figured out, I was using my user page as a canary to figure out what his next IP was. That's why I was protecting all the articles and everybody else's pages that were hit, but not mine. I got a little tired of it after awhile though. -- Gogo Dodo 19:05, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

I can see it just fine, even before your fix. About that RfA, yeah, I reverted the whole thing. That was out of process, so needed to get undone. -- Gogo Dodo 19:37, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

If you're up for it, here's another little task

User:Cunsimin has uploaded a bunch of images of a French Rugby player, every one I've checked is a copyvio of something, but there's a bunch I haven't checked yet. If you tag em I can delete em, but I can't just delete em (so the etiquette goes) singlehandedly. Lmk and I'll pass on sweaty rugby players (which may or may not be a step up from dung)...
