Intelligent Speaker moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Intelligent Speaker, is currently an ad and does not demonstrate notability. Since you have a conflict of interest with the product, we ask that you don't create the article directly in mainspace but rather that you submit it through Articles for Creation.

I've moved your article to drafts. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace (which it currently is not), please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.

Thjarkur (talk) 19:13, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have conflict of interests - this is article about my product, but I added as a reference interview about this product on independent media - dev.by, and this product was a featured editors pick, and have a lot of users. This is not enough? What can I improve?
Vitaly Zdanevich (talk) 19:29, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Well first of all the article is currently just an advert. The single interview is a start but it's not enough to demonstrate WP:GNG. If your product ever becomes notable enough to be included in an encyclopedia, someone uninvolved will eventually write about it. – Thjarkur (talk) 20:19, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Intelligent Speaker

[edit]

Hello, Vitaly Zdanevich. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Intelligent Speaker".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 05:33, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Platinum Searcher, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Nomination of Remark42 for deletion

[edit]
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Remark42 is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Remark42 until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

File formats

[edit]

Hello,

On 16 October 2021 you asked at the help desk how you could upload MP3 files to Commons. Might I suggest you convert whatever files you wish to upload to ogg? You can do this with a program like ffmpeg; with that program, all you would need to do is open a terminal, navigate to the folder with the MP3 file, and type ffmpeg -i [filename].mp3 [filename].ogg. Compared to MP3, ogg is not a proprietary format and provides better quality for a smaller filesize. Regards, DesertPipeline (talk) 22:33, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, yes, I can convert to opus, but if source file is already mp3 - I want to save quality - additional reencoding will reduce it. Vitaly Zdanevich (talk) 01:43, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you can upload both an MP3 and an ogg version when you want to upload something encoded as MP3 by default? The same applying for any other proprietary format file you want to upload. DesertPipeline (talk) 16:25, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
MP3 _was_ proprietary, now it is open. And opus provides better size/quality ratio than vorbis, ogg can be a container format - not an encoding format. No value to waste Wikimedia servers space by uploading two formats - original mp3 and opus in reduced quality. Vitaly Zdanevich (talk) 20:23, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was under the impression that MP3 was patent-encumbered. I checked the article on it and didn't see that anywhere. I guess I was confused? Sorry about that. DesertPipeline (talk) 17:29, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BitTorrent File System moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to BitTorrent File System. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and most of the current sources are unreliable crypto-centric news organizations. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 22:26, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake, didn't see the article was still being actively edited, so I shouldn't have draftified it so fast. Nonetheless, it would be a good thing to review Wikipedia:Notability (cryptocurrencies) while writing the article (and, if present, disclose any conflict of interest you have, given the article's slightly promotional tone). Chaotic Enby (talk · contribs) 22:28, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have no crypto wallet, no conflict of interests here. Vitaly Zdanevich (talk) 22:48, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about David Scott (video game developer)

[edit]

Hello Vitaly Zdanevich, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, David Scott (video game developer), should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Scott (video game developer).

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Miminity}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

A tag has been placed on Category:Abandonware games for Windows indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. plicit 06:36, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to Armies of Exigo, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube or Sci-Hub, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. linking to 'abandonware' game downloads is still a copyright violation issue and should never be linked to Waxworker (talk) 04:06, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
