Image:Redacesquadron.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Redacesquadron.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

needs an arbitrator in Žemaitėška wikipedia

[edit]

Sorry, I know this is not the Žemaitėška wikipedia. Though I was blocked by Hugo.arg. So I need your help as an administrater in Žemaitėška wikipedia. I have a trouble with a administrater Hugo.arg on wikipedia of Žemaitėška. I need you as an arbitrator.

  • story

I and Hugo.arg were talking on the article name of Dokdo Salas. I recommended Liancourt salas, though he didn't accepted. (see Aptarimas:Dokdo-Takešima salas) In the while, Hugo.arg suddenly move the article to Dokdo-Takešima salas, although I and Hugo.arg have not reached such an agreement. I believe, as a wikipedian with NPOV, the article Dokdo-Takešima salas should be Liancourt salas. The people on each wikipedia is admitting Liancourt is a neutral name. yes, Lithuanian wikipedia also admitted Liancourt salos is a neutral name. though, Hugo.arg didn't accept it with his own belief. and he finally changed the name Dokdo-Takešima salas with the words:"I think to use Dokdo - Takeshima also could be NPOV. Hugo.arg 16:59, 2007 rogpjūtė 21 (UTC)". (currently he put the name back. though you can see he actually changed the name, according to the moving log of Aptarimas:Dokdo-Takešima salas) I can't belive that administrator Hugo.arg changed without agreements while talking. He seems to think the article belongs to him only. at least his behavior is in such a way. He is a first editor of the Dokdo-Takešima salas. so I need the third person's arbitration as an administrator. can you be an arbitrator? and could you cancel my blocking in Žemaitėška wikipedia, if possible. my account is same name in Žemaitėška wikipedia. why should I get the penalty? he actually didn't agree with me though he moved the page. so I blamed him for the vandalism. did I do wrong? I don't think so. and finally He gave me a penalty 1 week blocking. is it a fair? --Boldlyman

Hi, thanks for getting in touch with me. I actually was a sysop on Tibetan Wikipedia, but it was on a temporary basis, and I became a lot busier in my personal life so I didn't have much time to help with Tibetan Wikipedia. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Kursas.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kursas.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Ričardas Mikutavičius

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ričardas Mikutavičius, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Ričardas Mikutavičius. Speedy deletion of Alfa.lt

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Alfa.lt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. ukexpat (talk) 19:50, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:List of wikipedias by sample of articles

[edit]

The size of the articles is calculated a characters (not bytes). And in the case of lt:Aleksandras Puškinas, it is about 27k characters. Paste in the contents into MSWord and look at the statistics window. Wikipedia displays size as bytes which is very different for non-Latin alphabets. --MarsRover (talk) 04:34, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Macernis.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:36, 27 December 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 22:36, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for File:Macernis.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Macernis.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

MauritsBot@bowiki

[edit]

Hello Viskonsas,

Because my bot does more than only interwiki (cosmetic changes), I will need local consensus according to meta bot-policy. Is there a local discussion page for the approval of bots? I am asking this on en.wiki because my IP has been blocked too.

Kind regards, --Maurits (talk) 10:53, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Maurits. I am glad to hear from you. Your bot has done a good job in Tibetan wikipedia before I blocked it, sorry. Since Tibetan wikipedia is so small, there is no exact page for the approval of bots, so please make a formal request in the local community portal and then in meta. Do not forget to write that there are no bureaucrats there in bo.wiki and post the link to the local community portal. Best regards. -- Wisconsus TALK|things 12:24, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reaction, I will act as told. Could you unblock my IP-address so that I can make the request on the local community portal? I temporarily excluded bowiki from the bot's working list, so that it will not abuse the unblock. Kind regards, --Maurits (talk) 16:08, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have already ublocked you. Would you like me to unblock your bot in advance? -- Wisconsus TALK|things 19:06, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the unblock, I made the request. Regards, --Maurits (talk) 11:30, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Did you also make a request in meta.wiki? As I said there are no bureaucrats in bo.wiki, so you need to ask stewards in meta to have your bot flag granted. -- Wisconsus TALK|things 11:00, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The request page om meta states: "don't list your bot here if you haven't consulted the wiki for at least a week". Therefore, I'll file the request there on July 16. --Maurits (talk) 12:17, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regional beetle lists

[edit]

Hi! You placed a {{move}} tag on Category:Regional beetle lists. Firstly, that tag is not meant for categories. For proposing category renames, follow the steps described at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. (If you have problems with the nomination, drop me a message on my talk page and I'll try to help you out.) Secondly, when you do use the tag, it's supposed to be placed on the talk page, not on the article page itself. Oh, and the template's supposed to be substituted (so, write {{subst:move|NewName}} instead of just {{move|NewName}}). Let me know if my explanation doesn't seem to make sense :) Regards, Jafeluv (talk) 20:05, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of disambiguation page Antanas Pocius

[edit]

I just deleted the page Antanas Pocius (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch, which was tagged with WP:CSD#G6 as uncontroversial, with the explanation: "because it is holding up a page move or page history merge that is non-controversial or consensual, for instance reversing a redirect, or removing a disambiguation page that only points to a single article. The page to be moved to this name is Antanas Pocius (1913–1983)." But after I did so, I realized that it might not have been so uncontroversial. Since you were the editor who introduced the disambiguation, I thought I'd let you know. — Sebastian 01:41, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are as many as 4 people holding such name and surname - 3 choirmasters ([3],[4],[5] and 1 politician ([6]), so I think it is fairly enough to create an article for disambiguation, despite the fact that there are no articles about the other three (so far). -- Wisconsus TALK|things 13:19, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for clarification. If you don't mind, I will copy this discussion to Talk:Antanas Pocius and reply to it there.    (I may not be watching this page anymore. If you would like to continue the conversation, please do so here and let me know.)Sebastian 16:38, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Viskonsas! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 329 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Povilas Vasiliauskas - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Miyoko Akashi - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hello Viskonsas,

There might be an older term around somewhere, probably from Classical Chinese, but the term that would probably be used nowadays is jitin, which is basically just the Okinawan reading of the Chinese word 辞典. I think, however, most people nowadays would just use the Japanese term (which is not that different anyhow, since they are both borrowed from the same Middle Chinese word). Searching for technical terms in Okinawan won't get you so far, generally, most of the linguistic treasure chest that Ryukyuan languages have to offer is found in places besides words for dictionaries, universities, airplanes or televisions. Perhaps you have heard, for example, the saying "Nuci du takara"... when the citizens of the Ryukyu Kingdom were preparing arms to defend their independence against the invading Japanese clan of Satsuma in 1609, King Sho Nei implored his citizens to not resist with violence, but to instead be peaceful because, as that phrase means, life itself is a treasure. On a note related to "dictionary", the word for book is sumuci and the word for "word" is kutuba. --ಠ_ಠ node.ue ಠ_ಠ (talk) 13:54, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article African immigrants to Lithuania has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

article has been tagged as potential original research and lacking citations, but more seriously it has absolutely nothing to say. I can't see the remotest trace of notability

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
