About me

[edit]
Today is

I live in the U.S., currently in Dayton, Ohio. I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and grew up in a small rural town, south of St. Louis, Missouri. My interests include U. S. history, U.S. politics, world history, the arts (especially theater, literature, movies, music, and television), philosophy, science, Christianity, and peace, specifically peace as the presence of justice. I am a social worker with a graduate degree, and I enjoy reading, learning, spending time with family and friends, and being very active in my local church. I am not one that believes having a deep faith is the antithesis of reason.

My contributions here

[edit]

I have been using Wikipedia for years. My first edit on Wikipedia was on September 7 2006 regarding Ferdinand Marcos, but I did not establish this username until May 10, 2007. At that time I noticed that my IP address was also used by another user, who had some incidents of blatant vandalism and I wanted to disassociate myself from that user. I am primarily a WikiGnome. Playful and curious, I have attempted to boldly contribute where I can and I plan to do more serious research on subjects that interest me. I have enjoyed using Wikipedia to gather information and I would like to help it become the most accurate, authoritative, comprehensive resource possible. As you may see, I have a passion for neutrality and verifiability. I am an inclusionist and abhor the wholesale deletion of articles that some see as not notable. After all, as Jimbo says, "Hard drives are cheap." I also am an eventualist that strongly believes Wikipedia does not have a deadline so editors should be patient and allow articles time to develop.

Things I have done to contribute to Wikipedia.

I wrote a new article entitled Joseph Martin (speaker).
  I have actively fought vandalism.
I have acted as a WikiGnome.
  I have uploaded new images.
I have performed various maintenance tasks
Became a member of a project that interested me and started a WikiProject on Social Work.

I LOVE USRBXS

[edit]

I have also developed a love for userboxes. I, admittedly, have spent wa-a-a-a-y too much time acquiring them rather than editing the encyclopedia. In my defense, I have avoided getting embroiled in the crazy, nit-picky debates on Wikipedia (like the include/don't include a "spoiler warning" debate) by messing around with userboxes.
