Hi, how can I process I took all pictures recently uploaded 2007 July at the location obviously —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vargatamas (talkcontribs) 22:24:33, August 19, 2007 (UTC).

Pictures

[edit]
  1. Please upload your images to the Commons so all language wikis can use them. It is particularly important in your case since presumably the Romanian wiki would like to use them.
  2. An orphaned image such as Prazsmar2.jpg is almost useless since no one will ever see it. If you upload to the Commons, as a minimum, apply a category to the image.
  3. The mediawiki software is very clever at re-sizing images but it does not know how to rotate them (or about the rotation flag that Panasonic supports). So please follow the advice of my friend above and rotate portrait images before uploading. You don't need to buy photoshop - you probably got a basic image editor with your camera. I have rotated some for you but I have left a couple for you to do.
  4. Please provide at least a minimal description for each image. You don't need to go into the sort of detail as with Coal tax obelisk N003 569x.jpg but as a minimum you need to provide a few words saying what the photo is of and stating explicitly that you took it (which is not the same as you being the copyright holder).
  5. Use the {{self|author=...}} licence tag see Almakerek7.jpg. This matters with the ones I have rotated - I claim absolutely no credit or rights for what I have done.
  6. By an interesting twist, Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp. says that Almakerek3.jpg and similar should be tagged {{PD-art}} because the copyright on the mural has long expired! I won't insist but you must make it clear that it is a photo that you took of a mural.

Thanks, I will rotate, all my photos, the problem with romanian wiki, that they write absolute historical nonsense in their articles. Transylvania never mentioned being partg of Hungary, but always seems independent, Dracula, Wallachian Voivode coins money in Hungary (article Sigisoara), which is nonsense, Hungary being very strict on coinage right of the king, refer to neutral Oxford literature. They state as fact assumptions of some dobious historians. In wiki also they building they own past in the former Hungarian part. It is a long debate to you need some time to invest. I do not state the HU historians are always right, but historical documents at least have to be respected always. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vargatamas (talkcontribs) 20:31:20, August 19, 2007 (UTC).

-- RHaworth 07:55, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The above may seem a bit daunting and technical but please take the time to read it - it is all sound advice. Just to show that you have noticed it, please answer this question: what is your objection to uploading to the Commons? To set you an example, I have transferred Almakerek8.jpg to the Commons for you. Please add to the description, the date the image was taken. -- RHaworth 05:24, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I seem to be wasting my breath. Item 3 above was totally non-controversial: we do not upload portrait images lying on their sides. You appear to have read my message below re Lutheranism, why are you ignoring this? I have deleted Image:Rugonfalva1.jpg because it was not rotated. I shall continue to delete it if you upload it without roitation. What is the problem? -- RHaworth 19:39, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(Incidentally, are you left-handed? People normally rotate the camera 90 degrees clockwise for portrait shots. -- RHaworth 19:47, 19 August 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Names

[edit]

Please, don't create articles about Transylvanian villages under Hungarian names. As a general rule every Romanian village should be under the Romanian name, even the ones with Hungarian ethnic majority. As a compromise between Hung. and Romanian users we are using bilingual leads in these cases, see Székelyudvarhely as an example. Best wishes. Zello 02:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In your way of thinking Cantenbury cannot be Anglican either. I think it is obvious what was built before Reformation was Catholic. You can add this notes to Trondheim gothic cathedral, all English churches etc. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vargatamas (talkcontribs) 20:21:03, August 19, 2007 (UTC).

Thank you very much! I created the user, and I upload the pics to common as soon I have some more time. I would like to ask your assistance in the article Bran my HU name was undone, and I cannot put my comment on it. I think it is useful, because it helps the search if someone knows only the HU name, 2) HUans also live there and it is historically part of Hu as any Königsberg and Kant is German although it is in Russia, Thank you,--Vargatamas 17:40, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

[edit]

Creating village stubs, which is indeed a very useful contribution to wikipedia, you should follow general rules about formatting the lead. Always put the official name in the first place with bold letters, than the alternative names in brackets and in Italic. Take a look at my changes in the case of Hărman. Reformed Church

[edit]

Tamas, let's make a deal. You tell me where you got that information from (a book or article title), and I'll write it back in, using correct English. All right? Biruitorul 23:12, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok, but it is part of all schoolbooks. refer to the Kingdom of Hungary there you see maps, from 1541 to 1699 Hungary from today West Croatia (Cakovec) Mid Transdanubia (Papa) Slovakis (Ersekujvar) to the east Varad/Orodea, Temesvar/Timisora, pure Ottoman. The Reformed Church was in Debrecen (Calvinist Rome). Today in the mid-Alfold regions are Calvinist dominated, except where the Hapsburgs settled Catholic Germans (Svabians) in Banat, around Budapest, around Villany, Szekszard, and mid Transdanubia e.g. Mor and Slovakians in Bekes,in today Voivodina. They created the Greek Catholic Church for Rumanians and Rusins to increase on paper the number of Catholics. Only Hungarians remained Catholics in this regions are those in Jaszsag, and of bishopric Eger and neighborhood. Now is late here, but send some web/official sources.

That is a very informative answer and you clearly know a lot about the subject. However, as you are fairly new to Wikipedia, there are is something very important I should explain. We work with reliable sources: see here for details. Unfortunately, "all schoolbooks" is not reliable under our policy - we need the name of a specific book. I don't know how much the Hungarian Wikipedia's policy on this differs, but see hu:Wikipédia:Megbízható források for their statement. I've asked User:Zello to help you out some more. Unitarian villages

[edit]

Hi! I prefer to use English as we are supposed to so that nobody thinks we have secrets. :) They want to delete the category you created because it is not quite precise to say that a village (or commune) itself is Unitarian. The best way to convey the information that the majority of a village's population is Unitarian is to (1) include it in a list about such villages inside the Unitarian Church of Transylvania article, as suggested by Johnbod, and (2) to say so in the article about the village, e.g. under a "Demographics" heading (with a proper reference; preferably to the latest census). As a side note, the vast majority of Romanian editors around here are very sensible, so you can assume good faith on their part and thus avoid being bitten. :) Have a nice day, KissL 10:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see you uploaded some pictures on St. Michael Church in Cluj. First of all I think they are very beautiful. Would it be ok if these images would be uploaded to wikipedia commons so that they would be available to other wikipedias also? In case you don't know, commons is a data base with media that can be used in articles on all wikipedias. This way the pictures could be used in the German, French, Romanian, Hungarian wikipedias and any other wikipedia. R O A M A T A A | msg  17:42, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have replaced your "I'm working on it!" note with an {{underconstruction}} tag, which will have the effect you want. But even that will only protect it for a few days: if you are going to be some time about developing the article, you might do better to work on it off-line or in a user sub-page (see WP:UP#How do I create a user subpage?), and only put it in as an article when it is ready. License tagging for File:Gyulafehervar.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gyulafehervar.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:John Hunyadi, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page.
