Speedy deletion of Arumugam

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Arumugam requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. – ThatWikiGuy (talk) 16:08, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean by non-sense claim?

[edit]

May I know what do you mean here(http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Telegu_film_industry&action=history) by saying "nonsense claim, about 70 get released, with 20 being dubbings!".I only feel like laaughing at these misquotes given by guys who stay 1000s of miles away from India and might not have seen Hyderabad/Andhra Pradesh even in the wildest of the wildest dreams.First of all,I know that you're a rotten racist, that's another matter. If you want I can even produce the list of 105 Telugu films released in 2007and 100+ films released in 2005.(Excluding your so-calling dubbing films!)Anyway, what's the proof that only 75 telugu films release every year? S.GaneshKumar (talk) 16:25, 15 May 2008 (UTC) Check the list of 131 films released in 2005 if you've any doubt! http://www.cinegoer.com/telugu2005.htm S.GaneshKumar (talk) 16:35, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lovest2003.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

//Why does the article say 240 instead of 90. This is not a Balayya film to imagine whatever you want!// As for that 240 films, that's the average no. of Telugu films certified every year by the CBFC.In 2006,245 films were certified as against 223 of Hindi and 162 of Tamil.Read it here-http://www.blonnet.com/2007/11/06/stories/2007110650842300.htm I was just searching for the citation and you, posing of like an unbiased guy, removed it saying only 70 straight and 20 dubbed release every year.Lol.As for dubbed films,I've checked that more no. of dubbed films release in Hindi rather than Telugu. Of those 245,not all need to release.Like last year 105 films released starightly,60 dubbed versions and around 30-40 were not released in cinema halls. As for Balayya film or anything,I do not watch his films and I know what to watch and what not to. Cut and paste move

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. Specifically, you copied the contents of Niru (music director) and pasted it into Niru. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming an article is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. --Muchness (talk) 21:54, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

N. T. Rama Rao Jr.

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed you restoring the fair-use image Image:Yamadonga_poster.jpg on N. T. Rama Rao Jr.. The non-free fair-use images don't apply for living people when a replaceable image can be reasonably found. I'd like to clarify on this before removing it again to avoid any edit wars. Cheers! Mspraveen (talk) 05:17, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • You're a great editor and all, but why is there a full pointless image of Harbhajan Singh on Sreesanth's page. It has no significance, if you want to include the Turbanator, please get an image of the two having a face-off or Santh's reactions after the slap.

Cheers.

Universal Hero (talk) 22:51, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, obviously the latter is more preferable but it doesn't correspond with WP's copyright policy. It would not pass WP:FUC#8 either with the "significantly adds to understanding" because it would just be a guy crying and shaking hands at the media conference and this is easy to visualise. Obviously Harbhajan is 50% of that paragraph's subject. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:48, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request to move article Dasavathaaram incomplete

[edit]

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Dasavathaaram to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved, to automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 16:47, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Dasavathaaram‎. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. It wouldn't be so bad if what you were introducing wasn't misspelled and impossible (English) words. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 21:02, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you added selected songs back again; I removed it because there's nothing to say why those songs were selected, why they were important, and indeed it doesn't really add anything to the article. Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Nayanthara black.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Nayanthara black.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kevin (talk) 02:13, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

[edit]
Wikimedia UK logo
Wikimedia UK logo

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

Hey buddy!! Thanks for your kind words!! I have been really busy these past couple of weeks and hence my visits on Wikipedia have reduced drastically. Regarding Jab We Met, I am not sure if its ready for a GA yet. Before, Kapoor's article was nominated for a GA, it went through a lot of copyediting and fixing. If that's the case with the JWM article, I won't have time to fix it up. Furthermore, I will also be starting University again in about 2-3 weeks, which will further limit my time on Wikipedia :(( BTW, how are you doing these days?? You've been really quiet!! -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 01:38, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow... you went back to India?? I came to Canada when I was 9 years old and haven't been back for more than 10 years. I really want to go back there!! Has it changed a lot?? If you want to submit JWM for a GA, go ahead!! I have no problems!! However, like I told you in my previous message, if something comes up in the GA review that needs to be fixed/done, I won't be able to help do so. I will try my best to do as much as I can though I can't guarantee you that. Sorry about that :(( Regards -- Bollywood Dreamz talk 18:43, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Proposed deletion of Sati Leelavati

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Sati Leelavati, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello. I have been editing the page for the Tamil movie Leelai, and have noticed that Leelai always directs back to Naan Aval Adhu and I believe you were editing the page. This is unethical, as Leelai is the legal title of Oscar Film's movie. So it is wrong to redirect another movie to Naan Aval Adhu- They were using the title leelai ILLEGALLY, so please do not change the leelai page on wikipedia. I am one of the assistant directors of Leelai, so my job is to make sure that my movie is represented properly. I would appreciate your cooperation on this. Got ur point, mate.(i just made it bcoz i know many people know that she has one but doesn't know what exactly it is... ;).Anyway, any reason for deleting the pic in infobox?.

Here is my reasons for the pic in infobox: I wanted to put a pic which is a

-->Portrait one with high Res(if u put a wallpaper kind of thing, since the width is adjusted to 200px the image size would be roughly 200x150 which will look like a stamp size.)

-->Pic with a casual look and not a modelling kind of one.

-->Pic with a kind of indian flavour dress(of course she wouldn't hang around much in saree)

-->Particularly,Eyes facing viewers and a smiling face.(Most of the pics posted on sites are taken on shooting spots and in most of which there will be other persons covered and she bears some kind of expression.)

I'm just a newbie to this.If any of ur sentiments was hurt,I apologize for that.

I Observed that in most of celeb related wikis, there is no images involved. Now a days i hav some free time in which i intend to upload some pics.I reckon u contribute a lot to cinema related wikis. Is there anyway that we collaborate, discuss what exactly is to be put and share our views among other mates B4 editing the wiki?

Speedy deletion of Vasanthabalan

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Vasanthabalan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.

Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. macy 14:46, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understood ur intention in deleting images from sources other than ours. But i wish you should know the bussiness model around images in indian web.No website or an individual exactly holds rights over any of the images. Most of the images r taken in the shooting spot with the permission (or willingness) frm the crew and the actor(ess). Why they do so is simply bcoz they use it to promote the film.Otherwise there won't be so many pics taken around these actor(ess) giving all kind of expressions in both indoor sets and in abroad locations as well.(Just imagine,Can any one follow the crew to the abroad also to make so many clicks without their permission?).This is a kind of win-win situation to both side--The film people get their film being promoted by keeping the buzz around untill the film is released and the website which posts these pics r able to draw more audience to their sites and that results in their increased revenue frm the ads.Their bussiness model is this:Post the pics, increase visitors with which increase the ad revenue.Since the film people themselves beleive that this will help their film they allow as many people as possible to post their pics. And thats why there is the same pic available on many sites.I can name a few sites(idlebrain.com, ragalahari.com,kollywoodtoday.com....) in which we can see the same image being posted only with difference in size. The same Bussiness model holds true for the photoshoots of actors.(celeb side:Get posted in many sites to hav increased popularity, whereas for wedsite in anyway it will attract more clicks)

My Point here is:

-->No one holds rights over the images in the indian sites

-->Already almost every image is available in more than one site and their is no copyright infringement issue so far. From which we can conclude that neither the celeb nor (any of) the website hav problem in their image being shared.

-->Almost its practicaly impossible to collect every celeb snap taken by individual.(Either someone who see them on spot and get snaps won't do wiki-edits or someone editing the wiki may not hav the opportunity to take snap by themselves)

-->Something is better than nothing. So, for time being just hav a decent snap on each wiki.If anyone comes with a snap exclusively taken by them,we can make sure that it replaces the one on the wiki.

So I Conclude that No one holds exclusive rights over the images (Atleast those which being posted on Indian web) and therefore there won't be any copyright infringement issue around the images.

Abt Gautham menon ,Vikram wiki

[edit]

My view is:

Intro segment is used to establish the person with a few general fact abt him.Their won't be something that is bound to change with time.thats the reason for removing

He also had huge success with Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu starring Kamal Haasan

Hopefuly his next venture might turn out to be better than previous success and this line has to be removed then.I hav observed the same approach in many celebs wiki. For eg, see Mani Ratnam wiki and there won't be anything posted abt his films. Regarding Film career topic,

He started his career in tinsel town , working under renowned ad filmmaker and cinematographer Rajiv Menon in various commercials. He worked as an assistant director in Rajiv Menon's Directorial debut Minsaara Kanavu. He started his own ad agency "Photon Factory" before moving to cinema which is now recognized as a film production company

Please Read it again.First thing is I havn't deleted or failed to emphasize any fact.Further i think if u read between lines,it implies more.(1.Gautham started his career as an ad film assistant. 2.Rajiv was not a filmmaker then. 3.Rajiv's first directorial venture is Minsaara Kanavu. 4.Gautham's first film work as assistant director is in Minsaara Kanavu

I wanted to hav the filmography section different frm his guest role column so that it would be easy to upload his future films details and his cameo roles easily into their separate spaces and it makes his film career section entirely focusses on his directorial work. Further it would be intersting to read abt his cameo appearance as a separate one.

Vikram Wiki

His initial days in Cinema is a Tough One.His films didn't do well in box office. At that time he did any kind of work (related to cinema industry) given to him.He has acted in some ad films, has rendered voice to other heros (Notable one is for Prabhu Deva in Minsara Kanavu). He has been auditioned by prominent director Mani Ratnam for three films- Roja, Thiruda Thiruda, Bombay. Although Mani Ratnam liked his Performance,he was not given any role in those films.

Everyone knows that he struggled a lot upto the release of sethu, but only a few knows what r all the things he did at that time.Thats why i added the facts like his voice rendering for prabhu deva in Minsaara Kanavu(Among other films) and his audition by mani ratnam.(this was said by his wife suhasini in the show Hasini peasum padam in jaya tv during the review of Bheema)

I included these things in a belief that it serves the purpose of WIKI-To Share what U Know with others. If u hav something in mind on how to structure a wiki and what to share,Kindly tell me so that i can incorporate those on my further edits.

By the way,Frm ur talk page i saw something abt barnstar.Tell me something abt it.

In a hope that u agree with me in these edits,I hav these changes reverted. lol Thatsineed (talk) 22:03, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Poi Solla Porom, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Every film may deserve a stub, but it needs some content. Plot, summary, awards, something other than an infobox and a link. Terrillja (talk) 21:43, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Or even an external link just to verify the cast The Bald One White cat 21:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PROD warning

[edit]

A PROD warning has been placed on articles you created Aadu Puli Aattam and Alaiyadikkuthu expressing concern over the article. Please improve the articles to save a possible deletion. Thanks The Bald One White cat 21:54, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hope you are well. I don't mean to intrude and there is nothing wrong with a stub, but it also has to have a minimum sort of content including a link or reference to verify it. Many stubs I;ve found in the tamil stub category fail minimum requirements and I wouldn't be surpised if some people tried to speedy delete them if they came across them. I don't want to see this either but they really do need a attention. For instance Aahaa Ethanai Azhagu is how the stubs should be looking with the basics and a ref for verification. Much better thanks. I understand it is because you are attempting to take on a whole industry almost solely. COuld you also sort out the film 6'2. Cheers The Bald One White cat 13:08, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

I have seen your work in many of the Indian films and the actor and actress. Though some of the article lacks image. Can you look into this link. It has good pictures through some have watermarked and some or not. Iam not sure about the license of each image. Those image can be good if it added.--SkyWalker (talk) 18:43, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
