License tagging for Image:Niagarafallsfromtop.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Niagarafallsfromtop.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:09, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned public domain images

[edit]

The following images were uploaded by you, but are currently not in use. They have been tagged as public domain (PD), either as PD-self or other PD claim, or equivilant. These unused PD images may be subject to deletion as orphans. You may wish to add them to an article, tag them for copying to WP commons {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} or if they are no longer needed, they can be nominated for deletion by following the easy three step process at Images and media for deletion. If you have any questions, please leave me a note on my talk page. --Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 23:05, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mon meilleur ami

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mon meilleur ami, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Mon meilleur ami. Personal attacks

[edit]

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks will lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you.Canterbury Tail talk 21:25, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Severn Estuary

[edit]

I removed your photo because it shows part of the Severn upstream of the "estuary" as it is defined in the article. If you want to, you could add it to River Severn, but you need to consider whether it is informative, rather than just pretty. And, of course, it is skewed - the horizon is not level - which some editors may be unhappy about. Ghmyrtle (talk) 19:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

February 2009

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Birmingham International Airport (United Kingdom), did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Look - the links going to the Derry article need to match the title of that article. Unless the name of that article changes, the links should not. Please stop trying to change all the links to Londonderry without a consensus. FlyingToaster 22:24, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to River Foyle. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. FlyingToaster 22:30, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

Hey Umbongo91. Hopefully this doesn't sound too patronising, but this is an intervention. You're doing some great edits on Wikipedia, but others are made from a very clear political standpoint that range from bias to outright personal attacks. I'm hoping you'll stay on Wikipedia, so I'm warning you that this behavior is just not going to fly. If the opinion edits keep up, this account will be blocked and you won't be able to make those productive edits either. So I'm urging you to please just cool down. If you go to the talk pages of articles and speak calmly, people will hear you out - but going around and making edits and telling people to "take it up with you or a higher power" will get you banned in a hurry. Please consider toning it down a bit. Thanks. FlyingToaster 22:35, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Derry/Londonderry

[edit]

The consensus on Wikipedia is to call the city Derry, and the county Londonderry. This is a compromise that supports both common name, and official and local usage. Please stop changing references to Derry to read Londonderry. Continued changing against the Wikipedia practices and consensus is considered vandalism. By all means discuss the issue in a calm manner, but continuing to change references is disruptive editing and may result in you being temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia. Canterbury Tail talk 23:28, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also please do not send unnecessary emails to Wikipedia members, especially when they contain phrases like "democratic my arse." 1) You seem to be operating under the impression Wikipedia is a democracy, which it is not. Wikipedia is based on community consensus, reference and verifiability. 2) The act of Wikipedia using Derry for the city is not "ruled over by a few administrators who do not care about the masses." The article name and usage was chosen by the consensus of the Wikipedia community at large, not a few administrators. And there is plenty of rationale if you would care to read the talk page, and archives, of the Derry page and WP:IMOS you will see that it is community consensus that brought us to where we are on this article.
As for taking the issue up with higher sources, I fail to see whom or what you are talking about. If you have an issue with the naming of the city, then please discuss it in a calm and measured manner on the appropriate talk page. And just remember, Wikipedia is a neutral global encyclopaedia, not a British centric encyclopaedia, not an Irish one. Not a republican one, or a unionist one. A global neutral encyclopaedia. License tagging for File:West Heath Island.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:West Heath Island.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:10, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Starbucks City Mug

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Starbucks City Mug, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

unreferenced, orphaned, and unencyclopedic. Wikipedia is not for arbitrary lists

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Now on wikibooks

[edit]

Hello, this article has been transwikied to Wikibooks, as it doesn't really fit into Wikipedia's guidelines but works well at Wikibooks. If you wish to continue working on it, you can find it as part of a book on collectible mugs here. White Livery

[edit]

Hi,

I found out about these changes from this site here: west-midlands-buses.fpic.co.uk and have had communications with the site editor (an inspector from NXWM) to confirm they are repainting them white. I'm not 100% sure exactly why other than its because the company is soon set to be sold. So far in the livery are AG4522, WA4128, WN299 & WN4018, with at least another three buses also out and about!

Constituency maps

[edit]

Hi Umbongo,

Do you mean the numbered maps? I'd been preparing those in alphabetical order, and still have about five or six to go, of which the West Midlands is one. I'll finish the lot in the next couple of days or so. The shaded maps are already done - see, for instance, File:BirminghamLadywood2007Constituency.svg - and it's only a matter of dragging numbers onto them. Wereon (talk) 22:00, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Have a look at File:WestMidlandsParliamentaryConstituencies2007.svg. Wereon (talk) 13:19, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for Bus Changes

Hey

Sorry I always forget to put the source down, the VOSA website has changes listed for the services to the route, and this is where I've got the information from.

File:Grandcanyonstorm.jpg missing description details

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Grandcanyonstorm.jpg is missing a description and/or other details on its image description page. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.

If the information is not provided, the image may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:31, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading this media, It would be appreciated if you could add :

  • 1-2 paragraphs explaining what is shown in the image.
  • An indication of where the image was taken
  • A location marker/geocode for the location shown.
  • An explanation of how this is your own work.

As well as helping those categorising the image, it will help place the image in context and allow other users of the image (including academics) to make better use of the image :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:31, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Frankie & Benny's has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable restaurant franchise, no sources to satisfy WP:CORP

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
