Username

[edit]

Unless you are Tom Pope, you'll probably have to change your username, as it may mislead or be seen as impersonation, particularly if you're editing Port Vale F.C. or related articles - see Wikipedia:Username policy#Real names. Peter James (talk) 13:03, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sujatha Singh

[edit]

Thank you for reviewing article Sujatha Singh. Please find this google_link.Sujatha Singh India’s next foreign Secretary. If valid article please reconsider speedy deletion nomination.-- Raghith (Talk) 04:45, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. At the time it was a 1 line article with no references, links, or templates indicating an article under construction so with WP:BLP in mind I tagged the article.
Cheers,

File:AsianaAirlinesFlight214.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:AsianaAirlinesFlight214.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. [edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Port Vale F.C., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Sentinel (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:PortValeFC2013New.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Malpass93! (what I've been up to/drop me a ___) 17:18, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The subject of this article just tweeted a link to her own page, hence the current surge in vandalism. I believe this page is sourced (although it needs improvement in this area), however there needs to be more review of this article. — Confession0791 talk 04:17, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Confession0791: Given the nature of the vandalism I suspected it had been posted on 4chan or something. I've requested semi-protection at WP:RPP. Feedthepope (talk) 04:19, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

rollback

[edit]

Hi Feedthepope. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Katietalk 17:09, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Revert

[edit]

Hi I edited the article 'Mashwani' in good faith and removed much fake and wrong information -- someone keeps on readding, please see Talk Page. This whole article has been a bone of contention and I have tried to fix it , but some people are bent on self-promotion nbased on fake or dubious sources or misrepresentation of facts. I hope you will please understand this. Thanks. Im going to re edit the page. Regards. 39.54.236.125 (talk) 08:49, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Prof (r) Hilda Khan[reply]

Hi
You cannot add a term like "fallaciously" without proper citing of sources and references to back that claim up. Your edits to the article at the moment only come across as your opinion.
Please read through WP:CITE
Cheers,
DrBungle (talk) 08:54, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No sir, I have cited from two sources that both say so. See the notes./refs I have given . 39.54.236.125 (talk) 08:56, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Hilda Khan[reply]
Can you explain this edit to me please and why these cited sources and references are "fake".
Thanks
DrBungle (talk) 08:59, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes indeed-- (a) some of the sources cited are self-published ones of dubious status and provenance and are not at all reliable, since the writers are neither scholars nor real historians but either old British administrators of the 19th c who had no real knowledge of tribes and people in South Asia and had their own political agendas to win over various tribes for military or other service : or (b) other sources are cited from books written by people who have written /published their own accounts, to promote themselves or their families or their tribes. I think you would benefit if you could please also visit similar pages for many other tribes and races in Pakistan , where similar problems have been faced by editors for a long time and these unreliable edits persist , time and again; and (c) thirdly, a number of references are misquoted or miscited i.e. for example where only a 'claim' is written it is interpreted as a 'fact' which isnt the case at all. I think i have cited more recent and accurate research , based on real historical facts and sources by serious researchers and scholars- and am sure I can dig up more. I think another editor has also (on Talk Page) refereed to another new research of DNA testing or some similar scientific research showing the genetic break-up of the Mashwanis, which in fact supports and backs up research by prof Dr Dani and others. I am not a vandal but a serious research academic and occasional editor here on Wikipedia and you will note that in all cases I have tried to fix errors or deliberate miscitations or false/dubious claims by various people/tribes of Pakistani origins, based on over 30 years of ethnological study and experience. Please try to see this is in a rational light. Thanks. 39.54.236.125 (talk) 09:12, 4 May 2016 (UTC)Prof (r) Hilda Khan[reply]

Having gone through the page history I must give you a quick apology for not noticing you had added a source. The way my screen was set up hid this portion of the page and all I could see, despite scrolling down, was the (to my view) IP address addition of "fallacious" with no cited references to reinforce that claim which ordinarily is obviously not desired on Wikipedia. As for the removal of those alleged problem sources I defer that this sort of thing would require the attention of an expert on the subject matter and wikipedia policy in general - the acceptance and rejection of sources on here with regards to provenance is the subject of extensive, prolonged debate and I must confess I am not able to comment on your assertion that the sources are unreliable as I am not overly familiar with the subject matter. Again, my reversions to your edits were in regards to the addition of the potentially problematic term "fallacious."
I can see you contribute much to the project. I would invite you to create a full account in order to contribute your expertise.
Many thanks
DrBungle (talk) 09:24, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks. I had added also, here, a whole list of dubious sources cited on this page, but these seem to have vanished. I just anted to help you to understand the real problem. Yes, I hope to make a proper account, at present I dont have access to a private computer but I hope to have one soon and then have my account. If you are seriously interested in this matter , it is a serious one -- about many false/fake claims by dozens of Pakistani tribes and clans etc, on Wikipedia and one has to keep on monitoring . Until the 1980s, you will generally note that here in Pakistan many of these tribes were in agreement with their real origins. But later on, as Islamization grew here under the military regime of General Zia ul Haq, many people started to fantasize and develop new 'origin stories' making them out to be either Arabs or Afghans or some sort of foreign Muslim settlers/conquerors in South Asia. Whereas, in fact, between circa 750 CE to 1947 CE, the total population of South Asian Muslims (India, Pakistan) of foreign descent never exceeded 20-22% of the total Muslim population. The vast number of Muslims, even today, in India and Pakistan and now also Bangladesh, are descended from local converts. Sorry to be so long . F4U in Seoul War Memorial

[edit]

Hello,

So, you removed my correction in F4U survivors article. Do you have any evidence of F4U presence in Seoul? Show me please, or return my correction. I was there in June. No any F4U in War Memorial.

Best wishes, WP. --178.166.194.15 (talk) 10:14, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi
1) You changed "worthy" to "wortshy" for no apparent reason - indicator of problem edit number 1
2) You deleted a paragraph that had an external, published, 3rd party reliable citation without providing a cited source in the article for your revision- indicator of problem edit number 2
Please see this, this and this to help explain what I mean.
Cheers,
DrBungle (talk) 10:21, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
1. Sorry, just misprint. 2. Look, here is full list of aircraft exhibition in Seoul War Memorial: http://www.aviationmuseum.eu/World/Asia/South_Korea/Seoul/War_Memorial_Museum.htm No any F4U there. --178.166.194.15 (talk) 10:41, 4 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
