Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars FAC

HI, Tomcat! I think I've resolved the issues you added at the above FAC. :) Best wishes, --Khanassassin 20:08, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Barnstar

Thanks for the barnstar, much appreciated. Sarastro1 (talk) 20:06, 12 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Tomcat7, I'm doing another GA review. Sirex woodwasp will pass GA once the whole text has been thoroughly copy-edited (translated into English...). I did a section or two and then realized I was starting on a complete retread, so it's over to you. I've marked a few issues but really every sentence "needs checked". Also the lead needs to be rewritten. GA is on hold. all the best Chiswick Chap (talk) 16:12, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi Tomcat7, an update. Since there seems to be no sign of a GOCE editor, I'm copy-editing the article section by section. I have flagged a few problems that I can't translate with {{what}} for your attention.

I'd also remind you that I requested attention to the lead section, where it would be better for it simply to summarize the article rather than to introduce points requiring citations (per MoS). Then we can close out this review. all the best - Chiswick Chap (talk) 07:57, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi Tomcat7, since there has been no sign of any GOCE editor volunteering for this, I've taken the time to do it myself, and I've tidied up the doubtful points as well as extended the lead, so the article is now a GA. Chiswick Chap (talk) 11:43, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. I initally planned to expand the lead today.--Tomcat (7) 11:45, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
Oh good - there is no doubt in my mind that it would benefit from another look as my edit on it was pretty minimal. I'd still prefer it without refs, though that would mean moving the refs to the body of the article, possibly creating (a) new section(s). Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:36, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

MOS:CT

Hey TC, please see my "tactical oppose" at your move request. I also started a move request at From Dusk till Dawn. Applying this (imho quite nonsensical) rule consistently over as many articles as the current MOS:CT-wording applies to (see also Love over Gold) may be the only viable option to get as many people involved as possible, with a view to start a discussion about the wording of MOS:CT at some point. --87.79.208.25 (talk) 05:58, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, I haven't seen any comments on Talk:Paul Kariya/GA1 in over a week, I know these things take time, but I just wanted to make sure you haven't forgotten about it. Cheers. --Mo Rock...Monstrous (leech44) 19:37, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

The article is pretty long so it will take a bit time, but I may finish the review tomorrow. Regards.--Tomcat (7) 21:20, 5 December 2012 (UTC)

Unjustified removals

If you do not like a category, you are free to nominate it for deletion at CfD. There is no justification for unilaterally emptying it out of process. What you did removing people from categories like Category:Imperial Russian botanists was not justified. If you do not like the category you should nominate it for deletion, not empty it out of process.John Pack Lambert (talk) 16:53, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Re: List of Strategic Simulations, Inc. games

I'd go with the table in List of Square video games/List of Square Enix video games - with that many games, it's probably better. The types used in Dragon Quest and Looking Glass Studios are better for when it's a specific series, a shorter list, or when there's a narrative flow about the games from a single developer. --PresN 19:06, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

NA means it was released in the NA region, any country. PAL is any PAL country, JP is Japan, AUS is Australia (and New Zealand). It doesn't have to be all countries in the region, just at least one of them. Most references, like Gamespot or IGN, which you can see me citing in those lists, split it up that way. Death Trap, btw, was only released in Japan on the "home computer" (i.e. NEC PC-8801, FM-7, FM-Towns, etc)- I have it split into one line per PC/console- and it was never released on any other system. Not sure why you think it was released outside of Japan. --PresN 19:21, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

Assessment question

Hello, I've noticed that you have been doing some assessment work on a variety of topics including biology. I have been working on a mammal article, Fisher (animal) for awhile and am looking to get is assessed. I have been poking around but I haven't found an appropriate assessment page. Do you know where I should go for this request? Thanks, Atrian (talk) 13:30, 11 December 2012 (UTC)

Poor Folk

I'll be happy to, but I can't without seeing the quotes in original Russian first. Can you point me to them, please?—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); December 17, 2012; 14:27 (UTC)

Dobrolyubov's quote is in the very last section :"«В „Бедных людях“, — писал Добролюбов, —...." Regards.--Tomcat (7) 14:39, 17 December 2012 (UTC)
Sorry to be dense, but in the very last section of what? There are no quotes in Russian in the article itself...—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); December 18, 2012; 14:19 (UTC)
I mean on this page, last section, beginning with "«В „Бедных людях“, — писал Добролюбов, —..." Regards.--Tomcat (7) 14:27, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
Got it; thanks. I think the translation conveys the meaning more or less accurately, but since you are paraphrasing the passage somewhat, perhaps it shouldn't be presented as a quote but formatted as indirect speech instead? I'd change a few things in the paraphrased version (such as fixing a typo in "indentity", replacing "presents it to our verdict" with "presents it to us for a verdict", and a few other similar things), but if you are going for a full accurate quote, then in my opinion it should be re-written. Please let me know if I can help with any of it.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); December 18, 2012; 15:20 (UTC)
Ok, thanks, I will rewrite it then. Regards.--Tomcat (7) 15:52, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of King & Queen

The article King & Queen you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within 14 days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:King & Queen for things which need to be addressed. James086Talk 22:48, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

I've been reworking the refs for the John Hagelin article per your suggestion. However, I now have some overuse injuries which have slowed down my typing, and in fact I may take a break from editing completely until late this month. I'm going to push on the ref work in the next few days, but may have to stop depending on the injuries. If I don't finish within the week, I'll understand completely if you have to delist the article from GA review. I can always renominate the article early in the new year. Best wishes and thanks.(olive (talk) 03:21, 10 December 2012 (UTC))

Olive left me a message saying that she'll be taking a break. Just wanted to let you know that I'll pick up where she leaves off on the refs. I'm eager to see this get GA. TimidGuy (talk) 18:10, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks again for your review of the the Hagelin article. I finished reworking the refs using the sfn convention. Do you want to glance at it to see if it's okay? The next step will be to reorganize the bibliography so that sources are grouped by type. TimidGuy (talk) 12:47, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, Tomcat, for all your fixes to the Hagelin refs! TimidGuy (talk) 15:59, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

The current hullabaloo

Hi Tomcat, I think you would help yourself in this mess that you have gotten yourself into if you let people know that you realize that you've been doing stuff the wrong way by inserting direct translations of sources into articles which is a Copyvio, and by not properly source checking your GA nominations. If you keep acting as if you have done nothing wrong people will grow tired very quickly and you are likely to experience some kind of repercussion. You clearly have been doing problematic editing, although Chris Gualtieri is wildly exaggerating the problems, and seem intent to start a witch hunt. You could have avoided this by being more responsive to criticism early on and by not getting into edtiwars. I am convinced that you are editing in good faith, but as long as you persist in making the same types of edits that people have been criticizing most people will be quick to assume bad faith. Just a piece of advice. I want you to know that I appreciate your efforts at translating articles from other wikis, which is really important and valuable work, you have done much to improve wikipedia and these minor problems will be fixed in the long run and only the positive effects of your contributions will remain. So well done, and keep improving yourself as an editor and a colleague - that is what we all need to keep doing everyday. Best regards and the seasons greetings.·ʍaunus·snunɐw· 17:14, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

I've requested the ANI to close, it should close soon. I do not want you blocked or punished. I just realized your ability to understand English is different from mine. While I am concerned about the Eckenfelder matter, I do apologize for being harsh. I take CV and sources that do not cover the material they reference (especially at GA and FA level articles) very seriously. Let's do the RFC/U and try to resolve this. We both want Wikipedia to be better, so let's find some common ground and work together. This little dispute is sapping too much time and energy from better things. Let's work together. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:28, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Ancient Egypt help

Happy Christmas! I'm asking you for help because you're familiar with German and because you've worked with the Abutiyuw page, the only Ancient Egypt page that I've noticed recently. Could you help with the DYK review for Horus Sa? I'm running into multiple deep concerns with it, as I explained here and at the review page. Nyttend (talk) 14:15, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
