Welcome!

Hi, I hope you enjoy your time here and please also consider joining WikiProject China. Thanks! --Techfast50 (talk) 23:33, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

In response to your comment in the edit summary, the issue about the Chinese titles is not a personal problem to me. I'm trying to keep the article consistent with other articles on Chinese actors, since a number of them no longer have Chinese titles in the filmographies section anymore. Alright, you've all the time you need to expand the filmography. I've no issues with that. Thanks. 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 04:51, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Would you be able to help with sources for statements in the article Faye Wong? A lot of it seems to have been written from memory of 1990s press coverage, and lacks citations. This was the main reason that it failed to get confirmed as a "Good Article". See Talk:Faye Wong#What parts still need sources/references? for some suggestions. - Fayenatic (talk) 17:09, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

posters of the Chinese films - wikicommons

Commons|Category:Movie posters of China

Hi Timmyshin , please next time upload the posters of the Chinese films to the wikicommons. That would also good if you upload the posters again to the wikicommons.

File:Judge Bao 1993.jpg

The poster you recently uploaded File:Judge Bao 1993.jpg was listed in Category:Wikipedia non-free files with red backlink. I fixed the link to the article, and added a more detailed fair use rationale. Hopefully that will satisfy the admins. Cheers :) --Ruben[nerd] (talk) 14:44, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, even though I don't understand this part at all. Cheers to you as well Timmyshin (talk) 04:43, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Fan Hung-hsuan

Greetings Timmyshin, I just thought I'd let you know that I saw your article Fan Hung-hsuan in the New Articles list-- The information is presented clearly and is easy to understand. However, I noticed there are some holes that may need filling: the article does not contain in-line citations, and so doesn't follow Wikipedia style guidelines. It would be great if you could also improve the related article Chen Shimei.

And have a beautiful day! Cheers, Amy Z (talk) 14:17, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Request for an Interview

Hi Timmyshin,

I recently sent you a message about Fan Hung-hsuan.

I am a researcher at Carnegie Mellon University examining how to make interaction in Wikipedia more effective. Our research has shown that certain types of feedback encourage Wikipedians to edit more while others seem to discourage them. Experienced and less experienced Wikipedians seem to have different reactions to very similar feedback. I am interested in interviewing you about your reaction to the message I sent you. A discussion with you will help us better understand the types of feedback that can encourage newcomers's participation to Wikipedia without turning off old-timers.

I can talk with you via online chat, on Skype, over the phone, or just through Wikipedia messages if you are more comfortable with that. The interview should take take less than 60 minutes. You do need to be over 18 years old, and consent to be a part of the study in order to for me to interview you. This study has been approved by Carnegie Mellon's research ethics committee (the IRB), and the Wikipedia Research Committee.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. We will be glad to send you a draft describing our research results right after the interview.

Hi Amy, I really wish you good luck, but I'm not interested. Timmyshin (talk) 22:22, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Notification of move

Hi, I recently moved the template Template:Infobox Wuxia novel character to Template:Infobox wuxia fiction character and edited some fields in the infobox. I checked the pages the template linked to and found some of your sandbox pages on the list. I believe it's appropriate to notify you about the move so that you can make the corresponding changes on your pages and on Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang (two articles you've contributed a lot to). Thank you. LDS contact me 15:44, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I'm not really sure what changes are needed? Timmyshin (talk) 01:08, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Here are the changes I made:
  • author --> creator
  • novels --> appearances
  • portrayers (removed)
  • romantic_interests (added)
  • sworn --> sworn_siblings
  • sects --> organisations
  • disciples --> students
You may need to rename those fields in the infobox or else some information may not be visible. Alternatively, you can copy the new blank infobox from Template:Infobox wuxia fiction character/doc and fill in the fields again. This would probably take just a few minutes. LDS contact me 04:56, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, can you do me a favor and add "style name" and "hometown" to that template.Timmyshin (talk) 01:57, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
Oh sorry, I haven't visited this page again since I posted the earlier message. Then today I saw your name on my watchlist. Thanks for your additions. They are also quite relevant to some wuxia articles I maintain. Thanks. LDS contact me 03:29, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Wikidata

Hi there, I saw that you moved a few pages around, including one that I recently created. I'm fine with the moves, but would you mind also updating the Wikidata entries for the articles after the moves? Otherwise we lose the interwiki links. (I'm not sure if a bot will do this automatically, as the whole thing is pretty new.) -Zanhe (talk) 19:19, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm not familiar with what you are talking about... What exactly do you want me to do? Timmyshin (talk) 19:56, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Wikidata#Moved articles. -Zanhe (talk) 20:00, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
I see what you are talking about... I'm not sure, but from my experience I believe the interwiki links will automatically come back after 24 hours. If you don't mind, I'd wait that long and if it doesn't happen, then I will check and do them manually.
Sure. Let's if there's a bot doing this. -Zanhe (talk) 20:07, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
