Richfield Hospitality

Is there a way you can advise on how I can get my page back to make edits to it?? Scrfhos (talk) 21:54, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Since the page was copied form various websites such as Richfield or Hong Leong in violation of copyright I cannot restore it. So you'd need to start from scratch, The fact that you don't see the problem with the copyright or the tone indicates that you're probably too close to the subject to write a good encyclopedic article anyways. The links posted at your talk page might explain that better. Why not write about something else? --Tikiwont (talk) 08:11, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

soz. did not mean that. my greatest apologys.

I have uncollapsed the list here, as it was fairly short, and I have found before that a collapsed section in REFUND means that links to sections lower down the page don't work properly. Last time I had a big collapse I ended up making it a sub-page, but I don't think that's necessary here. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:03, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing.--Tikiwont (talk) 09:36, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Balance of Power

Recently, you undeleted the Balance of Power article for me. I'll appreciate if you can drop by and see the changes I've been making. If you can check the album articles as well, it'll be cool. Thanks! Thief12 (talk) 13:54, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Well first of all thanks for actually working on them which by no means is guaranteed where we restore prods. Beyond I think the article relies a lot on the band's own website interviews with some specialist websites that i fin difficult to gauge. As for the albums the amazon links need to go per WP:EL and beyond professional reviews that can also go to the infobox, some news articles would help. But i was only glancing over and don't get discouraged in case it gets dragged to WP:AfD. --Tikiwont (talk) 18:05, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Because it didn't really say anything else than what you wrote above and thus gave no sign of importance or meeting our inclusion guideline for websites or organizations. --Tikiwont (talk) 19:46, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Gold Coast Dollar deletion "blatant hoax"

Hello user

I am to you with dismay in your suggestion of the deletion of the Gold Coast Dollar article I started yesterday. Your deletion was based on the fact that your thought it was a blatant hoax which i will say is not only offensive but unfounded.

There is many local currencies across the world if you check the wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_currency

The gold coast dollar is Locally known currency which is getting more and more attention every day. You can check the website listed, it seems to be down at the moment but I my self have signed up for my shop to accept the currency after reading about it in the paper and speaking with a representative of GCD.

Here is a list of modern local currencies that are current and being excepted around the world. As you can see there is hundreds. I would ask you to re-instate the GCD page asap.

Gold Coast Dollar Website

Regarding the website, I just called them on the 1300 number on business card they gave me when I signed up to receive It at my shop and they told me the website was down for maintenance and revamp as they where updating the participating stores section as they have many more new business getting involved everyday. They also sent me an email from getinvolved@goldcoatdollar.com.au with a list of new shops signed up since I joined yesterday. 19 new stores in one day! list below, maybe you can add them to the article when you reinstate it.

Hair dressers: Emily Ellis, Hello Gorgeous

Supermarkets: Zahab Golbal Supermarket

Restaurants: Tandoori Place ( 10 Gold Coast locations ), Feast From The Middle East

Food Eat In/Take away: Puro Italiano Pizzeria, Chevy Kebabs, So Fresh Charcoal Chicken, BBQ Baron

Souvenir Shops: DownUnder Souvenirs

These are all local stores based in Surfers Paradise apart from Tandoori Place of which I think only one is in Surfers, the rest are scattered around the GC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 14:22, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

No offense intended but the website wasn't there I checked nor could I find any other trace searching nor did the phrase "The exact website for the company or organization behind the GCD has been vague to say the least but recent activity on there official domain has followers waiting to see what's coming up" inspire confidence. Even if correct, it may not be notable enough for an article nor would we want to advertise something that is so far just an idea. I've restored it to User:Looksee123/Gold Coast Dollar where you can add reliable sources that allow others to verify what you're saying.--Tikiwont (talk) 16:42, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Um Ok so does that mean its back online or something else, sorry im new to wiki editing.

This is pretty big as there is hundreds of companies involved so far, definitely big enough for wikipedia, for local companies on the gold coast this is looking like our saving grace in as this winters tourism is terrible.

Whats next? its back up? or of not how does it do back up? oh and P.S I heard about it in an article in the news paper and then contacted them to get them to come and tell me more, so thats a pretty reliable source, its the biggest daily news paper on the coast. I will ask other local business's to verify what im saying, if they know how to use wiki lol. I will also keep checking the progress of their site and post that when its back up. I think this is a really good thing for the people of the Gold Coast. Especially small companies like me! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 17:28, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

It means it is in draft stage. It can be added by you or others before being moved back to the original title. I'd wait until the webiste is up and you need indeed Gold Coasts' news papers writing articles about it. Other shop owners don't cut it here. Take your time, feel your way around and check out the links on your page and elsewhere.--Tikiwont (talk) 20:12, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Website is back up by the way, www.goldcoastdollar.com.au Why dont other shop owner "cut it" this is wikipedia, the website anyone can edit right? If something is a real thing with hundreds of active users than it undoubtably deserves to be here. There was already an article, thats how i found out about it. Also what happened to the original stuff i wrote? it doesnt seem to be there on the editing page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 04:17, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Good to see at least the website. I'm still not sure that it is more than a marketing initiative, so if you have a link to the article then add it to the draft. With respect tot he shop owners, I was just that testimonials of participants do no count and they may even have a conflict of interest in writing about it, if as you say the idea is that it benefits these very shops. Finally, from the history I don't think anything is missing. I restored all there was to User:Looksee123/Gold Coast Dollar so you're all set now, but don't get discouraged in case others have doubts whether it should already be covered here. --Tikiwont (talk) 08:25, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

OK thanks for restoring, Although I really am beginning to think this is a bit like a dictatorship, where real people have no say in wether or not something is real. If there is a website and hundreds of people and companies participating in something then it has rights to be posted on wikipedia. The article was a small text article in the paper, not online so no link available. Also regarding you comment "conflict of interest" this should be irrelevant, because this would clearly indicate that the gold coast dollar is an active system that should have a presence on wikipedia. The website was included in the original post im not sure it went, but just another point regarding the website, In Australia to register a website such as .com.au or net.au etc you need to be an active company and must give your company registration number or you cannot get the web address. Not like other companies where you can just register a company with a fake name or what ever, So that should also have some standing on the authenticity of it.

How many more hundreds of people would have to be involved before this becomes real enough for wikipedia lol — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 15:06, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Maybe not a dictatorship, and but many active initiatives with a website where real people 'partisipate' are not covered and deleted here if not verifiable or not deemed notable enough. Just take it as editorial advice. --Tikiwont (talk) 15:57, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

I think that this article needs to be reinstated, There seems to be enough info now to have a wikipedia article, An active company with an active website with hundreds of users that has been written about locally in the media that has banks and currency exchange companies affiliated to it. This is clearly enough to have a wikipedia page of all things, If you disagree what should be done next, you and I are just single people here, I have not seen any other apposing to the article, I understand there could be as if you they, as you are not Local the Gold Coast would not necessarily heard or seen any proof other than what I documented. You are one who apposes the page and may also only be one but I personally know of at least 30 other business's involved and have seen document proof of many more. I have emails they have sent me with company info and many images etc. Whats next? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 16:52, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

I really dont see how this works, your opinion is more valid than mine? almost like, you no best and others options are not valid. The simple fact of the matter is you are uninformed as you are not clearly living and conducting business in the area that this is happening? Can you comment and deny on the practices of the people of the african masai mara with out living and breathing it yourself? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 16:57, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia is driven by consensus, so my opinion isn't more valid than yours. Part of that consensus is reflected in guidelines such as our notability guideline on organizations according to which organizations are assessed differently than you assume. In that sense I'm anything here but mostly trying to advise you. As you say this is the encyclopedia anyone can edit, but I just wouldn't move it back without at least adding the citations you have and rather wait further. See WP:MOVE, WP:RS and WP:CITE for more info. I'm stepping back here so it doesn't get personalized further, but don't forget to actually check out the Maasai people article. --Tikiwont (talk) 08:47, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

I know well of the massai, Family ties. www.goldcoastdollar.com.au website up in full effect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 17:24, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Oh and there is still none of which i originally wrote on the draft page, where is all of that? I wouldnt want to have to write it all again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 17:27, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

hey, how do I start a review of this gold coast dollar page? Says in the terms that if we cannot come to a resolution then we should call for a review, only problem is there is nothing in the page, did you delete it or? Yeah so just want to start a topic or what ever it is, You should check the website again, heaps more up now. Companies up there and stuff too. Explains everything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Looksee123 (talkcontribs) 17:35, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Good to see eventually a meaningful website. I pointed at the massai article as an example of collaborative editing where most editors are not "living and breathing it" themselves.
As already said, I restored after your first post all revisions that were there to your space.[1] You seem to have no other deleted contributions and the only thing remaing at Gold Coast Dollar was a so called redirect to your draft. All the content there was is currently at User:Looksee123/Gold Coast Dollar.
At that place you can edit it further, ask for it to be reviewed at Wikipedia:Requests for feedback and eventually move it back when you see fit. --Tikiwont (talk) 15:21, 29 May 2011 (UTC)

University of Santo Tomas seals and emblems

Thank you so much Tikiwont! I'm afraid I might face the similar problems on the photos. So you see, the article is mostly about individual college logos, and since each college has an individual article, my plan is the get photos from there. I'm not having such a good idea, am I? Is it valid? Thanks again!Pampi1010 (talk) 03:19, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

If you look at the AfD you need first of all to look at content that can be sourced to sources external to the institution. If that can be done, and I'm not sure about it, you can still worry about which pictures can illustrate the content. Hope that helps. --Tikiwont (talk) 08:34, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Hi! Thanks for your advice! I have substantially edited the article. Someone suggested that I put temporarily example.png for the pictures, and so I did. Before I go to the Deletion Review... could you check the article if it's good to go. Thank you so much! Pampi1010 (talk) 08:42, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I see you're trying your best, but I still don't see any coverage that is substantial and not in one form or the other affiliated with the university itself . So it should be different than the UST site or a student journal and go beyond passing mention in an article about watches by someone with declared UST school pride. The other critical point is how you would want to extent the fair sue rationale of say File:UST-CollegeOfFineArtsAndDesign.png to anything but University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design. So currently I see it dim, but you can post it anytime at DRV to get further opinions. --Tikiwont (talk) 19:21, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
I see your point. Thanks. I just wonder why some articles exist when 90% of their sources come from a single non third party website. It's the same with some Seal of the <US State> articles.
LOL at the article about watches. I just can't get any sources other the ones affiliated with the univ. Hehe. Anyway, about the last point you mentioned... That file already exists, right? So why do I have to worry about its fair use rationale? Sorry... but my knowledge in wikipedia is so limited. Thanks!:) Pampi1010 (talk) 03:34, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
There is a difference between one of 3.5 million article lingering around and one challenged first at Afd and then worked hard upon. They are just at different points in their lifecycle.
There is also a difference between hosting a copy of a logo and actually 'fairly' using it. We only have the copy because it supposedly helps the reader to identify the brand University of Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design in its article. But that doesn't mean the copy can then simply be used elsewhere say in a gallery of related images. But that is the argument also of much debate which I'm not really following. Maybe after this experience you'll be in a good position to advise others.--Tikiwont (talk) 20:01, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

So in much simpler terms, I just need to explain in DRV why my article which is a gallery need to exist? Just look at this article, List of U.S. state seals. Of course, it's about the United States, so I cannot really argue about its existence. But, it's a gallery similar to my article and it doesn't cite even a single source. How just can it stand alone? Thanks! You're helping me alot! Pampi1010 (talk) 06:06, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that's what you would need to do but discussion will also address references. Beyond that it may not help too much to look at other examples but it needs to be in any case something comparable. The list of U.S state seals is different in two respects: The importance of those states as compared those of the colleges of one University and the fact that there a re articles for the seals themselves as opposed to the institutions. In that sense it can be seen as list of articles about seals for which we have different rules. As a list it is well defined, there doesn't really need any content or references beyond the links to the articles, but it is made in a way to also serve as a gallery. --Tikiwont (talk) 12:56, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
