You have went and edited and removed a lot of information from this footballers profile, for which I had cited my resources, and which were factual, such as Gunners F.C. from Harare playing a major part in the AFC Champions League, and about their series against Al-Ahly from Egypt. This was inportant information regarding this particular footballer, and I see no reason for you to remove it. I would appreciate it, if you refrained from going over my work on Wikipedia, and if you do, please contact me on my page as I am doing now, and express your reasons for such edits, I seriously consider what you are doing to some of the Ajax Cape Town player pages I have created vandalism, and would like an explanation for your behaviour. Orphaned non-free image (File:Santosctold.gif)

[edit]

You've uploaded File:Santosctold.gif, and indicated that it's used under Wikipedia's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. Wikipedia policy requires that non-free images be either used or deleted, so if this image isn't used in an article in the next week, it will be deleted.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:29, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Winnersparklogo.jpeg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Anthony Laffor, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Anthony Snoti Laffor. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 16:30, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You incorrectly moved the page. You cannot simply copy and paste an old page onto a new one, as that loses the pages article history. Since you've created the article destination already Anthony Laffor, we now need to post it at RM|requested moves, which will take a few days.--TM 16:40, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Mpblackaces.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mpblackaces.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Hellenic.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Hellenic.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hello Thuglife99! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 26 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 315 article backlog. File source problem with File:Amazulu09.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Amazulu09.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:25, 30 April 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:25, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Lyle Lakay has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable player who fails WP:ATHLETE and WP:GNG

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GiantSnowman 22:23, 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Clinton Larsen. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Clinton Larsen has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. Please do not remove Biographies of Living Persons prods from an article unless it contains at least one reliable source or was created before 18 March 2010, as you did with Bhongolwethu Jayiya. If you oppose the deletion of an article under this process, please consider sourcing the article or commenting at the respective talk page. Thank you. –Dream out loud (talk) 19:34, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Daniel Mudau. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Warning

[edit]

Please don´t remove sources and sourced information as you did in Timothy Batabaire article. You are welcome to add sources and information (if sourced), but removing sources and sourced information is definitelly a no-no. I am still strugling to understand why you did what you did on that article. FkpCascais (talk) 21:06, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, NFT is considered reliable, and they even have league matches... How are you so sure he never played there? A number of Ugandan players played in Serbia, but I doubt they mixed Batabaire with someone else... By the way, Playerhistory (temporarily unavaliable) also has the OFK Niš data. FkpCascais (talk) 18:40, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I reported you to the Football Project and if you remove again sourced information without providing a "sourced" reason I will report you for edit-warring and removing sourced information. FkpCascais (talk) 18:50, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The time range is exagerated, he played in OFK Niš at the end of 2003-04 season, and begining of 2004-05 season... We don´t have to use "our logic", and sources from that period are not obligated to add his short experience in a Second league club in Serbia. He could have well been there on loan, didn´t he? All we know is that sources do have mentioned his career with OFK Niš, and when NFT has stats they usually have them confirmed, so either you contact NFT website and ask them about those stats, or otherwise we have no reason to ignore that information. FkpCascais (talk) 21:54, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is not a question of being more reliable then, it is just that NFT in this case seems to have a more complete career account, simply that. Another thing, the time range of 2003-05 is exagerated as he basically (allegedly) played with OFK Niš in the Serbian Second League during the second half of 2003-04 season (February-June 2004), and first half of 2004-05 season (August-December 2004) which means he basically played only during 2004 in Serbia... allegedly, as you claim. And by seing the low number of matches, the time he spent in Serbia may well have been even lower, perhaps just a few months in 2004 where he played some matches of the end of 2003-04 season, and perhaps the first 3 of the 2004-05 season... maybe even on loan from Villa...
Look, I don´t mind correcting that situation if that seems to be the case, it is just that for time being his career there seems quite possible, and NFT usually have all the stats for Serbia right, otherwise mistakes are usually added as 0 (0). When they have stats from Serbia, they were allways correct, and I deal a lot with Serbian football. A number of Ugandans played and were on trial in Serbia, so it doesn´t seem strange at all.
I moved the discussion to article talk page, as indicated by GiantSnowman. FkpCascais (talk) 22:21, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am saying "maybe" because you are questioning things and because we don´t know if he played there on loan. I am not sure about African leagues, but, no, NFT NEVER got stats wrong for Serbian clubs, so there is no valid reason to leave it out. About stats for Serbian clubs, whenever they had them, they were correct. Sorry. FkpCascais (talk) 00:37, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel Mudau

[edit]

Please stop removing referenced information from articles, such as you have done at Daniel Mudau - if you have a better source, then please provide it. GiantSnowman 15:21, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you've just done the same over at Avril Phali - please stop removing references + referenced information from articles, or I will seek further action. GiantSnowman 16:13, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Miguel Timm has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

All biographies of living people created after March 18, 2010, must have references.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. GiantSnowman 15:23, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Eduan Naude has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:GNG and WP:NFOOTBALL

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Warning against vandalism

Why did you removed stats at Rudolf Bester article? Do you have some problem with stats from Serbia? Have you been doing this in many aticles? This is the last warning. FkpCascais (talk) 04:01, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, he has done it on other articles as well. GiantSnowman 10:07, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thuglife99, I will ask you please to change your form of behavior. All of us are here trying to improve articles, and removing data is really not appreciated. One thing is to have a lower league club with stats hard to confirm, but another one is to have a top league stats from just a few years ago. You seem to question NFT stats, but beside an episode related with African club stats which were added by one banned Wikipedia user (Zombie) the rest has been reliable (and the questionable stats were all from African clubs, none European). Talking specifically about Serbia, I worked in hundreds of domastic and foreign players that played in Serbia and I can´t recall even one mistake from NFT. They can lack info (exemple, they miss stats, they miss clubs or loans, or slightly miss the stats number like with Bester) but when they have stats, there wasn´t a problem with any of them. Also, as you can see with Cukaricki case for Bester, the stats are slightly different in diverse sources (NFT says 23 m 2 g; Transfermarkt says 25 m 2 g) so as you can see they are not copiying one another, and several websites follow the league there on their own.
During the last couple of years I checked most players that played in Serbia, expanding and completing their articles the best way I could, so it is not pleasent to notece someone going around removing part of that work. For instance, instead of simply removing data, you should check it and try to correct it (if wrong) as after all it is an avaliable data that you simply thought easier to erase and ignore the real work. If you ever need help, please feel free to ask, I will gladly help you, but you need to stop removing all non-South African data for no valid reason. In case of questions, you can and should allways open a thread at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football where other users may help. FkpCascais (talk) 16:34, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some tips to help you out!

[edit]

Hi Thuglife99, I thought I'd drop a few notes on your talk page with some help on writing articles :o)

First of all, it may be best for you to do a bit of reading, starting with the Wikipedia manual of style, which will give you a lot of information about how Wikipedia prefers its articles to be written. It's not as hard to follow as it might look; quite a bit of the information there probably won't be vital for you at first.

Second, I recommend you make a user sandbox - which is just an area you can use to practise in, and to make notes in, and to get things ready in. If you click this red link: user:Thuglife99/Sandbox, that will let you create that page (it gives you an edit window to start work in). Anything, anywhere, on the help and information pages which gives you an example, try it out in your sandbox until you're familiar with it.

For your article, the next thing you want to do is start collecting as much information as you can about it. Google searches (particularly in Books and Scholar) will be your best friend for this! Once you've found the information, the next most important thing is to start writing up each fact in your own words (very important, this), and make a note at the same time of exactly where that information came from. Build in the references as you go along; I'm going to copy in, down below this, a whole heap of help on doing references, which was produced by one of our best teachers (Chzz).

Here's another place that you'll find incredibly useful - citation templates which you can copy and paste into your sandbox, between <ref></ref> tags; you just fill in the blanks from your sources into the template, and you'll end up with nicely formatted inline citations :o) It all helps. Remember to add a references section to your sandbox (make a new line, and put ==References== on it, and type {{reflist}} on the next line, so that you can see how your citations look as you do them. Remember to save your page often! You don't want to lose your work.

Hopefully this will give you a good start and make life easier for you.

One last thing to keep as a motto: "It's better to write one good, well-referenced, nicely-presented article than it is to create fifty unreferenced one-line stubs!" Pesky (talkstalk!) 08:18, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How references work

[edit]

Simple references

[edit]

These require two parts;

a)
Chzz is 98 years old.<ref> "The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009. </ref>

He likes tea. <ref> [http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com Tea website] </ref>
b) A section called "References" with the special code "{{reflist}}";
== References ==
{{reflist}}

(an existing article is likely to already have one of these sections)

To see the result of that, please look at user:chzz/demo/simpleref. Edit it, and check the code; perhaps make a test page of your own, such as user:Thuglife99/reftest and try it out.

Named references

[edit]
Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook>
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref>

Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). This needs a reference section as above; please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.

Citation templates

[edit]

You can put anything you like between <ref> and </ref>, but using citation templates makes for a neat, consistent look;

Chzz has 37 Olympic medals. <ref> {{Citation
 | last = Smith
 | first = John
 | title = Olympic medal winners of the 20th century
 | publication-date = 2001
 | publisher = [[Cambridge University Press]]
 | page = 125
 | isbn = 0-521-37169-4
}}
</ref>

Please see user:chzz/demo/citeref to see the result.

For more help and tips on that subject, see user:chzz/help/refs.

Something to make your life easier!

[edit]

Hi there Thuglife99! I've just come across one of your articles, and noticed that you had to create titles for your url links manually, or were using bare urls as references.

You might want to consider using this tool - it makes your life a whole heap easier, by filling in complete citation templates for your links. All you do is install the script on Special:MyPage/common.js, or or Special:MyPage/vector.js, then paste the bare url (without [...] brackets) between your <ref></ref> tabs, and you'll find a clickable link called Reflinks in your toolbox section of the page (probably in the left hand column). Then click that tool. It does all the rest of the work (provided that you remember to save the page! It doesn't work for everything (particularly often not for pdf documents), but for pretty much anything ending in "htm" or "html" (and with a title) it will do really, really well. Happy editing! When I inserted the stats in my edit (here) I gave you the source, [1], which btw, lists all the matches in SuperLiga he played. NFT missed 2 matches somewhere in the 2007-08 season. So it is not you who needs to lend me a calculator (provocative edit summary), but it is you who needs to stop being funny and start behaving accordingly. I already told you, in case of doubt, ask. Btw, we don´t usually add the fullname version in the infobox when it is the same as in title, just when different. FkpCascais (talk) 00:41, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article ASD Cape Town has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable football academy

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. GiantSnowman 21:46, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What is notable about it? The burden is on you to prove any notability using reliable sources. GiantSnowman 22:10, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you believe it is notable I will take to WP:AFD for a wider discussion, I'll let you know when I have done so. GiantSnowman 09:12, 21 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Ryan Harrison (goalkeeper), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hastings United (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Zairon Van Beulen requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. AnupMehra 23:55, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edries Burton and Jean Marc Ithier

I am a football lover who contributes to Wikipedia but I'm not happy about the way you clear their statistics. You claim that they are wrong, I have a source which I use which is accurate and reliable (nationalfootballteams.com). According to their profiles,

Edries Burton has 555 apps and 18 goals

Jean Marc Ithier has 343 apps and 135 goals

Orlando Pirates managers template

[edit]

I was doing research on Johannes "BigBoy" Khoalane who played for Chiefs and Pirates. In that article I came across "Alex Forbes" who was a manager at Pirates in the 70s. Your recent edits to Ajax Cape Town

[edit]

Hi. Can you explain why you have removed so much information from the Ajax Cape Town article, and practically flipped the article upside down (moving segments around)? I don't understand your logic for removing such big portions of the article. You also removed all interim coaches from the clubs coaching history. But why? If you look up most football clubs coaching history on Wikipedia, the interim coaches are included. Simply because they were present as coach at the club for a duration of time. Why remove it? If you could shed some light as to why you deemed these edits to be necessary, I would appreciate it. Thank you. (Subzzee (talk) 02:48, 15 January 2014 (UTC))[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The article Samuel Julies has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Notice

The article Mosa Lebusa has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 17:50, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
