Fair use rationale for File:ABC News Theme.ogg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:ABC News Theme.ogg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:47, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Paul's theology

You were quite right, that did not look like an encyclopedia article. With this kind of essay-like contribution, the answer is often to add a PROD template with a reason like "This cites no sources and seems to be a personal essay or original research", but something as well-written as that is very likely to have been copied, so first it is worth feeding a few sentences into Google. That showed that this was copied from http://www.usislam.org/66paul.htm, so {{db-copyvio}} was what it needed. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:17, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it! --Thompson.matthew (talk) 10:23, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Altered speedy deletion rationale: Fibre industry

Hello Thompson.matthew. I am just letting you know that I deleted Fibre industry, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided, which doesn't fit the page in question. Thank you. Salvio Let's talk about it! 12:52, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi, so my criterion didn't apply to the article? Because I couldn't find the context...Sorry I've just started with page patrol. --Thompson.matthew (talk) 12:54, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry.

This was a close call, as the article was most definitely inappropriate; however, I believe it contained enough context to understand what the article was about: Coir and how you can use it, although, as I've said, it was all but encyclopaedic. So, I zapped it as A10. Salvio Let's talk about it! 13:02, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Blue Explorer and CSD G4

Hello, just so that you know, I've removed the WP:G4 tag from Blue Explorer as it does not apply to this article. G4 applies only to pages that have been deleted through an XfD deletion discussion process. Previous speedy or PROD deletions do not qualify an article for G4. I'm reviewing the article for other deletion reasons now, but please be aware of this in future. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:04, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Sorry :-(
So if somebody gets something speedily deleted, and they recreate it without changing it, do you just flag it for advertising, no significance, etc. (if it applies). ?
Sorry again I'm new to this --Thompson.matthew (talk) 01:03, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Please at least bother to read an article before tagging it.

It's the smallest bit of courtesy that someone who actually tries to write articles can ask of someone like you. [1]. The person died in 1545 as is clearly indicated in the article. If you somehow missed that then maybe the words "King", "sixteenth century", "myth", "origin of Polish kings" or ... the whole damn article could've tipped you off that this isn't a BLP.Volunteer Marek (talk) 02:38, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Oh sorry!! I'm really tired. Getting off now. Reverting that now. What a stupid mistake!!! --Thompson.matthew (talk) 02:40, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Not sure why my comments on the TALK page weren't up to your personal standards, but then again, you didn't explain why you removed them either. It's not as though I even edited the article itself, for crying out loud. Are we not allowed to use the Discussion section to point out possible glaring errors in articles any more? Please explain. 99.98.221.223 (talk) 19:46, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Reverted my changes. Sorry about that. --Thompson.matthew (talk) 01:21, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

I saw your note at User talk:JohnCD. Good catch, as the article smacks loudly of WP:SPAM. I left the author a polite note on his talk page advising him of this concern.[2] But another issue is WP:COI. The article's infobox lists "Gitanjali Group" as among the "key people", and the author's username is Ggladmin, implying the person is an administrator of the "Gitanjali Group" company. Unless the author addresses concerns quickly, this one should be G11 speedied. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 19:01, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Again, good eyes. The article "itched" at my sensiilities, So I tagged it for speedy myself. As you can see, it's gone. I'll drop a note to the author suggesting he build one in a user subpage, get in sourced to show notability, and keep its tone non-promotional. Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 19:15, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

Hi Thompson.matthew. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Salvio Let's talk about it! 10:22, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

There is a meetup happening this weekend in Perth, if you're interested. (You're in Category:Wikipedians in Perth.) — Sam Wilson ( TalkContribs ) … 08:00, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

First off, I'm a long-time editor. Please do not use canned warning templates on my talk page. Wikipedia:Don't template the regulars.

Second, User:124.169.37.208 is the IP of a long-term editor with a conflict of interest, User:Cdccyber whose advert I recently nominated for deletion. He refuses to get that he cannot promote his non-notable product, for which he charges $12,500 per seat, on Wikipedia. Once the article was deleted, he posted this message, "I no longer wish to ever again contribute anything to Wikipedia and also no longer wish to be in any way associated with it." before nominating three of my articles for deletion in retaliation. I think it is fairly safe to say that his only intent at that point was vandalism and that he should be blocked for it. Clearly, he was not editing in good faith and only a fool would continue to assume good faith in such a circumstance. Yworo (talk) 14:34, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Pointing you back to WP:DTR, which I was completely unaware of, assume good faith to me please. I was unaware of this information that you have, about how he advertised his product and didn't like the response. Personally I do not like typing, I guess Twinkle was a shortcut for me, which I won't use again if it is found so offensive. --Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 14:41, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
No worries. Yworo (talk) 14:45, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Wow, looking at contribs that must have been annoying to clean up. You have to feel for some people. My first articles were deleted and I felt annoyed at Wikipedia, but I soon learnt the notability guideline, not how to troll others. Sorry about the hassle. --Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 14:52, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
I've gone back and forth between ignoring such things and taking them off my watchlist to pursuing correcting them, due to the crazy reactions of people with conflicts of interest. This one was actually rather tame compared with a couple I've run into, who simply can't give up and create dozens of sockpuppets to try to preserve article about themselves! And think that its not obvious what they are doing!
As to getting my talk page semi-protected, I got harassed by an IP and finally had to request it at WP:RFP. Unfortunately it's only for a month. :-( Yworo (talk) 15:05, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Warning messages

I have posted an answer to your query on my talk page. I hope it is helpful. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:48, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Talk page protection

If you want your talk page semi-protected, you can take it to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection if you like, as Yworo mentioned above. However, if you ask me I will do it for you right away (if I'm still online, of course). I regard protecting talk pages as a real last resort, to be used only if vandalism is really excessive, as it unfortunately obstructs innocent unregistered or newly registered users who have a legitimate reason to post here, so I don't recommend it unless the vandalism is persistent enough to be a real nuisance. However, in extreme cases it can be justified, and I once resorted to protecting my own talk page for a while. If you do decide to go ahead, consider the possibility of having a second, unprotected, talk page in the background, say User talk:Thompson.matthew/open or something of the sort, and a link to it on this page with an invitation to users who can't post here to do so there. Theoretically there is nothing to stop the vandals just vandalising that page instead of this one, but for some reason in practice they usually don't. Perhaps there's not much fun in vandalising a page that's not very visible. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:04, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

I've just seen that you have had occasional vandalism on your user page. For a user page, as opposed to a user talk page, I see no problem with semi-protecting it indefinitely, as there is usually no reason why any new user should ever edit it. I will happily do that if you ask me to. JamesBWatson (talk) 13:10, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Cheers. --Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 13:39, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

National Forest Quiz League

Hi Matthew,

As you know I started the Wiki page for the "National Forest Quiz League" yesterday. I see that it has been tagged for deletion as it appears to be about a club. May I assure you that the N.F.Q.L. is most definitely not a club; it is, as stated on the page, a non profit making organisation which organises quizzes for participating teams. Any surplus funds that the League generates are donated to charity. The League exists simply to ensure that those of us who participate have something to do on otherwise dull Tuesday nights and to give us a chance to exercise our grey matter once a week :-) With this in mind may I request that the page be retained on Wikipedia please? If you require any further information or clarification please contact me at ashby-tim@tiscali.co.uk.

Many thanks,

Tim Clark Secretary National Forest Quiz League.

Ashby-tim (talk) 15:45, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi,
It doesn't really matter if it is a club, non for profit organisation (NPO), or business. The article met the criteria for speedy deletion under A7.
Let me explain.
For an article to be on Wikipedia, the subject has to be notable. For example, imagine if any business, club or NFP organisation was allowed to have an article on Wikipedia - there would be, well, a lot more articles than there already are!
Furthermore, I cannot undelete the page as I am not an administrator. You would have to request it from one of the 852 administrators on Wikipedia. However, I can assure you they will not undelete it, as it fails to assert notability.
Also, I will leave you with what would make your NPO notable. If you had thousands of members, celebrities involved or a murder took place (lets hope that never happens), your club may gain notability. Usually, the one key step to finding notability is finding 3rd party references, for example news reports. That being said, your NPO's article may get deleted even with those references.
Finally, you seem to have a major confict of interest with the NPO. Usually, we encourage people involved in the subject of an article (work for the company, etc), not to be involved in the articles creation or alteration. This usually causes the article to lose its neutral point of view, which causes the article to lose its formal tone. Please allow someone else to create the article (which they won't, per reasons explained above, unless the NPO gains notability).
I hope that you will find other valuable ways to contribute to Wikipedia. --Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 16:01, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

AWB edits

Hi, re edits such as this, this, this and this - please see AWB Rules of use no. 4 - changing e.g. {{end box}} to {{s-end}} is bypassing a redirect. This was also inconsequential because you merely moved the typo to a slightly earlier point. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:44, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

I'm kind of new

Hi, im really new here and i don't know how to incorporate copyright into the pic i just uploaded User:Tweshm1

No worries, Welcome! ;-) When I was new my image got tagged for deletion for copyright too...
The new upload wizard does everything for you, I would highly recommend it.
If you took the image yourself, then you own the rights to the image. It is highly recommended if you release this under CC3.0 (jargon for anyone can use the image, but they must say you took it), so if this is the case, add {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to the page, and leave the deletion tag. An administrator will see you have licensed it and remove the tag. Now, if this is a free image (you took it), then the file will be moved to the Wikimedia Commons.
Alternatively you can release it to the public domain with {{PD-self}}, but be warned, anyone can do whatever they want with the image without crediting you.
If you need any more help, just ask! --Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 14:32, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

Personal Feeling raised the discussion

he discussion raised in Pabulo Henrique Rampelotto Page by Headbomb is clearly moved by his personal feelings about the Journal of Cosmology and related authors. In fact, the discussion just torn around is the journal is scientific or not.

The same discussion was raised by Headbomb in the Journal Page. As expected, Headbomb` personal and vulgar comments have been denied by wiki community, and now, the page remains as an encyclopedic paper must be. But even today, this guy insists with his ignorant attacks (See Journal of Cosmology Page Discussion).

I just hope this kind of personal feelings do not happen again here and in others pages.

The Page has been improved and updated by different authors in the last days fitting as an encyclopedic paper must be: with clear, formal, and coherent information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by H.vonNeumann (talkcontribs) 19:52, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Personal attacks

I'm sorry that you see my statement as a personal attack, but I feel that it's a result of possible slight over-sensitivity on your part and a possible slight lack of hang-wringing diplomacy on my part, rather than any personal grudge hither or thither. Not being an admin doesn't justify a bad closure - there is no harm in leaving it for someone with more capable hands/tools than you yourself have access to, admins are generally good about plowing through the backlogs. Badger Drink (talk) 08:08, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Awesome! Thanks for doing the good thing. Really, in the world I grew up in, there's a difference between saying "Matthew is a fat neener-head" and "this macaroni-and-glitter-and-glue drawing [evidently done by Matthew] is bad and doo-doo". Great people make terrible decisions on occasion. Anyway, I'm all for putting this in the past - a bumpy journey to a satisfying conclusion for all, except I guess the three inclusionists blindly screaming that sources could be found for the article when all actual hunting proved otherwise. =) Badger Drink (talk) 16:03, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

relisting

Hi. I know you were trying to help, and appreciate it. But I don't think we should have a relisting at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Belg der Belgen. It already has enough input for a decision. Relisting should be used when we don't want the matter closed, because only one editor or two editors or the like have commented, and we need more comments. This clutters up the AfD list, as it suggests that the matter should not be closed just yet, as more comment is required. (unless you reverse the relisting). Many thanks. I look forward to working with you more in the future. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 04:59, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

New Page Patrol survey

New page patrol – Survey Invitation

Hello Thompson.matthew! The WMF is currently developing new tools to make new page patrolling much easier. Whether you  have patrolled many pages or only a few, we now need to  know about your experience. The survey takes only 6 minutes, and the information you provide will not be shared with third parties other than to assist us in analyzing the results of the survey; the WMF will not use the information to identify you.

  • If this invitation  also appears on other accounts you  may  have, please complete the  survey  once only.
  • If this has been sent to you in error and you have never patrolled new pages, please ignore it.

Please click HERE to take part.
Many thanks in advance for providing this essential feedback.

You are receiving this invitation because you  have patrolled new pages. For more information, please see NPP Survey. Global message delivery 13:37, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Failed AfD relists

I just came across two AfD discussions that you failed to relist properly on Oct 17, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/LGBT rights in the Commonwealth of Nations and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Al-Mawarid Bank. Please be more careful when relisting in the future. Also, the LGBT discussion probably did not justify a relist at all. Monty845 00:28, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stylianos Vlasopoulos as well. Monty845 00:32, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Your CentralAuth manual

I've asked a question at mw:User talk:Thompson.matthew/CentralAuth.Jasper Deng (talk) 03:21, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

I replied. Hope it helps. Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 04:25, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I just need to know what "trunk" means, using stable 1.18 (initial release).Jasper Deng (talk) 04:31, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Trunk is a place in subversion where minor developments usually take place. Branches are where overhauls are done, and tags are the big releases. Try that link above. At least that's how I understand it to be. Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 08:04, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes@wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:29, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Page Triage newsletter

Hey guys!

Thanks to all of you who have commented on the New Page Triage talkpage. If you haven't had a chance yet, check it out; we're discussing some pretty interesting ideas, both from the Foundation and the community, and moving towards implementing quite a few of them :).

In addition, on Tuesday 13th March, we're holding an office hours session in #wikimedia-office on IRC at 19:00 UTC (11am Pacific time). If you can make it, please do; we'll have a lot of stuff to show you and talk about, including (hopefully) a timetable of when we're planning to do what. If you can't come, for whatever reason, let me know on my talkpage and I'm happy to send you the logs so you can get an idea of what happened :). Regards, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:56, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage newsletter

Hey all!

Thanks to everyone who attended our first office hours session; the logs can be found here, if you missed it, and we should be holding a second one on Thursday, 22 March 2012 at 18:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office. I hope to see you all there :).

In the meantime, I have greatly expanded the details available at Wikipedia:New Page Triage: there's a lot more info about precisely what we're planning. If you have ideas, and they aren't listed there, bring them up and I'll pass them on to the developers for consideration in the second sprint. And if you know anyone who might be interested in contributing, send them there too!

Regards, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 00:26, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

help triage some feedback

Hey guys.

I appreciate this isn't quite what you signed up for, but I figured as people who are already pretty good at evaluating whether material is useful or not useful through Special:NewPages, you might be interested :). Over the last few months we've been developing the new Article Feedback Tool, which features a free text box. it is imperative that we work out in advance what proportion of feedback is useful or not so we can adjust the design accordingly and not overwhelm you with nonsense.

This is being done through the Feedback Evaluation System (FES), a tool that lets editors run through a stream of comments, selecting their value and viability, so we know what type of design should be promoted or avoided. We're about to start a new round of evaluations, beginning with an office hours session tomorrow at 18:00 UTC. If you'd like to help preemptively kill poor feedback, come along to #wikimedia-office and we'll show you how to use the tool. If you can't make it, send me an email at okeyes@wikimedia.org or drop a note on my talkpage, and I'm happy to give you a quick walkthrough in a one-on-one session :).

All the best, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:39, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

A big NPT update

Hey! Big update on what the developers have been working on, and what is coming up:

coding

  • Fixes for the "moved pages do not show up in Special:NewPages" and "pages created from redirects do not show up in Special:NewPages" bugs have been completed and signed off on. Unfortunately we won't be able to integrate them into the existing version, but they will be worked into the Page Triage interface.
  • Coding has been completed on three elements; the API for displaying metadata about the article in the "list view", the ability to keep the "patrol" button visible if you edit an article before patrolling it, and the automatic removal of deleted pages from the queue. All three are awaiting testing but otherwise complete.

All other elements are either undergoing research, or about to have development started. I appreciate this sounds like we've not got through much work, and truthfully we're a bit disappointed with it as well; we thought we'd be going at a faster pace :(. Unfortunately there seems to be some 24-72 hour bug sweeping the San Francisco office at the moment, and at one time or another we've had several devs out of it. It's kind of messed with workflow.

Stuff to look at

We've got a pair of new mockups to comment on that deal with the filtering mechanism; this is a slightly updated mockup of the list view, and this is what the filtering tab is going to look like. All thoughts, comments and suggestions welcome on the NPT talkpage :). I'd also like to thank the people who came to our last two office hours sessions; the logs will be shortly available here.

I've also just heard that the first functional prototype for enwiki will be deployed mid-April! Really, really stoked to see this happening :). We're finding out if we can stick something up a bit sooner on prototype.wiki or something.

I appreciate there may be questions or suggestions where I've said "I'll find out and get back to you" and then, uh. not ;p. I sincerely apologise for that: things have been a bit hectic at this end over the last few weeks. But if you've got anything I've missed, drop me a line and I'll deal with it! Further questions or issues to the usual address. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 17:13, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

New Pages update

Hey Thompson.matthew/Archive 2 :). A quick update on how things are going with the New Page Triage/New Pages Feed project. As the enwiki page notes, the project is divided into two chunks: the "list view" (essentially an updated version of Special:NewPages) and the "article view", a view you'll be presented with when you open up individual articles that contains a toolbar with lots of options to interact with the page - patrolling it, adding maintenance tags, nominating it for deletion, so on.

On the list view front, we're pretty much done! We tried deploying it to enwiki, in line with our Engagement Strategy on Wednesday, but ran into bugs and had to reschedule - the same happened on Thursday :(. We've queued a new deployment for Monday PST, and hopefully that one will go better. If it does, the software will be ready to play around with and test by the following week! :).

On the article view front, the developers are doing some fantastic work designing the toolbar, which we're calling the "curation bar"; you can see a mockup here. A stripped-down version of this should be ready to deploy fairly soon after the list view is; I'm afraid I don't have precise dates yet. When I have more info, or can unleash everyone to test the list view, I'll let you know :). As always, any questions to the talkpage for the project or mine. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 23:31, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage prototype released

Hey Thompson.matthew! We've finally finished the NPT prototype and deployed it on enwiki. We'll be holding an office hours session on the 16th at 21:00 in #wikimedia-office to show it off, get feedback and plot future developments - hope to see you there! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 03:38, 13 May 2012 (UTC)

New Page Triage/New Pages Feed

Hey all :). A notification that the prototype for the New Pages Feed is now live on enwiki! We had to briefly take it down after an unfortunate bug started showing up, but it's now live and we will continue developing it on-site.

The page can be found at Special:NewPagesFeed. Please, please, please test it and tell us what you think! Note that as a prototype it will inevitably have bugs - if you find one not already mentioned at the talkpage, bring it up and I'm happy to carry it through to the devs. The same is true of any additions you can think of to the software, or any questions you might have - let me know and I'll respond.

Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 13:25, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Deciphering activity

Can you explain to me, in detail, what prompted you to do what you did? What is your business with my User committed identity? Is there any Wikipedia Guideline or Policy that allows you to do this? Amsaim (talk) 13:05, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

I didn't specifically crack yours. I googled the result of a blank sha-512 input. Your user page came up. Click here for proof. Go to any sha-512 calculator, don't provide an input value, boom, there's your sha512 key. You need to actually set a value to your sha-512 input...keep that value, then pop the SHA-512 key on your page. Then, should your account get hacked, you give the original input value to an admin, they see what happens when they pop it in to a sha512 calculator. If the sha512 keys match, ie your input value is what was originally calculated, the admin knows you are you.
As for guidelines, you are putting the result of a calculation on the internet, so I am more than entitled to figure out what the reverse is. Trying to hijack your account, against policy. Telling you about the problem, don't think so. Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 14:25, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
PS, don't know why you seem so hostile. I saved you from, potentially, a whole lot of trouble. I see you have now provided an input value, so the problem is solved. I don't know why you wouldn't give an input value in the first place..... Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 14:29, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Please accept my apologies. I had no idea that the input text which I did provide was not calculated into the hash string. I used this page for the hash calculation as recommended in this Template (that was in 2009). From your posting on my talk page, I erroneously thought you were some kind of hacker who enjoys hacking other people's accounts (or in this case user committed identity). Thank you very much for pointing it out to me and once again sorry for the hostility. Amsaim (talk) 17:18, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

No problem :) Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 22:28, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Page Triage newsletter

Hey all. Some quick but important updates on what we've been up to and what's coming up next :).

The curation toolbar, our Wikimedia-supported twinkle replacement. We're going to be deploying it, along with a pile of bugfixes, to wikipedia on 9 August. After a few days to check it doesn't make anything explode or die, we'll be sticking up a big notice and sending out an additional newsletter inviting people to test it out and give us feedback :). This will be followed by two office hours sessions - one on Tuesday the 14th of August at 19:00 UTC for all us Europeans, and one on Wednesday the 15th at 23:00 UTC for the East Coasters out there :). As always, these will be held in #wikimedia-office; drop me a note if you want to know how to easily get on IRC, or if you aren't able to attend but would like the logs.

I hope to see a lot of you there; it's going to be a big day for everyone involved, I think :). I'll have more notes after the deployment! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 20:04, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

New Pages newsletter

Hey all :)

A couple of new things.

First, you'll note that all the project titles have now changed to the Page Curation prefix, rather than having the New Pages Feed prefix. This is because the overarching project name has changed to Page Curation; the feed is still known as New Pages Feed, and the Curation Toolbar is still the Curation Toolbar. Hopefully this will be the last namechange ;p.

On the subject of the Curation Toolbar (nice segue, Oliver!) - it's now deployed on Wikipedia. Just open up any article in the New Pages Feed and it should appear on the right. It's still a beta version - bugs are expected - and we've got a lot more work to do. But if you see something going wrong, or a feature missing, drop me a note or post on the project talkpage and I'll be happy to help :). We'll be holding two office hours sessions to discuss the tool and improvements to it; the first is at 19:00 UTC on 14 August, and the second at 23:00 on the 15th. Both will be in #wikimedia-office as always. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 15:39, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
