New Page Patrolling
Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. Please consider placing an appropriate warning, if necessary, on the creator's talk page such as I have done at User talk:Bmoch. Most user warnings are available in Twinkle. Thanks again, and keep up the good work. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 06:23, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I'll do that whenever I remember. I would also like to add that most of the non-autoconfirmed accounts who create their autobiographies are just SPAs, so it might be a waste of a diff. But anyway... →Σ ⚑ ☭ 23:49, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
A7
Thanks for the clarification. However was the article applicable for speedy deletion? Once again thanks, --Kangaroopowah 18:54, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
?
Hey there Σ hope you are well, but How come you reverted my edit , the page had no content whatsoever and i tagged it accordingly. What was the point of tagging it as G7? He may of blanked it , but it could fall under both agendas and i already tagged it as no content first anyway, which it doesnt. The editor didnt say anywhere on his talk he wanted it deleted , so it wouldnt come under G7 anyway.Goldblooded (talk) 20:19, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- G7: On author who has requested deletion, or author blanked. We WP:AGF that they want it deleted if they blank the page.
- On a different note, tagging something as A3 gives the page creator a notice that could confuse them (But I wanted it deleted, that's why I blanked it. Huh?) and, as most people get bitten after they see the word "deletion", the tag and notification could be the difference between saving or losing a new editor.
- Regarding my use of rollback there, it's just a faster way for me to correct a speedy tag. I have provided an explanation above, so it is within the policy. In short, when someone blanks the article they create, just tag it as G7 rather than A3. Thanks. →Σ ⚑ ☭ 20:29, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Your perceived sense of canvassing
In case you hadn't noticed and before you continue to say that I'm canvassing, please check my last contribution time for such, otherwise it makes you look rather silly for saying silly things when the accused has indeed stopped. I don't need remind to you of AGF but if need be, I will! --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 05:48, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- Is that an admission that you were indeed canvassing, but have now stopped? If so, then Sigma's message may merely be taken as a reminder not to do so in the future. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 06:09, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- There is nothing to AGF when you are removing messages from talk pages with the edit summary "enough is enough" (what's that supposed to mean anyway?) and copying and pasting an identical message to the talk pages of prominent editors, seen here. It will not happen again, correct? →Στc. 06:12, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- Really a no brainer here to see that you were piling on, had you chosen instead to add under User:Worm That Turned I would have understand but a new section on my discussion page just for this? Come on~! Give me a break, literally speaking as I've went off to sleep~! --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 06:24, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- That didn't answer the question, but anyway, I simply could not be bothered to wait for a whopping 60.000 bytes of talk page to completely load, so I just stuck ?action=edit§ion=new at the end of the URL. In any case you got the message, and could've merged it. →Στc. 06:39, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- And yours answered my question? How the heck was I supposed to know that you got some run-down dial-up internet connection when I'm running on a 250gbps broadband? Again, it is a matter of personal choice but why impose yours on others? Even if you're stuck with a P4 3.2ghz and I'm using an i7-990X, I still don't see myself at fault. This is going nowhere, say whatever you like and stay off my talk page in future. That way, there can be no further mis-communications on either one of us. Best and out. --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 07:00, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- Good for you, I will do so, but will watch your contributions for any more instances of biting editors on a first offence, and canvassing in deletion discussions. This conversation has occurred, so you cannot say you were not warned about either. →Στc. 07:10, 4 October 2011 (UTC)

I have taken the unusual step of removing a talk page warning you posted. request for assistance
yesterday did retrieve http://www2.hull.ac.uk/acs/lib/infoskills/caselawnew.aspx the information that is the support for having made the citations within the article Fair dealing in United Kingdom law, the content does seem to indicate that cases citated are to be written in a strict form containing the correct information.
Also, wasn't directed at anyone to have capitalized(so wasn't shouting at anyone),thought correct/preferred correct for legal form,to introduce the legal cases capitalized whilst discussion is retained as lower case(just to add about [case] and [cases]. Capitilized does implicitly indicate matters concerning the capital city i.e. matters of state, so to reduce the formal element is to lessen the importance of the location,therefore to lose some of the significance in the meaning communicated,as the legal cases do infact concerns persons involved in affairs of the city of London). http://www2.hull.ac.uk/acs/lib/infoskills/caselawnew.aspx Much of the content of this Factsheet is based on sections of the Law School library and IT manual 2006-2007 (© University of Hull), written by Kylie Baxter and Phil Bielby. also is quite difficult to understand the cases relevancy to the article discussion if there is no transcript link available, since a person would have to accept the opinion of the article(authors) without recourse to information provided for the purposes of their own learning.Drift chambers (talk) 09:32, 6 October 2011 (UTC)

It is not our practice to use symbols when commenting at AfD. We're trying to main the polite fiction that it's not a vote. (at some other Wikipedias, such as frWP, it is very definitely a vote & therefore they use symbols.) The net result is to make your comment stand out more than the others, but in the opposite direction, it might possibly give the impression that you don't understand how we work here, which would lead people to unconsciously downrate your opinion. Template testing
Hi Σ,
This summer, you commented on the Huggle experiment that Steven Walling and the WMF summer research team ran on level one vandalism warnings. I wanted to let you know that we're currently finishing up a second iteration of that experiment and about to run a third with all level one Huggle warnings (test, blanking, NPOV, etc.). The draft templates are up on the wiki. Feel free to peruse them and let us know what you think:
- {{uw-test1-rand}}
- {{uw-delete1-rand}}
- {{uw-npov1-rand}}
- {{uw-unsor1-rand}}
- {{uw-error1-rand}}
- {{uw-blank1-rand}}
- {{uw-spam1-rand}}
- {{uw-bio1-rand}}
- {{uw-attack1-rand}}
We're watching the talk pages and welcome as much community input as possible!
I also wanted to give you a heads up about something we're thinking of trying with Twinkle. There's been some community discussion (here and here) about the fact that deletion notifications sent by Twinkle look exactly like user warnings, even though they're not. I've drafted some new templates with the aim of testing to see if these do better at getting authors to participate in deletion discussions and/or improve their articles (because right now the numbers are dismally low). If this sounds interesting to you, it would be great if you could look over them and let me know what you think about this as a possible A/B test! Thanks, Maryana (WMF) (talk) 18:37, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hm, I've never seen the PROD and AfD notices as something similar to warnings, but now that it has been brought up, yes, I see how one could think of that. I think a perfect user warning requires the work of someone who is good with human communication. Would these all work for an A/B test? I think so. →Στc. 23:19, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Help needed for a student class project
Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination/SFSU Class Project and consider adding your name.
The scope of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Classroom coordination/SFSU Class Project is mainly concerned with new articles.
According to the teacher's instructions, this group of students may not create a lot of new articles, but may instead focus more on improving existing articles.

What do you think about Penny Johnston?
I tagged for primary sources but do you think she meets the notability guideline?
--Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 01:15, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
I speedy'd, because I don't think it states why she is significant, if that fails its off to AfD. --Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 01:24, 16 October 2011 (UTC)Scratch that, I'm just going to sent it to AfD to be sure. --Matthew Thompson talk to me bro! 01:26, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
- Penny Johnston demonstrates a possible notability. A BLPPROD can't be used here of course due to the many links, but a standard WP:PROD| with a suitable rationale, such as indeed primary sources, would have been the obvious choice. However, taking into account the COI, the PROD tag might probably have been contested anyway, leaving this AfD as the only solution. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:44, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

The article Coal ball you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Coal ball for comments about the article. Well done! There is a backlog of articles waiting for review, why not help out and review a nominated article yourself? →Στc. 06:05, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Time/date stamp
Hi. I'm curious about this: Timestamp to permit other editors to comment. →Στc. 11:15 am, 1 December 2011, Thursday (1 month, 12 days from now) (UTC+7). This is the second time this week that I've come across a wrong time stamp. Usually it comes from copying and pasting an old message, but there may be a bug in the system. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kudpung (talk • contribs) 02:03, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hello. I did not sign with the four tildes, but rather with 3 and a false timestamp. This ensures that MiszaBot does not archive it until that date passes. There have been very few other opinions, so I believe that letting it get archived when it actually has a chance of being partially accepted would not be a good result. →Στc. 02:18, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
- Understood. Perhaps a word in that message to that effect would allay confusion. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:24, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Ha!
I thought someone might want to makes other textual changes but... yeah, I laughed at that.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:24, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion contested: Longchamps (chain of restaurants)
Hello Σ. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Longchamps (chain of restaurants), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. Logan Talk Contributions 03:17, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- No there isn't. There isn't even a complete sentence on that. →Στc. 03:19, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but you are misunderstanding A1. A1 only applies to situations when there is no context to the article whatsoever. It doesn't have to be grammatically correct to establish context. Logan Talk Contributions 03:27, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I cannot determine what the article is about. However, I can determine whether it resembles the WP:CSD-endorsed example ("He is a funny man with a red car. He makes people laugh.") or not, the answer being yes, it does. →Στc. 03:38, 21 October 2011 (UTC)

- All it did is promote the ideas of Dr. Turner. See Speedy Deletion Criterion G11 for more details, and this page too. →Στc. 03:06, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- how did it promote the ideas of Dr. Turner? I see a very defined support of ideas on other manifesto wikis to include the communist manifesto, the huminist manifesto, and the very own Occupy Wiki itself. All i have done is post a brief history, what it is intended for in a contextual way, and the document itself.Jeremyritzmann (talk) 03:11, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- I have tagged the page yet again - see this page; Wikipedia does not exist for you to assert opinions.
- The tag was not because of the subject, but rather how the article was written. I assure you, if you stopped using the big tag and removed the content of the manifesto, which I can frankly tell you is dripping with a point of view, it would not have been tagged as it has.
- Regarding The Communist Manifesto, I also agree that the article needs cleaning. Give me 10 minutes and I will clean it, but in any case, the poor state of other articles is not a secure ground for an equally poor addition to be added. →Στc. 03:18, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Tibhath changed speedy deletion criterion
Hi Σ. You've been doing some great work at new pages patrol. Just to let you know, I didn't think this one qualified as db-nocontext, but I did delete it as a copyvio. Thanks, Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 04:14, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Replacing another link
You were so helpful back in July when you replaced a link for me. I still don't have AWB due to computer issues, so could you be so kind as to change the exact same link again for me? (It was originally on AOL pages which got taken down, and then Verizon stopped FTP access to personal pages.) The link to be changed is http://mysite.verizon.net/rtspcc/MBTARouteHistory.pdf and the new (hopefully stable) link is http://www.transithistory.org/roster/MBTARouteHistory.pdf
Thanks so much! Pi.1415926535 (talk) 00:22, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

I removed your speedy tag at Isaac kewon evans, and moved it to this noobie's page. Bearian (talk) 01:14, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
What do you think about my new proposed user name?
See WP:CHU. I'm also considering replacing "me" with "free". Would that sound too presumptuous? Uʔ (talk) 14:10, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- I see no reason to doubt the bureaucrat's judgement in renaming you to ʔ. →Στc. 23:43, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

- Verifiability, not truth. Another editor could change that to Mars, with the same rationale. Who would we know to believe without a source? →Στc. 00:04, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi Σ. I haven't seen you commenting on the meta Wikis recently. I've been adding some posts today to keep the ball rolling. Feel free to add your own comments :) Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:35, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
