Orphaned non-free image File:Corsairfly.svg
Thanks for uploading File:Corsairfly.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:05, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:PixieLottBrentwoodCountyHigh2010.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:PixieLottBrentwoodCountyHigh2010.jpg, which you've sourced to http://img243.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=280716940_Image014_122_411lo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:36, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Audie Cole
Hello Thesimsmania. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Audie Cole, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: this is not an attack page. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 17:53, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Thesimsmania. I'm just letting you know that I've declined your speedy deletion request on Phir Subah Hogi (TV series) because it is not empty. Please only tag pages with the A3 criterion when there is no content on the page whatsoever. ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 17:56, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Removing AfD template
Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Ramsey Muniz. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. This is an automated message from a bot about this edit, where you removed the deletion template from an article before the deletion discussion was complete. If this message is in error, please report it. Snotbot t • c » 00:34, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Please slow down a bit with Twinkle - three different speedies within a few minutes is confusing both for the reviewing admin - I had to do a search to be sure this was not a G4 - and, more seriously, for the article author, who gets conflicting messages on his talk page. Remember Twinkle is only a tool - you are responsible for what it does! JohnCD (talk) 20:54, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, getting a bit muddled with it and going a bit over the top with it! Was I right to mark it as a speedy delete? thesimsmania 21:07, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, it was promotional enough to be a G11, but it wasn't a G4 or a G8. JohnCD (talk) 21:36, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Would you mind checking out this article for me, the user keeps deleting the db-person tag? thesimsmania 21:38, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't see this at the time. If someone keeps removing speedies, you can give the "uw-speedy" warnings: if they do it again after {{uw-speedy4}}, report to WP:AIV. On the other hand, if the article has been improved so that it is no longer speediable, there's no point insisting on putting the tag back, just PROD/AfD/add maintenance templates/help improve it as appropriate. Speedy deletion declined: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dan J Garvey
Hello Thesimsmania. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dan J Garvey, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: no harm in AfD page remaining, and deleting it would cofuse the system. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 22:30, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- Mistake The AfD was closed while I was tagging, I didn't see the comment left by User:Gogo Dodo
- No problem. Tagging AfD pages can cause problems, because the individual AfD pages are transcluded into the daily log, so that, too, appears in the CSD list. One might hope no admin would delete it, but seeing that an admin once deleted the main page you can never be sure! JohnCD (talk) 08:04, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Speedy Deletions?
Why are you nominating Pera College for deletion?Oakley77 (talk) 00:06, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- There is little or no context, however it is notable. I've nominated the article for speedy deletion just to make sure it reaches Wikipedia consensus. That said, the article needs mass expansion, but good job for contributing to Wikipedia! thesimsmania 00:08, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
So if you think of it almost like a template(?), why are you putting on the delete tag?Oakley77 (talk) 00:11, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Understood, Thanks though!Oakley77 (talk) 00:48, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thesimsmania, you shouldn't nominate something for deletion if it is a notable topic that just needs expansion. Also, schools are not eligible for deletion under A7, it says so clearly on the template. Further to that, I have removed the speedy deletion template from Brown Rebel, as individual aircraft, boats, and products are not eligible under A7 either. --kelapstick(bainuu) 01:24, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

You can either (if the page is an attack page) mark the page for deletion using {{db-g10}}, alternatively you can contact the creator of the article and request he/she place a {{db-blanked}} tag on the page. thesimsmania 17:01, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

That AfD you wanted to speedy
None of your speedy-deletion reasons apply here; in particular, it is not a page which disparages its subject and serves no other purpose which is required for G10. There are good reasons why the record of these deletion discussions should be preserved. I have applied the standard privacy-blanking template, which also NOINDEXes the page. I do not myself think that embarrassment to a 15-year-old self-promoter is good enough reason to suppress the whole AfD record - if he learns that what you do on the internet can have real-world consequences, that's a valuable lesson. Any attempt to delete it by a deletion discussion or by request at WP:BLP/N is only likely to provide more exposure. If you are in email contact with the subject and he is still not happy, point him to WP:FEFS which tells him how to contact OTRS. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 18:20, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- PS - looking at the item above this, though that one has ended happily, we have to be rather careful with people claiming to be subject of articles, as there is no way, based on WP messages, to be sure they are who they say. WP:BLP/H has advice to point them to, and the WP:OTRS team can deal with authentication of identity by email, starting with the WP:FEFS link I gave above. JohnCD (talk) 19:02, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation newsletter
Hey Thesimsmania. I'm dropping you a note because you used to (or still do!) patrol new pages. This is just to let you know that we've deployed and developed Page Curation, which augments and supersedes Special:NewPages - there are a lot of interesting new features :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 12:58, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi and thanks - the new features seem awesome. Good job :) thesimsmania 21:57, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
I don't think it's helpful to add the "Needs sections" tag to a one-paragraph stub like this. On the other hand it would have been really helpful to remove the leading space which was making the article unreadable. And it needed {{unreferenced}}, one of the most important of tags. And {{dead end}} because it had no wikilinks (but it does have now). It only took a few minutes to clean up the article, add several useful links, etc. If you're going to do "Page Curation", please take a little more care to add relevant tags and perhaps fix up the article where it has such obvious needs. Thanks. PamD 21:16, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Hello,
The page IndieGameReviewer.com was speedy deleted and I feel it is unwarranted. I was developing it to a satisfactory state late last night and wanted to fill in the blanks today. Are you able to lend some support to reversing its deletion? I would appreciate it. The site is not a mere marketing site, but actually does provide some very valuable talks with important independent game developers (that were listed in my writeup) that I feel are of great interest to young aspiring game designers. I think that whomever deleted it acted too hastily and the decision is unwarranted.
I appreciate any support you may lend in this matter.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:BrentwoodCountyHighVIForm.png
A tag has been placed on File:BrentwoodCountyHighVIForm.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. thesimsmania 18:50, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Thesimsmania. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
