A tag has been placed on Michael Mozart requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. roleplayer 18:12, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Please improve my first article

My first article about YouTube celebrity Michael Mozart might be deleted if you don't help. Please improve this for me and for the rest of the Wikipedia community.

Welcome!

Hello, Thebirdlover/Archives/2019, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Notability

The article was deleted because it didn't show that he was notable enough to have an article. That's not a matter of opinion but needs to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and press releases. More detail in WP:Notability (people).

The point of this is that as an encyclopedia Wikipedia is choosy about what it has articles on. The test is, have other people, independent of the subject, thought it important and interesting enough to write about? There's good advice about article writing in WP:Your first article. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:03, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks JohnCD (talk) you really helped out with advice and I have no intentions of retiring anytime soon.

Wondering How to make a good article

{{helpme}} My first article got deleted and I am wondering how I can make an unique article without getting it deleted. I am also wondering even though I put up on my page for people to edit the page, it was deleted.

Thank You, Am I in trouble?

Abolutely not! I had an edit conflict, heh; we're trying to be too quick! I removed all of your edits, by clicking rollback, and then Fetchcomms removed the remaining errors in the text (which had been put in by a prior anonymous editor).

RfA

I really want to be administrator and I suggest the page should be put back the way I had it. --Thebirdlover (talk) 00:54, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

You can run an RFA if you'd like. However, you'll need to format your request properly. Perhaps take a look at Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship. I can help you with the formatting if you need. However, be aware that with your experience, you will (almost surely) not have a successful RFA. Useight (talk) 01:01, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

It's not going to happen

No offence, but you have zero chance of passing an rfa right now, a potential admin needs several thousand edits and at least 6 months to a years experience, I strongly suggest you forget about being an admin for the time being and focus on editing--Jac16888Talk 00:56, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

I second that; not to discourage you from ever becoming one, but you need to read this page which describes what an administrator really does. It might seem like "no big deal", but it does take time and proof to the community that you understand policies, guidelines, etc.  fetchcomms 01:00, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

(ec)

Well...I think it was harsh to call that an 'unconstructive edit', but I do think that you ought to wait a bit - give it a few months. You only have 61 edits with this account, and you are likely to require over 1000, at a bare minimum. If you apply right now, I'm certain that you would just receive lots of opposition - and that won't help later on, when you really are ready.
There's a reason editors don't want new users as administrators, but it's not because they don't like you or because they think you'd make a bad administrator. It's because it takes time to really learn the rules of Wikipedia, and it takes time to establish a reputation as someone who can keep a cool head under stress.
Once you've been around for 6-12 months and made a few thousand edits, and spent some time in various parts of Wikipedia interacting with other users, then we will know if you can play well with others, show knowledge of policy at places like deletion discussions, and collaborate with others as a team. We'll also know if you've ever been blocked and how your post-block editing shows you aren't stubborn.
So, welcome to Wikipedia. If you keep editing well, participate in conversations in a civil tone, familiarize yourselves with most of the major parts of the project, and familiarize yourself with just what it is administrators really do, then in 6-12 months you will probably have little opposition should you decide that you really want to be an administrator.  Chzz  ►  01:05, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

I have had more than 61 edits through 2 ip adresses I've used before

--Thebirdlover (talk) 17:59, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Thats still not enough, you need several thousand at least. Sorry, just wait a while, get some experience under your belt--Jac16888Talk 20:16, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

This person became an administrator with only writing a 100 articles. Would this pass now?

G-Man Well I've been here since February and I must have written at least 100 articles in that time, I wouldent mind becoming an administrator. G-Man 00:08 18 Jun 2003 (UTC) Yep. G-Man is one of the good guys. Second anyone? --mav Seconded - Hephaestos 07:10 20 Jun 2003 (UTC) Yes jimfbleak

That was 2003, things have changed a lot.  fetchcomms 00:55, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

--Thebirdlover (talk) 17:53, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

I doubt that anyone is reading this now, but when I wrote that; I was confused between creating articles and editing and thought they were exactly the same thing and because of that, 100 edits should get you admin status. I feel so embarrassed when I read my poorly written earlier edits when I tried to add significant amounts of unneeded information but I realize it's part of the learning process. Now, I think I would be the one explaining about this type of stuff. Incidentally, I also currently have over 2,000 edits and two user rights but people will probably still oppose me for some of the frankly eccentric stuff I've done on this wiki. I would explain some of that stuff but I wouldn't want to put ammunition to people. --Thebirdlover (talk) 02:16, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

How do I edit articles when they seem good?

{{helpme}}

There's nothing that I can add on an article because it is good and I am certain if I made an article it will get deleted. By the way, Do people get annoyed when I ask too many questions?

--Thebirdlover (talk) 00:48, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

You can try getting rid of vandalism, and not all articles someone makes are deleted. They just have to pass the guidelines, WP:N. WP:V, WP:NPOV, etc. And maybe some do, but it's best to ask them and learn.  fetchcomms 00:52, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
No articles to work on? Try WP:CLEANUP.
And no, we don't mind questions about Wikipedia at all.  Chzz  ►  00:53, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

Uknown American Presidents Task Force?

Hi Thebirdlover! I am thinking about starting an "Unknown Presidents" task force and I noticed that you are an active member at WP:USPREZ. I was wondering if you would like to join me in starting this task force. The following Presidents would be included:

*Millard Fillmore
*James Monroe
*Zachary Taylor
*Franklin Pierce
*Rutherford B Hayes
*James Garfield
*Chester A Arthur
*James Buchanan

Our Mission: To expand the knowledge of the "Unknown Presidents." Specifically getting all these articles to GA class or higher. Let me know what you think. Thanks!--Schwindtd (talk) 00:40, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Edit Summary

I edited CNN's schedule to put Larry King Live under past programing and wanted to show that with an edit summary but I forgot to and wouldn't let me just put an edit summary in when I tried to.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the edit if you're referring to the CNN article. Are you referring to something else? Shearonink (talk) 15:20, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Found it, is this the edit you're referring to (at Template:CNN)? Shearonink (talk) 15:24, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
That would be the one. If you want to add a summary after the fact, use one of the techniques described in WP:DUMMY. For the record, "DUMMY" refers to the edit, not the editor! Favonian (talk) 15:29, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Also, I think this should work...go in, hit the edit button. Then don't change anything on the Template but on the edit summary line just state something like - 'changed 'Larry King Live' to Former programming' and then 'Save'. Favonian's advice is good too. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Interestingly enough, the article stated just that for years and people edit-warred to keep that 'fact' in there. The now-banned User:Benjiboi, in fact, insisted on re-adding it as did others. So JtV is just really trying to make a point here ... - Alison 02:09, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Editor review

As a fairly new editor I noticed the "Editor review" section of the community pages only yesterday. Looking down the list of editors requesting feedback I could see that some requests had been submitted a long time ago, including yours in February. Before requesting a review myself I thought I would attempt one or two reviews, and you will find I have made some comments under your request.

My guess is that you know a lot more about Wikipedia, how it works and what goes on behind the scenes than I do. I have no experience of the areas of Wikipedia that you have been concentrating on so I could not make much in the way of constructive comments. However, I think that the Encyclopedia is enhanced by your actions. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:00, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Hey Birdlover,

Lovely to meet you. Firstly, thankyou very much for starting my page and showing an interest in little old me. Extermely flattered. Just wanted to change a few things and my mum had actually given it a go a few times and said you had changed it back, so I thought I would have a go. Don't really do that much of this stuff but because Gozo is coming out next year and a new album under a different name, I wanted to edit some of the online info. I was thinking that a little less information is more what I wanted, also to put musician instead of a singer. Wanted to change the photo and a few other things. I don't really know how to prove that I'm Joe? I wrote china white doll about a girl I once loved, Tom and I stopped captive state because we wanted to try something a bit different and he got really really ill. I'm with him now writing the new album. Which I would prefer we kept between us. Ummm, what else. Probably the only written interview I've done online is on the robin hood site and I still keep in contact with Joe and Sam from the cast. That's about all I can come up with. I'm in Oz at the moment and its 1.15 in the morning. Just finished work and I'm knackered. Anyway, hope this is enough. Take care

Your request for rollback

Hi Thebirdlover. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

December 2011

Hi. Thank you for your help with the vital work of patrolling new pages. I noticed that you are not marking some of the pages you've reviewed as patrolled. Please do remember to click the 'mark this page as patrolled' link at the bottom of the new page if you have performed the standard patrolling tasks. Where appropriate, doing so saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page, so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thanks again for volunteering your time at the new pages patrol project. Calabe1992 03:29, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Arrayent

Hi there, I created a page for the company Arrayent. The owner is a friend and I wanted him to have a page on Wikipedia. It got deleted. Could you help me understand why? Thank you for your help. Joebarpa (talk) 23:21, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Godapitiya Central College, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Found out there was another page by the same user about this same thing that is somewhat better. I will try to get the first article deleted under housekeeping so this isn't needed anymore.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Thebirdlover (talk) 05:00, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I removed the information you added to this article because it is unsourced. If you have a source for the date of Hines' death, you can re-add the information, but please do not do so with a citation from a reliable source. Beyond My Ken (talk) 05:56, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

I had already put in a reliable source. It is listed at the bottom where I state when Hines died in a sentence. Thanks for asking --Thebirdlover (talk) 06:22, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
I'm not certain that Behind the Voice Actors is a reliable source, so I've inquired about it at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard. You can see my comment here. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:46, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Sections tag

I don't think it's appropriate to use the {{Sections}} tag on short stubs. That tag is more for long articles that need to be better organized, not for stubs that need to be expanded. Kaldari (talk) 22:56, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

No problem. Nice work otherwise :) Kaldari (talk) 23:00, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I came across this article while clearing the dead end page backlog and I think you might have over done it a bit with the maintenance tags. I can see how most of them were relevant and I altered the article to address those issues. However, {{dead end}} and {{advert}} don't apply and I would question {{POV}}'s relevance. I know you're only trying to help improve the article but sometimes Over-tagging can result in all of them being ignored. I think in cases like this article where there are multiple problems, its best to just tag for the most serious/obvious problems and everything else will get fixed somewhere along the way. Thanks. Proxy Being Unbanned In Less Than 2 Months

I was on the "Tor Network" checking for unbanned proxies when I found User:74.120.15.150 which is due for unblock in August, 2012. Most "Tor" proxies are banned from 2014-2017. I see this was originally a 5 year block until User:ProcseeBot put it down to 2 months and it had only been extended to 6 months since. --Thebirdlover (talk) 09:08, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Reviewer

Can someone please review my request to become a reviewer now? I normally wouldn't ask that and I'd just wait for someone to that on their own time but it's been about four days now and only three requests have been decided since I put my application in. Thank you. :) --Thebirdlover (talk) 07:12, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

Why do you need to be a reviewer if you're "semi-retired"? Beyond My Ken (talk) 07:27, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
If you must know, I posted that at a time when I thought I would be on much less than I actually am. This was a precaution so editors would not be shocked if I wasn't on for a long period of time and as you can see by looking at my contributions; there's been periods where I have not been on Wikipedia for months and did not announce it before I had posted up the notice. (For example, I made no edits from May 9, 2011 to August 2, 2011.) I've removed the semi-retirement template on my user page and when I have more time (possibly Christmas weekend), I'll remove it on my talk page. Thank you. --Thebirdlover (talk) 07:51, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
"Semi-retired" is not the same thing as "I'm not going to be around occasionally". "Semi-retired" means "I'm only going to stop in once in a blue moon and contribute something." I suggest that you remove the "semi-retired" tag from your page if you intend to edit even on a semi-regular basis. Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:02, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
Done. I removed the semi-retirement template here and copied the modified text I already had at my user page, changing the date on it to reflect when I posted it here. --Thebirdlover (talk) 08:07, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

Question for a bird lover

I'm being a bit tough on you in the RfA talk page, so let me take a different approach here. I'm not really knowledgeable about birds, but I was fielding a request from a reader. I posted here. I bet you are both knowledgeable and interested. Looks to me like the photographer mis-identified, but maybe you can help sort it out.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 21:53, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

I'm interested in parrots not birds in general, I'm sorry if that seemed confusing and I can definetely understand. Anyway, you're not making me mad at what you're doing. If you are around, thank you for helping me. I could use some help again. I told a user that they might offend someone making rape part of their name asking them to change it. Instead it looks like they made the same name with a number 2. I saw where you showed that this is also not alowed, so maybe you can tell this guy. The first one is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Master_rape_01 and I'm pretty sure they made this one http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Master_Rape_2&action=edit&redlink=1 too. Necromuncher SPI

Hi. Regarding your recent SPI request, merely using multiple accounts is not necessarily sockpuppetry. Please carefully read (or re-read) WP:SOCK and give us at least one example where you believe Necromuncher is doing something improper in connection with these accounts. If no additional information along these lines is forthcoming soon, your SPI request is likely to be closed without any action being taken. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 20:08, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Request reason:

It was a stupid April Fools joke that got way out of control. I didn't know how serious it was and I was actually planning to log out of that account and forget about it when the account was blocked. It did not involve any user rights and had no effect on any main space articles and I feel that should be accounted for. I apologize to anyone who may have gotten offended by this. I also apologize for not disclosing this after the joke accounts were blocked. I didn't do that because I didn't want a block to be listed on this account. Since it now is listed on my username, I feel I should own up. I have never used anything else that could be considered sockpuppetry except one doppleganger; User:Tehbirdlover and it's association with me is clearly listed on it's user page which makes it legitimate.

Accept reason:

I have accepted your request and unblocked your account. Please note that even pranks like that are considered very serious. So serious in fact that those accounts have been globally locked. Anyways, please take more care in the future. Elockid (Talk) 19:33, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Question about marker you left

Dear birdlover, I'm hoping that you can help me understand what kinds of changes you think the description of Nancy Cantor needs to meet wikipedia's standards. I composed most of the existing entry from existing sources. To my eye, any subjective claims are backed up with appropriate sources. A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bob the Dinosaur, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

I have decided to be bold like the AFD header says and plain out redirect it. I didn't know that you were supposed to just redirect the page if you don't want it deleted.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Thebirdlover (talk) 02:48, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Question on Reviewers

When I'm in the reviewer panel, I see the quoted portion below and then a button you can click. I'm confused. Is this taking ownership of the article? That would be forbidden under policy.

"You can advertise yourself as reviewing these changes to other users."

I think that's meant to prevent doing the same work twice. Certainly someone else could also review the article, but it seems more useful to review more articles than to have the same article reviewed multiple times, especially in times of backlog. Huon (talk) 06:36, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Comcast

Thebirdlover, certainly respect your thought and can see that pereception. Comcast is rated as one of the worst customer service departments in their industry, it's not a personal grievance but actually a fact.

Hello, I'm Thebirdlover. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Comcast seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Please do not add in grievances that you may have with their customer service team. Thebirdlover (talk) 21:31, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

{{Admin help}}

I was wondering if there would be any way that I could be allowed to read the list of banned users that was deleted in October, preferably with the history revisions intact rather than it just being the last revision. I have no real reason to, admittedly, but I appreciate the history of Wikipedia and I find the psychology of the users that end up banned to be very interesting, especially when they display a lot of obstinate behavior. Before it was deleted, I was reading the talk pages of every editor that was listed on the banned list (I also redirected talk pages to user pages of long banned editors who hadn't edited in years, as per custom) as a way to pass the time and I only got up to 2008 at the time before I had taken a hiatus from the site. I know that there's a very minimal chance that this request will be approved, but I didn't think it would hurt to ask and it would be really appreciated if there could be a way that I would be able to do that. --Thebirdlover (talk) 16:58, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Viewing the deletion discussion, I think that providing a copy would go against the consensus. Also if one provided a copy only the last version could easily be done. As was stated in the discussion, we also have Category:Banned Wikipedia users - which by nature of it's construction is always up to date and thus does not further penalise any editor who get unbanned. Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:58, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. I'll check out the category page, although I am a little disappointed because it is very, very, tedious to read it chronologically like I generally prefer. However, I do understand how the List of banned users page might unfairly penalize users by being incredibly public and providing descriptions of what the users did. --Thebirdlover (talk) 21:58, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
