Browsing Wikipedia collection

[edit]

One method of browsing Wikipedia I'm surprised you haven't designed a Userbox for - directly typing in a URL...
Not a very efficient method, I know, but I've occasionally done it...and sometimes been succesful (other times I wished I'd used the search facility instead). Mittfh 23:13, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks great! I have made some quick CSS fixes. TODO:

  • For usability reasons all widths should be as relatives (%, em, pt) but this does not need to be done for ages.
  • I'm not at a MS computer so I can't see how my changes look in IE.

Userbox site

[edit]

It is too complex for the average personJava7837 16:37, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wait so did your edit stop Usbk from putting Wikipedia pages in Wikipedian categories? If so THANK YOU if not your last edit still made it pretty good. We needed that template fixed because we are about to implement it onto Babel, now we can put it on Babel without Babel being in every User xx category... ever. -Sox207 01:07, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it seems that where I was looking, Health userboxes, the categories were actually deleted, I'll have to look up in the deletion log if they were done in a mass amount. Do you have any idea on how to make it so that in a usbk line:
|{{usbk|User userbox|categories=no}}

Where categories is the Wikipedian categories in the includeonly tags?

Also do you have an account on Facebook, and if so do you know anything about creating applications? After seeing your excellent tool (best I have ever seen) I would love to see a userbox application on there like that, put them on the main facebook page at the top somehow. -Sox207 01:47, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, a Facebook app. like that would be godly, and you could get it on Facebook by whatever means you think best, maybe make it so that it displays above or below "Information" on the Profile page, lol nevermind I just figured out how to move around apps, lol.

I should have been more specific, what this template needs is a parser function incorporated like this:

{{#ifeq:{{{categories}}}|no||[[Category:Example|{{PAGENAME}}]]}}

to read on more about what we need this template to do go to Category:Category suppression supporting templates and click the link to Willscirt's subpage. -Sox207 17:39, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well say that this parser function is incorporated into the individual userboxes instead of the template, is there anyway to just put |categories=no where the actual userbox displays, like how there is the link on the left and it displays on the right? I tried figuring out where the display is but it goes beyond me. -Sox207 22:15, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alright for this template I will just look towards the future, hope that a solution occurs at some point.
As for FaceBook to begin developing, from what I have gathered you should start here: [1]. I already downloaded the application to make applications, so if we are talking about that I might know what you are talking about, in other computer programming I am not as good. -Sox207 02:38, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

YES YES YES! WOOT! I am the admin of a web forums site and I am testing the beta edition where you can make your own BBCode. I programmed it to make userboxes and it worked! Friggin awesome. -Sox207 04:55, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help for template

[edit]

Hello, I've seen your name on the project template and I permis myself to ask you help: I've just created a new portal Portal:Lyon and I would like to create the templates for the subways, trams, bus. They already exist on the french wikipedia of Lyon metro for example. would you accept to help me ? Thank you Lulu97417 (talk) 16:39, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What you did on this page was a very good idea. I'm going to check through and see if there are any obvious errors, but, in principle, no problem at all. We have many other country pages that really need to have standard infoboxes, so I hope you'll return and convert some more! Andrew Dalby 09:01, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Brief comments:
  1. There was no need to insert this: {{Videdis|Britannia (discretiva)}}
  2. There may be errors when you insert values for "nomen_gent" and "adiectivum". It's probably best not to worry: let one of us deal with that.
  3. I have made a couple of very minor changes which you'll see if you check the diff. Andrew Dalby 09:15, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

University of Western Ontario Requested Move

[edit]

Per my comment on the Requested Move, I think you should close the current one and submit another Requested Move to "Western University (Ontario)". Also, a better justification would for the move would be WP:COMMONNAME, given that the University has now embraced it's common name. Cheers. Vietminh (talk) 01:31, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Sinicization of Tibet, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Red Guards (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Kofi's victory is kinda eery isn't it? Ranze (talk) 03:04, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it is relevant because an investigation is still ongoing. We don't know who did the bombings, or what their motives were. It is a bit of an odd that a Bostonian whose themes revolve around explosions and people in distress won a championship in Boston mere days before people were put in distress by explosions. It is possible that the ones who attacked the marathon runners were enthusiastic wrestling fans who went overboard in celebrating Kofi's third US title victory. This information may be of help to the FBI and I worry by removing it we may be hampering their investigation. Ranze (talk) 05:05, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
