Neil Reidman Article

Hello Rolling Camel. Could you take a look at the Neil Reidman article once more. You placed a Cleanup tag on the article. I've worked on it and think we should remove the tag. Please let me know what you think. Thanks. Doctorfun (talk) 06:43, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Poschiavo settlements

Hi. I'd appreciate it if you would create these articles only if you supply them with a WP:reliable source to make them verifiable. They'll be deleted otherwise. Thanks,  Sandstein  21:04, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Teknikmagasinet AB

A tag has been placed on Teknikmagasinet AB requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TNX-Man 17:08, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Just to let you know I have removed the G3 tag you placed on this article. Whilst it seems unlikely an article on the topic will be possible I do not think it can be classified as pure vandalism. Regards, Guest9999 (talk) 20:50, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Via da Mez

A tag has been placed on Via da Mez requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Userspace

Hey, just a tip to avoid the speedys as soon as you create an article: you can make a page in you userspace where you can work on it in peace until it's ready to be posted. See here how to do it :) --aktsu (t / c) 21:14, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes, i know that. But Thank you anyway. The Rolling Camel (talk) 21:15, 1 January 2009 (UTC) Its not so bad either. When my articles gets deleted its beacause of a reason, administrators do not delete articles beacuse its fun. So a non-notable or bad article gets deleted and a good article is not and the speedy gets declined. The Rolling Camel (talk) 21:20, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Alright, just though I'd mention it in case you didn't know. It's better to make the article as complete as possible before posting, as to avoid having to deal with a CSD A7 speedy like you had to do at Joachim Winterlich. Cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 21:26, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Joachim Winterlich

Thanks for leaving the message on my talk page. The Joachim Winterlich is better now and satisfies notability. A few more improvements have been made.

For future articles, you might want to try what the comment immediately above suggests. This article was tagged for speedy-delete mainly because it was incomplete, with no references. Articles that are more complete, with verifiable source references when they are added to mainspace typically do not get tagged for deletion. More preparation usually helps. Thanks. Re: Joachim Winterlich

Of those two, I'm thinking the Weissflog-one is the most exiting - if he really is the most successful German ski jumper off all time, and that Winterlich actually substantially contributed to his success. The "coaching Bulgaria" one is certainly one that could be used, though it's maybe not as exiting. Reading the article right now, the thing that interest me the most is the ceramic inrun thing he invented, maybe that's something that could be used too? You're still around 800 characters of prose away from DYK so maybe something else turns up as well. I'll keep an eye on the article for sure. Good luck, and just let me know if you need any help :) --aktsu (t / c) 01:11, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Zografski copyedit

For sure, and happy new year to you too! On Vladîmir Zografski some of the info didn't match that on his FIS-Ski page, so I changed it to those. Otherwise it was smooth sailing. --aktsu (t / c) 02:21, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

If you say so, the page was a little confusing. Seems like a fansite too, so it probably doesn't meet WP:RS. --aktsu (t / c) 11:51, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Joachim Winterlich

Hello! Your submission of Joachim Winterlich at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! » \ / ( ) 16:45, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

The article is only 1375 characters and needs to be at least 2000 for DYK. Unless we can find a lot of interesting information about him with verifiable sources, I'm afraid it won't make DYK. I'll try to find something to help out and add to the article ... no promises though. Thanks. Truthanado (talk) 00:53, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
What Truthanado said is correct. DYK nominations must be at least 2000 characters (letters) in length. Also, DYK nominations generally aren't allowed to be marked as 'stubs' which yours is, at the bottom of the page. » \ / ( | ) 22:10, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Possible area of interest

Hi. I noticed your comments about being Swedish, and I just wanted to make you aware of the Swedish Wikipedia]. It is the same as English Wikipedia, only written in Swedish. While it is great to have you editing here, I just wanted to mention it to you. » \ / ( | ) 06:17, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Don't forget to copy along the references. This is especially important if you don't have the time to look for sources in English. - Mgm|(talk) 12:57, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

A to the K

Hi. I expanded the article on your request. I guess you wish to enter a DYK nomination for the article? Some general tips for editing:

  • Refer to the subject by last name
  • Not bare urls (like: <ref>[http://www.example.com link title]</ref>
  • Use <ref name> when one reference is used multiple times
  • Grammar ("beginned with nordic combined", "haved big difficulties to hang on in the cross-country skiing")
  • Punkmorten (talk) 20:55, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Thank You, It will be seen on DYK January 4 in a few minutes. The Rolling Camel (talk) 20:59, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Teknikmagasinet AB

I have nominated Teknikmagasinet AB, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Teknikmagasinet AB. An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

The article you created, Teknikmagasinet AB maybe deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. There are several tools and other editors who can help you keep the page from being deleted forever:

  1. List the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
  2. You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
  3. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list of your own acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept. Acronyms in deletion debates are sometimes incorrectly used, or ignore rules or exceptions.
  4. You can vote to merge the article into a larger or better established article on the same topic.

Finding sources which mention the topic of your article are the very best way to keep an article.

Find sources for Teknikmagasinet AB: google books, google news recent, google news old, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. Good luck! travb (talk) 22:31, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Its NOT going to get deleted. The Rolling Camel (talk) 07:08, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Non-admin closure

Please be careful of your foramtting when doing a non-admin closure in AFD. Your closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Greg renkas left off the {{afd-bottom}} tag, and misplaced teh {{afd-top}} tag as well as not removing the categorization template {{REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD}}. Also, the templates being added needs substitution. If you are not famailiar with closing a deletion discussion, you should review WP:DELPRO for the details. I've fixed it up but these are things to keep in mind for next time. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 21:24, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Notability of Meininger

A tag has been placed on Meininger requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Finngall talk 23:24, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Ski jumping

Many thanks for your answer on how the distance is measured. I now know it is the middle of the feet or halfway between them, which had been puzzling me. I still find it difficult to understand how the judges can see this accurately. When the jumpers are moving so fast, the exact point of landing must be very difficult to see. Is there some magic eye similar to that used in tennis to see if shots are in or out? Patche99z (talk) 18:43, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Sokolenko

Well, I didn't really fancy that article subject. The person has not competed in the World Cup, and hasn't even finished among the top 30 in the Continental Cup.. Punkmorten (talk) 10:11, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

DYK nominations

When you open the edit screen on the nomination page, it lists several possible templates you can use to nominate entries. Could you try using them? It saves a lot of time. - Mgm|(talk) 13:29, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Did you wikify your username or the article title by any chance? Everything except the linked words in the hook can be dropped in without any formatting at all. If you drop in the words, the template will link it. Of course, if you link it too, the template will break. - Mgm|(talk) 10:26, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Speedy nomination of Zavena, Switzerland

Hi Rolling Camel! Please be careful about nominating article for speedy deletion, as you did to Zavena, Switzerland. A one-line article about a town is perfectly valid as a sub-stub, but if you still believe that it satisfies the criteria for speedy deletion, make sure to add the tag on top of the article, without also blanking the page. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 18:31, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

In that case the proper procedure is either to turn the page into a redirect (does not require admin intervention), use {{db-author}} (in case you are the only person who edited the article, because of WP:OWN), or use {{db-g6}} with a reason explaining the action. Simply blanking the page and asking to delete it because it's blank, even though editors other than you have edited the article, appears as a bad faith nomination. Please understand that administrators doing speedy deletion reviews do check page histories, etc. but still try to do the reviews quickly, because there are usually several new speedy noms per minute, and it's not always practical to do a thorough ANI-like review. I hope that you do not take this as an affront or insult to you. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 22:19, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
