anti-americanism

[edit]

Please refrain from deleting informative sections of articles before discussing, cite your reasons and perhaps your edit may not be reverted --Frogsprog 20:31, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well no other editor has had a problem with the discrimination section, which I wrote myself to work alongside the other which i found fairly POV, and I have also seen very little opposition to in canada which I did not write, the only opposition really has been to a picture caption which may have been slightly POV. I am slightly suspicious that you may be an American and are attempting to remove any material that portrays the US in a bad light!--Frogsprog 20:45, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gustave Moynier (again)

[edit]

Just as a side note, the German article about Moynier has reached FA status, so its English counterpart could benefit from a revamping :o). The German article is more than double in length and number of references by now, and it mentions some aspects of his life which are currently not to be found in the English version. Even if you don't have the time and energy for a translation, the extensions might be interesting for you to read. Best Regards, --Uwe 08:52, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed you on a list of New Yorkers. If you are interested in around we are having a meetup Wikipedians in June. Take a peek at this and please tell any other Wikipedians that you think might be interested in participating about this event. Thanks. Alex756 02:25, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Honorary Citizens of Vienna

[edit]

The List of Honorary Citizens of Vienna (that I believe you created?) starts off with a 'Francis Rawdon' in 1797. I expect that the correct article for this person to link to should probably be Francis Rawdon-Hastings, 1st Marquess of Hastings, rather than the current link, which has become redundant. As you will see from the article, this Francis Rawdon held a number of titles including Lord Rawdon, Earl Moira, and latterly 1st Marquess of Hastings!

Do you have access to a source that will enable you to confirm the correct identity of this person? Thank you. Downhamhill 13:06, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I just made it into a redirect. The German Wikipedia, from where I translated the article, has it link to Rawdon-Hastings. Of course, there is a possibility that could be incorrect. Tfine80 13:46, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Self Harm page

[edit]

Hi there, I'm getting in touch as you've done some recent work on the self-harm article. I've done a fair bit of study on this subject recently, so reckon I'm in a position to go through and get a good load of citations in there. What I propose, is moving to using the tag to make this easier, and then I'll go through and get citations in, and replace some of the "some people" type areas with referenced viewpoints, trying to get multiple view is where there are opposing views. Obviously this'll involve a bit of rewriting and adding so I wondered if you have any feedback on this before I start. Acidsaturation 07:42, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks ...

... and I'd be happy to meet you in Vienna. Unfortunately, I won't be here July 1 to July 8. Hope we can meet afterwards! All the best, <KF> 22:42, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dershowitz and Simpson

[edit]

According to the O. J. Simpson murder case article, Alan Dershowitz was one of Simpson's lawyers. In that case, shouldn't Dershowitz also appear on Template:O.J. Simpson murder trial? —Lowellian (reply) 02:38, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The template looks fine. Good job! —Lowellian (reply) 19:11, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A big problem was having that template add the category, then not taking the time to see that it was done right. I've just spent considerable time fixing the indexing sort keys of all but one of the articles using this template. Gene Nygaard 00:51, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

removal of information

[edit]

Hello! The Cuba article is very hot at the moment. It would be best if you would first discuss any major edits on the talk page. Thanks, Myciconia 02:06, 6 May 2006 (UTC) [reply]

This was a minor, non-controversial edit. It is completely ridiculous to say that Cuba has done more than the rest of the world in helping Chernobyl victims. With no citation and a triumphal tone. I'm not surprised the article is controversial and receiving media attention. Huge sections are a joke. Tfine80 03:22, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help wanted

[edit]

Do you still watch Anti-Americanism? Do you still care about the pernicious things that get said about America?

I want to remove it from my watchlist because of the headache but I'm dead-set to not remove because it will be hijacked immediately by editors who pop-up everyday and want to rant about GWB. I'm not asking for a look at every detail on the Talk, but a check-up when you're on this Wiki, maybe?... I don't mind disagreeing with you because it's fruitful; I'm just getting tired of disagreeing with people who seem to edit idiotically. Sorry to bother (again), Marskell 22:41, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I hang about here too much and I know other people have limited time. I'm really glad you still have an interest in the article. It's "top-google", it's an obvious search topic, and it should be good. Marskell 23:15, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and: User:Marskell/AA. Potential new intro. I know basically every word is cited, but that's what you need to do when you wind up in edit wars with newbies... Marskell 23:17, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have endorsed and will make a fuller comment there (perhaps I'll wait and see if she reverts me again). It may be too soon for an RfC, but this editor is a clear POV-pusher. I believe she's in violation of 3RR (it's like five in 28 hours, plus one extra revert to your removing points on the list). I would suggest not adding the dispute tag. In an odd way this endorses her version as the one being argued over--it's the long standing version that belongs. Thus, if she reverts, revert her. I know reverts aren't an entitlement but I don't want to let her awful intro a foot in the door.
And do you like my new longer intro BTW? Marskell 10:06, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation request

[edit]

A request for mediation has been filed with the Mediation Committee that lists you as a party. The Mediation Committee requires that all parties listed in a mediation must be notified of the mediation. Please review the request at Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Anti-Americanism, and indicate whether you agree or refuse to mediate. If you are unfamiliar with mediation, please refer to Wikipedia:Mediation. There are only seven days for everyone to agree, so please check as soon as possible..

The request will be posted shortly. Note you just have to go there and agree to the mediation. Talk is getting us nowhere. Marskell 17:22, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Red Cross Article

[edit]

Hi there, I kindly ask you to check today's changes to the article about the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement‎ made by User:Francis Schonken, and the respective discussion on the talk page of the article. I provided a number of reasons why I reverted this changes, and I sincerely believe the reasons to be valid and his reasoning to be based on a lack of insight into the complicated historical and legal grounds regarding the emblem issue. As I don't want to run into an edit war, I would be happy to get additional opinions from other users. --Uwe 15:37, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you agree that it's time to move this article? It's been 10 days since the survey began, the vote is +65% in favour of a move and the discussion seems to be spinning its wheels. Also, the article was originally moved to "İlham Əliyev" with no discussion whatsoever, so the current title seems illegitimate. Any thoughts? Pinkville 23:42, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

ICRC move

Hello again Tfine80, at long last I'm satisfied with my work on a new International Committee of the Red Cross article. It's still far from perfect, but it's a start. That article is at User:Draeco/ICRC, and I've proposed a move here. Hey Tfine. I just did a bit of flamethrowing on Anti-Americanism and noticed you'd been working today as well. Do you know if in-line citations can be provided for the quotes from Heidegger etc. in Anti-technology and Romantic hostility? Slowly, slowly in-line cites have been appearing in the article and this is one spot where they're needed, as direct quotes are used. Marskell 18:34, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Document from Red Cross history

[edit]

Howdy, (again) long time no see :). How has life been for you? Did you find some time to read the Junod book which I sent you? My question this time is whether you see any chance to find the full text of the following document: "Report of Charles S.P. Bowles, foreign agent of the United States Sanitary Commission, upon the International Congress of Geneva: For the amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the field, convened at Geneva, 8th August, 1864". I'm currently reading a German book about Dunant, and the author (Martin Gumpert) provides some interesting excerpts from that report. It seems that reading the full report could provide some very interesting background information about the difficulties of the 1864 congress, and how the delegates finally managed to agree on the first Geneva Convention. And Charles Bowles seems to have played a very important role for the success of the conference. So all in all, his report seems to be a very interesting document, from a historical point of view. Any chances for you to find it in some public government archives, or some library via interlending? --Uwe 19:34, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, hope you had a nice Christmas and a good start into the new year. If you have a couple of minutes, could you take a look at my newest contribution to the English Wikipedia - Protective sign - to correct any language glitches? Also, I'm not sure whether "Protective sign" is the most used English term for the German word "Schutzzeichen", so if you know a better lemma don't hesitate to move the article to a new lemma. And last but not least, you probably know better what terms should be used to create appropriate redirects. Best Regards, --Uwe 13:42, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy, if you have some time and need some work, it might be a good idea to translate the above list which I've recently created. It would be a good surrogate for separate articles which the English Wikipedia lacks at present for most of the former ICRC presidents. --Uwe 18:23, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know if I can be of any help. My issue with translating this list for myself is that translation is much faster and gives better results when translating into the own native language. So translations from German to English are more efficient if you translate and I proofread the result. --Uwe 18:38, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gifted tongues.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. Proposed deletion of Gerald Freihofner

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gerald Freihofner, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Nothing to indicate more notable than an average journalist

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, listed at Talk:Swedish literature/GA1. I will check back in seven days. If these issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far. While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Wikipedia's tagline

Hi. I noticed that you participated in a 2005/2006 discussion and straw poll on whether or not the tagline at the top of all Wikipedia articles should be changed from "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" to "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit". I don't know if you're still interested in this issue or not, but this exact change has been proposed once again, this time at the Village pump, and there is currently an RFC (Request for Comment) on the subject where it is being discussed. [edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:04, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tfine80. You have new messages at Bubba73's talk page.

Hi, I could find precious little about the subject to expand my article-creation, but I did notice the German counterpart was well-developed (no surprise). Many years ago ich hab funf yahr in der schule auf Deutsch gelernen, aber mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht as you can see, and Babel didn't help much either! So any attention you might be willing & able to give in future toward expansion from the German would certainly be appreciated! Sincere, Ihardlythinkso (talk) 00:46, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I just realized that you are not on the invite list for Wikipedians I was using, so I just wanted to make sure you saw this. Hope you can make it! Dominic·t 22:32, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to the National Archives ExtravaSCANza, taking place every day next week from January 4–7, Wednesday to Saturday, in College Park, Maryland (Washington, DC metro area). Come help me cap off my stint as Wikipedian in Residence at the National Archives with one last success!

This will be a casual working event in which Wikipedians are getting together to scan interesting documents at the National Archives related to a different theme each day—currently: spaceflight, women's suffrage, Chile, and battleships—for use on Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons. The event is being held on multiple days, and in the evenings and weekend, so that as many locals and out-of-towners from nearby regions as possible can come. Please join us! Coordinator sought for the US National Archives WikiProject

[edit]

Greetings, WikiProject US National Archives member!

We are seeking a coordinator to help reboot the project and work on new initiatives! The role is modeled after other Wikiproject coordinators, like the WikiProject Military History coordinators. The coordinator will work with the Wikipedian in Residence to organize and increase participation in the WikiProject, with the goal that the WikiProject is an active space for collaboration maintained by and for the Wikipedia editors, rather than the National Archives.

Please see the full information at Wikipedia:GLAM/NARA/Coordinator and contact me is you have any questions. Feel free to pass this note along to any interested parties. Thanks! Dominic·t 21:07, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Whispersonthecolor.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Whispersonthecolor.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:14, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Downtown Community House

[edit]

Hi. In creating Downtown Community House, your edit summary said, "Adapted from Report by Kate Reggev, Entered into CC-BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL by Save Washington Street," which I took at face value. Another editor has noticed and tagged the potential copyright violation. I think you need to get an email sent to permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org to clear this up. Please read WP:PERMISSIONS very carefully and follow those instructions as closely as you can (it is very easy to get wrong.) Thanks. —Cupco 02:16, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was the tagging editor. I've since removed the tag but it would be best to follow the regular process for free licensing material. Sorry about this. And since it is your text the correct page would I believe be Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials, rather than WP:PERMISSIONS? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 02:29, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I commissioned the report and can release it. Tfine80 (talk) 02:50, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Even if that's so, the article should still bear some form of license statement should it not? And secondly, my limited understanding of copyright law is that the author still retains some rights, and her agreement to release may be needed. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 12:02, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I will try to get some kind of release to post. Tfine80 (talk) 15:47, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Nomination of Pension Volkmann for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Pension Volkmann is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pension Volkmann until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:39, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of CERT-EE

[edit]

The article CERT-EE has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
