Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Tfburns. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Psychoacoustics, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 17:02, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Tfburns! I wanted to clarify something. After you found my interventions hostile on the Psychoacoustics Talk page and asked for "third-party arbitration," I tried to do just that. So, I posted a message asking for help on the Teahouse page. I pondered whether I should include your username there, which would mean that you would be notified. But, on the other hand, guidelines also suggest not to do finger-pointing or outing, so in the end I thought it would be better not to mention you directly there. In hindsight, I am wondering if maybe that contributed to a feeling that I was going behind your back, making you think that Theroadislong and I were "in cahoot"? I have no relation to Theroadislong, and seeing that they intervened on the Teahouse page for other matters around the same time, I think they simply saw my call for help and acted in response to it. On the Teahouse page, I was advised to request help from the COI Noticeboard, but I was hesitant to do so because I mostly wanted advice about how to communicate with you in a way that would not come across as hostile. In the end, Theroadislong acted before I went any further, and, meanwhile, I found WP:BITE, which is a very helpful resource. Now I see that I haven't acted entirely up to these guidelines and I apologise for that. I hope that brings some clarity. – egaudrain (talk) 17:46, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
Bald and Bankrupt
[edit]I'm removing your discussion on the TALK page because it's WP:OR and promotes other websites. If you have question about inclusion of content feel free to add, but Wikipedia isn't an online forum. If you wish to add content to the article it needs to be WP:RS about the person and topic of the article which is the Bald and Bankrupt YouTube Channel. Thanks!
