Favor to Ask

Hi Trevor. My name is Laura, and I am in the Global Youth Studies Course. I missed the September 4th class. I was curious, may I get some class notes from you this upcoming Wednesday,September 11th? Could I meet you in the classroom before class? I plan on being there by five. Please let me know either way. Thank you!Lhegtvedt (talk) 18:51, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello!

Hi, Trevor. Thanks for taking the time to virtually introduce yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing your impacts on Wikipedia this semester!DrakeLibrarian (talk) 19:31, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

Great start!

Hi, Tapbh! You have a strong sense of how to write for WP. Your user page and article edit are both solid. Please do a bit more research on how to cite books in WP. Could you fix your fact in the Generation gap article to have a correctly formated book reference? P.S. I struggle with this, too! Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 04:35, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

Feedback

Hi Trevor! I can kinda connect to your interest in the topic you have chosen about the youth and the criminal justice. I also want to do something with troubled youths. Sounds like you have some background in criminal justice from your previous school, so that will be nice to know some knowledge about the system already. I also like how you chose to look outside in different countries. I look forward to reading your articles. Good luck! Ekarajic (talk) 05:22, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Feedback!

You're topic of Youth & Criminal justice seems like an interesting topic to research, especially in different countries. I look forward to seeing which article you choose to edit. Good luck! Darexo (talk) 19:35, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Darexo, what suggestions would you have for Tapbh on how to pursue his topic? Where do you think he should begin? Thanks for providing positive encouragement to your fellow students! Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 02:05, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Feedback

Hi Trevor! It sounds like your topic will be very interesting to research! It looks like you have lots of options for creating an article, and good choice on deciding to work with a country outside of the Global North if you choose to look at a single country. Good luck finding the information you'll need!

Suggestions

Tapbh,

Great ideas! As far as choosing the country you'd like to create an article about, my suggestion would be to look around on the school's databases to see what kind of information you have access to. That definitely complicated my original plan last year, that is, not being able to find what I was looking for. Another word of caution: I was looking around for a template of what you might want to shape your article to look like and I could not find any about youth and criminal justice. It might be worth looking into adding a juvenile justice section into a country's page instead. Either way, I think you've got a great handle on where you want to go right now. Keep up the good work!

Topic feedback

Hi Tapbh. I'm glad you've settled on Youth in the Czech Republic. They've come a long way since the Velvet Revolution. It looks as if you've found some good sources and know where to look for more. Here's a few more you can use if you'd like: Czech 16-year-olds have greatest experience with drugs in Europe, Youth unemployment in the Czech Republic, Two centuries of growth among Czech children and youth. Drop me a note on my talk page if you need any help. Gobōnobō + c 20:04, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi, User:Gobonobo! Thanks!
Tapbh, I agree with the feedback. As I mentioned in class, I encourage you and User:Lhegtvedt to coordinate regarding the sections of the article so we can work towards a standard format. An agreement on these areas would also help guide your searches. You're on the right track! I also made a to-do list of reminders from this week's class conversation. You may check to see you’ve checked them off by looking at my September 26 post on our course talk page.

Cheers! Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 20:13, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Some falafel for you!

Good job archiving!!! Prof.Vandegrift (talk) 20:14, 26 September 2013 (UTC)

Topic Feedback

Looking good!

A few suggestions about sources as you move forward though. An important part of what deems an article on Wikipedia 'good' is having a variety of reputable sources. The article you found has a lot of great information, but its from 2003 so you might want to look for some more, too. As I'm sure you've discussed, I'd recommend titling the article 'Youth in the Czech Republic' . With a new article, be sure to link it to others before it goes live, otherwise its an orphan. Start thinking about where you can link it. Once you figure that out, there might even be resources on the linked pages you can use for your page.AbbeyMaynard (talk) 19:15, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Draft Feedback

Tapbh,

Impressive start! I don't have a lot of feedback for you because what you have looks great. It is a bit concerning that you don't have more, so if I were you I'd spend a lot of time looking for more information. Two other minor suggestions: you don't need to hyperlink Czech Republic every time you use it, just once will do; don't use quotes around words like youth and adolescents. Awesome job besides that. I'm looking forward to the completed version.AbbeyMaynard (talk) 02:01, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback! I wasn't sure about how often to hyperlink so I went crazy with them. I fixed that and the quotes though. I plan on getting more information added the next couple days.Tapbh (talk) 14:30, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Meet Before Class

Hi Trevor. I wanted to possibly meet up with you before class on Wednesday to discuss sections for our "Youth in Denmark" and "Youth in Czech Republic" articles. It was suggested to coordinate sections to build a standard format. Would 5 PM work at Cowles? Thank you.Lhegtvedt (talk) 17:57, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

Hey Laura, yeah, I will come in a bit early so we can talk about that. I've been thinking a little bit about it but we can discuss it Wednesday.Tapbh (talk) 14:30, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
