If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dyal Singh College, Karnal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

However, even without the copyright violation issue, the tone of the article as written is too promotional for a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia articles are required to maintain a neutral point of view, which is not usually the case with corporate websites or other promotional material. Also keep in mind that article subjects must be notable, as evidenced by coverage in reliable sources. Thanks. Writ Keeper 13:42, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Dayal Singh College, Karnal has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unsourced and notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Dyal Singh College, Karnal. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Dayal Singh College, Karnal. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Dayal Singh College, Karnal - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. DietFoodstamp (talk) 07:35, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Tahir. Nice work on the Urdu page. I have great trouble with Urdu, so have not tried to make any changes there, but I thought I should let you know that in the English language article I have corrected some mistakes and added some further dates, names, and pictures. For instance, I have moved Kalat down to last in the batting order and have put Phulra after Amb. The new names added include that of the last Khan of Phulra, Ata Muhammed Khan, who was remarkably elusive. You might like to check over the present version of the English language page. (I notice, by the way, that you have left Junagadh and Bantva Manavadar out of your page. It is certainly arguable that they did lawfully accede, but perhaps they are not essential. The 52 years in exile of Manavadar Ghulam Moinuddin, once ruler of Bantva Manavadar, strikes me as a poignant anti-climax in our imperial history.) Module:Convert

[edit]

I notice you copied the convert template and module to urwiki. Do you want to customize them? It takes quite a lot of work to do everything (messages, units, options), but most of it can be left until a later time when problems are encountered. However, the basics mentioned at en:Template:Convert/Transwiki guide/translate such as number format should be set up correctly. Please let me know if anyone wants to do the translations and I can explain the procedures. I normally do that at the wiki concerned, but I can't handle RTL, so I guess it would have to be a page here somewhere. I set up User:Johnuniq/translate for fawiki, but they did everything the wrong way, before I noticed. I will see any reply here, but if you want to proceed I will set up a dedicated page because it's useful for me to able to find everything in the one place later, if needed. Johnuniq (talk) 07:48, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I like to translate only the "Units" that appear on the page. Your help will be highly appreciated. --Tahir Mahmood (talk) 08:13, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but more than units will be required. There is the name of the category that should be used when errors occur, the text for SI prefixes like kilo and mega, and numbers (should enwiki digits be used or something else?), and probably a bit more. I won't look at this for a day or two. Meanwhile you might think about where to put the master list of units at urwiki—here it is Module:Convert/documentation/conversion data/doc. After the trouble I had at fawiki, I recommend a simple name using latin1 characters—later, if wanted, you could try moving it to some wanted title. It cannot be a module page because they expect a script; it could be a doc subpage and the name used at enwiki might work, although any page such as a user subpage could be used. Note that the master list of units does not need to be entirely translated—only the units that are used (the master list has hundreds of names that are not used at enwiki). Johnuniq (talk) 09:18, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
OK I am already working on it. --Tahir Mahmood (talk) 11:47, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There's no need to make links to units using English names unless you want them. The names of the link used for each unit can easily be changed, and many units will probably never be used (like dunam). I'll wait for a response to what I've mentioned so far. Johnuniq (talk) 02:02, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You are right, but actually many of the units are not being translated to Urdu. I am just translating them. --Tahir Mahmood (talk) 05:06, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Flag icons, nor any icons, are not allowed in infoboxes, so please stop inserting them. -- Unbuttered parsnip (talk) mytime= Tue 17:14, wikitime= 09:14, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

as above wiki policy WP:INFOBOXFLAG discourages the use of flags in infoboxes. The name of the country is a sufficient identifier so you do not need to place a flag in every infobox about a town, City or settlement. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bioko Norte Province, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rebola. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
