New Vice Coordinator of WikiProject Bangladesh Premier League

Dear Wikiproject Bangladesh Premier League member, the purpose of this message is to let you know that The post of the vice coordinator of WikiProject Bangladesh Premier League is fulfilled. Strike Eagle is the new vice coordinator of the project. To see more details please visit projects talk page. Thanks. --Pratyya (Hello!) 13:33, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Help with an article on wikipedia!

There is a user who keeps saying that the article Tissanayagam family needs rework and keep deleting content and pictures etc - can you please let me know either how i can fix same or delete the article. Thanks -(Jehanbastians (talk) 08:46, 26 November 2014 (UTC))

Probably since the article had edits like these[1] [2](Heavy quotation of one sided WP:PRIMARY) and changes of results based on WP:FAKE references like [3], or "Biggest Tank Battle since World War II: Pakistani Victory". The Australian (364). 14 September 1965. p. 1."(title has only 5 search results) as well as other meaningless edits[4], this page seems to be getting out of WP:Out of scope. Can you have a look? Check Talk:Battle of Chawinda#RSN. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 00:05, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

(edit conflict)Oh yes, I'm pretty well aware of canvassing TopGun.......I've watchlisted the page more than 2 years ago when you and your friends tried to change the outcome of the battle by synthesis of sources....in case you haven't noticed, I returned from a break just yesterday and my went through my watchlist just today... ƬheStrikeΣagle 09:23, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
To OccultZone: Please use the community talk pages(like WT:INDIA) for notifications about ongoing discussions and please be more neutral next time. ƬheStrikeΣagle 09:23, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
I have a hard time believing that you had it in your watchlist since you've never edited this article or its talkpage (I've heard all these excuses for responding to canvassing alot) but I'm going to not assume good or bad faith and just leave it at this because it's OZ's behaviour I am primarily concerned about )though your responding to his request was just as bad). --lTopGunl (talk) 10:00, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
There was no violation of WP:CANVASSING. Last time when I had notified on WT:INB, TopGun claimed it to be a violation of canvassing[5] and went on to change the rule of WP:CANVASSING, though the proposal failed and had 0 support. Just check Wikipedia talk:Canvassing#Canvassing Country .2F Nation level Wikiprojects. It is getting more evident to me that TopGun either wants every content dispute to be limited with 2 editors or only those who he found to be particularly supportive towards his opinion. Like I had basically "canvassed"(as per the definition of TopGun) Faizan, Nawabmalhi (on his page)[6] he had no issue, but if you find somebody who he has speculated to be against him, then it is the violation of WP:CANVASS. OccultZone (TalkContributionsLog) 11:02, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
I made a formal attempt to change the policy, and it only reflects positively on me that I did it the proper way (regardless of whether the change was made or not). I don't want the dispute to be between only two editors, rather that the editors that are invited are the ones that come through proper DR processes and talkpage notifications is not one of them (esp that you've been warned before about it). --lTopGunl (talk) 12:27, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

OH, PLEASE PLEASE, PLEASE...

Please DO NOT call vandalism "good faith edits"...

Call it what it is... Stupidity... Ignorance... Asininity...

Vandalism is wrong and vandals should be called out for the error of their ways... GWFrog (talk) 17:34, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

I probably called them good-faith as I must not have been sure if they're absolute vandalism!! (I admit I do this rather often)...Thanks for noticing! Cheers, ƬheStrikeΣagle 17:38, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Question.

I tried to contribute to an wiki page eariler, and you reverted it.

I guess I did it wrong. Using my phone, it was the only place I could add my edit.

Where would my edit better be placed?

Download the latest version of STiki

Hi Strike Eagle. Can you download the latest version of Stiki please?

I notice that your version is putting spaces between the mini-logo and the text, which isn't being parsed correctly by Wikipedia. e.g. compare this version of a user talk page with this one.

This bug was fixed the same day as the version you have was release so Andrew didn't rename the file!

Yaris678 (talk) 18:44, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Oh thanks..I noticed that error sometime ago but thought the user must have changed it...so didn't bother to check the history. New version downloaded. Thanks for the headsup. Cheers, ƬheStrikeΣagle 18:49, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
Hmm... looks like the error might not be totally removed. If the error persists with you, take a look at WT:STiki#A bug in warning messages. We're still trying to get to the bottom of it. Yaris678 (talk) 09:50, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

Trust me, I opened the edit page at least 20 mins before the edit was made. I'm thinking to post this as a blurb rather than RD as he is significant figure in Indian cinema. What say? Vensatry (ping) 17:24, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
Well I thought the same but decided we could go to a full-fledged blurb once we gather enough support. Let me convert it into a full blurb. Cheers, ƬheStrikeΣagle 17:25, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

Pavan's next GA

Pavan has finished work on Dookudu which is currently under GAR. His next intention is to elevate Mayabazar (Tollywood's answer to Bollywood's Mughal-e-Azam and Kollywood's Chandraleka), as well as a Telugu film called GAV, both of which you can help on. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:32, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Really wondering whether Mayabazar was Tollywood's answer to MEA. The former came before the latter. :) Vensatry (ping) 13:04, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

@Vensatry: Then Chandralekha came much before Mayabazar. But yes, it was an answer to both of them. Because Telugu cinema had a classic which stood on par with both of them as of now. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 13:19, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

"Chandralekha came much before Mayabazar" Did I ever deny that? :) Vensatry (ping) 15:25, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 launch newsletter

Round one of the 2015 WikiCup has begun! So far we've had around 80 signups, which close on February 5. If you have not already signed up and want to do so, then you can add your name here. There have been changes to to several of the points scores for various categories, and the addition of Peer Reviews for the first time. These will work in the same manner as Good Article Reviews, and all of the changes are summarised here.

Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round, and one of the new changes this year is that all scores must be claimed within two weeks of an article's promotion or appearance, so don't forget to add them to your submissions pages! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! I am trying to make a page for Robert Shields.... his own page.... besides his being on the Shields & Yarnell page. since he has his own life beyond the old Shields & Yarnell. Why did you flag his page? Thank you...

Hi, thanks for contacting me. Any article you wish to write must be from neutral point of view and must have reliable sources supporting your claim. Unfortunately, both of them were missing from the article authored by you and that led to it getting deleted. Cheers, ƬheStrikeΣagle 09:43, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

i am using Robert Shields own bio pages to make a page for him. Hard copies from his own office. Is there something wrong with that? I also have photos (from his office) that I've scanned and want to upload them. Is there a problem with that too? Why do you think the info that I posted is not reliable? Most everything I posted can be verified on Robert Shields own website and many other sources on the web. Please help me do this. Thank you!

I am seeing silly image in the article. A lady in the image of modi. when clicked then there is the real image. don't know what to do ..

WikiCup 2015 March newsletter

One of several of Godot13's quality submissions during round 1

That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. 64 competitors made it into this round, and are now broken into eight groups of eight. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups. Round 1 saw some interesting work on some very important articles, with the round leader Australia Freikorp (submissions) owing most of his 622 points scored to a Featured Article on the 2001 film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within which qualified for a times-two multiplier. This is a higher score than in previous years, as Smithsonian Institution Godot13 (submissions) had 500 points in 2014 at the end of round 1, and our very own judge, Colorado Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) led round 1 with 601 points in 2013.

In addition to Freikorp's work, some other important articles and pictures were improved during round one, here's a snapshot of a few of them:

You may also wish to know that The Core Contest is running through the month of March. Head there for further details - they even have actual prizes!
