Regarding your comment supporting your opposition to date autoformatting, I'd like to point out that the majority of dates are already linked, and it's actually de-linking them that would need to be done, should autoformatting (which is currently enabled on Wikipedia) be disabled. Cheers, --Sapphic (talk) 00:22, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

April Fools stuff

Why not stick a flag on your userpage saying "PLEASE TRICK ME ON APRIL FOOL'S DAY" on your user talk page? Oh wait... --Deskana, Champion of the Frozen Wastes 02:49, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Maybe that's the point? :) Steve Crossin :  Chat  03:02, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
No, this is a point: --------> --Deskana, Champion of the Frozen Wastes 03:06, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Actually, it isn't. is a point. Steve Crossin :  Chat  03:13, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
I think you're missing the point. --Deskana, Champion of the Frozen Wastes 03:15, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
You guys are all wrong. This is a point    .       J.delanoy :  Chat  03:31, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
But it isn't the point, which both of you are missing. --Deskana, Champion of the Frozen Wastes 03:32, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Now that's a point: User:Juliancolton/BlinkJuliancolton | Talk 22:02, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
I thought this was the point? — Ched :  Yes?   : ©  23:49, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
What's the point in that? –Juliancolton | Talk 17:03, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Jimbo needs a new pic for his talk page

I was going to change Jimbo's pic for the one on the Larry Sanger page ... not sure how much of a sense of humor he'd have about that though. — Ched :  Yes?   : ©  03:51, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Date autoformatting poll

Hi Steve, I noticed that like me, you are opposed to any form of dates autoformatting. I have created some userboxes which you might like to add to your userspace to indicate your position. You will find the boxes here. Regards, Ohconfucius (talk) 06:07, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Hello. My opposition was based on a cost to benefit analysis, basically, i think it will be too hard to implement, for such little benefit. That said, i strongly believe in the principle of consensus, and would respect the community's consensus on this matter. I don't see a need to turn my !vote into a statement, ie "This user opposes autoformatting". Best, Steve Crossin :  Chat  09:07, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

It's a bit late, but...

CTU Agents

I would like to point out that some characters which were merged in to the recurring and minor characters page had content on that page, but when the minor CTU agents page was splitou the information was lost in the transfer.--Lucy-marie (talk)

Steve has asked that I try to help where I can while he's busy in real life. Could you please point me to some links, and let me know what I can do to help? — Ched :  ?  10:53, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

An example of this was George Mason and another was Mike Doyle. I have not had a proper chance to search for any others.--Lucy-marie (talk) 11:49, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok .. I'll see what I can find, and get back to you as soon as I can. Cheers. ;) — Ched :  ?  17:23, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Image:Jack 24.jpg

You might remember putting this image back with this edit; well, someone else changed the 'main pic' to the cast here. Because the image is no longer used (and is a fair use image), if it isn't on the article within 7 days, it will be up for CSD.

I'm not really bothered either way; it could always be added again later. But if you think it's worth keeping, I'd suggest adding it back in somewhere.

Nuvola icon in Template:Blocked user

It took me a minute to discover that you were referring to this. What happened was: I saved a previous revision but didn't saw your edit, accidently overwriting it in the progress. Yes, the Nuvola icon might indeed be better. I've changed it. Thanks, theFace 20:22, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

MedCab: Cambodian-Thai stand-off

Yes, I'm hoping this will get things back to normal and constructive editing. Only time will tell whether constructive editing will return — it's a contentious topic. Thanks for intervening. Fconaway (talk) 07:13, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Shell to Sea Mediation

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Hello there. Just wondering why you closed the Shell to Sea mediation case, the issues are all still relevant, with edit wars still occurring on Willie Corduff and IRMS. Edit wars are not occurring on the other pages as I've made a commitment not to edit them until mediation is complete. I was waiting for two weeks to go by before prodding members of the Mediation committee to get something moving. Is the best idea now to go straight to Arb Com? Thanks! Fin© 08:08, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Hello. I closed the case as the case page had been inactive for quite some time, however when reading the case, I noted it was an issue that would probably re-arrise. I've done a lot of work at MedCab today, working on the way cases work, so disputes can be solved more effectively. If you would open a new case, I'd be happy to mediate it. That said, if Mediation fails, Arbcom may be the next step, but if it's mainly a content dispute, Arbcom would reject it. I've got a few techniques I use in Mediation, and I've mediated quite a few tough cases, some successful, some not, and I've learned a lot from it. We can get started on the mediation right away if you'd like, but a fresh start with a fresh case page would be best. Note that discussion will occur on the case/case talk page, rather than the article talk page. Best, Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 09:04, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Cool, thanks for the swift response! I'll try opening a new case in the next few days (will it essentially just be a copy & paste?), Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest (busy with uni stuff till then). Thanks! Fin© 09:48, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
No, it won't be a copy and paste, as I found the previous case page was somewhat lacking in adequate details, and because the case pages have a new format. Sorry to cause more work for you, but in the long run, I think mediation would be more successful. Best, Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 09:54, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
K, no problem, I thought the case page was a bit empty alright, but wasn't really sure what to add to it. Thanks for the help, I'll give you a shout when I request a new case. Thanks! Fin© 10:18, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, if you get a bit stuck as to what to add to the case page, send me an email, and i'll give you the advice that i can. That said, the new case template has been reworked to provide very clear and detailed instructions as to what details regarding the dispute the mediator needs to understand the situation. I can assess the situation myself, but that uses time i could be spending solving issues, so help me out with the details. =) If you could let me know when you file the case, that would be great, but i watch the New cases page, so i'll probably spot it anyway. Best of luck, Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 10:35, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Great, thanks much! =) Fin© 10:43, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
You're most welcome. :) Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 11:15, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I'm one of the editors involved in this. There's been a request for mediation accepted for this, the last one fell through so at what level is there going to be new mediation? I'd be anxious enough to get something rolling on this as soon as possible as there is another editor becoming involved and potential for conflict seems to to be increasing. Cheers! GainLine 10:30, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Sorry about the delayed reply, your comment somehow got lost. :) The case will be conducted at MedCab, and i will contact the Mediation Committee and ask them to close the case there, i find Medcom can work well, but as it is bound by strict protocols, can be gamed easily, and i feel medcab would work well here. Best, Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 11:15, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Sweet, just anxious to get it moved forward, Its been dragging out. GainLine 11:21, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, i know the feeling. :) Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 11:25, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Could you please see Talk:Integrated Risk Management Services. I've tried reasoning and working through problems but to almost no avail. I don't know if theres anything you can do to move things along but at this point it is sorely needed and any input would be helpful. thanks GainLine 20:56, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Yep, I can do that. Additionally, MedCom has given me the all clear to conduct this case at MedCab, I assume the MedCom case will either be closed or placed on hold. If the MedCab case could be opened as soon as possible, that would be great. Best, Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 22:18, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, I've also raised the issue brought to the fore on the IRMS talk page at COI noticeboard, I'm not really expecting any outcome but its there anyway. I'm also considering bring things up at OR noticeboards as well but will hold off in the short term. GainLine 09:02, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, generally, long standing, highly contentious disputes (as this one appears to be) don't have much success at noticeboards, and require a higher, more guided method of dispute resolution. That said, I can't do much until mediation commences, so as soon as the case is filed, I can get started. :) Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 00:52, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it's 01:35 in Ireland, so I'm going to sleep now =p I'll try to get around to it at some point tomorrow (urr...today - Wednesday). Thanks! Fin© 00:36, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Yep yep, I'm just starting it now! Fin© 22:20, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Excellent, excellent. Ping me when it's prepared. Please be thorough with the case details. :) Best, Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 22:29, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Ding ding! Hope that's ok. I tried to cover a lot of stuff without going into too much detail, gimme a shout if anything needs fixing/changing/expanding/whatever. Thanks! Fin© 23:00, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Marvellous. Let's get started immediately. Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 23:10, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Ur, you said "Incivility and personal attacks must be maintained" which, while a novel approach, I don't think is the best way forward. Made me laugh though =) Thanks! Fin© 23:25, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I've fixed that. Don't I feel like an idiot. Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 23:28, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

MedCab

Please don't close a case that I'm mediating without first requesting my permission. Thanks, PhilKnight (talk) 13:18, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Hm, I fucked up with the close of that case, my apologies. All I saw was this section, which is two months old, and assumed there was nothing else, so closed the case as stale. Ass u me. But as for the Shell to Sea mediation, I did close that as stale, and while Formal Mediation has been requested, I'm prepared to accept the case immediately, and the parties (see above thread) seem dissatisfied with the delay from MedCom. I think I can do something about it now. But sorry about the fuck up. Best, Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 21:41, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
No problem. Thanks for the closing the Shell to Sea mediation case. PhilKnight (talk) 22:13, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Was wondering, what do you think of the new case format? :) Steve Crossin Talk/Help us mediate! 22:17, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Nice. :) PhilKnight (talk) 22:23, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Ok, ive filled out the extended form with as much of the dispute as i could summarize. I had trouble answering the 'How do you think we can help?' section so i did what i could. Thanks in advance! Bonewah (talk) 14:29, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
