Welcome SriMesh

Welcome!

Hello, SriMesh, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

A note about duplicate articles

Hi there. I noticed you created the articles Leeville, Saskatchewan and Kindersley. I have redirected them to their more appropriate locations, at Assiniboia, Saskatchewan and Kindersley, Saskatchewan respectively. In the future, you may want to use this method instead of creating duplicate articles; it's easier for readers, because it guides them to the correct place, and its easier for editors because there's only one article to maintain. I hope this is helpful information. Mindmatrix 19:00, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

RE:Userboxes

Sure you can use the userbox. There free for anyone to use, even the ones that are in people's "spaces" (technically nobody own's anything on wikipedia). You can also replace it with {{User:Royalguard11/userboxes/riderfan|gender=she}} to get the right gender. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 22:27, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

You know, if you're interested in Canadian-related topics, there's a project dedicated to it, and also a noticeboard for Canadian-related things. -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 23:35, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

New article

I made a new article called History of immigration to Canada to host your history additions to main Immigration to Canada article. Thanks for your contribution and please edit the new article as you see fit. Regards, Deet 01:01, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Block Settlement

I appreciate your effort to add useful links to this article. However I don't think it's really right to single out Block Settlements as a Sask. thing, and as well a link should always be in context. We should link to Sask. History in a section that deals with Saks history explicitly. Thanks, and I hope you continue your good efforts. Kevlar67 16:28, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

WOW!

I Just saw your work on Agriculture in Canada, and WOW! Excellent work!

The Exceptional Newcomer Award
I Kevlar do herby acknowledge your excellent contributions to Western Canada and Agriculture related articles. Good work

Kevlar67 22:31, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey don't mention it. That article has been an embarassment for a long time, and you've done good work improving it. Kevlar67 02:16, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Canada West / Western Canada

Canada West is actually an old historical name for Ontario while Canada East was Quebec. Those names have nothing to do with the regions we think of today. I suggest removing the proposed merged. Kevlar67 10:00, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

For you work in Saskatchewan RM's

Great job for all your work in Saskatchewan Rural Municipalities. One of the few areas that Wikipedia is lacking in right now, but hopefully not for long! -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 04:49, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Nonsense

Welcome to Wikipedia! We could really use your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as Frenchman Butte No. 501, Saskatchewan) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. If you want to test things out, edit the sandbox instead. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Dropal 23:19, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Bios

A tag has been placed on Greenfield No. 529, Saskatchewan, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dropal 23:23, 1 January 2007 (UTC) Hello this is very rude and distasteful for a comment. As I have made quite a few additions regarding RMs, this article is not finished yet.

Saskatoon neighbourhoods template

I've placed a question at Talk:List of neighbourhoods in Saskatoon regarding the template you've added. I don't really see it as being realistic that Saskatoon's neighbourhoods would be considered notable enough to justify separate articles (Sutherland, Nutana and Riversdale a being the only exceptions since they were once independent towns). I invite your comment on the talk page. Cheers. 23skidoo 17:08, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello can u fix it?

I think there is some problem with my formatting... --Nirajrm talk sign plz! 05:40, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Market Mall

You're using an image of the wrong Market Mall for Nutana Suburban Centre. That's an image of Calgary's Market Mall. I'm going to go ahead and remove it for now. PS. Never mind, I see you caught it already. Cheers. 23skidoo 17:30, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

No problem. However as I indicated on the article's talk page, I don't think it's a good idea to include a list of all the stores in Market Mall. I believe it violates something in WP:NOT and is one of the things that might draw unwanted attention from people with itchy AFD trigger fingers (for this reason I also recommend against similar listings for Confed, Midtown (which had an article at one point), Grosvenor, Lawson, etc.. A better idea would be to have a paragraph about the history of the mall (and the others in the applicable articles), when it was built, etc. 23skidoo 16:17, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Practice

Formatting of Saskatoon neighborhood articles

Hi. I was just checking on some neighborhood articles, and f you want to reduce the chances of someone nominating the neighborhood articles for AFD, I recommend you should have proper introduction paragraphs. Please see what I've added to both the Nutana Suburban Centre and Confederation Suburban Centre articles for examples of what I'm talking about. Cheers. 23skidoo 16:44, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello again.

Lets move all additional info from (merge) Midtown Plaza to (with) Midtown Plaza (Saskatoon). Regards, Peter Horn 15:26, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello once more,

Just a reminder: say Sears Canada & Walmart Canada rather than just Sears & Walmart in every and all Canadian mall articles. All malls should have their own article, incorporating them in a neghbourhood article makes the latter too large. Peter Horn 19:55, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Correction, make that Wal-Mart Canada Peter Horn 20:00, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
And...

You might put the pictures directly in the individual independent (selfstanding) mall articles. Btw your nasty weather is about to wham us. Peter Horn 22:29, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Greetings... you contacted me on Wikimapia with some questions. If you haven't already done so, I'd create a username for yourself on Wikimapia... may as well use the same one as here. There's a great Wikimapia FAQ on the blog of a guy named Matt Jones (http://wikimapia.mattjonesblog.com/). It goes over the main functions and offers some good advice. Enjoy! Drm310 20:10, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm...Okayyy... if you're going to add such tiny tiny malls as Churchill Shopping Plaza, you might as well also add the Avalon "mall" also. (at the SE intersection of Broadway & Cascade) But seriously, there really has to be a lower limit of what collection of stores gets included in the article and Churchill, in my books, is below that limit...it's barely a local collector, much less a serious "mall". Thomas Dzubin Talk 02:02, 19 March 2007 (UTC) Nevermind, I see that Avalon is already in the list. Thomas Dzubin Talk

It appears that User:Jrsnbarn moved the page from Wildwood, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Wildwood, Saskatoon. I don't think it needs to be disambiguated anymore than that anyway. It's not like there's two Wildwoods in Saskatoon. -Royalguard11(Talk·Review Me!) 01:10, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Article Status at Wikipedia

Hey, thanks for the wikilove! You had some questions about "article status" at wikipedia. Like much of wikipedia, it can be a bit confusing, because several different processes have been developed over the years to rate articles; many work independantly, and some overlap. I will do my best to give most of the standard "ratings systems" and the like.

  • Stub - Articles that are very short, often just a basic introduction to an article, like a sentance or two. Stubs are an obvious introduction to expansion.
  • Article Assessments - Articles may be assessed by any WikiProject that has oversight over the article. Not all articles are under the oversight of a WikiProject, and there is a great deal of variance in the activity at some projects. Some are VERY active, others are completely defunct. Your own mileage may vary. WikiProjects may assess articles on the standard assessment scale as follows:
    • Stub Class (see above)
    • Start Class - An article with meaningful content (more than a stub), but with substandard writing, referencing, and organization.
    • B Class - An article which has some improvements over start class, but still with room for improvement.
    • A Class - Well Written, well referenced, and well organized, follows the manual of style.
  • Good Articles - Wikipedia Good Articles are assessed by any volunteer editor who wishes to. Any reviewer may promote an article as a good article, however they are trusted to use good judgement in applying the good article criteria. Some editors like the GA system, because they see it as a good stepping stone to Featured status. Other editors disparage it because they think that its unbureaucratic nature (anyone may review and promote articles) leads to uneven quality of Good Articles and is also open to abuse. The truth is probably somewhere in between.
  • Featured Articles - Literally the best that wikipedia has to offer. Brilliant and compelling prose, comprehensive coverage, strict adherance to all policies, guidelines, and the manual of style. The featured article nomination process is very involved, and articles are usually under the strictest of scrutiny. VERY few articles (less than 0.1%) are featured. Some featured articles get chosen as the Main Page "Today's Featured Article".

Also, there are many avenues for help in improving an article, if you are having trouble:

  • Many Good Article reviewers try to give you lots of pointers and help in improving an article, but since GA reviewers are each unique, your mileage may vary.
  • In a featured article nomination, many editors will make suggestions to improve an article. This tends to be VERY nitpicky (as it should be) and is often the last step before an article gets featured.
  • The League of Copyeditors is a wikiproject dedicated to helping improve the grammar, spelling, and prose of articles. Feel free to ask for help there.
  • Peer Review is an opportunity to receive feedback on an article. The feedback here is often as detailed as a Feature nomination, so it can be quite a bit of help in improving an article.
  • Request for Feedback is another venue to get an article reviewed.
  • Since you seem to be interested in Canadian articles, you might try joining the Canadian WikiProject. As I already mentioned, WikiProjects can be fantastic or can be worthless. I have no idea how this one does, but joining WikiProjects requires little commitment, and can help organize editors who share common interests. I belong to about a dozen myself.

I Hope that was of some help. If you ever have any questions, drop a line by my talk page.--Jayron32|talk|contribs 03:56, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey, no problemo. If you need any specific help or want comments on any specific article, just ask! --Jayron32|talk|contribs 04:06, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Travel routes via MS Streets and Trips

Just wondering what the reasoning is to put the MS Streets and Trips journey along the road is? Seems rather odd to me, the way the information is presented seems like just a cut-and-paste of computer-generated text (wait a minute, it is! :) ). What are they supposed to add to the articles? (Perhaps the information can be displayed differently)?

Oh, and I'd like to echo the praise for the work done on Sask. communities, roads, etc. - I'm planning on creating an article for a small Sask. community (where my grandmother's family homesteaded, where my grandmother and mother were born, and where I still have several relatives and I've visited several times), small in size, but still somewhat significant in scope - not saying which one in hopes that no one creates the article before me (like has happened before)! The Editor's Desk

Welcome: by SriMesh

  • This would be our first full-fledged edition of our Newsletter, and we'd like to start by saying we are very happy to have you among us.
  • Advertisements for recruitments within your WikiProject sub-groups are also welcome. If you see a new Saskatchewan created article by a Wikipedian who has not signed up at Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan, please extend a welcome to them. We'll run special sections, and recurring columns in the coming issues.

Saskatchewan Roads: by SriMesh

  • The Saskatchewan Roads Wiki Project has been merged within the scope of WikiProject Canada Roads recently. It is a group of wikipedians who work on providing information about Saskatchewan roads and highways. Their contributions gain more significance as we try to provide more information about our thoroughfares. You can help too. Contact the members on the Saskatchewan Roads wiki project pages to learn how you can help in making the best highway pages in Wikipedia!

Newsletter Naming

Invitation by SriMesh

  • An invition is extended to members / subscribers to design a new WP Sask newsletter name with its own banner or font style. This would give a similar appearance to the WP Sask newsletter as the Wikipedia community newsletter name the Signpost which used the old english font for its unique naming. A proposal could be offered up for our own Wiki Project name for the new WP Sask newsletter similar to....Star Phoenix, Leader Post, Herald, Booster, or Times Herald (which are already in use for SK newspapers)....Something is needed for the WP Sask Newsletter.

Outreach

It seems like a lot of WikiProjects have an Outreach section to recruite new members, interact, and whatnot. How about one for the WikiProject Saskatchewan? Tell me what you think. Mr. C.C. 05:16, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

We just need to set a format for how things will go. Mr. C.C. 05:33, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
I could tinker around with one as a start. Mr. C.C. 06:50, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
You could look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Outreach for some ideas. Mr. C.C. 06:55, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
The Outreach page has been started. Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan/Outreach Mr. C.C. 08:35, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Newsletter Banner

That's good idea about the banner. In fact, I had an idea about giving the newsletter a name. We should go with this idea. Mr. C.C. 06:04, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Collaborations Page

I have seen other WP have collaborations pages on them. I was thinking about starting one. If you want to read more about collobarations, they have an indepth article for that.

If you want to get started on a collaborations page, than by all means do so. Mr. C.C. 04:37, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the smile!

^_^ Thanks and hugs --srini 09:52, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Delivery Robots and Wikiproject Template

Hmmmm, good ideas, but it's too bad that the newsletter won't be updated once delivered in full content mode by bot. The template bot is a good idea as well.

WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods

I have a brainwave and I came up with this WikiProject. I don't know if this WikiProject exists or not. If it doesn't, I will start work on soon. Mr. C.C. 06:52, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

I have been working on this WikiProject. Mr. C.C. 06:52, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
You see it here: WP:SKCN I guess consider this your invite. Ha! Mr. C.C. 08:21, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Let's not get carried away. Electoral districts can be a future addition. Census divisions and SARM divisions maybe a future addition. But rural municipalities, urban neighbourhoods, and communities (ie: villages, cities, towns, hamlets, etc.). I am undecided about reserves. Mr. C.C. 16:42, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Wiki e-mail

Hey! Is your wikipedia e-mail enabled? I'd sent a message. --Victor D PARLE 19:47, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

The Meetup

I didn't know how long it would be going. I am work Sunday's at GC Teleservices doing the evening shift. So I put my self under regrets. But if it won't be going all that long then I could possibly hitch a ride. But remember the keyword is possibly. Mr. C.C. 06:50, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Newsletter For WP SKCN & News Section

I am all for a newsletter for the WikiProject SKCN. I am thinking of putting up a news section on the main page. It would be like the news section on the Wikipedia main page. Mr. C.C. 06:53, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Collaborations Page

I think that page looks awesome. It gives use a good scope of things that can be done, improved, etc.. Mr. C.C. 06:57, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

WP SKCN Userbox

Just add {{User SKCN}} to your userpage. Mr. C.C. 07:02, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

It's seems we have doing a lot of dialoguing in the recent. I am here again to let you know about another part of the WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods. I have intiated the features articles section. It can be found here:

Wikipedia:WikiProject Saskatchewan Communities & Neighbourhoods/Featured Articles

The aim of featured articles is to have them featured on the WikiProject, than have if ready, nominate them for featured status on the main page.

Meetup

I've added an issue in the agenda, have a look. Also I've a work shift from 5:00 pm on Saturday, so can we try to wind up by 3:00 pm-ish? Check your wiki e-mail for details. --Victor D PARLE 05:57, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
