Katerenka is retiring
See her talk page. It says that she is retiring. December21st2012Freak Happy Holidays! 03:54, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
- I've talked to her in private recently. See the essay she redirected her user page to. She agrees with it one hundred percent and has finally given up on English Wikipedia, though she's sticking around on the French, Simple and Meta Wikipedias. I, for one, will miss her. She was friendly, polite and very helpful, both to myself and others. I'll ask that you leave her page alone, please, in case it didn't occur to you. You can see a conversation about her between myself and Beeblebrox here. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 04:04, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

- I think the "DO NOT EDIT MY TALK PAGE" would have been enough notice for me not to edit. I agree with some of that essay, specifically "Leadership with authority", but I doubt it'll happen any time soon. Thanks for fixing those typos on my userpage, Katerenka, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 16:13, 16 December 2009 (UTC)
- The part I agreed with most was probably changing how the consensus system works, but I'm too lazy to say anything about it. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:17, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi L.S. (if I may be so informal), Thanks for your comment on the Clan MacIntyre article achieving GA status. I have been on and off Wikipedia since summer. I have one other article, on Philip Frohman I want to get up to GA. I have obtained a photograph of him with permission from the copyright owner to publish it on WP, but I only just learned how to get OTRS approval and upload pictures. Once that's done I thing I will nominate it. So that's my project for the new year. Whatever winter holidays you celebrate, I hope you have happy ones and a great New Year. P.S. I have never been stalked before.--Tomaterols (talk) 23:50, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

My Retirement
Dear Lord of the Strange,
It is with sadness in my heart that I announce my official retirement. Alas, my real life has become too busy for me to dedicate the amount of time I'd like to the project... and my addiction to it distracts me from my other obligations.
I will miss you all. Best of luck as you continue to grow and refine this wonderful repository of knowledge. Take care and maybe I'll see you 'round the 'net in the future.
Yours,
The V-Man (Said · Done) 03:14, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- Nooo! No-no-no-no. The whole "let's go stalk Javert's talk page" team is gone! First Bubba, then Katerenka, now Vicenarian. And a lot of others, but I can't remember them all. I'm the only one left! BRLghjvb! But I can understand your decision (I (very, very) briefly considered it myself once). Attempts to assist you in your quest
Hello, Spongefrog.
I have decided to give you some links to pages where the words "passed away" are used. Deor | Death and state funeral of Gerald Ford | Kamala Sankrityayan | Amy Polumbo | Abu Bakr | Trouble T Roy | Pennsylvania House of Representatives elections, 2004 | When I'm Back on My Feet Again | Umar | Yosef Babad (HTC) | Robert Novak | Where the streets had a name | Apostolic succession | Very Rev. Fr. Folan | List of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple characters | Operation Wandering Soul | Revati | Barney Lutz | Tek Bahadur Chokhyal | George William Foote | Loganathan Arumugam | Peter Rees Jones | John T. Struble | Ed Hughes (anchor) | Uthum Herat | James Wells (activist) | Jun Ross | Lou Richards (Hatebreed) | Mus`ab ibn `Umair | Alfred Lueben | 2008–09 in English football | Rebecca Winters (pioneer) | 2008–09 in German football | Vasif Adigozalov | Joseph De Piro | Robert H. Justman | Obsession within Frankenstein | Angela Coughlan | Saburō Sakai |
I have customized the links so that each one will disappear after you change "passed away" to "died."
Unfortunately, I had to disable that feature, because the links started randomly disappearing for no apparent reason. I returned the next day, and found to my displeasure that the links were replacing themselves with other links. So, you will have to manually remove them if you do not want them there anymore. Sorry about that!! --Paperfork ♠ 16:30, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Altered Speedy Deletion rationale: Troop 714
Hello Spongefrog, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have deleted a page you tagged (Troop 714) under a criterion different from the one your provided, which was inappropriate or incorrect. CSD criteria are narrow and specific to protect the encyclopedia, and the process is more effective if the correct deletion rationale is supplied. Consider reviewing the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Thanks again! GedUK 20:41, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Merry Christmas!!
Once again it is festive season, a time where festive decorations are displayed and gifts are swapped; but what about the true meaning of christmas? The true meaning of christmas is about the fight for freedom and how in times of hardship and misery, one person leads their people to freedom as a great warrior; for those who fight for a cause are warriors and those who fight for a worthy cause are great warriors. Such an act earns respect and honour; but most importantly, brings happiness to their people. So to achieve this as happiness lies in other people's happiness and greatness lies in how you deal with little people, we selflessly think of others in the hope that they will be happy this christmas.
Hi Spongefrog, have a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year 2010!

BTW, I was about to start a section on the talk page about British/American/Australian English, but had to sign out just before I clicked save. But I'll do it now. I'll probably chip in at that article and some of the GAs you're working on with the same sort of stuff I did at WWII (as I've already done with some of them afew weeks ago), Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:48, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

It it my sad duty to imform you today that my good frind in real life, OSK is herby retireing from wikipedia. While he was a Myspacer and had a few run inns with admins in the past. - Thanks. I've been meaning to do it since my RfA, but never got the time. I'm still going to do a bit userbox trimming (and re-adding) and then the quotes are a tad excessive, considering I have a whole subpage of them. Speaking of subpages, I think I'll CSD a few more... - I understand what you mean, but isn't this to be viewed as a good thing? Generally a GAR would have been closed by now, but I think Nikkiamara is giving editors time to address the concerns. If you asked her outright to pass/fail it now...well, I don't know. You could try, but I think she's more likely to fail it with the concerns still there. Well, you can give it a shot, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:30, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- Im too scared to. I don;t want my first GAN to do down in flames even though we all put in a ton of work. If it does pass, Ill give you, Buzzzsherman, and Twilight co-nom credit. (AKA, I'll give you all the UBX for it)--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 23:15, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- If I were you, I'd try to fix the rest of the issues. I suppose leaving on or two unadressed wouldn't make that much difference (though that depends). Re:O hai there...
Looks pretty good to me. One minor issue: if the author's name includes a middle initial, or if the publisher's name includes "Co" or "inc" or something like that, don't include a final period. |publisher=XYZ Inc. will result in "XYZ Inc..". Other than that, great job with these. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 16:49, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- No, you did it right. The double period only appears when a period ends the publisher name, as in the above example. The author's initials issue is a formatting thing as opposed to a citebook error. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 18:30, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yep, that's fine, so long as you're consistent about it. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 20:54, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- Just noticed one of your edit summaries...are you using WP:REFTOOLS? And can you go harass Coldplay or someone else to help you out? It's quite a long task on your own...Nikkimaria (talk) 22:04, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
- There's no current consensus that I'm aware of regarding accessdates. The most common form is 2010-01-25, and they don't need to be consistent with the dates used in the article (as those follow different style rules). Reftools has recently changed from 2010-01-25 to a format similar to that used in the article text. It doesn't matter which one you use, so long as all references use the same format. Hope that helps. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 16:47, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

See, Wikipedia is falling apart because Jakkinx has retired. I think the next one is Notedgrant. First Bubba, than Vicenarian, than Katerenka (actually semi-retired), than Orangesodakid, than Abce2, and now him. Lord of the Vulcans 03:50, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

- Well spoken SpongeFrog. Editors come and go, some take breaks for years at a time as they go through College, get new jobs etc. The total number of editors is fairly stable, the total amount of editing is stable at about ten million edits every 6 weeks, readership is growing and most importantly month by month the encyclopaedia is getting better. - Sort of...it's a doppelganger, not an editing account...or...no, I don't follow you. Do you mean the two suggested by D21st2012F? I've only made one of those, and don't plan to make the other. But why does it really matter? Accounts are cheap. Like redirects. They aren't a huge problem so long as they don't make edits...or are they... Well I now have just as many GA's as you LSF. How about that? Guess I am going on to round two of the WP:wikicup afterall.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 18:07, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- I noticed that. I am glad to hear it. I was about to leave an irrelevant comment somewhere, but decided against it. Any chance of your WWII nom doing anything soon? I keep meaning to compile a list of badly formatted refs I can't do, but never get time. I've been on a semi-break for a while, but I should be back to normal activity next week. (P.S. - Was that "no to round two" supposed to be "on to round two"), Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 18:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- I'll take a look at WWII. IMHO, we should just tell Nikimaria that she can pass/fail it now. I don't really care. I mean, I can just re-nominate the article and actually get points for it in the Wikicup.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 18:51, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- She's gone "traveling". May as well give us until she comes back. Please?! I promise to work on it over next week! ...please... I'm ninety...four...point seven percent sure it would fail. - Well what ref's are still missing? You seem to have more edits to the artilce than me now beause you have to fix these things.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 19:03, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- No refs are missing (as far as I know). It's just formatting. Some are missing ISBNs, publishers, or years (well, that's books. Web citations are a different matter). Some were ordered differently, i.e. some might have been set out as "last name, first name, date, title, publiser, isbn" others could be "first, last, title, year, publisher" etc. I've added a citation template to almost every reference, as that formats them automatically, and added in info as I went along. Now I'm going through the list to catch the ones that already had cite templates, but were missing stuff, or were used incorrectly. I have a terrible system, I know. I would do more work on it if my browser didn't take so long to load the damn page... Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 19:14, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Well If you've got everything but the correct citation format, then I guess I can help out again. I can't really do anything about the ISBN numger though..... I'll take a look at the refs though. - I've mostly finished the formats, it's mainly missing info now. I was going alphabetically (using ctrl+F) to begin with; now I'm going through the reflist one by one...shouldn't take too long...it will get done. If there's any I can't do, I'll write them down and bring it up at the GAR page, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 19:27, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- does that mean that I should wait for you to bring them up on the GAN?--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 19:31, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Possibly...it may be slightly awkward with two people working on this kind of thing. By all means, do it if you want, or if you see I've made any mistakes correct them. Or get a head start. Or do a few random ones. Whatever really. Up to you. Right now, I'm in the middle of a string of awkward refs, with specific chapters written by different authors. My brain is about to explode. If you want to help with the (hypothetical) difficult ones, of course you can, but you'll have to really do your homework. I have a feeling some may be fakes, or very obscure self-publications... Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 19:47, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- Pretty much dito to everything. Trust me, I have almost every WWII related book/published source that I can think of and yet, I've never even heard of some of these refs.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 20:22, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

According to the Urban Dictionary, one 'n' means something...rather different... Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:48, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Well This is the last article that we need to work on in order to make Battle of Belgium a WP:GTC. I noticed that you made a couple of edits to it. So what do you think is left before we can nominate it for a GAN?--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 20:55, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Uh...well...to be honest, I have no idea. Sorry. I'm not good at the assessment sort of thing. Probably more-or-less what you said at Dapi's talk page. Maybe if you linked up the footnotes to their corresponding references, though I might do that if I figure out how (and if it's appropriate). Good luck on getting it to GTC, though. If I were you, I'd nominate it, and even if it doesn't pass, all the issues should have been raised. Kinda like what happened to WWII. Nah, that'd be too easy......
P.S. - I should have those WWII refs finished by tomorrow at the latest. Well, not finished, there are about half a dozen ones outstanding. If I just CAN'T do them, I'll list them at the GAR, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 21:09, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you sooo much for everything. I'll nominate the Hannut article and as for WWII. IF/when it passes, you WILL get co-nom status for it. Don't act soo modest this time! WWII is your third GA as much as it is mine. I'll also be sure to give Buzzzsherman, and TH partial credit as well. Think of it like this, it took one person to nominate it, but four to get it passed.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 21:16, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I was going to refuse WWII credit initially (if it does pass), but after spending hours of my life making those horrible minor edits - ugh - I don't think I'd feel so bad anymore. Nikkimaria saw it and- actually, you've probably seen it for yourself at the GAR. There's just one ref, no. 285 I think. May need to be replaced (but that shouldn't be too hard, as long as some info is tweaked slightly). BTW, wouldn't you be better submitting Battle of Hannut at the WP:MILHIST page? You'll probably get a quicker repsonse, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 20:46, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

A job for you
Well once we get the GAN of World War II and Battle of Hannut over and done with, I've got another job for us to do. Battle of the Bulge. This was once a TFA but now it's been delisted and is at start class. It requires some (a lot) more citations and for thge existing ones to be corrected. I have all of the sources that the article requires. (I'm adding them now) but I need your help to correct the existing citations as well as the links to other websites. (Author, accessdate, work, publisher, ISBN, Page number ect...) and I'll add in new citations that will be fully sourced so that way you don't get "Citation overload" like you did with the WWII article. Once the citations are fixed, I'll re-nominate it for a GA. Sounds good? Perhaps we need to draw up a list for us. Like "we work on X then we move on to Y then we nominate Z ect ect...--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 04:43, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- Good good. At least I won't get bored. I'll take a look as soon as I get time. BTW, I notice you're judging articles based on their WP:MILHIST rating, wouldn't it be better to ask for assessment there? (or maybe that's not the way it works, I'm not sure) You'll almost definitely get a quicker response too, the normal GAN page is backlogged like...something...that's...really backlogged. About the list, I'll leave that to you, I have neither knowledge nor preference, but maybe working on some of the Fall Gelb articles? Or you could even create one for Case Yellow. There's a Fall Rot article. Or maybe it isn't significant enough. Just a suggestion, take it or leave it, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 11:22, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- Well there's always User:Coldplay Expert/Case Yellow for you to work on. I hope to in a few years to so, get all of these to B or GA class. So for only 2 are at GA and only about 2-3 are at B class. Alot of work to do but for now, let's get Battle of Hannut and Battle of the Bulge done with. Only 2 at a time!--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 19:21, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
