Hi, Spongefrog! Thanks for the Barnstar - it's nice to get some recognition when doing bits of cleanup. I know what you mean about wanting to do things but not being able to - I delayed creating an article for months because I couldn't decide how to write the opening line. And it's still a stub. Speedy deletion of Alastair Joseph Scott
A tag has been placed on Alastair Joseph Scott requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. This program can see ypur isp adreess your ip supplier it also puts files on your computer non essential to the operation of the program. So to me this program is not very safe at all. in fact Norton security picks up paltalk as a spyware program, which it is because the ademins in there can tell wich operating system you on ow much memory you got and what browser you using. New Barnstar
Congratulations Spongefrog - you have been chosen to receive my newly patented "The I'm Giving You This Barnstar Because I Want One In Return" Barnstar. Unfortunately I
have no idea how to create barnstars, so it looks suspiciously like your "I Have No Barnstar" Barnstar, but seeing as its a gift (of sorts), it would be rather rude of you to complain about this.
It's not much too look at, but here it is:
The I'm Giving You This Barnstar Because I Want One In Return Barnstar* |
You have been awarded this Barnstar for three reasons.
- 1. It is true.
- 2. I think you are hilarious, and am hoping that by talking to you some of your brilliance will rub of on me (or at the very least you’ll reply with something funny that I can steal and claim as my own)
- 3. I think your idea of telling people to give you a Barnstar or go on a list is brilliant, and I wanted to use it. I’m far too polite, so won’t use it without your permission, but I thought if I gave you a gift, you might look more favorably on my request.
- One little bit of small print – when you give me the aforementioned Barnstar (that’s when, not if) – you shouldn’t give “The I'm Giving You This Barnstar Because I Want One In Return" Barnstar back, as if you do I will then have to give you one. Should I give you a Barnstar other than "The I'm Giving You This Barnstar Because I Want One In Return" Barnstar, I will have given you two Barnstars, while you will have given me one. This would not sit well for me, so instead I would give you another "The I'm Giving You This Barnstar Because I Want One In Return" Barnstar, meaning you will have to give me one back. Predictably you will return to me another "The I'm Giving You This Barnstar Because I Want One In Return” Barnstar, and the cycle would go on and on each giving the other "The I'm Giving You This Barnstar Because I Want One In Return" Barnstars, until eventually one of us gets board, or more likely dies. Thank You for reading this small print, and thank you in advance for the Barnstar

I don't know what to call this post
Hey Spongefrog, my new pal, I just wanted to thank you for the Barnstars – thank you so much. What was really great was that you gave me credit for your idea (with the Great Idea Barnstar). I would like to give you a Great Idea Barnstar (or even two, due to that anti-vandalism thing), because, 1) They are Great Ideas 2) You’re 2-1 up in the Barnstar giving stakes (and mine doesn’t really count) and 3) You’re uber-cool – I was really worried you would think I was some random person who was going to stalk you (just a word of warning - I may start to do this if you’re too nice).
Anyhoo – I want to give you a Barnstar, but don’t even know how too give them, so would appreciate some help (who knows, I might give you some kind of “Helping Random Idiots Who Don’t Know How to Use Wikipedia Barnstar – assuming there is one)
Thanks once again,
--ScribbleStick (talk) 20:54, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
BARNSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a Brilliant Idea Barnstar | ||
For the reasons given in the above thread ScribbleStick (talk) 21:24, 8 May 2009 (UTC) |
Two more questions (though go to bed and answer them next time your on - so tomorrow morning): First did we (and by we I mean you) want to set up a combined Shame/Non-Shame List so we can work together Shaming/Non-Shaming people? If not that’s cool.
And second…
…
…shoot, I forgot what I was going to ask. Damn. I only remember it was the more important of the two questions. Oh well, I’ll ask you when I remember.
I joined your fanclub and sent John Carter praise like the mindless robot that does whatever it’s told that I am.
And yes, I think anyone who takes the time to talk to me is uber-cool.
Stay I touch.
Conduct
Feel free to move my name. Actually, right now, considering that you seem to be, in effect, urging people to solicit for barnstars when they haven't necessarily done anything really exceptional to deserve them, I am myself becoming more than a bit ashamed of you. There is something you should know, by the way. Such awards are, in general, supposed to be given out after the individual has done something really remarkable, like, for instance, a GA, FA, or something similar. You yourself, despite your habit of seemingly trolling for awards for some time, could be seen to have deserved some recognition. But I find it really appalling that you now seem to be urging people to solicit for them and threatening some sort of negative response if they don't. We are supposed to be building an encyclopedia as our primary objective, not trying to beg for awards. John Carter (talk) 15:06, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Fair enough, I've left a huge apology longer than a stub on your talk. --Spongefrog (talk) 17:14, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Understood. No real problems, and my apologies for the clearly retarded infantile vandal who hit your pages. Like I said, you seem to have done some serious work already, so I could see how you earned some recognition. But it probably isn't the best idea, OK, it is a bad idea, to tell others that they can come asking for them as well. For what it's worth, I haven't myself done either a GA or FA yet, although I did do a little copyediting to Preity Zinta, because I tend to do the more administrative functions almost exclusively. There aren't that many people to do them, unfortunatly. But if anyone comes asking for help getting award again, maybe just tell them to add User:Kanesue/Missing barnstar to their page, that would probably get better reception in the long run. John Carter (talk) 18:47, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- "There aren't that many people to do them, unfortuntly [sic]". Hm...I think I would make a very good admin, wouldn't I. --Spongefrog (talk) 20:23, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi again
Okay, is it cool with you if I just copy your list onto my page then? And if we when there is a new name to go on the list, we just tell each other? Is there a better way?
Also we have a problem about John Carter – I sent him messages of praise like you told me to, then asked if he would give me a Barnstar. He came back today saying he couldn’t see what I have done that deserves a Barnstar, and wants to see something I’ve done that does deserve one. I haven’t done anything worth a Barnstar, so he’s not gonna give me one – so should he go on the Shame List as well as the Non-Shame List – this doesn’t seem fair because he gave you your first one and seems like a nice guy, but then rules are rules. What do I do???? Also another quick question while you’re there – how do I make a Barnstar Page on my userpage?
Thanks,
--ScribbleStick (talk) 20:57, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Oops…I just read the above thread – is our brilliant plan off then? Also was he refering to me with his comment about "clearly retarded infantile vandal", or did somone else vandalise your page? Also, isn't he an administrator or somthing, I don't think he's allowed to insult people?
--ScribbleStick (talk) 21:04, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Me Again
Hey Sponge (do you mind if I call you that, its just cuts down the typing time),
If you’re still on board then that’s great. However, I think we will have to be very cunning – if we aren’t allowed to specifically tell people to give us Barnstars, then we will have to write something very clever that, while telling people they don’t have to give us Barnstars, implying that they do. I left John a message, and am waiting to hear back (though I doubt he’ll give in), so some kind of half-way list would be in order.
I quite like the long messages, so don’t feel you’re burdening me, but the signing in random places was a little strange. Also I think if you don’t naturally think of something funny to say, then it is much better to leave a normal message than try to force something funny (something I often do, then regret later).
Okay, that’s all
--ScribbleStick (talk) 19:51, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Gender
Hit the "my preferences" link next to "my talk" at the top of the screen. Then scroll down a bit and you'll see a dropdown box listing "gender", probably currently set at "unspecified." Change that to whichever gender is appropriate, and then hit the "save" button at the bottom of the screen. That should do it. John Carter (talk) 13:46, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- I honestly don't know. I know that it is listed there as effectively telling the system what gender pronouns to use when referring to you, but I don't know that I've ever seen it in use. John Carter (talk) 15:13, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
This title is meant to be vaugely amusing
Hey Sponge (man that’s gonna such a time saver),
Sorry it’s taken me a while to reply (though I guess you’ve been sleeping, so it won’t make any difference). First, if you want to copy my ideas, that’s fine (as you pointed out I’ve done it to your ideas – talking of which I’m sorry if I step too much over the line with this, just let me know if you don’t want me to plagiarise one of your ideas and I’ll try my best to ignore you (just kidding)).
About the list, I was wondering if we just create a subpage (like for Barnstars, just with the list), and we can both have links to it – that way we’ll essentially update each other’s versions of it. Also, I think there is someway to have all the text from one page appear on another (does that make sense?), I don’t know how to do that, but I once did it by accident.
I was also wondering if it would be allowable to send people messages to let them know they are on the Shame List, and provide instructions for how to get off it – not threatening them, more providing them with help to stop being shamed.
Let me know what you think'

Orlady (talk) 08:37, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Um...
Hey Sponge,
Sorry once again for the delay in response, but you’ll probably just have to get used to it. Okay, I guess we’ll just downplay the list – I’ll copy it from your page (if that’s okay (Please note me asking permission to steal your stuff – hopefully a good sign for the future.)) Your deduction was correct by the way, I am from NZ, how about you? My head says somewhere in Europe because we seem to be almost exactly 12 hours apart, but my gut says America (with a slightly unusual sleeping pattern) as you don’t speak like a European. Talk to you soon (maybe),
--ScribbleStick (talk) 23:45, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
P.S. Give me a Barnstar or suffer years of humiliation and spurning due to being on the Shame List. (This is not for real, it’s just an example of the kind of none threatening message I think we should use to tag on the end of other messages).
Okay, I can't think of any more remotely funny titles
Huh, Scotland? That's slightly surprising, but at the same time makes sense.
Given the extensive knowledge of Barnstars you obviously ave, I was wondering if you might be able to help me with my "essay" (which will probably just be thee sentances). If not that's fine - I understand you're a busy guy.
--ScribbleStick (talk) 18:29, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Shame list
I have removed this section from your user page. It is not acceptable to display lists of editors you consider you have a grievance with, and even less acceptable to encourage other editors to send them angry messages. You may have meant it as a joke, but it is not funny.-gadfium 22:15, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
AARRGH!!!
We have a slight problem…a user called Gadfium has removed all references to the Shame List from my userpage – is he allowed to do this (presumably, so that doesn’t help). I’m not sure we’ll be allowed to do this…what do we do????
On a lighter note. thanks for the suggestions, I’ll go incorporate them now. Forgive my utter stupidity, but how do you know so much about the edits and edit summaries I’ve made. Are you secretly spying on me? ScribbleStick (talk 05:58, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
- Oops - I just seen he sent you the same message, but still what do we do??? --ScribbleStick (talk) 06:03, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
I'm tired and will go soon, but it's nice that we're online at the same time
Hey Sponge,
I don’t mind whether you were stalking me, I’m just curious how you can see my edit list (I know how to see mine, but how do you see other people’s?).
I don’t get why my lies and exaggerations page was deleted – it wasn’t really lies (apart from the sea anemone thing).
Oh, well – life goes on…

Something you should read
WP:MYSPACE, you might also want to read the rest of the article. While it's great having new editors that want to contribute to the project, your recent actions and chatting on talk pages make it look like you are not very serious about the project. Doing Headlines is Almost as Bad as Edit Summaries
Hey Sponge – good to heard from you again.
Yes, I to realised that I did this a few days ago – I think my computer logs me out from time to time and I’m not observant enough to notice. Thanks for the reminder though.
I need to get this off my chest, and unfortunately you have been targeted to receive it. I’ve sent John Carter several message and questions (including messages asking him to reply to my message and questions) but he isn’t answering. Do you think he has something against me because of the whole Shame List thing? Does he have something against you too? Is he too busy to answer my silly questions?
Also Congratulations – I saw the banner saying it was your 100th day yesterday (at least where I am it was yesterday). Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the info – I’ll try and use it. I sent the user who gave me a Barnstar (Rkr1991) your way, encouraging him to give you a Barnstar, but whether it’ll work I guess we’ll see.
Your right, JC did reply to my questions – I feel a bit silly for complaining now.
Okay, well I’m going off to replace “passed away” with “died”.
Till next time,

Thanks!
Hey, thanks, I never thought that would actually work, but I guess it did! But your too late, I already got barnstars, but this one is a keeper! And you mean the userboxes I created here. Bugboy52.4 (talk) 22:08, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I, Bugboy52.4, here by award you my own designed (and second used) barnstar for your acts or deeds of kindness (and feels because I feel bad that I gave scribbles a barnstar fro the same thing you did and not you), and it is deserving of an award... spread the wiki-love! - 3:29ish pm, May 20 (UTC−4)________________________________________________________________ |

One more thing... i would appreciate if you give me something other than a barnstar barnstar, i already got that from ScribbleStick :)Rkr1991 (talk) 12:58, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Clan MacIntyre
Thanks so much for the barnstar. The illustration is just fine. It's nice to know somebody is interested. I'm hoping to shepherd it to a "good article" rating once I get an illustration of the Chief's coat of arms. Only problem is people have started changing things in ways that don't make much sense to me. Oh well, we'll see.
Your "No one is talking to me. I will just talk to myself." section is certainly unique. Can you give barnstars for "interesting sense of humor"? Thanks again.--Tomaterols (talk) 00:55, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
OH NO! ANOTHER BARNSTAR!

Hide your children - I'm back
Hey, I haven't been on in a while - and probably will continue this trend, but i thought while I'm here I would pop in and say hi to my WikiPalBuddyGuy - so here it is...
HI.
Feel free to send me messages while I'm not here - I won't answer for ages, but thats not cause I don't like you.
Cheers,

subpage deletion
No problem, it's a surprisingly common housekeeping request, although I have to say that it's unusual to be thanked for a deletion rather than get a torrent of abuse jimfbleak (talk) 05:09, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks
My userpage still had a draft of an article I started working. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!--ProfReader (talk) 18:54, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Comptrollers
I'd propose them for merger by adding the {{merge}} as per Help:Merging and moving pages and then indicating on at least one of the talk pages why you propose the merger, and then add them to the list at Wikipedia:Proposed mergers. If you do that, someone should fairly soon be able to assist with the merger. John Carter (talk) 20:26, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

No worries
I don't mind at all, though I'd just love to be able to put "has gone to join the choir invisible" (Monty Python Dead Parrot sketch). Cheers, Esowteric (talk) 13:46, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
By the rules on your userpage you now have to put me on your no-shame list even though this is really a non-barnstar
