A little something that .....
caught my attention. Celestina007 (talk) 20:39, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Celestina007 - thanks! It's honestly depressing how tainted Wikipedia is these days. I wish there would be an easy way of just completely exterminating all of these spammers. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 20:43, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Spiderone, but sadly it isn't easy. A number of times I spot some spammers but they get free. Idk why. SPIs don't help sometimes. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 21:43, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Global disruption is yet another problem from these spammers. In every ghazal there's a message for that oppressor, We'll speak for it is our work – said my favourite poet Kalim Aajiz. ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 21:46, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- Spiderone, I wish for a day like that would come but per the second law of thermodynamics of entropy implies, things only get worse. @AafiOnMobile, you are apt, I’ve seen spammers go scot free even though evidence that they are spamming or engaging in UPE is overt. Oh well like I said, the second law of thermodynamics of entropy implies things only get worse. It’s frustrating really. Celestina007 (talk) 21:59, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Something went wrong
Hello spider, hope you are doing well. I just started involving in Wikiproject Deletion sorting. When I sorted this Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nikhil Raut under Wikiproject India manually using the template, it didnt showed. Then I installed the script. But something wrong might have happened from my side. Now it is showing twp times in Wikiproject Indias sorting. Can you have a look and tell me what exactly went wrong here as Im totally confused here. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 16:34, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Kashmorwiki: - hi there, it's probably a one-off error from installing the script. It happens to me sometimes. Please note that the script doesn't sort 'Kerala' properly but every other sorting seems to work fine. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 17:09, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
speedy deletion
hey, i don't think a dhar mann article qualifies for g11 in anyway, I'm not affiliated with him in any way, just thought it would be cool to write an article about him because I was surprised there wasn't one already. also, i dont think i expressed any bias there, in fact i think his videos are kind of stupid so not sure what makes that a violation. JameezWiki (talk) 16:10, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- JameezWiki - There is quite clear consensus that he isn't notable enough to be on Wikipedia. As you will see Dhar Mann is currently a protected article and requires admin permission to be created. Same too with Dhar mann. If you really think that he is notable, then ask the admin that closed the last deletion discussion to see if they can restore a draft copy. By the way, the article that you wrote contained a lot of promotional language and there were entire paragraphs full of language that was totally not appropriate for an encyclopaedia. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 16:19, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- Spiderone - my first article, made it in about two seconds without thinking about how encyclopaedic it actually sounded. also, i hadnt even checked the notability guidelines, even though they told me to, I thought "well i mean he has 8 million subscribers, so uh... i dunno" and just wrote it, so yeah, sorry about being an idiot. JameezWiki (talk) 16:31, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

I am sorry for removing that; I did that by mistake. But, I think that the page was removed in 2020 and since then, a lot has changed. She has become the President of the Women's wing of the state unit of the BJP. She is also contesting 2021 WB elections. -Doller Agarwal 15:22, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
Giambattista Bonis nominated for deletion
Hello! I wanted to let you know that I nominated Giambattista Bonis for deletion after you contested my PROD. (No hard feelings about that! You're probably right that it belonged in AfD. In all honesty, I tried PROD first because AfD intimidates me. It was a mistake on my part.) Anyway, I thought you might be interested in participating in the discussion. Aerin17 (talk) 18:09, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker), @Aerin17, why would Spiderone have any hard feelings? They didn’t create the article in the first place so would they feel any type of way? They contested the prod because it did not apply. I’m not sure how or why you feel intimidated by AFD's, infact prodding is the most useless method to delete an article and if you feel an article ought to be deleted then tbh it’s my advice to use the AFD method instead. Celestina007 (talk) 23:52, 10 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks @ Ty Maurin
I was unaware that the article had been PROD'ed before and was not aware of that procedure, so thanks for that. Is there a log of some sort you know of where I can check if it has been PROD'ed before? That would be helpful. Thanks! Jay eyem (talk) 18:09, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
- Jay eyem - there is, yeah. If you click on the article's history and then click "view logs for this page", you can see its previous deletions. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 18:21, 12 April 2021 (UTC)
A little help
A glad day spider. Have a look at Draft:Sol Eisner. The subject passes NFOOTY as per the article. But I am not sure about the reliablity of sources. I am also unable to acces some of them. Since you are from states, your little help would be appreciated to verify this so that I can accept or decline the draft. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 23:27, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
- Kashmorwiki - Good day to you! I'm actually from UK so can't access all of them. I'm quite confident that NFOOTBALL is met and that the sources are reliable enough for the article to be posted, though. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 07:18, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- BlameRuiner has put up the article for a PROD. But I thought the friendlies were official. Regards. Kichu🐘 Need any help? 09:55, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- Kashmorwiki - he's probably correct but I can't see what he's referring to. It might be best to ask him about the nature of the friendly. I went off the 11v11 source and couldn't see any mention of it not being official there. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 10:37, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Kashmorwiki:: this source mentions 1948 friendly vs Israel as unofficial. As far as I can see, this was his only game. --BlameRuiner (talk) 13:54, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Admin notice
In an admin notice in a discussion over an activity that I have apologized for someone has attacked me for events that I was mis-chracterized in 8 years ago and has called for published articles engaging in character assasination against me. This is the level some of those who want to halt deletion of Wikipedia articles are now willing to stoop to.John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:31, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- Johnpacklambert clearly the WP:BURDEN element of WP:V is considered optional by some people. Keep doing what you are doing. I've been up at ANI a ludicrous number of times as well and you're doing well to remain civil, to be honest. I'm sick of people calling us 'deletionists' simply because we are trying to enforce WP:GNG for what it is actually supposed to be. As I've said before, this encyclopaedia, without the likes of us and people like Celestina trying to combat the hoaxes, self-promotion and other LinkedIn junk, would be nothing. An absolute waste of webspace. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 16:10, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- Now they are trying to kill me with an abusrdly low limit of 10 AfD nominations a day. This is just plain absurdly low considering how many slam dunk nominations come in. Especially considering how many slam dunk nominations on cricet players get opposed out of hand.John Pack Lambert (talk) 18:28, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

- you're welcome, sir! Vincentvikram Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 15:34, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- I thought the use of Engineering/Management tags would be relevant to concepts from that field, no? Shouldn't the org coupled with place and domain be sufficient? Vikram Vincent 16:29, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- Vincentvikram - potentially but I don't see the harm in tagging as such when the organisation is dedicated mostly to teaching engineering. We generally tag societies and people working in the field of 'engineering' as 'engineering' so I see no harm in doing the same for engineering colleges. Same with management, in my view. A school dedicated to teaching management would fulfil the criteria for being associated with the topic. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 19:37, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

These databases and press releases are deceptive. A lot of folk tend to think they are RS. I wonder if I should make a list of them cause they pop up in my top ten on a DDG search engine (no, I refuse to use uncle google). VV 16:43, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

AfD
Hey Spiderone. Could you nominate Jocelyn Merlen, Gregory Deswarte, Reginald Becque, and Cedric Jandau on AfD for me? You can see what I spoke about with GiantSnowman on my talk page. Thank you. Paul Vaurie (talk) 16:26, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- Paul Vaurie - I would disagree with taking any of these to AfD as they all meet WP:GNG despite failing WP:NFOOTBALL. GNG is the most important guideline for notability. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 16:36, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, so you believe they all meet GNG? Alright, then I guess we don't have to discuss them. Paul Vaurie (talk) 16:43, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

The Blend Hawke's Bay
As the founder of The Blend Hawke's Bay, and that therefore being the reason I set the article up - so that people can find out about my station more easily - I'm curious as to how I go about citing my own sources? Genuinely curious is all, hence asking, as I want to avoid it being removed.
The fact of the matter is there's no sources I can cite beyond the website and social media pages which I have set up and run myself, I've set it all up while being on a benefit and at this stage it doesn't have much of a following so I figured a wikipedia article may help that somewhat. The original website with the station's origin has been unpublished since my friend, who founded the Baltimore based one rebranded it and a quick Google search shows no third-party articles on it as it's not that well-known. In failing this I may request that an article be set up, which would be pretty difficult as I am the only person with the streaming info, etc... NZConnor (talk) 22:24, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- NZConnor - As per WP:NRADIO internet radio stations, are not presumed notable just for existing, but may have notability conferred on them by meeting WP:CORP standards. Where verifiable, an unlicensed station may be mentioned in the appropriate contexts (such as an article about its parent organization or school, if one exists or can be created), but is not eligible for its own standalone article unless it can be sourced over WP:GNG via reliable source coverage. In other words, the radio station needs to have plenty of significant coverage from reliable sources independent of the radio station. The content must be completely independent of your radio station and cannot, in any way, be from you. For example if a local paper published material that originated from one of your press releases, this would still fail notability. If no such coverage exists, then the article should be deleted. Wikipedia is not a directory. You are also required to declare your conflict of interest formally on your user page. I will send instructions for this. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 22:35, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Sarah-Jane Varley
Please dont delete her off wiki.thanks drew270 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drew270 (talk • contribs) 01:38, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
- Drew270, Spiderone isn't deleting anything off wiki. He didn't even nominate the article for deletion. If anything, he posted the AfD on relevant topical wiki-project listings so anyone with the ability to find sources or knowledge of sources could add those to the article to hopefully produce enough evidence to keep it. Even so, he doesn't arbitrarily decide what is kept or not. It is a consensus of editors, basing their decision on the guideline of notability (WP:N), that decides to keep or delete an article through the AfD process. --ARoseWolf 17:45, 26 April 2021 (UTC)
- Drew270 I've noticed that you haven't participated in the discussion here. You are more than welcome to do so but please make sure to show how this relates to Wikipedia's notability criteria, such as WP:ENT and WP:GNG. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 18:03, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

The never ending ANI
The ANI against me is still there, and now they have gone to proposing a total topic ban. This is getting truly unreasonable.John Pack Lambert (talk) 12:11, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- Johnpacklambert - in any other context and in any other place, there would be a word for this. 'Bullying'. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 12:25, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Johnpacklambert and Spiderone: We haven't always agreed, John, but I keep going to the ANI to see if it is resolved only to find more nonsense written. I've literally watched dozens of editors run down the list of AfD's and vote to either keep or delete with little else for explanation and they almost never face this type of hate and spite being thrown at them. This isn't about protection of the encyclopedia. This isn't about trying to be thorough. This is all about hurt ego's and power hungry individuals who face little to no consequence for keeping this open ended. And, tbh, an explanation isn't always needed on an AfD. What I find most ridiculous about this ANI is that they were actually considering punishing another editor based on some statistic on successful !votes? That's the most insane thing I have ever heard presented. All I have seen as evidence is that you vote delete on a lot of the AfD's, you get testy with other editors sometimes, but I have seen them also initiate with you, and your personal views on Wikipedia (deletion vs inclusion). As I stated, we may not always agree, philosophically, but Wikipedia has never cared about my philosophies so I don't even really consider them when editing here. But if this is all they have then I think the ANI is a huge overreach and definitely bullying. --ARoseWolf 13:07, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- Tsistunagiska - I hate it when people try to use stats at AfD as a reason to exclude an editor. My stats are poor because a lot of my !votes go against popular view - I'll happily and openly admit that. Very often, the discussion will close against what I've said, which is fine because Wikipedia is built on community consensus and ultimately consensus should always win. Consensus can change, though, and it starts often from one user or a small group of users being brave and going against the status quo. When you start punishing or excluding users for that behaviour, this is when I have a problem with the direction of Wikipedia. My other problem at the moment is people battling against GNG. Our core principles are WP:N and WP:V; people really should consider that before they launch an attack against 'deletionists' like me and JPL. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:12, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- I hate the words 'deletionist' and 'inclusionist'. It automatically draws battle lines on a project where there very often is no clear defined line. If there were clearly defined lines then we wouldn't be here discussing this and AfD would be nothing more than a procedural measure to catch the few missed articles that sneak past all the other security measures. I have seen you work on articles and fight to find evidence they belong here on Wikipedia so I wouldn't call you a deletionist by definition anyway. I have fought to keep articles and equally fought to have articles removed. I don't believe we can have a serious discussion until we go back to WP:N and WP:V and shore those up. Get rid of this ridiculous 'presumed' nonsense and not be afraid to put out strict inclusion protocol. Once we do that we can seriously discuss how best to address inclusion. We need a baseline and solid foundation. We need to strictly adhere to GNG and it doesn't need to be a guideline, it needs to be the "law of the land". --ARoseWolf 13:26, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- Tsistunagiska all presumed notability has ever done has led to hundreds of thousands of stubs on barely notable living people, schools, record labels, companies etc. Wikipedia is worse off because of it. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:33, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Our core principles are WP:N and WP:V; people really should consider that before they launch an attack against 'deletionists' like me and JPL. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:12, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- I am not sure we ever had presumed notability on records labels. Schools are probably the worst overall offender. Especially since the past presumption meant people created articles without even trying to dig up adequate sources. The pure volume of biographies dwarfs everything else. Biography discussions have also often been the most acrimonious, because in some cases people take it to be a discussion of weather the person has merit, which is not at all what is being discussed. The broad organization, corporation or product heading probalby takes in the most articles that amount to blatant advertising. Places have their own unique issues, and there are a staggering number of non-notable places that have had alrticles created, something like either 6,000 or 70,000 in Iran alone. Places seem to have been spurred by a very low number of editors, while in other contexts we see single editors make a lot of contributions, but they tend to be very narrowly defined, like people connected to Dedham, Massachusetts, or local level politicians in Louisiana, or minor league hockey players. With places one editor created a huge number of entries related to California, Iran and a few other places.John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:26, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Johnpacklambert: Oh, John, its way worse than that. 'Presumed" notability is in the GNG (
A topic is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list when it has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject
) but they fail to read further."Presumed" means that significant coverage in reliable sources creates an assumption, not a guarantee, that a subject merits its own article. A more in-depth discussion might conclude that the topic actually should not have a stand-alone article—perhaps because it violates what Wikipedia is not, particularly the rule that Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information.
They also fail to read the fine print on multiple sources.Lack of multiple sources suggests that the topic may be more suitable for inclusion in an article on a broader topic. It is common for multiple newspapers or journals to publish the same story, sometimes with minor alterations or different headlines, but one story does not constitute multiple works. Several journals simultaneously publishing different articles does not always constitute multiple works, especially when the authors are relying on the same sources, and merely restating the same information. Similarly, a series of publications by the same author or in the same periodical is normally counted as one source.
If you have multiple publications issuing the same information they are NOT intellectually different. Even if they are reliable sources they should be counted as one source. We need 'presumed' removed completely and need more definition added to 'multiple sources'. --ARoseWolf 14:45, 27 April 2021 (UTC)- And yet what we have is hundreds of articles, if not thousands, sourced only to IMDb which is not even a reliable source. Huge numbers of other articles sourced only to the subject's own website or one blog style database. The last is really a big problem with articles on Catholic bishops.John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:52, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
- I would also like to add that consensus needs to be gathered on the front end of this and the strict policy of not accepting localized consensus to overrule the greater consensus of GNG, or GNP/GNR(whatever they want to call it after it's established policy). All SNG's would be modified to match GNG or go away completely. No more articles on professors simply because they have a profile at a university. No more including a school simply because it exists. No more keeping articles on a player of any sport, regardless of gender orientation, simply because they are on a team roster or have a sports bio. Significant Coverage in Multiple Reliable Secondary Sources will actually mean something. --ARoseWolf 15:04, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

A new SPI that might interest you
Hi Spiderone, I see that you tagged one or more of the André Lucas articles that appeared over the last few hours, on looking through logs I find a blocked user with a similar name so these new creations may be block evasion - SPI opened just in case see here. Best wishes JW 1961 Talk 18:03, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Page move error
Hello there @Spiderone I noticed to made a page move on an article i created earlier. I just wanted to make some corrections I wanted the Chief Mobolaji Ayorinde SAN, FCIARB, OFR to be the main page of all redirected search not the page it is currently linking to as the current page title has no honors attributed to it. Please can you help make this changes. I would be really happy. Mysticmindz (talk) 16:17, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- Mysticmindz, hi there. We don't include these titles in the title of the article. See, for example, Stephen Hawking. We wouldn't call the article "Stephen William Hawking CH CBE FRS FRSA" instead. Same goes for titles such as 'Chief', 'Lord', 'Sir' and 'Dame'. See, for example, Sebastian Coe and Kelly Holmes; we mention the title in the opening sentence of the article but not in the article's title. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 16:24, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

- Mysticmindz you're welcome Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 16:28, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Spiderone early this morning I got a mail that the said biography page you help correct was nominated for deletion and before I could contest it was deleted. The painful part is the claimer @Deb claimed it had ambiguous advert which she didn't state where the advert was. You could recall that you edited the title when I initially added the SAN title and you corrected me that t was against the rules as a first timer: now, Ms. @Deb cannot state what part of the page had such advert content or sent me a suggested edit so I could fix it she just went ahead to delete weeks of hard work for no reason. I am new on wiki but I know when some things are wrong. Please @Spiderone how can I retrieve the page. I am really upset and don't know how to get it back. - This is a misrepresentation. I deleted the article after someone else had nominated it as a G11 - which I agreed with. I warned User:Mysticmindz that it was framed as a CV and thus was inappropriate. Note that a draft still exists in the user's sandbox, to which I've made further improvements. It is false to suggest that the article was ever submitted for review; had it been submitted, it would never have passed review. Deb (talk) 10:32, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- Apologies @Deb I only got the mail alluding to your own tag. I had received several notifications about people and wiki editors making improvements. I am new here didn't know the format I used was a cv format I simply just followed samples of biography I had been seeing on wiki. I am so sorry for wrongly accursing you now I feel sad. I just got so upset that someone could just tag a delete instead of helping me to improve it and give me advice to help me get better as a new editor, I sincerely apologize once again. Please can you help me out with what can be done to get it back and what corrections needs to be enacted upon to make it fit for upload and how can I submit it cos I had the thought that once the page is on watch, It meant its been submitted. I still have the sample in my sandbox cos I wrote it there. Please help me out. Mysticmindz (talk) 10:44, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

I have created a page with the name Syed Muhammad Abubaker and it is deleted.
Hello Wiki! I am a Wikipedia writer and publisher. I am creating a company profile, and its owners' profile. I have published one of the owner's page name " Syed Muhammad Abubaker", and it is deleted. Please guide me, and I think it does not qualify to be deleted as I have wrote as per Wiki guidelines and they have tremendous success in the Amazon and e-commerce related services, so as of my opinion, people should know about them and it should be there on wiki. Looking forward for guidance. Thank You — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swati The Tribe (talk • contribs) 15:16, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
