Objections...
Hi,
You seem to be an experienced user of the site. I need your help with a certain article which is full of crap and without citations History of Kashmir. Please look at the part which talks about Hari Singh... I've written the following in the discussion forum of the article:
1)
- I object to the following lines about Hari Singh
--Amartya ray2001 (talk) 00:44, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
The Maharajah Hari Singh never represented the will of his subjects, creating tension between the Hindu rulers and the Muslim population of Kashmir. Muslims in Kashmir detested him, as they were heavily taxed and had grown tired of his insensitivity to their religious concerns. The Dogra rule (the name of the municipal governments) had excluded Muslims from the civil service and the armed services. Islamic religious ceremonies were taxed. Historically, Muslims were banned from organizing politically, which would only be tolerated beginning in the 1930s. In 1931, in response to a sermon that had tones of opposition to the government, the villages of Jandial, Makila, and Dana were ransacked and destroyed by the Dogra army, with their inhabitants burned alive.
Excuse me! How can you write such things about the former head of a state without any citation? I think and am convinced that this section has been written by an radical person with mere colloquial knowledge about the subject! I this matter needs to be escalated with immediate effect. I shall also remove that part of it! --Amartya ray2001 (talk) 00:44, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
2)
Why not forced conversation of Hindus? --Amartya ray2001 (talk) 00:51, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
I draw the attention of the Mods and Admins to the following article: Persecution of Hindus ... It's a well written article and has has citations in proper places. That passage needs to be re-established. I shall escalated this matter to the Mods immediately but not edit it yet!
--Amartya ray2001 (talk) 00:51, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Someone needs to intervene immediately and rectify those errors! I'll scan through the entire site (whenever I've the time)to try and bring such issues to your...

Hi Spaceman,
i along with few of our fellow Wikipedians (Raptor, Sodabottle & bob1960evens) have worked on improving the National Waterways 4 Article to a great extend. I want to thank you for patiently preventing people from making irrelevant and bogus entries to my wikipedia page. Sincerely Venki Ramakrishnan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.85.79 (talk) 11:01, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for your note. I would strongly encourage you to create an account as it provides several benefits. You can also verify your identity through our WP:OTRS system. As you change IPs quite often, and many of those have stacks of vandalism prior to it (e.g. the IP you used while in Bombay), it is often difficult to identify what is a bogus edit and what's a genuine first person edit. Also, it alerts our editors to the fact that the subject of the article is also active on the page. Another academic with an article (David Eppstein) is also an active Wikipedia editor and as you can see he contributes to his article through talk page postings. Hope you see this! cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 13:22, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi there, I was referring to the title of that reference(which says 60%) which is wrongly added by someone, I didnt verified, When I checked the book it was 42%. Anyways thanks for correcting. KuwarOnline Talk 13:36, 1 September 2010 (UTC)
- No problem, it's just that the IP did what none of us regular editors of the page ever did for at least six months that this misrepresentation of a source was on -- check up on a reference. It always helps to verify the edit in such cases, especially here where of the four edits that the IP made, three of them were definitely clean, so the fourth being bad is unlikely. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 13:40, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello SpacemanSpiff, I believe you deleted a friend's wikipedia page that we started to put together last night. I am not sure why you did this. Her name is Joanne Lee Beck. Please reply with more info. Thank you 24.5.61.111 (talk) 22:50, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Deleting the article about Hristo Stoichkov?
Ummm, pardon me, but aren't Golden Ball winners notable enough to have their own articles? WP:ATHLETE is quite clear on this. Not to mention that he not only played for the national team, but was the manager for some time (not the best of managers, not even a mediocre one, but a manager non the less). He is one of the most famous footballers of the 1990s. Honestly, I thought this was a joke before I found the article really got deleted. I do not see his name on this list. Even a google search would've helped. Or this article. I have the feeling (without having seen it) that the article more than covered the requirements of WP:ATHLETE. Sorry, if my tone is a bit harsh (I don't even like the guy), but this is probably the strangest deletion ever. --Laveol T 14:37, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry about this, this was an error. The article title was on the AfD page and I was using the twinkle script to delete the other pages, this one was on the list and somehow I missed removing it when I did my check. —SpacemanSpiff 16:23, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

- I just took a look, it's still a candidate for a speedy deletion (WP:CSD#A7) I'm afraid. Since it's a web radio, it's covered by that criteria and can get deleted any time if it's moved to mainspace. My suggestion would be for you to search for reliable source references and add them to the article so that it passes either our general notability guideline or our guideline for websites. There's also a wikiproject on radio somewhere here and you may be able to get some help from some of the editors out there. You could try Wikipedia:WikiProject Radio/UK Radio and Wikipedia:WikiProject Radio, I'm afraid I don't know much about the project or radio stations in particular to be of much more help. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 15:52, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Demographics
The content I added to India was highly relevant as it was about demographics.. Don't keep removing it without citing proper reasons.Ahivarn (talk) 16:46, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- Please note that just by citing something it doesn't become valid, the content you keep adding has no relevance in the article. —SpacemanSpiff 16:47, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
what are you talking about? Just citing? Well, it's far better than the biased news links most people give on wikis. The content has certainly relevance because the content there earlier said that Indians were genetically diverse but this is not true. What's more reliable than genetics when it comes to demographics? also, you are a fellow Indian; I think this can be a cause of unity in diversity. It confirms to wiki's Point of neutrality.Ahivarn (talk) 17:04, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

- Yes it is necessary to find if your opinion about the content meriting inclusion in the article is appropriate. Two editors have already expressed a disagreement, so if you wish to add it back, discuss on the article talk page. —SpacemanSpiff 17:53, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

I just feel lazy to find the correct warning templates, so I use twinkle for the tag and auto notify bit, and then delete it, but apparently I forgot to do so in this case. Unless you can tell me there's a setting on Twinkle to notify when you're deleting as opposed to tagging for deletion? I couldn't find any such. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 11:40, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

A quick explanation...
I originally salvaged this article when I came across the speedy deletion request a couple of days back - I simply couldn't see how it wouldn't be notable - and cleaned it up before I noticed there'd been an earlier AFD.
I was a bit ambivalent about going against an earlier AFD once I'd seen that, but it was one with very little participation and no strongly worded positions; the two positions advocating deletion were spammishness and lack of nontrivial coverage, both of which seem addressed now. I ran it past the original closer of the AFD debate, which seemed the best way to get a second set of eyes on it, and they seemed happy.
I'm happy for you to take it to AFD again if you insist, but I'm not sure a speedy deletion based on a vague discussion about an old version of the article is really the best approach. Shimgray | talk | 08:36, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the note, I had salvaged his wife from AfD a while back, but at that time I couldn't find anything about him and it was AfDed when I wasn't aroun, so I didn't notice it. The problem has been that both articles seem to attract some sort of political or business associate spamming and it's been difficult to glean the good from the bad. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 08:43, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- I mainly ran on blind faith to begin with, to be honest, based entirely on his company - founding and continuing to head a quarter-billion dollar firm is the sort of thing that's very hard to do and not get coverage, so I figured it'd be out there somewhere.
- As to the spamming, yeah, I'll keep an eye on it. I think it's probably well-meaning overenthusiasm as much as anything, but either way it's a bit of a hassle. Shimgray | talk | 09:40, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Why have you warned me when I am simply making neutral changes to the article Kundalini Yoga? What is your bias and knee-jerk reaction to this article about? Please clarify for me what is your POV against 3H0 and how this even comes up in this page? I made fair changes and you just deleted them again. I moved the paragraph into the history section. I don't have time to get involved in that particular article. —SpacemanSpiff 11:26, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
should i add the tags back then.it gets removed.LinguisticGeek 11:32, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- That should be fine, chopping off a lot of the content from that article is long overdue, like pretty much most social groups articles out here. —SpacemanSpiff 11:45, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

To SpacemanSpiff,
Hi. You just imagine and let us do atleast some acceptable and legally valid allowed statements even by wikipedia rules and terms. There is nothing wrong in Highlighting "Tamil" in the introduction paras of the article. By the way it is not false statement. No one can prove that it is false and incorrect. In illayaraja I translated the meaning "isaignani" into Tamil and English which is true and correct and no can deny it.
You have to allow us some legitimate and true statements.
Please do understand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Keyan20 (talk • contribs) 14:41, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
File:NammaMetro.jpg
Hi there,
I saw message on my talkpage, about File:NammaMetro.jpg, the author clearly says that he has no problem uploading to wikipedia under creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ licenses, please see the comments of the source link. thanks KuwarOnline Talk 07:37, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- He still needs to change the licensing methodology on the flickr page, it still says all rights reserved. Unless he does that or sends a complete release over email, this isn't viable. I saw the simple "ok" response to your post, but the licensing needs to be changed, that ok can only be interpreted as ok, I'll release it, but he hasn't followed through on that. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:41, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- But he also didnt denied it, other wise I wouldnt uploaded to wiki. KuwarOnline Talk 07:52, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- I've also asked Moonriddengirl to comment on this as she's the copyright guru hereabouts. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:54, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. I can completely understand why you would think you could upload it from that note and you asked your question the right way, but unfortunately his answer isn't usable. :/ We get permissions like that all the time at the Wikimedia Foundation mailing list (WP:OTRS), and we have to send them back to get a more complete answer. Since you've already established contact with this image uploader, can you ask him to either mail us from an address listed at http://www.flickr.com/people/akashb/ (I don't see one at the moment, but he can add any address he wants, and he only has to keep it up until we process his permission; to give permission through e-mail he should use Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries) or change the license tag on that picture or add a comment to the image page that says, "This image is available for modification and reuse under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License"? The e-mail step is the most complicated; if he's willing to modify the license at the image page or leave us another note, that would be the easiest. :)
- I'm sorry for the additional complication, but because this is a legal issue, we're asked to make sure that all terms are very clear. :/ I hope he's willing to take the last step needed, because that's a beautiful picture! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:27, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- I emailed him, lets wait for some time. thanks KuwarOnline Talk 11:39, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

Tamil tag for 'isaignani'
Hi. I do not know why no one letting and promoting true and correct facts. Whats wrong in quoting Tamil and English for 'Isaignani'. Please let us make that article look more informative or you guys update in fullest way possible. Illayaraaja article is totally incomplete with no facts. A guy who doesn't know him cannot read all the informations since nothing is there. Either you guys update it or please please for god sake let someone adding more news with clear reference and legetimate statements there. For example he is the first Asian and the only Indian to have scored a symphony for Royal Philharmonic Orchestra both in London and Budapest. And he is considered as one of Indias most respected and talented musician with no doubts. Why these facts missing there. Try to get facts and update all these missing and really important facts. Atleast let someone who take care in adding these missing all important facts. My goal is to make the article more informative and please dont reply saying wiki has rules against this. I don't know why you requested to delete this page. If there are any Indian writers - why shouldn't they be present on Wiki? You cannot delete anything without knowing the origin. Ila Kumar's books are sold in India and I am not sure how aware you are of Hindi Literature. And the awards are not documented online. She is also a part of Sahitya Academy in india (http://sahitya-akademi.gov.in/sahitya-akademi/literaray-activities/mulakat.jsp) and her poems are in Kavita Kosh as well. He said "I will start an edit war if you make improper edits" and again attacked me personally. I warned him once again, his reply was again very rude and he now seems to be reverting me continuously despite the sources and despite being warned. Shahid • Talk2me 08:29, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Mayoori (actress)
Hello, I added back only the Malayalam films in which MAyoori acted. I didn't add the Hindi movies which should be credited to Mayuri Kango. As you suggested, the alternate spelling "Mayuri" can be kept, even though I never seen that spelling used to describe her in any of the Malayalm or Tamil films she acted. I think it is OK to add the Malayalam movies in which she acted. This information is quite known to me since I watched all these Malayalam movies. Anishviswa (talk) 17:49, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- If you have sources for the movies, feel free to add them in. But don't change the primary spelling, all reliable sources say "Mayuri", not "Mayoori". cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 17:54, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

hello !
I graduated from K K wagh college. So i know its name better than you. Why did you change it back to K K wagh college of engineering on the nashik page of wikipedia? Even the K. K. Wagh College of Engineering needs updation. Verifiable source : Official website of college : http://www.kkwagh.org/
Even the changes you cancelled on sachin tendulkar's page are illogical. Please use the correct information and be a good administrator. I was talking about this change of yours !!! http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nashik&action=historysubmit&diff=385762827&oldid=385753076 As far as sachin tendulkar's birthplace is concerned, you impolitely started debate by using sick words and giving weird explanation like "nonsense, Wikipedia uses the names at the time of incidents". First of all, i condemn your unauthentic way of behavior. We should always adhere to what is now, than what was. If you really think what you have written is correct, then what about Saurav Ganguli's birthplace? What about Rahul Bose? Were they not born in calcutta? What about Anand Amritraj, Mahesh Bhupathi? Were they not born in madras? Examples are plenty. More you get into it, bad it would be for wikipedia. You might have done good work for wikipedia in the past, but from your recent work it is visible that you are more into adrenaline than in seretonin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Amolkots (talk • contribs) 18:37, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi
You know what is going on in the Nair page right? If some editors are having conflict among themselves in the Nadar page, why taking it to the Nair page? Hi,
I really do not know why you are reverting that change there in introduction. Show me a clear proof for all that you claim.
He lives in chennai. Can anyone decline it. Nayagan - is Tamil film - Can anyone say no. And his movie chart includes all notable films after nayagan which all were his own Tamil Productions.
Can anyone say - No to this all. Then for what reason it should be taken out from there.
I am ready to accept if I make any mistake. But since you have the administrator power and other benefits do not mistake me for all legal, legitimate, proper edits what I am doing.
Please for god sake help people like me to make articles look more informative, Especially introduction which all lacking really important messages. Please think big and act big. Example : Titanic (1997). Why its there - "American" epic romance. Dont the world know - it is a american movie. We all here to make the article look more informed so that people who have now knowledge on those, can read and know it.
Today the most common man beleive wiki as the bible of informations. So people like us have to be really informed and make the articles updated all time in the best way and truthful way meeting all wiki policies. I did all meeting to these standards. Please Please Please do understand me.I am not against you. We all one here to work for a good cause.

- Keyan, adding other notable films is fine. But you are adding the unnecessary "Tamil" in front of every film. Do not say others do it, so i do it - WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a valid excuse. Putting "Tamil" in front of all movie titles just gives the impression you are trying too hard to paint them as Tamil (a fact which demonstrates itself for anyone clicking through the links).--Sodabottle (talk) 05:07, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok. Please do accept this change that Tamil film, nayagan. I accept on others beacuse of your serious intervention. Please give me some options to fill there. I am only making to look the article more clear and content. Please guys the introduction is the main part for an article.
- Whats wrong in putting his residence. Is he staying in german. All I add are legitimate, clear, truthful statements that means - no wrong, incorrect, invalid edits. So please give me some option. I deeply deeply deeply request you please please since you have administrator benefit dont crush users like me. In many edits you will agree me.
- Ungal Vettu Pillai 12:41, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- The lede is not a laundry list. And you keep inserting Tamil everywhere. Your edits are clearly bordering on disruptive now, if you are unable to edit effectively, please seek some help at WP:MENTOR. —SpacemanSpiff 05:51, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hello. The things that look as laundry list for you might look more clear, correct edits for others. why not. Please Please since you guys having administrator benefit do not hit at users like me. I am not adding incorrect,invalid,unproper,illegal,non-legitimate statements. I am doing all proper, clean, correct edits. Common man who reads articles will expect the article to look more informed and explained clearly, especially the introduction paras. Since wiki articles are for everyone we also should consider them. We might think it is more but for guys who beleive wiki as bible - it should help them. Please Please Please do not mistake me here. Please understand me my friend.
- I pledge you please do give me some options to fill here. Please
- Don't get frustrated. Spiff is correct here - the lede is only the summary of what is inside the article and is not a laundry list. The introduction paras are not like our typical "composition" we did in school. If you want to help wikipedia, listen to us (we have been around a bit longer and more experienced in editing here). You have to understand what is the difference between Wikipedia and other websites - wikipedia is an encyclopaedia and not a trivia/fan site. Don't trot out the common man argument here. We have standards to maintain here. An actor's hometown is relevant only in his personal life section. And you shouldnt be adding home addresses. Adding those doesn't make the article clear - it makes an article look like a fansite, a laundry list and bad (do you get it now - your actions are making the article worse. why do you think so many experienced Tamil editors are reverting your edits?). Adding "tamil" before every film is not clean or proper. It is borderline disruptive. Here is a suggestion - don't edit well established articles. Take a neglected one - there are a thousand tamil film and actor articles that need to be developed. Developing them is much more helpful than arguing about adding tamil script to Rajinikanth's name and adding Kamalhassan's residence. So here is my advice - take up a small article, develop it slowly. Ask for more experienced editor's opinion (eelamstyles, universal hero, johannes03 all are editors with long Tamil film article editing experience). This way you will learn, what is proper and clean in wikipedia and what is not. If you agree, i will do my best to help you out. --Sodabottle (talk) 13:09, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ungal Vettu Pillai 12:41, 22 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. Ok guys I accept you and give full respect to you guys beacuse of your experience in editing in wiki. One think I want to share. In a bottle there is half water filled. I am seeing the remaining to be filled and you guys see it is already filled with some inside. So there is always a two-way observation for issues. Any way I respect you and want to tell you one more thing, if there are some issues really important to be filled I will be always there to do it and it is the right I have as a wiki user. Like I beleive putting Tamil film 'Nayagan' is a must & it should be there. wait for a moment. And I accept and if you really feel 'residence entry' - to be deleted, do it. Similarly if you feel those other notable Tamil films list - to be deleted, do it as per your wish. I purely respect you for your advice on me. Hi, please look at the recent edits made to the article. User:Irany removed the maintenance templates without making any sufficient changes to the article. You had earlier blocked him for doing the same. Thanks. Finemann (talk) 13:37, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Looks like he might need blocking again, I reverted him and left him a template and he has just reverted again, he is just not listening. The article is also awful and I almost stubbed it back. Off2riorob (talk) 15:01, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'll handle this now, but feel free to edit the article. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 04:49, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I have rewritten the whole article and removed the maintenance tags. Please do see it. Finemann (talk) 16:29, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- I haven't taken a look at the refs individually, but they look reliable and the content appears good and sources, so good job. I think rob's got it on his watchlist now, so he'll probably take a look whenever there's any trouble. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 17:40, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I saw the very good work to improve that article, impressive indeed. I have it on my watchlist and will keep my eye on it, but I think the IP will be happy with the improvements. Off2riorob (talk) 17:44, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Apparently, User:Irany doesn't seem very pleased and have been vandalizing the article again. — Finemann (talk) 16:41, 24 September 2010 (UTC).
- Sigh, I saw that rob's warned the editor, if they repeat, a block will be in order. —SpacemanSpiff 07:46, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
New entry on Wikipedia
Spaceman I have created a new section on my Wikipedia (Edward Maurice Ingram) page which I want to make public (if it is not already). I understand it will have to comply with the suitability guidelines. You were very helpful with the page I put up on Leonard Shoobridge. Awaiting further information from you.
Thanks

- Sorry, I don't have much onwiki time now to help on this. You could try User:Drmies who may be able to help you. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:46, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Buddy :) I placed tags {{Onesource}} in Nidhi Buley though the player is known, but it seems to be not notable, as not covered by various authentic independent sources. Here in this case its only covered by cricinfo. The clarification you stated is "rm drive by one source tag, there are two sources, all content is referenced". Same is case with Minoti Desai, Bindeshwari Goyal i placed {{refimprove}} tag as i felt some more references should be incorportaed. Here you stated "rm drive by refimprove tag, all content is referenced". I just want to have clarification on this that what exactly "all content is referenced" means. How can we define if all content of artricle are referenced.. Please assist & guide me in understanding the concepts. ( Abu Torsam 06:34, 23 September 2010 (UTC))
- One source is to be added where there's only one source, that article has two sources - Cricinfo and CricketArchive. As for the more refs tags, they should be added if there are any statements in the article that need referencing, doesn't apply in this case as everything is referenced to the two sources. As far as notability, they pass WP:ATHLETE/WP:CRIN. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:46, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

ToI
Hey, wiki nOOb & journalist from Mumbai here. I'm writing to you because I'm looking to feature interesting Wikipedia contributors for a story I'm working on. I recently attended the Wiki Mumbai meet and was very fascinated with the community. Did some research, saw your contributions page and liked it.
It'd be great if I could profile you in my story. Can I send you a few questions?
Can you place a talkback on my page or email me at mahafreed[at]gmail[dot]com

- I don't have much onwiki time these days, so I will be slow in responding. However, I also do not edit under my real life identity which may not suit your purposes. There are some other editors like User:Shyamsunder, User:Sundar, User:SBC-YPR who may be better candidates for your story as they don't necessarily edit anonymously. You can also post your question at WT:INB which is the India project notice board. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:46, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Aight. Thanks. If there's anything you think I must mention in the story do let me know. Would love to get pointers/insights from you.

automated scripts
I just became an admin in Ta. wiki and am doing some image tagging work there. Is there a script to speedup the tagging work (twinkle?).--Sodabottle (talk) 06:54, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- Tagging for deletion? Twinkle does that. Look at WP:User scripts too. I don't know if any of these are portable to other wikis though. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:46, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks spiff, will check out the userscripts.--Sodabottle (talk) 19:28, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Question
Regarding the Samantha Spiegel Wikipedia page, I AM Samantha Spiegel and was in the middle of working on putting in credits and sources. As far as I'm concerned, nothing was defamatory towards myself or my ex-fiancé. Could you please elaborate so I understand better? But it was taken down immediately before I could source or credit anything.
Many thanks, Samantha Alix Spiegel (talk) 06:03, 26 September 2010 (UTC)Samantha

There is a well known story that the last Perumal who ruled Kerala divided his kingdom between his nephews and his sons. This story is generally accepted as likely, although the reason for such a division is not clear. Although more research is warranted in this area, please edit the article in a manner which is acceptable for the people of Kerala. It is impolite and politically incorrect to question the origin of Kerala dynasties, in a manner which is not recognised by the Cochin State Manual, Travancore State Manual and the Kerala government's official stands. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cosmic Engine (talk • contribs) 02:57, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
