License tagging for File:Francesco Yates.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Francesco Yates.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:05, 20 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Francesco Yates.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 05:26, 21 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. File permission problem with File:Fettywap.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Fettywap.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 21:08, 8 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Fettywap.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 92.237.211.110 (talk) 21:25, 11 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Revenant

Regarding The Revenant (2015 film), File:The Revenant Poster.jpg is a copyrighted image, so it cannot be considered free. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited For a Better Day, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page EDM. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

[edit]

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

Welcome to Wikipedia Asian Month!

[edit]

Hi there! Wikipedia Asian Month is about to start. Here is some information about participating in the event:

  1. Please submit your articles via this tool. Click 'log in' at the top-right and OAuth will take care the rest. You can also change the interface language at the top-right.

  3. Participants who achieve 4 accepted articles will receive a Wikipedia Asian Month postcard. You will receive another special postcard if you achieve 15 accepted articles. The Wikipedian with the highest number of accepted articles on the English Wikipedia will be honored as a "Wikipedia Asian Ambassador", and will receive a signed certificate and additional postcard.
  4. If you have any problems accessing or using the tool, you can submit your articles at this page next to your username.

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please do not add unsourced budgets, as you did here and here. If you're getting your information from the IMDb, please be aware that it is not a reliable source. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 18:19, 5 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize pages by deliberately introducing incorrect information, as you did at Indian Institutes of Management, you may be blocked from editing. Muhandes (talk) 11:28, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for persistently adding unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Udta Punjab. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:44, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The net result of these 6 edits, where you appear to be having trouble formatting a template ({{INRConvert}}) that we no longer use in the infobox, and where you change the gross value from 996.7 million to 1000 million (which most people would call 1 billion) despite the existing reference no longer working, and despite no new addition of references, is disruptive. You have been asked numerous times not to submit or change content without providing references. Once your block expires, if you continue this behavior, the blocks will quickly get much longer. You're not helping the project by adding unsourced data. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:47, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

[edit]

Hello, SlimShady1017. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Looking through some of your recent edits, I'm concerned about a number of things:

You keep adding unsourced content despite your previous block: [1][2]

Per WP:BLPPRIVACY, you must provide a reference for a living person's birthdate, lest we run the risk of violating their privacy. Identity theft is a serious issue and we don't want to facilitate that. Here you add an unsourced birthdate for Pankaj Tripathi.

Here you change a time related to Rey Mysterio, but didn't explain the change, nor did you note that the reference URL was dead. So where did you get the information? Moot point, as I found an archive and updated the URL, but pulling figures out of thin air isn't helpful, and a lack of edit summary isn't helpful.

Original research in the form of personal commentary: [3]

Don't even know what to make of this: [4][5][6][7] Vandalism? Tests? If they were tests, you didn't bother fixing the result. Someone had to come by 10 hours later to fix whatever it was you were doing and remove the image of Prince from the article on Francesco Yates. Please use the page preview feature before saving changes to articles to see if your changes worked. If for some reason the only way to test is to save the changes, (which in my vast experience is almost never the case) then change back the test. But again, test edits should be RARE. Like less than 0.1% rare. You can always use your User:SlimShady1017/sandbox to make test edits.

More test edits: [8][9]

"The book of the track appears in the 2009 comedy film Hangover 2"[10] - What does that even mean? That in the contemporary film Hangover 2 you spotted among the many thousand props in the film a liner from this contemporary Kanye West song? How does that improve our academic understanding of the song?

When your block expires, I need you to please start being diligent about adding references, using edit summaries, using the edit preview feature, and avoiding test edits in articles. Though I'm sure you do not deliberately intend to be disruptive, the result of many of these edits is disruptive, since other editors have to double-check your work and revert problematic changes. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:28, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I din't even know of the edit about Prince's photo until you notified me.Perhaps my account is hacked or something.Neither did I add the birthday of pankaj Tripathi.I will ask for a reverted password right away.As for the case of unsourced edits are concerned,I know a lot of genuine details about some persons.Do I have to provide references for that too?Like the time on Rey Mysterio for e.g.,You can contradict that if you want but please lift the ban on my account ASAP.Thanks

Decline reason:

No, you can't just claim your account was hacked in order to deny the problematic edits you made, and then when that doesn't work try to claim "technical issues" and expect us to ignore the edits you were blocked for. I can see several possibilities here:

1) Your account was hacked and you did not make those edits, in which case the account can not be unblocked.

2) Your account was not hacked and you did make those edits, in which case you were lying about the hacking and should not expect us to trust you any time soon.

3) There really were some mysterious "technical issues" that allowed edits to be made from this account, though not by you and not by somebody else! If you want to have any chance of this last fanciful claim to be taken seriously, you'll need to explain the exact nature of the "technical issues".

In case you hadn't worked it out, now is the time for you to tell the truth. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 10:57, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Quit trying to outsmart us, because experienced admins have heard all the lame excuses in the world and we can see through them with ease. After multiple dishonest requests, you are now claiming again that this account was compromised. If that is true, it means it can never be unblocked, so there is no point in your wasting our time with any further unblock requests. I have, therefore, disabled your ability to edit this talk page. Should you some day decide that this latest explanation is also untrue and that you finally want to tell the truth, you can make an appeal via WP:UTRS, but I'd suggest you wait for at least the six month WP:OFFER period as suggested by Spaceman. Oh, and your block is not for 15 days, it is indefinite. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:33, 13 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Asian Month 2017: Invitation to Participate

[edit]

Hello! Last year, you signed up to participate in Wikipedia Asian Month (WAM) 2016 on the English Wikipedia. The event was an international success, with hundreds of editors creating thousands of articles on Asian topics across dozens of different language versions of Wikipedia.

I'd like to invite you to join us for Wikipedia Asian Month 2017, which once again lasts through the month of November. The goal is for users to create new articles on Asian-related content, each at least 3,000 bytes and 300 words in length. Editors who create at least four articles will receive a Wikipedia Asian Month postcard!

Also be sure to check out the Wikipedia Asian Art Month affiliate event - creating articles on Asian art topics can get you a Metropolitan Museum of Art postcard!

If you're interested, please sign up here for the English Wikipedia. If you are interested in also working on other language editions of Wikipedia, please visit the meta page to see other participating projects. If you have any questions, please visit our talk page.

Thank you!
