Preity Zinta FA

Hi there. The Preity Zinta article has recently achieved A-class status. Due to the wealth of support I have decided to now nominate for an FA class article which I believe and judging by the comments of others is pretty much up to. In my view it is better than some existing FA actor articles. I would therefore be very grateful if you could give it a final review in your own time and leave your comments and views at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Preity Zinta. Thankyou, your comments are always valuable. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:57, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Recent CSD request

I hope you don't mind, but to avoid argument with the person who created the Nahhas pharmacies article, I have changed the CSD template to 'no information'.Lunchscale 07:57, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

My recent RfA

Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Although the voting ended at 36/22/5, there was no consensus to promote, and the RfA was unsuccessful. I would like the thank you nonetheless for supporting me during the RfA, and hope that any future RfA’s proceed better than this one did. Again, I thank you for your support. ≈ The Haunted Angel Review Me! 02:10, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your support

Naming of articles about football seasons

Hi Siva1979! Over the past few months, you have moved hundreds of articles about football seasons from the year/year format (e.g. 2006/2007) to the year-ar format (e.g. 2006-07). I haven't been able to find any naming convention or guideline or any prior discussion that would warrant such a massive number of moves. Where has this been discussed? AecisBrievenbus 09:49, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Note: I have also sought the input of the WikiProject Football on this matter, at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Football season naming convention. AecisBrievenbus 09:49, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your very quick response. I agree with your intention to standardize the naming of articles about football seasons. But there are so many articles involved with this standardization (you've already moved hundreds of articles, and there are probably hundreds of articles left to move), that I feel that it's vital to talk this through with everyone involved. In this case that would be the WikiProject Football. Your response and a reply to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Football season naming convention give me the impression that no such discussion has taken place, that there is no consensus either way yet. AecisBrievenbus 12:13, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Hello

Hello Siva1979, many thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Davydoff (talkcontribs) 10:35, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Re:An admin?

For the good of this website, I have to decline your nomination offer with a tint of regret. Sure, the opportunity to contribute even more to this site and to assist Sg-related issues is a very tantalising one, but I believe now is not the right time, if it ever comes, due primarily to my current frame-of-mind and objectives here. Perhaps 10 years down the road I may be a more toned-down individual, but I don't know.

Anyway, to be honest I am a tad surprised this came from you, for I remember you were greatly inconvenienced each time I was blocked! I suppose I gathered some unexpected "on-screen presence" due to that!--Huaiwei 15:05, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Editing talk comments

Hi. Re: this edit, see Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines#Editing comments, specifically "there is no need to correct typing errors, grammar, etc.". Thanks :) --Quiddity 17:35, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Pointless talk page comment

What exactly is the point of [1]? Are you suggesting that there ought to be a discussion about whether it is appropriate to archive a talk page? Archive it or do not archive it, read Wikipedia:Article size if you must, but initiating sections to discuss it is an idiotic waste of time. —Centrxtalk • 19:29, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello! I hope you are feeling fine. With regards to your concern, why do you think that this is a waste of time? I feel that it is only appropriate to discuss about this before archiving the page. I do not wish to do anything stupid without any prior discussion. Or are you suggesting that I should be bold about this? Please reply in my talkpage. Thanks. --Siva1979Talk to me 05:09, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

A talk page either warrants archiving or not, depending on how long it is and how recent the discussions on it are. As long as you don't archive current discussions or recent comments, there is no harm in archiving the page. Of course, if you archive too frequently or archive short talk pages, it would be a waste of time and, for example, talk comments on rarely visited articles with short talk pages should not be archived, but there is nothing on which to base a discussion about it on every talk page to be archived. —Centrxtalk • 05:55, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you to everyone who participated in my Request for adminship, which was successful at 50/5/0 on November 5th, 2007.
It became, as you may know, rather contentious toward the end (though fortunately no gunpowder was involved), and I appreciate the work of other Wikipedians to keep it focused. --Thespian 02:16, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Another RfA Spaming

OhanaUnited's RfA

Wallowing in my RfA: This time it's personal...
My sincere thanks for your support in my request for adminship, which ended with 51 supports, 0 opposes, and 0 neutral. Doubtless it was an error to put one of the government-bred race of pigmen in any position of authority, but I hope your confidence in me proves justified. Even a man pure of heart and who says his prayers at night can become a were-boar when the moon is full and sweet. Fortunately, I'm neither a were-pig nor pure of heart so this doesn't appear to be an imminent danger to Wikipedia for the moment. Fortunate as well because were-pig hooves are hell on keyboards and none too dexterous with computer mice. If ever I should offend, act uncivil, misstep, overstep, annoy, violate policy, or attempt to topple the fascist leadership of Wikipedia, please let me know so I can improve my behaviour and/or my aim. I am not an animal; I am an admin. And, of course, if there is any way in which I can help you on Wikipedia, please do not hesitate to ask me. Despite my japes, I am indeed dedicated to protecting and serving Wikipedia to the best of my foppish and impudent abilities. I will strive to be an admirable admin, shiny and cool, reasonable and beatific. Pigmanwhat?/trail 05:14, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Post Scriptum: I believe my collaged graphic at left, which incorporates the WP globe and mop image, falls under the rubric of parody for my purposes here. Or is it satire? Regardless, it's a legitimate and legally protected First Amendment usage under US law. Complaints and allegations that this is an improper "fair use" image will be entertained on my talk page, probably with fruit juice, finger food and exotic coffees.

Some more thankyou spam

Thankyou for supporting my successful rfa which closed with 58 supports. If i am honest i am rather humbled by the unanimous support and i hope to live up to everyones expectations. If you ever need any help, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again. Woodym555 13:40, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

I never thanked you for participating in my RfA a couple of weeks ago. Thank you for your support, though unfortunately the request was closed as "no consensus". I plan to run again at a later time, and I hope you will support me again then.

Thanks again! —Remember the dot (talk) 06:37, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

RfA for Canadian Paul

Four years ago this day, a foreigner was voted by the community to serve a land that he loved. Today, a new foreigner humbly accepts the charge and support of serving a community that he loves. Hopefully, he won't disappoint.

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a vote of (47/0/1). The trust bestowed upon me by the community is one of the most touching honours that I have ever received, and I vow not to let you down. Whether you have suggestions for ways in which I could improve, a request for assistance or just need someone to listen, my talk page and my email are always open. I pledge to do what I can to help this project, in the words of a man who needs no introduction, "make the internet not suck." A special thank you goes out to Tim Vickers for nominating me. Cheers, CP 22:51, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for supporting me in my recent RFA nomination. Unfortunately, I have withdrawn the nom early at 17/13/3. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Bracknelltownfc.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Bracknelltownfc.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:15, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your confidence

One of my favorite places Dear Siva,

Thank you for supporting in my recent RfA. Words nor pictures can express my heartfelt appreciation at the confidence the community has shown me. I am both heartened and humbled by this confidence. I will carry the lessons learned from the constructive criticism I have received with me as I edit Wikipedia, and heed those lessons. Special thanks to Pedro and Henrik as nominators. Special thanks to Rudget who wanted to. A very special thanks to Moonriddengirl for her eloquence.

Cheers, Dlohcierekim 22:30, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
