Essays
[edit]Hi Sharkface. There is no set namespace for essays, however, they are generally either placed in the Wikipedia: namespace, or as a subpage of your user space (i.e. User:Sharkface217/Essay name). When you create the essay page, make sure to add {{essay}} to the top of the page, to ensure that visitors know that it is an essay, and also categorises it into Category:Wikipedia essays so the essay can then be found easily and referred to in the future. Take care, Sebi [talk] 06:05, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Committee for National Security
[edit]Committee for National Security, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Committee for National Security satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Committee for National Security and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Preity Zinta FA
[edit]Hi there. The Preity Zinta article has recently achieved A-class status. Due to the wealth of support I have decided to now nominate for an FA class article which I believe and judging by the comments of others is pretty much up to. In my view it is better than some existing FA actor articles. I would therefore be very grateful if you could give it a final review in your own time and leave your comments and views at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Preity Zinta. Thankyou, your comments are always valuable. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:57, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit]100 vandal reverts achieved around 2am (UK time) today - only 12 blocked though - have to keep working on that section of the challenge! TicketMan - Talk - contribs 03:35, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you!
[edit]Hey there! Just a note to say thanks very much for your support in my recent RFA, which closed successfully. I'm pleased with the support I received, and will be doing my best to use the tools responsibly and for the benefit of the encyclopedia. Thanks again! Tony Fox (arf!) 06:31, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
RCP Part 2 posted on the Award Center
[edit]You mentioned that there's no time limit, but is there a limit to the number of barnstars you intend to hand out? The first time this was done by Auroranorth, he changed his mind after several people had signed up and limited barnstar distribution to only the first 5 who completed the task while the rest got notes of thanks. --BrokenSphereMsg me 17:03, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying. You may want to make this clear on the Award Center as people may recall what happened earlier and raise the question like I did before they step forward for fear of putting in the work and having things change on them. BrokenSphereMsg me 23:04, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

An Administrator is I!
[edit]Adventurer! The Council has identified a number of strange occurrences (such as "vandals" and "articles for deletion") in the surrounding wilderness. The Council would check it out, but they have important Councily-type things. But never fear: brave adventurers known as "sysops" roam the lands!
Thank you for your support in my quest to become a sysop. Although I am now wielding the keys to my very own Bitchin' Meatcar, I promise to uphold the laws of the land, martini in hand, in a way that would make Saint Sneaky Pete proud. I will do my best to be a Jack of Several Trades (although I may be a Master of Nuns). I promise to Heart Canadia. And I will make it my goal to Make War, Not ... er, Wait, Never Mind.
I am glad to serve my guild, the League of Wikipedians. If I can be of any assistance, or you have any questions, suggestions, or criticisms in the future, please let me know. And if you are at a loss for what any of the above actually means, see this website.
Thanks again.

[edit]Socrates' philosophical ism award |
This special award is hereby bestowed upon Sharkface217 for working hard and diligently adding definition after definition to the glossary of philosophical isms until it was virtually complete. It's been a long time waiting, but it is now one of the most comprehensive collections of isms on the World Wide Web. On behalf of the Wikipedia community, thank you. |

[edit]I've made several changes to the article that get it beyond stub and expand on several aspects of the office. Please review. --BrokenSphereMsg me 08:10, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Wow! How on earth did you get all THAT? WEBURIEDOURSECRETSINTHEGARDENwe need to talk.• 15:53, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- I looked at President of the United States for some ideas and added some of the aspects of that like the term and qualifications. Getting ahold of the 1960 constitution was also very helpful. The book sources came from Google Books. The web sources came up sort of hit and miss with Yahoo and Google. If you went to a library you might be able to find more on it. --BrokenSphereMsg me 17:30, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit]For the AfD barnstar, though I hardly deserve it. I've only used AfD occasionally over the two years I've been on the site. But it's much appreciated. Thank you. --BlackJack | talk page 11:03, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Reevaluation
[edit]I notice that you oppposed the featued image candidate IJM suicide on the grounds that the blurry thing in the forground was distracting, however Fir0002 has removed the blurring think and reuploaded the image. Would you consider taking another look at the FPC candidate page and reevaluating the image? TomStar81 (Talk) 23:18, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

RCP challenge
[edit]I've issued 100+ warnings starting on the 20th. Also got 20+ vandals blocked. They'd be harder to track, so I can supply names/IPs and dates for verification. --BrokenSphereMsg me 03:17, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks again. You don't want to look up all the blocked folks in the block log? :p --BrokenSphereMsg me 04:16, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
It's not easy work, nor does it end. Yesterday I noticed a young man who was vandal fighting all day (I had to go in to work and he was on in the morning and at night, and he's 2 hours ahead of me) named NickMartin. If you look at his contribs it's practically all vandal fighting at this point. You might want to look him up. --BrokenSphereMsg me 04:22, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
That somewhat explains why I do alternate doing it along with article writing and maintenance. It can get taxing. BrokenSphereMsg me 04:31, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Westerndigitalexternalhdcomparedtoblueberrybag.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Image-Westerndigitalexternalhdcomparedtoblueberrybag.JPG. The copy called Image:Image-Westerndigitalexternalhdcomparedtoblueberrybag.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.
This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot (talk) 08:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Recent Changes or Twinkle?
[edit]Do I necessarily have to use Recent Changes? I've always used TW for my anti-vandalism duties. and besides, it's still cleaning up vandalism either way you look at it.... Two One Six Five Five (talk) 17:01, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your participation in my RfA, and your thoughtful comments. I definitely paid close attention to everything that was said in the debate, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. For now though, especially because of the holidays and all the off-wiki distractions, I am going to take it slowly -- I'm working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school, double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. I sincerely doubt you'll see anything controversial coming from my new access level. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, though I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are a few more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status. If you do ever have any concerns about my activities as an administrator, I encourage you to let me know. My door is always open. Have a good New Year, --Elonka 21:32, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I noticed you voted for Edinburgh Zoo to be the next ACID article. Thanks for your vote, and I was wondering if you could take a while to look over the Zoo's article, to see if you can add/correct information, or generally improve on the article? Any help you can offer would be great, as I'm currently pushing for Good Article status! Thanks again :) — Jack · talk · 03:15, Thursday, 3 January 2008
