Help please.
Hi. I am Jivesh. I edit strictly Beyonce-related articles on Wikipedia. I was wondering if you could do a copy-edit of 1+1 (song) for me? Please reply on my talk-page. Waiting in anticipation. Jivesh • Talk2Me 10:07, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry, I'm afraid I'm just too busy these days. Good luck! Scartol • Tok 23:06, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
- Okay. It does not matter. I understand but can you suggest me someone please? It is urgent. It is actually a GAN and the reviewer has asked for a copy-edit. Jivesh • Talk2Me 04:15, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
- I suspect you found me through the list of GOCE members, so I can only suggest that you contact someone else on that list. Good luck. Scartol • Tok 22:59, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yes. Nikki gave me that list. I chose you because of what you wrote about yourself. Thanks. Jivesh • Talk2Me 04:36, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Interview with Wikimedia Foundation
Hi Eric. I hope you are well. My name is Matthew and I'm working on the 2011 fundraiser for the Wikimedia Foundation. In past years, we've relied pretty heavily on the Jimmy Wales banners to raise money. While they've been successful, we know he alone doesn't represent the broad range of people who make the Wikipedia projects so important and this year we're pushing hard to include more of the community. We'd love to hear your thoughts on Wikipedia if you're interested. Please let me know by emailing mroth@wikimedia.org. FYI, you were recommended to me by Figureskatingfan, who said you were a big influence and great resource. Best wishes, Matthew (WMF) 23:03, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- I'm quite honored to be recommended by such a diligent and hard-working editor. An email is on the way. Scartol • Tok 20:19, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Uploading media
I need to ask a question about uploading media. I want to scan and upload a number of pictures found in an autobiography that I am reading, most of which are between 10-30 years old. Some of the pictures are included with clear attributions of the pictures' copyright ownership (i.e. STR/AFP/Getty Images), and are clearly not free-use, but many pictures are included without attribution. I can't find a page in the book that discusses the pictures' ownership in more detail.
Is there a clear rule for how to interpret the applicable copyright ownership of non-attributed pictures found in nonfiction books? Can I assume that non-attributed pictures are in the public domain? Should I contact the publisher, and ask them directly? What is the common precedent on Wikipedia for making interpretations of ownership for unsourced print images?Ferox Seneca (talk) 03:09, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- The short answer is: If they're less than 70 years old, the images are probably not in the public domain. The medium-length answer is: Unless you can prove that they are in the public domain, assume they're covered by copyright. These tags can help you figure out what is and is not acceptable for labeling PD works. You should also read this page. Good luck! Scartol • Tok 16:05, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Need peer review on language learning through literature
I've written an article about Literature Circles in EFL 'English as a Foreign Language', teacher accompanied classroom discussion groups among EFL learners, who regularly get together in class to speak about and share their ideas, and comment on others' interpretations about the previously determined section of a graded reader in English. I'm wondering if you would have time to peer-review.

Thanks! No need to rush...--Tomobe03 (talk) 17:53, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the copyedit and the comments left on the talk page. I already addressed some of those and I'll tackle the rest (proposed section mergers and date format) shortly.--Tomobe03 (talk) 20:50, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
Your good faith reformatting of Jane Eyre....
removed virtually all content from the article. You're obviously a very skilled editor. Please try again.--WickerGuy (talk) 16:55, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
- I believe you mean my moronic boneheaded reformatting! I thought I was editing my drawing board! Wow, I feel like such an idiot. Thank you for quickly reverting! Scartol • Tok 17:38, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
N'aww
Dearest Scartol, I hear you've been talkin' 'bout me. Too kind, too kind. I'm not sure if they want nearly-semi-almost retired editors to talk about how aw3some Wiki is, but I'll likely give it a go. So if my goofy face ends up on the Foundation's website, I'll have your vote of confidence to thank! :) María (habla conmigo) 12:46, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm horrified at the idea of them using my hideous physiognomy to raise money. If anything, that will drive users away. But he wanted names and I was sick of being waterboarded. So.. yeah, you're welcome. 8) Scartol • Tok 14:08, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- I had the same waterboarding session! And I suppose that I'm to blame for Maria being contacted, because I was the one who recommended dear Scartol. I take the credit gladly! The idea that they'd use my image scares me as well, but at least they'd go out of their normal demographic and focus on the old-ladies-who-edit-WP demographic. If only 15% of editors are women, that demographic is probably about 2%, I'd imagine. I don't know about you guys, but the interview with Matthew was actually enjoyable. It was one of the few times in my life that I wasn't greeted with awkward silence when I try and talk about being a content editor on WP. BTW, Scar, I love it that you're editing Jane Eyre, my favorite novel too. Good on ya, mate! ;) Christine (talk) 14:41, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, it's not my favorite novel, but right now the entire theme section is original research. I'm hitting the library tonight. (I think I said it before, but if not — thanks for the recommendation, Christine! I'm honored.) Scartol • Tok 14:52, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

I haven't had the interview yet, I only just confirmed that I wouldn't mind doing it. I've been relatively quiet on the Wiki front for months, so I fear all of my pearls of wisdom will be past tense and outdated. Oh, but I can remissness about the good old days! Speaking of, I recently filled out a Women in Wiki survey in which I got to rehash when a sockpuppet vandalized my userpage to call me something that rhymes with "spic bunt". I am so obviously prime survey material.
And srsly, Jane Eyre? You brave man. María (habla conmigo) 15:22, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, well, I kinda thought it would be like doing a Balzac novel article. But daaaaaaaaaang there's been a lot of stuff written about that book! Hopefully I'll find some evidence to support my theory that she ripped off Louis Lambert. Scartol • Tok 16:35, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
