I, Robot GAN

Thanks for the heads up. Since the article was not listed at WP:GAN, I just merged my comments with The JPS's on the talk page and deleted the sub page. Hopefully the article is improved further before nominating again. Thanks again, and welcome to WP:FILM! --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 08:08, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

How to report a user?

Hey Kollision,

I want to know how one reports a WP user. I think that 96.246.232.202 should report Mertens21 for the attack on him/her. Looking at Mertens' history, he's attacked many people over the years, most of the attacks extremely offensive and profane. I'm just wondering. Thank you. 71.249.255.91 (talk) 13:25, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Could I see some examples of the "many" attacks that I've made? I'm aware of two, possibly three, that I've made in the three years I've been editing here so I'm just curious. And I wouldn't consider any of them "extremely offensive and profane". Profane maybe. But three "profane attacks" in three years is hardly enough to ban someone. So I'd like to see a few examples if I could. Thanks.  Anonymous  Talk  Contribs 17:13, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Brand New GA Sweeps: On Hold

I have reviewed Brand New for GA Sweeps to determine if it still qualifies as a Good Article. In reviewing the article I have found several issues, which I have detailed here. Since you are a main contributor of the article (determined based on this tool), I figured you would be interested in contributing to further improve the article. Please comment there to help the article maintain its GA status. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! Proposed deletion of South Park title sequence

The article South Park title sequence has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable - no third party sourcing

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- The Red Pen of Doom 15:52, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

Starship Troopers 3: Marauder edits

Thanks for the cleanup -- the page definitely needed it! That said, I read through the MOSFILM info, and I wonder if this might not be a case where an "occasional exception" is warranted for the user ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. The near complete lack of critical response (only 5 ratings total, and at that having a 3-2 split on "freshness"), as compared to the user ratings (85, with a split of 60-25, albeit in the opposite of the critics' stance) seems to restrict the informative nature of the statistics. The way it was before could have used some work, sure -- but throwing it out seems to me to eliminate the value gained in knowing that the general public disliked the film.

In any case, I understand the reasoning behind the MOS's guideline -- vote-stacking and outright idiotic reasons for a vote on Rotten Tomatoes definitely do exist -- I just think this might be a case where enforcing the letter of the guideline defeats the overall spirit of it.

Thanks again! JasonDUIUC (talk) 15:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

I think the reasons stated on MOSFILM justify not using user ratings on any article, ever. In my opinion, the Reception section in the Starship Troopers 3: Marauder is fine the way it currently is. Although it only has 29% from the Rotten Tomatoes community, that is only from 93 votes. On IMDb, it has a 4.7/10 from 7,203 votes. So I'd say, since IMDb has the far larger sample, that it closer reflect the general public's consensus. 4.7/10 on IMDb, 60% from Rotten Tomatoes critics - to me that is close enough to say both critics and the general public have mixed feelings about the film and not need any special mention that the general public disliked the film. The quotes from the critics are well selected and will also reinforce to readers the notion that the critics also think that the film by no means can be considered "good" but might still be worth a watch. One thing you could do is add that on Rotten Tomatoes the average rating from critics is 5.5/10.
Other things that could be done to improve the section. The film has a budget of $20 million. I doubt that they made all of that money back so it would be good to find out how much it has made and add that to the article. Also when talking about ratings from critics, instead of saying "so and so gave the film a rotten rating", read the reviews again to determine their overall opinion then change it to "gave the film a positive/negative/mixed review". Rotten/Fresh is a Rotten Tomatoes thing and the critics did not technically give a Rotten/Fresh rating. Also for one of the reviews "B minus" should be changed to "B-". Be careful not to change the meanings of what people say. - kollision (talk) 04:38, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

New Moon (2009 film) and Eclipse (2010 film)

Both these two articles were recently submitted for a name change. I did agree with this name change in February, however, now I am a strong opposing factor in why the name should ramian New Moon and Eclipse with the signifigant other name in the first line of the articles.
WP:NCCN and WP:PRECISION both state the title should be "terms most commonly used", "A good article title is brief and to the point", "Prefer titles that follow the same pattern as those of other similar articles", "An article can only have one name; however significant alternative names for the topic should be mentioned in the article, usually in the first sentence or paragraph". "And despite earlier reports that the movie would be known as The Twilight Saga's New Moon, the title will remain New Moon according to the movie's rep. They just have Twilight Saga in the artwork to identify it for anyone less devoted than your average fanggirl."Source.
Also see WP:PRECISION. I quote from there: "Articles' titles usually merely indicate the name of the topic. When additional precision is necessary to distinguish an article from other uses of the topic name, over-precision should be avoided. Be precise but only as precise as is needed. For example, it would be inappropriate to name an article "United States Apollo program (1961–1975)" over Apollo program or "Nirvana (Aberdeen, Washington rock band)" over Nirvana (band). Remember that concise titles are generally preferred."
However, I personally do not think we have had enough input and would like input from people who might not like these movies, or just edit them to help wikipedia out. The pages are: Talk:New Moon (2009 film)#Requested move and Talk:Eclipse (2010 film)#Requested move. Any help/input would greatly be apriciated. I am not stressing weather you should oppose/support either of these.ChaosMaster16 (talk) 21:09, 8 December 2009 (UTC)ChaosMaster16

Message asking about my postings

In checking my talk page, there are a couple of requests to stop posting and one is stated to be propaganda. I am unclear as to what exactly is the issue. I've reviewed my postings and they are in a similar vein as other information being posted on other similar subjects. I have references that I am familiar with that I use often and that have been in operation for many years such as IMDB, major newspapers, major film critic websites, etc. I am not affiliated with all of these entities and these entities are also used as references by other Wiki authors in multiple areas. In addition, all of the information I have posted is verifiable. Please advise.Pharaway (talk) 01:07, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Alexander Ludwig

Is there a reason why you consider it to be unreliable, a bad source, and removed it? Harald H. Ludwig, has been listed as the actor's father in other online articles and has also been listed as owner of that Beach House restaurant, not the manager. Is there some form of discrimination against IPs that's lauded here? It's not my fault this thing changes often and others abuse Wikipedia. You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:43, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Renaissance screenshot

Did you have a reason for removing the screenshot from the article about the film Renaissance? Some guy (talk) 22:10, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

I wasn't the one that removed it, an IP editor did. At the same time, I did not restore the screenshot while restoring the poster the IP also deleted. While the poster should clearly stay, the screenshot in a little more grey in terms of the non-free content criteria. I was assuming the IP felt it did not meet the non-free content criteria, so I let the screenshot slide. However, I have nothing against the inclusion of the screenshot. I think there is enough commentary and contextual significance for the image to meet the non-free content criteria, and the image would be useful to readers. I did not removed it the first time, and I will not be removing it in the future. - Kollision (talk) 02:42, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
