License tagging for File:Roger Watson.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Roger Watson.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:06, 24 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Parveen Azam Ali has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hitro talk 16:52, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Parveen Azam Ali requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Domdeparis (talk) 17:25, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Rwatson1955. I have declined the immediate deletion request as citations in Google Scholar suggest that the subject might meet the notability requirements for academics. However, articles about academics at Ali's career stage are often deleted after discussion. To demonstrate notabiity, references to reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and that discuss her, or her work, in detail, are needed. Books, journal articles or national newspapers are ideal sources. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 01:37, 4 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I thank you for not deleting immediately but I am at a loss to know what to do - the verifiable link to her award of recognised Early Career Researcher - one of only three in 2017 - by SIGMA - the first UK nurses and the first Pakistani nurse - has been deleted. Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Professor Roger Watson.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Professor Roger Watson.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 15:46, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:JAN logo for Journal of Advanced Nursing.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:JAN logo for Journal of Advanced Nursing.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Randykitty (talk) 17:54, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Parveen Azam Ali has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:ANYBIO, WP:GNG, and WP:ACADEMIC.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Randykitty (talk) 17:58, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

While I thank you for the stay of execution, I disagree - naturally - that the subject has no achievements - she was inducted as an early career researcher by Sigma - the largest nursing organisation in the world - last year and only one of three people and the first UK nurse, and certainly the first Pakistani. But since the verifiable link to that has been removed - what am I supposed to do? Rwatson1955 (talk) 11:39, 21 March 2018 (UTC)Roger WatsonRwatson1955 (talk) 11:39, 21 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Hugh Patrick McKenna UU.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hugh Patrick McKenna UU.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Ways to improve Royal Scots Club Edinburgh

[edit]

Hello, Rwatson1955,

Thanks for creating Royal Scots Club Edinburgh! I edit here too, under the username Girth Summit and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

We really need this article to be referenced for verifiability. A Google search throws up some coverage in various newspapers - see WP:NCORP, especially WP:CORPDEPTH, for the type of refs that would be good to include.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Girth Summit}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Image source problem with File:The logo of the Royal Scots Club Edinbugh.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:The logo of the Royal Scots Club Edinbugh.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:52, 11 March 2019 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones  (Talk) 03:52, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Pro-tem I have deleted the logo image - which I was under the mistaken impression was OK to use; I will endeavour to replace and/or obtain permission to use one from the club Rwatson1955 (talk) 13:24, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Royal Scots Club Edinburgh.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ronhjones  (Talk) 03:54, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies from Rwatson1955 (talk) 13:20, 12 March 2019 (UTC) I was under the impression that the .jpg was ok to use; I see it has been deleted; I will seek another one and also appropriate permission. Thank you[reply]

British Haiku Society moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, British Haiku Society, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Rwatson1955. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Parveen Azam Ali, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. It is clear you have some sort tit-for-tat agreement with User:Parveenali to edit each other's articles in some superficial attempt to dodge WP:COI. This is not acceptable. Hello, Rwatson1955. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, Draft:David Robert Thompson (academic).

Unspecified source/license for File:Nursing Open Cover.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nursing Open Cover.jpg. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those.

--MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 17:45, 14 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Debra Jackson (nurse), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Caucasian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently been editing COVID-19, broadly construed which has been designated a contentious topic. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon You have recently made edits related to climate change. This is a standard message to inform you that climate change is a designated contentious topic. This message does not imply that there are any issues with your editing. For more information about the contentious topics system, please see Wikipedia:Contentious topics. Ok but if there is 'nothing wrong with my editing' why did I get this message? Rwatson1955 (talk) 22:01, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone who edits contentious topics gets these messages. They are informative to let you know of the stricter application of our regular content and conduct rules. Sideswipe9th (talk) 22:04, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You should not have had that content in your sandbox, you must move text to article space, not cut-and paste, which loses the history.

If you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it. Please don't write about yourself, your friends or relatives and read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • Most of your text was completely unsourced. The refs you did give were his own papers, a wikipedia page, and a page that didn't even mention him, let alone confirm what you have written. We need independent third-party sources.
  • He's clearly notable, but that doesn't been you can just write what you like, text, especially about living people must be verified to independent sources
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • I've seen worse, but throughout you make claims that appear to be your opinions rather tham verifiable facts he became interested, such as He has contributed to an understanding of: the factors that shape personal experiences of illnesses ... He did not restrict his research but expanded it ... and so
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.
  • I didn't check, but a large block of text created in one edit with no wikilinks or proper refs is worrying.

You didn't have a single wikilink, such as Emeritus Professor or University of Kent

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. If you are writing about yourself, or someone you know as a friend, colleague, client, employer or relative, you have a conflict of interest, and you must disclose the nature of that COI. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:25, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

THANKS! Actually, by the time you replied, I had seen the reasons and, of course, see exactly what you mean now - very careless of me. I will create a new page under the same title - all sandbox material will be removed - and all points will be linked and, while I have not met the subject for many years, I will put an entry on the COI page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jimfbleak) and also mention this when I put the page up in the history. I hope that the new 'Andy Alaszewski' page meets the appropriate standard Rwatson1955 (talk) 13:50, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved the next version to draft, it still doesn't have any proper third-party sources. His own journal articles rpimary sources, and clearly not independent of him. In themselves they don't contribute to his notability, writing articles is part of the job Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:59, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again - please check, any better? I simply removed mention of his contribution via the reference to those articles. The reference to his field of work is independent of the subject and comes from Bristol University Publishers webpage blurb. Rwatson1955 (talk) 14:47, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
