Notability
[edit]Hi,
I just realised that I've declined three of your drafts today, all for notability, so I thought I'd come and suggest that you might benefit from reviewing our notability guidelines, especially the general WP:GNG one which applies to most subjects.
It seems you're translating these drafts from the Swedish Wikipedia, which is great. But in doing that, notability often becomes an issue, because the English-language Wikipedia has a stricter requirements than the other language versions (that I'm familiar with, at least). What I usually do when translating is first check that the sources in the original article are sufficient for meeting the requirements here, and if not, carry out a search to see if better ones could be found. If I can't find any, then there's little point in translating something that won't be accepted here for publication.

- Hi,
- I was just looking at the GNG right now and I am starting to undesrtand. Thanks, I am learnning! I am motivated in Swedish film, and I thought small film directors, producers and films are good, but it's true that they are not that relevant for the English Wikipedia.
- Thanks! Ruccc (talk) 11:03, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- A couple of things to add:
- In addition to GNG, there are some special guidelines (SNGs) which aren't necessarily less stringent, but the requirements are different, so they're worth considering as alternatives. The one for film directors etc. is WP:FILMMAKER; have a look at that, too.
- Sources don't have to be in English, non-English sources (bl.a. på svenska) are perfectly acceptable, as long as they otherwise meet the required standard in terms of reliability etc.
- Sources also don't have to be online, although if citing offline sources, please see WP:OFFLINE for advice on how to provide sufficient bibliographical details to enable verification.
- Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:11, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- Good, thanks for sharing all this information! I will have this in mind when translating new articles. Ruccc (talk) 11:15, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- By the way, I was also following the suggestions from Translation tool for creating new articles. Maybe I shouldn't trust these Suggestions that much? I thought there were articles that somehow were waiting to be translated. Ruccc (talk) 11:31, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

- Thanks. I am learning to the article translation criteria. To understand it for the future: in this case the article can not be published because it doesn't has reliable sources, but now that you have removed the reference that is dead, and I added the correct link, is it Ok for being published?
