AfD for Space Preservation Treaty

Referring to this AfD I'd like to suggest a deletion review.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Space_Preservation_Treaty

It is a notable space treaty and not the same thing as the Outer Space Treaty.

http://www.politicsoftrust.net/dmsfiles/digitallibrary/Space%20Preservation%20Treaty%5B132%5D.pdf

Many articles in wikipedia link to it, and for instance here is an article that links to it and to the OST as separate treaties, but when you follow the links you end on the same page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Militarisation_of_space#Space_Preservation_Treaty

It is a proposed treaty only. The US has consistently resisted signing it and that is the main obstacle preventing it from getting ratified.

It is still notable for this reason just as the Moon Treaty is notable. Definitely needs a separate article.

The existing article was short and inadequate, and it is no wonder the AfD came to the conclusion it is probably not a real treaty. I'm willing to do some work to improve it. Robert Walker (talk) 15:18, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Doctor Who Story Chronology

Hi there! I'm currently doing some research into Doctor Who related spin-off media, and came across a very, VERY useful page. Unfortunately, it seems to have been deleted at some point in late 2011. The only version I've come across is from 2010, and while this has been a great resource to me, ideally I'd like to view the 2011 as the slightly more up-to-date information contained within would come in very handy for me. Do you know what I would have to do in order to obtain the last incarnation of the page before its deletion? Thank you so much for your time. 2.24.67.239 (talk) 12:31, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:BLESSMEFATHERFORIHAVESINNED, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

this redirect has nothing to do with the article that it is redirected to. The redirect is not helpful and is a violation of WP:R3

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bleed from Within

Hello, a few years ago you deleted the wikipedia article for Bleed from Within. A band which I recently have created a wikipedia article for which passes notability. But I would like to turn it into a redirect but it is locked from editing. Could you possible help me out? Jonjonjohny (talk) 21:21, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

Is there a reason why the redirect page has a higher level of protection than the article itself? Like, things have changed since then, or the article was improperly created? Jim.henderson (talk) 00:54, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I just noticed my wiki page has been deleted... I don't know who put it up in the first place, so I'm just curious as to why it should be taken down after all this time? Thanks David Bascombe — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.122.165.70 (talk) 12:24, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Regarding article deletion

Question: I'd like to ask about the interpretation of WP:BIO in regards to Robert Uhlmann (media executive) and SmartSE's observation regarding the validity and available sources. Based on WP:BIO he should rather be classified as a WP:CREATIVE since he has been credited for music and/or writing for a writer for 25 songs [1], is credited for three singles featured on the album Rice & Curry that topped the Swedish chart and came second on the Norwegian and Finnish charts 1998[2] and also co-produced the Swedish entry to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 "Allt jag vill ha" that was performed by Josefine Ridell.[3][4][5] Should he be listed as a producer/song writer according to WP:COMPOSER instead?--Rutberg (talk) 14:48, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

William Byron Webster

I'm surprised that the (proposed?) entry on this social activist and (especially) composer might be deleted. Surely the World Premiere, given in such an extraordinary venue and personally introduced by one of France's best-known political figures is already a remarkable achievement, to say nothing of the fact that the event was pretty well covered in the media (The Dial, San José Mercury News, The Daily News, a number of other things online and no doubt others I don't know about). And I believe other musical compositions have been broadcast in the San Francisco Bay area regularly for many years, and even, a little, in France and Israel. It's a pity that the person writing the article doesn't put that information in.Toule9 (talk) 18:26, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

List of songs recorded by Kesha - revival

I noticed you deleted this page back in April, when she had only released one album, one EP and one remix album, but you should consider that now, she has released an album and an EP, and most of the unreleased songs can easily be referenced, and your argument of the majority of her output as a recording artist being available on her discography is now invalid as she has only released 3 singles out of a possible 24 tracks, so the need for this article has increased, so if you can fix this, I'd be grateful ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.19.13.93 (talk) 21:05, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Ritzman is inactive, so I'm answering this on his behalf: We Are the Freaks was created by Cap10xb1s. I've just proposed it for deletion because it doesn't contain any reliable references. I've put "We are the freaks" into the search engine and it comes up with Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/We are The Freaks (film), which tells me you are a sockpuppet of 104 films and thus you have a conflict of interest, which means you are strongly discouraged from editing about it.--Launchballer 09:44, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

Ed Alleyne-Johnson - Page Deletion

Hi Ron,

Although I use Wikipedia regularly and update articles where appropriate, I have never come across a page being deleted through a process. I searched for "Ed Alleyne-Johnson" page but was surprised that the page did not exist, the artist is relatively well known, he played with New Model Army for a number of years and did his own solo sets as support for them. I did, however, find the text of the deleted Wikipedia page elsewhere. It is not the best page on Wiki but the content is not unreasonable. From my knowledge of the artist I can't see any information that is untrue. He had an album (Purple Electric Violin Concerto) in the top 100 in the UK in around 1992 I see that 80,000 copies is quoted, I can't vouch for the number but a number of thousands of copies would have been sold. I have seen your response to somebody else who requested undeletion and noted that you would not undelete but welcomed a new page.

I am writing to seek a compromise, I'd be happy to work with the deleted page, if I was able to edit it, to add content and references and also add links to supporting material. Would you consider undeleting for a period (say 2 weeks) to enable me to do so. I see that not many/any people commented on the proposed deletion at the time but that does not necessarily mean that the information wasn't helpful to people who use Wikipedia and help develop the content.

The trouble with Ed is that, whilst he is an established musician he busks in the UK which people may feel devalues him, after all Wiki shouldn't include pages on any old busker. Out of interest and to give you a feel for the support the artis has his performance of one of the tracks from the charted album has over 2m views. I know that Youtube views aren't everything but this number does seem to demonstrate that the artist has a following across the world.

I hope you will consider this request. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.10.62.0 (talk) 00:10, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

The page was deleted at WP:AFD (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ed Alleyne-Johnson) so no individual administrator would be able to undelete it, however as he passes WP:MUSICBIO#C2 as his 1994 album Ultraviolet charted at #68 in the UK you should probably raise the matter at deletion review.--Launchballer 07:30, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your response(above), I think a review is appropriate in the circumstances. I have looked at the Wiki instructions and started to follow them, copying the link from the review page. I can't work out what detail to put in the gaps, (I presume text needs to go after the 3 "=" signs in the template? Can you help?

I have copied the template below, for reference, and have included my user name so you can check me out if you wished. The questions are

(1) what is the "page" is it the title of the original Wiki page or a link to it? Or is it the deletion discussion page

(2) what is the xfd_page is this the title of the link to the original page?

(3) I presume the reason is self explanatory and the reasoning goes after the third "="

(4) How do I preview what I am posting in plain rather then HTML type text?

(5) How do I ensure the review is posted in the right place?

(6) Is there an easier way?

(7) I have searched Wiki and the web for simple instructions and have failed dismally, it there an idiots guide? I put myself in this category, sorry if the questions are stupid.

Jamiller63 (talk) 09:11, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

No need to add another section header. You can probably ignore article=; yes you do add the text between the = and the |. In this case, xfd_page=Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ed Alleyne-Johnson|1=Ed Alleyne-Johnson, like so: Ed Alleyne-Johnson (talk|edit|history|logs|links|watch) (XfD|restore). As for previewing what you are posting in plain rather than HTML type text, have you tried 'show preview'?--Launchballer 09:46, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to be a pain, I feel really stupid, have got the preview to show (hooray!) and have prepared the following. The "Reason" text has worked perfectly but I can't understand the "Page" and "xfd" links I am sure I have got it wrong, misunderstanding what your said? I have to admit that it is driving me nuts!!

Ed_Alleyne-Johnson (talk|edit|history|logs|links|watch) (XfD|restore)

The artist has had at least one charting album release in the UK and has a following across the world. He was a member of the band New Model Army for a period, he played with them and also had his own solo set. The deletion was based upon the artist not fitting the criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia, the original article was not the best (but certainly not the worse. I will review the page and edit if the article is relisted following this review Jamiller63 (talk) 10:23, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Don't worry about it - we were all new at some point. For the article, it is the title that appears at the top of the article (i.e. not the URL) - simply "Ed Alleyne-Johnson", not http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Alleyne-Johnson.--Launchballer 12:24, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your help, I think I have done it. Would you mind having a quick look, I have referred to our opening correspondence? What's the next step? Last thing, in writing to you I am conscious that I am starting a new topic every time rather than responding to you. I guess you are bringing the conversation together. For the future how would I simply reply to adding to the discussion as you have done. The YouTube video is worth a view, if you haven't seen it. Jamiller63 (talk) 14:34, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Looks fine to me, with the exception of the xfd_page which I have fixed. Yes, in future, please just reply to conversations - no need to keep adding section headers for each comment.--Launchballer 15:05, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Strong keep - Dr. PremRaj Pushpakaran's profile

Strong keep - Dr. PremRaj Pushpakaran's profile is highly notable in India. India is already hideously under-represented in WikiBios. Such articles should be encouraged. Dr. PremRaj Pushpakaran, despite heading some of the most famous US universities like Harvard, had a distinguished academic career as teacher and scientist. True notable people like him always seem to be left out on Wiki! because the person has received significant coverage in reliable sources as a philanthropist; hence the topic passes for publishing. The subject is clearly notable from the sources (URLs) listed. The sources as references, which I've checked, are more than enough to rescue the article. Individual claims are a matter of normal editing. The sources (URLs)provided can be briefly quoted if more is needed.I urge very strongly to keep the article . As a person of article, he has already earned enough to be in the pages of Wikipedia by now. Remember, Wikipedia is not a pulp newspaper that keeps deleting or 'forgetting' articles as someone just feels like. Those who want to recommend this page to be deleted have neither a vision about Wikipedia nor an idea about the very reasons why the page should be there. It is not because the person has become a 'superstar human being' or an eternal soul, but due to the very viral NOTABILITY he aquired (and continues to aquire) through his calibre. He has singlehandedly strived, succeeded and proved that it is possible to contemplate and execute such research projects for humanity.

revised one is here below

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3AArticles_for_creation%2FPrem_Raj_Pushpakaran

You shouldn't solicit for votes per WP:Canvassing. I take the view that the reason Indian topics are underrepresented is because the Indians who write them write in broken English, and often very promotionally, both of which are delete magnets at AfC and AfD. This is the exact case here.--Launchballer 09:34, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Deletes people for no reason. Just look at all the people he deleted? No wonder people make fun of Wikipedia. I was deleted for being a "fictitious person" what a joke. This is probably some angry guy getting back at people? I don't know. Seems like a personal problem to me.

Ron's busy, so I'll answer this. Ron is a very respected administrator here who has (among other work) closed (our word for "judged") the consensus of thousands of the community's deletion discussions for both keeping and deleting articles based on our policies and guidelines. The guy is the (redacted) Buddha of closers, and while there is an appeals process, I don't recall ever seeing this guy overturned. If you had something deleted, I would guess that your real disagreement is really with our inclusion policies here. Which is fine, just don't make it personal when it's not.
That having been said, if you think there's something that he's done wrong, and you point me at it, I'll look it over, give you my opinion, and, whether I agree with you or not, tell you if there's a way to appeal. All you have to do is to assume good faith and leave a note on my talk page. Best regards, --j⚛e deckertalk 06:36, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Joker venom, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Parasolid - old discussion regarding deletion

Hi Ron

I appreciate this is an old deletion discussion, also I am not a wiki-pedia contributor so I am probably not approaching you from the correct angle.

Regards the discussion for deletion on the following article.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasolid

I worked as a developer for over ten years on Parasolid - I worked at what was then called Shape Data Cambridge.

I refute the allegation that the article sounds like or could be viewed as purposed as an advertisment.

The reason is simple, Parasolid is a high end software component that is only licensed to larger software houses, it is not sold to the general public, it could not be described as end user software. Designers or product designers would not be able to use the software directly, it is true that a simple (lisp) command line interface exists for very simple evaluation purposes but this is insufficient and simply too low level for end users.

Any software house with sufficient expertise to write an end user product incorporating Parasolid would not rely on Wikipedia for finding which solid modelling engine they wished to incorporate into their product, they would already know all about Parasolid and also its competitors whom they would approach directly for many indepth technical meetings, tests and consultations. These are large scale and highly complex software engines they are simply not end user products and so any suggestion of advertising simply reveals a lack of knowledge - sales of Parasolid will not increase how many times it is mentioned on Wikipedia or how many times I repeat the name here. The marketing people would be aware of this. I do not make the same claim for end user software, clearly wikipedia articles may influence end user choices for end user software products.

The stub does not go into any meaningful depth but again the subject matter is highly specialised so perhaps the stub already serves a useful purpose of informing the causual interested user what software sub-components lie inside the software package they have purchased.

It is questionable what could be written, the algorthims themselves should be considered proprietry and I am not sure most people would want to read a dry discussion of the 50+ modules or the PK interface that covers them. Professionals will turn elsewhere so I think in some ways a simple stub that simply explains in what modelling systems Parasolid is deployed is really about the level required here.

The article is in my view fit for purpose for the non-specialist seeking a little information.

It is unlikely you will encounter a large number of "non-self published" sources - Parasolid is used by some academics but for the most part the large software houses that deploy Parasolid in their products dont go out of their way to publicise their use of Parasolid, instead they focus on writing about their own products.

Jon. L. Former Parasolid developer Now no connections or employment with Parasolid/Siemens other than some lasting friendships with co-workers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.13.244.110 (talk) 22:10, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
